"(Artikel) Ini amat berbaur hasutan. Jangan siarkan semata-mata kerana hendak menarik orang melawat lamanweb kamu.

IGP warns columnist Mariam Mokhtar...

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has warned Freemalaysiatoday.com's columnist Mariam Mokhtar from writing articles that can be deemed seditious.

He was displeased with her article, entitled ‘One ideology, two reactions’, published on the portal yesterday, in which she questioned the government's discriminating treatment on the return of two Malaysian-born communist radicals - ashes of the deceased Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng from Bangkok, Thailand and Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab, who had been influenced by the political ideology and was allegedly held as a slave in London for 30 years.

"She (Mariam Mokhtar) had better watch out or we will go after her. This (article) is highly seditious.

"Don't publish just to attract people to visit your website. That can also be an invitation for us (police) to come and apprehend you,"

One ideology, two reactions...

Malaysians must wonder why Aishah is considered safe but Chin Peng’s ashes are deemed a national threat.

Two people with a shared ideology – communism. Both Malaysians, both radicals. Both have spent the past 30 years living outside Malaysia. Both were educated locally, one at the Methodist run Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) in Perak, the other at the Tengku Khursiah College in Negri Sembilan.

One became a leader albeit of a banned organisation and disappeared into the Malayan jungle, whilst the other disappeared into the back-streets of London into oblivion.

The two people are a Chinese man, 88-year-old Chin Peng who died in Bangkok last September and a Malay woman 69-year-old Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab who with her two comrades staged a daring escape from her alleged captors on Oct 25.

Aishah and the other women had been kept as “slaves” in a collective by a couple – an Indian and a Tanzanian for the past 30 years.

Chin Peng rose up the ranks to become the leader of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) when he was only 23-years-old. Aishah was a very promising, intelligent woman who secured a Commonwealth scholarship to study at the London School of Economics (LSE) when she was 24-years-old.

Two days ago the IGP Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the identity of the woman who was enslaved. He said that Aishah would not be arrested should she decide to return to Malaysia. He claimed that Aishah had been on the wanted list in the 70s, as she was considered an extremist.

He also confirmed that when she went to London to study, the police had kept her under surveillance. He did not make it clear if, or when, the surveillance stopped.

Khalid’s revelation coupled with the information provided by PKR politician Nurul Izzah Anwar that there are 30 Special Branch (SB) officers in London begs the question: “Why did the Malaysian police not inform the family of Siti Aishah at any point in the past 30 years that Aishah was alive and well and had not disappeared without trace from her last known address?”

Was Khalid being economical with the truth or is he deliberately misleading the public to justify the large numbers of SB personnel operating in London? Was Aishah really being watched in London? Did the police and SB lose sight of her soon after she arrived in London? Was she only briefly under their watch?

Did they keep her family in the dark because her return would generate publicity about another Malay communist, which would be difficult to hide? So they thought it would be best if she were to stay away from Malaysia. They were happy to wash their hands of her. Another Malay communist was one red too many.

Khalid claimed that Aishah would not be arrested if she returned as her communist activities were “in the past”. Does the IGP know for sure that she has renounced her communist ideology?

Mental distress

Malaysians must wonder why Aishah is considered safe but Chin Peng’s ashes are deemed a national threat. The authorities feared that a martyr’s shrine for Chin Peng would be built in Sitiawan. Would Aishah not attract an extraordinary amount of publicity whether or not she still believes in her communist ideology? How will she recover from her trauma if she is not left in peace?

One is dead, the other is alive. According to a colleague who visited Chin Peng a few years before he died, the former Communist Party leader was very articulate, spoke fluent English and was a “nice old gentleman”. He did not show any bitterness about being banned from returning to Malaysia, despite the terms of the Peace Treaty.

A few of Aishah’s acquaintances allege that in 1982 when they last had contact with her Aishah was still committed to her ideology. The British press have reported that Aishah is highly traumatised and the police will not allow consular officials or her sister to contact her.

