Anger and Disbelief From MH370 Relatives Over Debris...

Chinese relatives of passengers aboard missing flight MH370 expressed anger and disbelief on Thursday, after Malaysia's prime minister said wreckage found on a French Indian Ocean island was from the plane.

Most of the passengers aboard the flight were Chinese, and around a dozen of their relatives gathered outside the Beijing offices of Malaysia Airlines, with emotions running high.

"I don't believe this latest information about the plane, they have been lying to us from the beginning," said Zhang Yongli, whose daughter was on the plane.

"I know my daughter is out there, but they won't tell us the truth," he added, waving Chinese and Communist Party flags.

The flight, with 239 people on board, vanished en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March last year, and authorities said it crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.

No physical evidence had been found until the debris, part of a wing known as a flaperon, washed up on the French territory of Reunion, and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said early Thursday it was from the jet.

China's foreign ministry said his declaration "confirmed the verdict on the Malaysia Airlines accident", expressing "deep grief" for the passengers.

"We ask the Malaysian government to fulfil their promise to continue investigating the reason for the accident," spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.

But many Chinese relatives of MH370 passengers have consistently expressed beliefs that their loved ones are alive, perhaps being held at an unknown location, despite the mounting indications of a fatal crash.

Anger and Disbelief From MH370 Relatives Over Debris

Several of those at the airline office held signs with a picture of an airplane, reading: "It will surely return safely".

Bao Lanfang, whose grandson was on board, told reporters, "Everyone has been lying to us", before collapsing on the floor and crying.

"I will do anything to see him again," the 63-year-old added through her tears. "Just tell me what I need to do, I'll do it."

French officials who analysed the wreckage said only that there was a "very high probability" it came from MH370 and Wen Wancheng, whose 34-year-old son was on board, noted: "The French examiners were instead very cautious. They haven't drawn a conclusion.

"How can you jump to the conclusion that the plane has crashed simply on the basis of a single piece of debris? It could be pulled from other aircraft," he told AFP.

On a social media group other relatives expressed similar sentiments, saying: "Don't believe them! They must have switched the debris! We do believe all our relatives will come back safe and sound!"

There was a heavy police presence outside the airline's office to greet the relatives, who say they have faced repeated harassment from state security.

Elsewhere Chinese people took to social media sites to express scepticism about Malaysia, whose reputation has taken a knock in China for its handling of the incident.

"Malaysia wanted to avoid the large amount of payment for the relatives so it announced that it found the debris in Reunion and that the airplane crashed accidentally. We don't believe Malaysia," one comment on the Twitter-like Sina Weibo read. - timesofindia

- Siakapkeli.my

MH370
Najib - Serpihan flaperon sah, ia MH370...

It’s MH370, says Najib...

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak confirmed that the plane debris discovered on French island, Reunion, belonged to Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which disappeared en route to Beijing 17 months ago.

"Today, 515 days since the plane disappeared, it is with a heavy heart I must tell you that an international team of experts have conclusively confirmed that the aircraft debris found on Reunion Island is indeed from MH370," Najib told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre early this morning.

"We now have physical evidence that, as I announced on 24th March last year, flight MH370 tragically ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

"This is a remote, inhospitable and dangerous area, and on behalf of Malaysia, I would like to thank the many nations, organisations and individuals who have participated in the search."

 Boeing 777 MH370

Najib's widely expected announcement ends an agonising wait for families of the 239 passengers and crew who have demanded concrete proof of what happened to their missing loved ones.

But next-of-kin, investigators, and the aviation industry are still left with the vexing question of what caused the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft to inexplicably divert on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014.

The flight apparently veered out over the Indian Ocean, flying for hours after its communications and tracking systems were shut off, in what remains one of the biggest mysteries in aviation history.

Najib gave no indication that the analysis of the debris yielded any clues into the cause of the disappearance.

