Not Bersih but gov't holding people to ransom...

bersih pc on jom 100 170112 ambigaThe coalition for clean and fair elections' eight demands for electoral reform are not "unreasonable", said its chair Ambiga Sreenevasan, who has indicated a third round of protest in the event its recommendations continued to be ignored.
For that Ambiga was chided by Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who ticked her off for holding the government to ransom.

"As far as I'm concerned its the government that is holding the people to ransom," Ambiga told
Malaysiakini after testifying before a public inquiry on human rights violation during the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9 last year.

She stressed that the coalition's recommendations are "simple enough" to implement.

Yesterday, Ambiga told reporters that the NGO will not hesitate take to the streets if the recommendations went unheeded.

This, she said, is because the parliamentary select committee (PSC) which was mooted after Bersih's July 9 rally, has met all the demands in its preliminary report.

"We are getting increasingly alarmed that the government can't give a simple commitment to make sure those demands are met to ensure an even playing field."