More disturbing reports emerge. The High Commission in London has said that it would extend its full cooperation to reinstate Aishah’s citizenship if she had unknowingly lost her identification papers during her 30-year imprisonment. We are thankful that the global network of the Foreign Ministry is diligent in performing its responsibilities in assisting Malaysians in various parts of the world.

So why can’t the same assistance be made available by the necessary departments in Malaysia to serve the hundreds of thousands of stateless people who were not registered by their poor and uneducated parents? Parents who may be the rural Orang Asli, the interior bound Penan or Indians who live on rubber estates?
On Nov 23, the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry said that it would provide counselling to Aishah. Critics fear that the Women’s Minister is only swapping one ideology with another – communism for Umno-Baruism – and that this would cause Aishah further mental distress.

Wisma Putra, the Women’s Ministry and the IGP are keen to help Aishah. By all means show compassion but make sure that compassion is extended to all Malaysians and not a select few individuals who just happen to be making headlines in the developed world.

If Aishah is promised counselling, the same should be given to the traumatised victims at home; the ostracised Penan women and young girls who were raped by timber workers, the family members of people killed in violent incidents like Batangkali, Memali, Kampung Medan and May 13.

Don’t dance in the limelight just because Aishah’s story is big news in London. - Mariam Mokhtar,FMT .

Din, awat hang tak tegoq Taib Mahmud cam mana hang tegoq Khalid Ibrahim bukankah Taib kasi lagi banyak...

- TMT

Ketika Azmin tidoq, Ustaz Kazim masuk UMNO, Guan Eng tegur si kucing kurap...

Azmin Ali tidoq kot ketika rang undang2 naik elaun ADUN dibahas...

Kucing kurap: Guan Eng gesa Jeff Ooi ikut nasihat Pengerusi DAP...

Reps: Why was Azmin silent during pay hike debate...

While Selangor backbenchers club chief Azmin Ali criticises the upcoming pay hike for the state’s elected representatives, other assemblypersons have pointed out that Azmin had been silent while the bill was being debated.

“When the bill was tabled, debated and passed, he (Azmin) was sitting in the House. He did not even utter a word...

“Except for two members, Sekinchan (representative Ng Suee Lim) and Kampung Tunku (representative Lau Weng San) who spoke for the bill, none of the members attending the session debating the bill on remuneration uttered a word of opposition.

NONE“Even at the third stage of reading, they were sitting in the chambers. So they cannot come and say that they don’t agree now,” said Sungai Pinang assemblyperson Teng Chang Khim (left) when met by reporters today.

He said that assemblypersons who oppose the bill should have voiced this in the assembly’s proceedings so that it can be recorded in the Hansard.

In addition, he said Ng has already drafted a letter of authorisation for assemblypersons to sign if they refuse to accept the pay hike.

The letter authorises the state assembly to donate the dissenting assemblyperson’s additional pay to charity.

He told reporters that the hike was not a drastic move, because all assemblypersons, led by Ng, had been arguing for a hike for some time and even Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has spoken on this for some months.

NONEWhen contacted, Ng (left) confirmed that he has drafted the letter and has tabled it at the state assembly during the second reading of the Bill on Nov 27.

To a question, he said he will not be handing Azmin the letter because his position did not appear to constitute an outright objection to the pay hike.

However, he said he will do so if Azmin shifts his position to fully oppose it.

Under the new remuneration scheme, monthly salaries for the menteri besar, exco members, assemblypersons, the speaker and her deputy will be increased beginning from Jan 1 next year, ranging from 87 percent to 373 percent.

The menteri besar will be paid RM29,250, up from RM14,175, while assemblypersons will be paid RM11,250 per month, up from the current RM6,000.

Opposition leader agrees with Teng

Agreeing with Teng is Selangor opposition leader Mohd Shamsudin Lias, who said Azmin should have spoken up and questioned the bill in the assembly instead of holding press conferences outside.

“If you look closely, this is not an issue of pay hike but a political issue within PKR - that is what I make of it.

NONE"Azmin has a big political problem between himself and the menteri besar,” added the Sungai Burong assemblyperson.