While saying that the burden faced by the families of the MH370 passengers had been "unspeakable", Najib hoped that the confirmation would bring "certainty" to the families.

"They have our deepest sympathy and prayers," he said.

The flight disappeared from civilian radar after crossing Malaysian airspace and after a lengthy investigation and analysing of data, Malaysia announced that the flight had diverted from its original route and instead headed towards the southern Indian Ocean.

Months of intense search last year proved fruitless.

"I would like to assure all those affected by this tragedy that the government of Malaysia is committed to do everything within our means to find out the truth of what happened. MH370’s disappearance marked us as a nation. We mourn with you, as a nation," he said.

He said that Malaysia will "always" remember and honour those who were lost on board the flight.

MH370 was cited as one of modern aviation's greatest mysteries, despite more than a dozen countries helping Malaysia in its search and rescue operations.

Kalau WSJ Tak Dedahkan, Bila Agaknya Najib Nak Ngaku Ada Orang Derma RM2.6b...

Bank Negara pasti tahu ....... lagi ?

Rosmah ...... errr...... tahu kot. Lagi ?

Lagi ? Siapa lagi tahu ?

Najib sendiri masih senyap !- dinturtle

Who can make Najib explain the RM2.6 billion...

The most realistic way to compel Prime Minister Najib Razak to explain the saga surrounding the RM2.6 billion that went into his personal accounts is through Parliament, said lawyer Yusuf Idris.

Yusuf said that only in Parliament through a body like the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that the PM can be obliged to explain himself; though it is very unlikely that it will happen due to the overwhelming support for Najib in the House.

“The problem is that majority of the PAC members are Barisan Nasional lawmakers who are Najib loyalists. Thus, it is nearly impossible to make Najib talk,” said Yusof.

Yusuf was commenting on a viable legal alternative for parties to get Najib to explain the RM2.6 billion despite the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) clearing him of corruption claims.

Last Monday, the MACC declared that the RM2.6 billion found in Najib's personal accounts came from donors, not from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) as claimed by Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and Sarawak Report.

Najib came under fire after the WSJ and Sarawak Report revealed in a report last month that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) of 1MDB funds had been allegedly transferred to his personal accounts just before the last general election.

Furthering that, Yusuf said that under no circumstances can anyone from the general public sue Najib to make him talk about the money in his personal account as no one has the locus standi (legal standing) to do so.

“Malaysians can't sue when they don't have locus standi on the matter. To have that means a person is qualified to take legal action as he is affected to some degree by the issue he is taking action against.

“If you are not privy to a contract or have any relation to the issue, the court will not allow you to intervene. Therefore, the public or anyone for that matter do not have the locus standi to urge the court to review MACC's decision or conduct another investigation,” he said.

Public can't help but to wonder

Meanwhile, Lawyers for Liberty executive director Eric Paulsen said that was understandable why many questioned MACC's decision as it was not looking good based on the series of events that occurred in the anti-graft agency lately.

“MACC was in the midst of investigation into this serious allegations when it came under siege, where we saw several of their officers being questioned and arrested.

“When it suddenly cleared Najib, there was concern of the possibility of MACC being compromised and that its investigation had been interfered with,” Eric told Berita Daily.

He said that Najib's case has a political dimension to it, where he added that every enforcement unit involved in the investigation could not afford to be less than independent.

“They can't do much on their own, so in order for them to make things work, they need to work in unison to file cases in the court of law. If any one of them seems to be less than independent, then it will definitely cause a problem,” he said.- Syauqi Jamil, beritadaily

Kata Khairy Jamaluddin duit RM2.6b itu sumbangan penyokong UMNO. Kalau penyokong UMNO begitu kaya dan pemurah - tiadalah skandal 1MDB, NFC, Mara, jet baru, PKFZ dan lain-lain. Tapi apa yang berlaku wang rakyat penyokong2 UMNO dok balun. Memang cerita karton dan hanya mampu gelak 2.6 bilion kali...ha x 2.6b...
