Menteri Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri tidur & malas...

DAP raps 'lazy' Ismail over CCM's apathy...

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri has been accused of “sleeping on the job” for failing to take action against companies who failed to submit their annual audited accounts.

During a press conference at the Parliament lobby today, DAP publicity chief Tony Pua said Ismail's claim that the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) only takes action if a complaint is lodged was unacceptable.

NONEPua said that the CCM has all the records of companies that failed to submit their annual audited accounts and thus it need not wait for the public to lodge a complaint.

“This is absolutely the laziest answer from a minister. It is not the public's job to look for offending companies,” said Pua.

Yesterday, Ismail told reporters that the CCM was not aware that National Aerospace and Defence Industries (Nadi) has not submitted its audited accounts since 2007.

“We only know (about it) now and we will investigate. We will investigate if we receive a complaint. We do not choose anyone (in conducting investigations),” said Ismail yesterday.

Nadi was recently in the news again for being a partner in Malindo Airways, Malaysia's latest budget airline. The company is led by Gen (Rtd) Mohd Hashim Mohd Ali, the brother in law of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Meanwhile, Subang MP R Sivarasa who was also at the press conference, hit out at the government for allowing Nadi to be a partner in the new airline.

He recounted his earlier allegations that a Nadi director managing national aircraft maintenance firm Airod Engineering Sdn Bhd had committed financial mismanagement and siphoned out money from Airod.

“The fact that Nadi did not submit its audited account is one thing, but the financial improprieties make it worse,” he said, asking, “Is this the kind of person we want to have anything to do with a new airline.”

Sivarasa added that he had reported the alleged financial mismanagements to the authorities but thus far no action has been forthcoming.

He detailed how the director issued himself RM3.4 million via 34 RM100,000 company cheques to circumvent company rules that requires the board to approve all payments above RM100,000 in a single cheque.

Sivarasa also alleged that the same director paid millions using Airod funds to a company owned by him and his son for “consultancy services”.- malaysiakini