Meanwhile, backbenchers club deputy chairperson Abdul Rani Osman (right) told reporters that backbenchers are not opposing the pay hike, but were taken aback by it.

“We are surprised to get all this. We will meet the menteri besar again to discuss all this... we do not oppose (the pay hike) but in its aftermath, the responses that are not good...,” he said.

He said the backbenchers will be meeting Khalid when possible to get a detailed explanation, while refusing to comment whether he felt the hike was too high.

At a press conference later, Selangor state assembly speaker Hannah Yeoh said assemblypersons should have made good use of the assembly debate sessions instead of making comments outside the assembly after the pay hike has already become law.

“It has been passed as an enactment, so we have to honour that enactment. The assembly has to be taken seriously as an institution, we can’t pass a law today and then put it on hold.

“If we want to change that (enactment), it must come back as an enactment by the state government,” she added.

She said this would take a 14-day notice period, meaning that a motion can only be tabled in a session next year but thus far, there has been no motion to review the pay hike.

NONEAs for Azmin (left), he remained tight-lipped despite the criticisms against him and repeated requests from a group of about 20 reporters for his response at about noon today.

Surrounded by the group of reporters and under a constant barrage of questions, Azmin merely repeatedly said “thank you” as he slowly made his way towards the state assembly annex building’s exit.

“I have already said my piece yesterday, see you next week,” he added, occasionally reminding the reporters not to trip over cables and other furniture while following him.

To a question on whether his working relationship with Khalid is under strain, he curtly replied that the relationship was “extremely good”.- malaysiakini

Listen to state DAP chief, Guan Eng tells Ooi after criticism intensifies...

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has told Jeff Ooi today to listen to the state DAP chief on matters of administration, breaking his silence over the Jelutong MPs controversial statements this past week.

Guan Eng told Ooi to listen to Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow.

"Chow represents the party and the state government. As far as Jeff Ooi is concerned, I would suggest he listens to Chow," Lim said when pressed to comment on the issue.

Ooi, the Jelutong MP, has been criticised for his "kucing kurap" remark, which he made when he criticised the state municipal council members.

Chow had earlier this week said Ooi's remark does not reflect the state government nor the party's view of the civil service.

He said it was also unfair that Ooi had called for the resignation of Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) president Datuk Patahiyah Ismail.

Chow had said that it was up to Ooi if he wanted to apologise or retract his remark.

Ooi had of late been critical of the MPPP's performance. He had recently said Patahiyah should resign if she could not perform better than her predecessors.

He also recently uttered "kucing kurap" when he got unhappy with some MPPP officers who could not supply him with data he wanted for solving the illegal hawkers problem in the Jelutong market.

However, the DAP parliamentarian has remained firm that he would not do so.- TMI

Gombak MP Azmin Ali should stop "disturbing the Prime Minister's wife" and questioning her trips using the government jet, Malay Armed Forces Veterans Association Mohd Ali Baharom said.

NONEMohd Ali (right) said instead, we should be proud as Rosmah went as a "professional woman" and not to cause trouble, KiniTV reported.

"Rosmah went overseas not to look for men or create social problems.

"She went as a professional woman, to speak in front of the media and the world. This is something to be proud of.

"It is difficult to find a Malaysian woman who is brave like Rosmah, and who often gets invited to speak at global events," he said in a press conference yesterday.

Mohd Ali, known for performing 'butt exercises' in front of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan's house, also demanded that Azmin apologise to Rosmah and back off.

"As an elected representative, why is Azmin disturbing the prime minister's wife? Don't you disturb other people's wives," said Mohd Ali, who is more popularly known as Ali Tinju.-

Siti Aishah is sitting in the centre among a group of people, including children. Also in the photograph is her sister.According to the owner of the photograph Raja Ahmad Yusuf Raja Amzah, the photo was taken in the 60s during a Hari Raya celebration in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan.

Chances of Siti Aishah returning slim...

After being disconnected for 30 years, Kamarmahtum Abdul Wahab, 73, and her 69-year-old sister Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab were reunited at undisclosed location in the UK yesterday.

