He said he appreciated the sacrifice made by Shahrizat and was thankful for her decision.
Najib Tun Razak said the decision by Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to step down as the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development is appropriate and correct.
The Prime Minister said the resignation was perceived as a sacrifice in the interest of the government and party.
"Although there is no proof so far that she had committed any offence in terms of law, because the NFC issue has drawn controversy and dispute, she was willing to withdraw from the government," he told reporters before attending a 'tahlil' prayer for the late Abdul Razak at Masjid Sultan Ahmad Shah, Pekan, today.
Shahrizat, at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, announced her withdrawal as the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development when her tenure as senator expires on April 8.
However, Shahrizat said she would remain as Wanita Umno head and Barisan Nasional (BN) Wanita head.-malaysiakini
Najib says Sharizat made a sacrifice for the govt and party? Sacrifice for what? For the RM250 million soft loan here family obtained!
The real issue here is Najib has no guts to fire her before her senatorship term ends on 8/4/12?
The fact remains that she does not resign at all because by 8/4/12, she automatically doesn't qualify to be a minister.
So what resignation is Sharizat or Najib are talking about.
Sharizat, why must you resign if you think your family is not wrong and all the accusations by the opposition were false?
The government sacrificed our money, RM250million and much more. As much as she is not implicated, while Sharizat's family now owns retail outlets, supermarket, restaurant, condominium all around the world and much more.

Kalau dah khidmat Mami Ijat ni tamat tempoh, apa kah kes 250 juta ini juga akan ditutup??
Pokonya aku berani bertaruh potong telinga yang setiap pemimpin UMNO yang ada,kalau kita selak kain mereka, pasti ramai lagi yang terlibat dengan skandal kewangan yang macam episod "cowgate" ini.
