Orang Asli upset with BR1M rejection...

NONEA member of the Temuan Orang Asli tribe is vexed that his BR1M application has been rejected despite his not having an income.

Dewi Malam, 52, who hails from Kampung Orang Asli Pulau Kempas in Hulu Langat, Selangor, said the received a reply from the Finance Ministry on Feb 16 that he was not qualified.

"I have not had a regular income in the last seven years. If the government doesn't give the money, it's fine, but don't deprive the people who really need it," Dewi said.

He said in an interview with malaysiakini.tv
that he suffered disabilities in his left arm and has had trouble finding a job.

Among the reasons cited in the reply was that Dewi’s pay was not under RM3,000, on top of him not being in the National Registration Department’s (JPN) database.

He later produced his identity card to prove his citizenship.

'JPN is saying I'm not a Malaysian'

"What JPN is saying... means I am not Malaysian and I am not a voter in my own country.

"After the country has achieved development, they want to get rid of people such as myself," said the father of four who does odd jobs to support his family.

Dewi's children are aged 16, 17, 25 and 27 years and one of them suffers from a congenital heart condition.

The two eldest children are working, one as a cleaner and the other as a security guard while the other two are of schooling age, but Dewi cannot afford to pay for their education.

The BR1M is a one-off payment of RM500 from the government to households with an income of less than RM3,000 a month.

Last month, it was reported that Bera MCA division chairperson Tang Hock Lok, who holds a datukship, raised eyebrows when he obtained
RM500 aid from the government.

However, Tang has denied any element of fraud and said his intention of applying was to donate the money to charity.- malaysiakini

Dengar temuramah Temuan Dewi bin Malam

Najib minta maaf, minta maaf taik kucing, sedangkan geng penyamun UMNO merompak harta negara berbilion2,orang asal negara seperti Dewi Malam dibuat macam kaum pendatang!!!

Gov't, Tajudin fail to strike out law suits...

tajudin ramli mas 070910The government has failed to strike out Tajudin Ramli's RM500 million counter-claim in a legal suit involving national carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS).

Tajudin's application to strike out MAS’ claim against him was also dismissed in the Kuala Lumpur High Court today, according to his lawyer Lim Kian Leong

Justice Rosilah Yop, in her decision in chambers, ordered both applicants to pay costs, but did not assess the quantum.

Following this, the court will proceed with the MAS suit against Tajudin from Monday, in relation to massive losses sustained by the airline and resulting in the relocation of its cargo operations in Europe.

Lawyers Kumar Kanagasingam and SM Shanmugam appeared for MAS, while senior federal counsel Tengku Intan Suraya Tengku Ismail represented the government.

azlanIt is learnt that there is a possibility that, following today's development, former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former finance minister Daim Zainuddin and former deputy premier and one-time finance minister Anwar Ibrahim may be subpoenaed to testify.
One suit that MAS filed in 2006 and which will be heard on Monday, involves the airline, MAS Golden Holidays Sdn Bhd and MAS Hotels & Boutiques Sdn Bhd.

This has named Tajudin, his former company Naluri Corporation Bhd, Promet (Langkawi) Resorts Sdn Bhd, Kauthar Venture Capital Sdn Bhd and Pakatan Permai Sdn Bhd as defendants.

It claimed that Tajudin had intentionally breached his duties or obligations and committed breach of trust by having MAS procure various contracts for his own interests.

It alleged that Tajudin, as director and chairperson of MAS, had neglected advice given to the national carrier and did not take the reasonable steps incumbent upon an executive, resulting in MAS suffering losses.

MAS further alleged that Tajudin was guilty of unconscionable conduct when holding the senior positions in the airline and that he had used his influence to continue the VIP chartering service with the purchase of a Boeing 737 Business Jet for US$31 million in 1997, despite MAS suffering losses.

The airline claimed that Tajudin had dishonestly concealed his interests in Cendanasari Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, in matters involving a parcel of land in Langkawi and a luxury yacht, Colombo Star.

Tajudin’s defence, counter-claim

Tajudin has filed a RM500 million defence and counter-claim against MAS and the government, denying that he had breached his fiduciary duty or trust, or was fraudulent where his obligations were concerned.

He claimed that the MAS suit contains bare allegations, with no facts or circumstances to back these.Tajudin denied all allegations of conspiracy and concealment, charging that these were brought on without any justification, were frivolous and vexatious and were an abuse of due process.

He claimed that MAS and the government, which owns a substantial stake in the airlines, had acted with malice and in bad faith in initiating the suit against him in order to cause injury, damage and embarrassment to him, his reputation and business.

He further said that the MAS report filed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against him was defamatory.

In another suit, MAS - along with MAS Cargo Sdn Bhd - has named Tajudin, former MASKargo vice-president Ralph Manfred Gotz, former MAS director Wan Aishah Wan Hamid and a former consultant Uwe Juergen Beck as defendants.

This involves the RM174 million MAS lost in the Hahn operations and RM27 million that MAS was ordered to pay as an award made in an ICC arbitration case involving ACL Hahn Advanced Cargo Logistics GmbH in Germany.

K'jaan, Tajudin gagal batalkan saman

- malaysiakini

Dramatic increase of rural voters in Selangor...

Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching(picture below) has raised suspicions over the sudden spike in new rural voters compared to 2008.

An example, she said, was in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency which experienced a 23.2 percent spike from 63,593 to 78,370.

"In places with new townships, it is acceptable. But Hulu Selangor does not have many people moving in so we find the huge increase very suspicious," she said when contacted.