The 30 minutes link up was arranged by the Scotland Yard and only the two long lost siblings were allowed to be in the secret location.

It is learnt that during the meeting, Kamarmahtum had requested Siti Aishah to write a letter for her family members back in Malaysia.

A media report stated that Kamarmahtum gave Aishah a prayer rug while Malaysian High Commissioner Zakaria Sulong confirmed the meeting and promised to aid Kamarmahtum with the case.

However, a source told FMT that chances of Aishah coming home is slim but insisted that “there is still hope”.
“There is still hope but chances are slim. Reason behind it can’t be disclosed,” the source said.

Meanwhile Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) national chairperson Dr Nasir Hashim when contacted questioned the sect’s leader Aravindan Balakrishan’s ideological beliefs and actions. He allegedly kept Aishah and two other women as slaves.

Nasir, an acupuncturist, said that Balarishnan who is better known as Comrade Bala had deviated from the real leftist Marxist-Leninist ideology.

“It should not happen because if you are a leftist you respect each other’s view,” he said.

“Leftist movement and struggle does not teach you to do that,” he said while adding that such an incident had never occurred in any left leaning organization in the world.

On Aishah staying with the group for 30 years and disconnecting herself from her family, Nasir said it was best not to speculate.

Nasir, who spent nine years in the United States, said that there must have been a reason why she stayed with the couple and only Aishah knew the answer.

“She is a bright woman and I respect her for what she believed. The left movement was so strong in the UK in the 60s and 70s,” he said.

“People come and go. So do leaders but she stayed with the group and there must be a reason why.

“I can’t speculate because I maybe wrong. Only she and Bala can answer it,” he said adding that he had never met Bala before.

Siti Aishah’s epilogue exploded when Hishamuddin Rais, a former student activist, first broke the story in his blog claiming that the woman being held captive by Comrade Bala in the UK was Aishah who disappeared in the 70s.

Hishamuddin who spent almost 20 years in London was first asked by Siti Aishah’s brother to locate her after she suddenly went out of radar. However the first attempt failed.-fmt

Kin: London ‘slave’ Siti Aishah in hospital, rallying from stroke...

Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab is being treated in an undisclosed hospital after suffering a recent stroke following her rescue from a south London flat where she was purportedly enslaved for over 30 years by a communist radical, The Star Online reported today.

The news was relayed by a relative currently in London to Siti Aishah’s niece in Jelebu, Negri Sembilan, Siti Zawiyah Othman.

“We have also been told that my aunt is in a stable condition,” Siti Zawiyah was quoted as saying at her Kuala Klawang home in the Negri Sembilan district.

The 55-year-old niece told the news portal that the family does not know which hospital Siti Aishah is being warded in.

British authorities have been keeping a tight lid on the whereabouts of Siti Aishah and the two other woman who were rescued alongside the 69-year-old Malaysian in a police operation last month.

Siti Aishah’s elder sister Kamar Mahtum Abdul Wahab, 73, who flew to the British capital Monday night with former student activist Hishammuddin Rais and a reporter from The Daily Telegraph, is reportedly still waiting for clearance from the authorities to meet her long-lost sibling.

“Aunt Kamar Mahtum is scheduled to return to Malaysia on December 4. She needs time to be with Siti Aishah and convince her to come home as well,” Siti Zawiyah was quoted saying.

The Malaysian High Commission in London has also been pressing Britain for consular access to the woman, but has yet to be given permission.

In a statement today, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said its access to information on the case has also been limited due to restrictions under UK’s Data Protection Act 1998.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that Siti Aishah was the 69-year-old Malaysian woman who had been reported to have lived under three decades of domestic servitude with two other women, a 57-year-old Irish and a 30-year-old Briton, ending days of speculation following the shocking news report.

The leaders of the Maoist sect were reported to be India-born Aravindan Balakrishnan and his Tanzanian-Indian wife Chandra Pattni, who have since been arrested last Thursday after their three suspected captives were freed in a police operation earlier this month.

The three women were finally rescued on October 25 after one of them secretly contacted a British charity group, Freedom Charity, that had been featured on television.

