Is Perak ready for snap polls......

PAS Perak state bureau has urged voters in the state to be prepared for a snap state elections. According to a statement by PAS Perak commissioner Abu Bakar Hussain, there are strong rumours that the Perak legislative assembly will be dissolved soon.

He urged those who have yet to register themselves as voters to do so to ensure that they were not left out in case there were snap polls.

“I hope that the young graduates and all those who have yet to register themselves as voters to do so quickly to ensure that they are not left out of the voting process,” said Abu Bakar in a statement yesterday.

He also hoped that the current conflict within the state would be resolved with fresh elections as the first anniversary of Barisan Nasional’s retaking of the state loomed next week.

On Feb 6 last year, BN recaptured the state after three Pakatan Rakyat assemblypersons quit their parties and turned independent. The three independents — Mohd Osman Jailu (Changkat Jering-PKR), Jamaluddin Mat Radzi (Behrang-PKR) and Hee Yit Foong (Jelapang-DAP) — threw their support behind BN and enabled the coalition to retake Perak.

The Federal Court announced yesterday that it would deliver the verdict of the Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir versus Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin case on Feb 9.

Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) Nizar, who failed to persuade the Perak Sultan to dissolve the state assembly and was subsequently replaced by Zambry, had taken the matter to the Kuala Lumpur High Court where a trial was held to discover the facts of the case.

High Court found Nizar to be the lawful menteri besar. However, Zambry subsequently challenged the High Court’s decision at the Court of Appeal and won that round.
