Sex video - Look who's talking now....

Chua Soi Lek should know better than to criticise another politician's moral values since he too was once the victim of a politically-motivated sex video scandal, says PKR vice president Tian Chua.

Tian Chua, who is also Batu MP, slammed the MCA president's statement reported in Star yesterday ('Prove it was not you in sex video, Chua (Soi Lek) tells Anwar', Star Mar 26) calling for the PKR de facto leader to prove his innocence.

Soi Lek told Star, “The onus is on Anwar to prove that he is not involved in the video and it is a golden opportunity for him to prove that he is innocent and give his fullest cooperation to the police in the course of the investigation.”

Tian, in a statement today, criticised the MCA president for capitalising on the recent sex video screening in Kuala Lumpur that attempted to implicate Anwar as the perpetrator.

“Truly, I did not expect Chua Soi Lek to stoop to such a comment. I thought he would be the last person to criticise the moral values of another politician,” said Tian.

“I'm sure Malaysians felt a collective sense of nausea when a politician who himself has personal issues that are publicly known, tries to comment on morality and integrity.

“Everyone in Malaysia knows about the sex scandal involving Chua; he had himself admitted to having an extramarital sexual liaison with another woman that was caught on video.

“Furthermore, Chua was also a victim of a filthy political conspiracy. At the time the video was exposed, his enemies had used the morality issue to force him to resign,” reminded Tian.

'Opposition refrained from cheap shots'

The PKR vice president reminded Soi Lek that throughout that low point in the MCA politician's career, the opposition had refrained from capitalising on his predicament for mileage.

“I wish to remind Dr Chua that the opposition have never exploited the situation then for cheap political gains,” said Tian.

Tian says the opposition had all along held on to their principles of not playing up their political opponent's private issues or degraded their dignity in such a manner as has happened to Anwar.

“Umno's plot to slander Anwar through the sex video of late is rejected by the rakyat, especially since its lead characters like Rahim Thamby Chik pretend to champion morality and integrity,” said Tian.

He said Rahim's excuse that he had engineered the screening of the sex video at Carcosa “to ensure our future leaders had high morals”was a national joke.

“Even more amusing is Chua Soi Lek then started talking about morals. From his arguments he seems to agree with the methods of dirty politics played by Rahim and his friends. Is Chua confident of the moral purity of Rahim Thamby Chik?”

“I do not need to comment on these individuals whether they have a clean record that qualifies them to speak on morality and ethics, but I trust the rakyat are smart enough to assess their actions and credibility for themselves,” said Tian.

On Jan 1, 2008 the MCA president and then health minister admitted at a press conference that he was the man in a leaked sex video that broke the previous year. At the press conference he said the reason for the secret video clip was "very obvious", hinting that he was a victim of a political conspiracy within his party.