The UK’s Daily Mail today reported the Irish woman to be Josephine Herivel, the daughter of World War II codebreaker John Herivel, who deciphered the Enigma code.

The youngest captive had been reported to be Rosie Davies, whose mother is said to be Sian Davies.

The elder Davies had also lived at another property owned by Balakrishnan and his wife, where she fell out of bathroom window in 1996 under mysterious circumstances and died from her injuries seven months later in 1997, aged 44.

Police said the three surviving women, who are believed to have been living in a flat in Brixton, London, were brainwashed and had reported being beaten, but did not appear to have been sexually abused.

They were occasionally allowed out of the house and detectives are working to understand the “invisible handcuffs” that were used to control them.- my.news yahoo.com

Lagi pun reserve kerajaan negeri meningkat setiap tahun, bukan berhutang. Teruskan membela rakyat, MB Selangor dan pasukannya.

The Patriot - I agree MB Khalid. Rm3000 to Rm6000 for a wakil rakyat is far too low. The senior civil servants are earning much more than that. In Sarawak, even a political secretary to the chief minister ( equivalent to an office boy/girl) is getting basic Rm9000. The renumerations of our wakil rakyat should be fair and reasonable and that hopefully they will than not tempted and subjected to corrupt practice and abuse of power.

Wassalam

Af Abdullah - Terus terang aku cakap. Aku x kisah selangor diberi kenaikan tinggi...kerje depa elok...kerja depa betui...negeri untung banyak...apa salah gaji depa tinggi? X kan x sedar memang susah jika kita nak buat kerje cara betul...kira ok laaa kanaikan gaji diumum bagi semua org tahu...pernah negeri lain buat???

angel - Take it.Use the extra to help people in your constituency.Whatever you help, record it and use that as what you have using your money for the people in next election.Do not fight for simple issue.PKR must rule selangor.

Raj Selva - tak ada isu , tan sri pandai cari duit untuk rakyat , gaji naik tak mengapa ! janji rezab kena naik lagi tahun depan dan menifesto kena jalan cepat antara nya bus percuma , wifi percuma , dan dll.

Bro Buzz - menteri Selangor secara jujur menamakan diri dgn gaji sekian jumlahnya...ikhlas dan transparensi...tapi cerita abg govt kita yg membeli jam dingding rm3000 invois kerajaan yg bolih di beli dipasar malam dgn harga kurang Rm 100..tak adapun yb adun maupun menteri kerajaan pusat memediakan sehangat cerita kenaikan menteri Selangor...Tv3

LIEW LEAN KUT - It is not high lah, if MB is a CEO of a company he will definitely get a much higher salary! The increase of the pay of the state rep is also not high either, they need enough to live! I am sure you people do not want them to find other source of income to live. Please do not compare their pay with BN state rep, they have other source of income! I support their salary raise. Please work hard and look after the welfare of the people of Selangor!

Ali BaBa and 40 Unknown theives. - The Selangorian are not stupid. Some part of the nation are. What do you think those UMNO goons had been living on. Big car, big houseS, two wife or many more girl friends. Can their MP salary able to support them ?? Can the ministers; salary able to support them ??? NO. NO. NO. they are on the take, a very big take such as projects that has no expiry date. Selangor is right to increase. The Selangor elects deserve high salary to match their contribution and good job done. They salary mean they are NO for corruption. Can the UMNO guys live as clean as the PR. ??? Singapore offer high salary to eliminate corruption. Selangor is a step forward. If given it in federal administration, God bless, the nation would prosper.

Elected MP's salary is RM6508.59. BN non-elected Parliament coordinator's salary is RM5680. The difference is just RM 828.  This is how UMNO/BN reward their lost candidates...

Taxpayers paying for BN 'parliament coordinators'...

Unelected parliamentary coordinators operating in Penang constituencies lost by BN are paid a monthly salary of RM5,860 from the federal coffers, a parliamentary written reply reveals.

In a reply to Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tsin, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim said they are paid RM5,860 a month, while state constituency coordinators are paid RM3,630 a month.

NONEAccording to Shahidan, the total amount paid for parliamentary and state constituency coordinators for Penang from 2009 to May 2013 totalled RM7.25 million.

In response, Sim said that this should put the pay of the MPs into perspective.

“So you think the MP's salary is too high? Think again. The elected MP's salary is RM6,508.59. BN non-elected parliament coordinators salary is RM5,860. The difference is just RM828.

“Seriously, I don’t even know who is the Bayan Baru (parliamentary) coordinator. Do they ever work for the rakyat or are just taking gaji buta?” Sim asked.

He said the salaries are “hidden in the Implementation and Coordination Unit”, which is under the Prime Minister’s Department, but the appointments are “political” in nature.

“Today, (Defence Minister) Hishammuddin Hussein said the pay hike for Selangor representatives shows Pakatan Rakyat only looks after its own welfare and not the people’s.

“Then what about this? Their people, who have lost elections, are given a salary for the next five years (after the polls), without even a proper job scope,” Sim said when contacted.

The Implementation and Coordination Unit is a federal unit that monitors federal projects at state level.

These coordinators are appointed by the federal government to look after parliamentary and state constituencies that the BN failed to capture.-malaysiakini

Khalid ooi...awat banyak sangat hang naikkan elaun depa...

- 28 November, 2013.-TMI

Khalid pertahan kenaikan gaji exco, ADUN S'gor...

Khalid to Azmin: Take it or leave it

Anwar -MB must explain why Selangor salary hikes a bit high...

Anwar Ibrahim told Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today to explain the increase of salaries for state government leaders and assemblymen, saying he found it “a bit high”.

The opposition leader’s latest attack against his own PKR colleague comes after Khalid more than doubled his own salary from RM14,175 to RM29,250 and gave a whopping 231 per cent pay hike to his state executive councillors from RM6,109 to RM20,250, amid healthy state finances in the country’s wealthiest state.

The increase is set to take effect from January 1 next year.

”I told the MB that the increase is a bit high,” Anwar told reporters at the Parliament lobby here today.

“Khalid has given an explanation (to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and he has to give an explanation to the media as well for his basis,” added the PR de facto leader.

At the Selangor state assembly yesterday, assemblymen’s monthly salaries were almost doubled from RM6,000 to RM11,250, according to a report by English-language daily The Star.

The Speaker’s monthly pay was more than tripled from RM6,109 to RM22,500, while the deputy Speaker’s monthly pay-check more than quadrupled from RM3,327 to RM15,750.

Khalid reportedly said that the raises were timely due to heavier responsibilities in the state.

He also announced a half-month bonus for state government employees that will be issued in the middle of January.

PR retained Selangor in Election 2013 with a stronger majority under Khalid’s administration, after the country’s most developed state fell from Barisan Nasional’s (BN) grasp for the first time in the 2008 political tsunami.

Khalid, however, has been criticised by Anwar over his purportedly tight-fisted management of Selangor’s reserves that touched RM2.8 billion in May.

Anwar reportedly said last Monday that there are times when Khalid is “among the slowest” PKR leaders to take action, pointing out that PR’s achievements are not measured by budget surpluses, but by how the needs of the public are prioritised.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, who is also the Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman in Selangor, was reported by a news portal last Tuesday as saying that it was “meaningless” for the state to have large reserves if problems like potholes, rubbish collection, and state universities remain.-TMI

Selangor speaker defends pay hike, says no diamonds...

Selangor speaker Hannah Yeoh has defended her 268 percent pay hike to RM22,500 a month, saying that she earns "far" less than Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Commenting on a factbox in The Star comparing her pay to Muhyiddin's salary, she said she is ready to declare her assets to prove it.

"I co-own one terrace house with my husband and one Kia Sorento car. No other side income. No diamonds. No contracts. No private jets.

"My husband has no role in any state agencies. My two babies have only toys and not involved in any companies doing business with government

"My hands are still clean. I work like all other working folk. I am the first woman speaker. I am not the first lady," she said in a series of tweets.-malaysiakini