NONEHulu Selangor was won by PKR in 2008 by a razor-thin 198-vote majority but was recaptured by BN's P Kamalanathan (left) who garnered 24,997 votes against his rival who bagged 23,272 votes.

She added that there were also significant increases in marginal seats held by Pakatan Rakyat.

Hulu Langat which was won by PAS with a 1745-vote majority and Selayang which was won by PKR with 3,567-vote majority have seen a jump of 21.7 percent and 22 percent in new voters respectively.

New voters

"The increase is from new voters, not voters who have changed addresses. The number is far higher than the new voters that we have registered," she said.

In her own constituency of Serdang, there has also been an increase of 21.2 percent new voters from 94,877 to 117,979.

The statistics which is based on the Election's Commission's (EC) latest release up to the end of last year, has seen Selangor voters increasing by 17.5 percent from 1.57 million to 1.84 million.

She adds that the latest release of new voters list showed many had incomplete addresses.

"This is a little disturbing. Usually the new voter list has their complete addresses but this time, many of the addresses are incomplete with the house numbers missing.

"This makes it difficult for us to check whether the person in the list is a valid voter or not," she said.

Teo said she will write to the EC for an explanation and the party is mooting filing objections. "We will face a serious challenge in the next general election," she brooded.-malaysiakini

Is Najib sorry over Perak coup, MAS,PKFZ,NFC scandals...

Najib said:

“I apologise for our mistakes prior to the 2008 general election. If we made mistakes in the past and the voters rejected us, we accept it.

“On behalf of BN, I apologise. We have learnt from our mistakes, and we aim and promise the people that we will make amends and bring them to greater heights.”

Lim Kit Siang today questioned if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's  for BN's past mistakes yesterday encompassed the 2009 coup against the Pakatan Rakyat government in Perak.

"Just before he became prime minister, Najib conspired and plotted the illegal and undemocratic power grab in Perak, toppling the democratically-elected Pakatan Rakyat Perak state government headed by (Bukit Gantang MP) Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as Mentri Besar.

"Will Najib (left) apologise for this illegal power grab in Perak?," he said in a press statement today.

Lim went on to list out BN's past mistakes including Malaysia's Corruption Perception Index (CPI) plunging to its lowest ever score at 4.3 in 2011 and Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's alleged financial scandals totaling about RM100 billion.

This he said, was succeeded by the recent RM840 million 'bailout' of former MAS chairperson Tajudin Ramli through an out-of-court settlement with Danaharta and several GLCs under Najib's administration.

"Has Najib issued a 'blank cheque' apology, signifying nothing as to enable all the past BN mistakes of abuses of power, corruption and lack of accountability to be repeated in even worse magnitude?"

Lim said he would accept Najib's apology if it was genuine however from the news reports there were no such indications.

"Perhaps we should give the prime minister an opportunity to enumerate past BN mistakes for which he is extending an apology and undertaking not to repeat them, so that Malaysians can conclude whether Najib's apology is genuine and sincere or otherwise." -malaysiakini

Rampas kuasa di Perak: Adakah Najib mohon maaf?

Najib kata...

"Kita minta maaf atas kesilapan kita dulu.

Najib's apology meaningless...

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's apology over BN's past mistakes was meaningless unless he implements corrective measures.

At a ceramah in Sungai Petani last night, Saifuddin Nasution said among Najib's top priority now should be tackling graft and mismanagement of public funds, such as in the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) controversy.

Apology or not, Saifuddin said that punishment for BN leaders were in order and said should Pakatan Rakyat come to power, it will act on corrupt government officials who have abused their power.

"We will drag them one by one to be tried in the court of justice should we take over Putrajaya in this coming elections," he warned, while his crowd broke into rapturous applause.

Saifuddin was commenting on Najib's speaking to some 3,000 people who gathered at Taman Keladi in Merbok, Kedah.

Hours before the ceramah, Najib made his second public apology in six days over BN's follies which led to their defeats in Selangor and Kedah during the 2008 general election.

He said so the first time on Feb 26 in Port Klang, Selangor and again yesterday at Baling, Kedah.

Commenting on this, Saifuddin said although the voters in Selangor, Kedah and three other states had "punished" BN in 2008, the next general election is the opportunity to punish Najib.

Listing a litany of failures of the Najib administration, Saifuddin argued that the premier had yet to correct any of BN's mistakes after taking over in 2009.

"We have yet to punish Najib. We will do so in this coming general election,"
he said.- malaysiakini

PRU-13: Giliran Najib 'dihukum', kata Saifuddin

Last day of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

"Kita masih belum menghukum Najib.

Ku bermohon kasih, ku bermohon sayang- Najib mohon maaf.

Asst. Minister directs to cut aid to disabled man who supported opposition...

NONEA letter purportedly signed by Sarawak agriculture assistant minister Mong Dagang(left) ordering government assistance to a pro-opposition disabled person be terminated has outraged netizens.

The document, uploaded on Facebook, depicting the letterhead which reads: "Assistant Minister of Agriculture (Research and Marketing)" with the subject title: "Cease all government assistance - Mr Frusis Lebi from Entualang Entawa, Sri Aman".

It went on to request the Sri Aman Agriculture Department assistant director to slash "all forms of government assistance" to Frusis, who was identified as a disabled person in the letter, to be discontinued immediately.

"This is because he has gone against government policies and openly supported the opposition candidate in the 2011 state election," says the letter.

"Furthermore, he had set up an operation centre for the opposition."

Johnnie B Goode, who uploaded a photograph of the letter on Friday, wrote on Facebook:

"An inhumane and shameless directive from junior agriculture minister Mong Dagang from the ruling party to terminate as soon as possible the disabled persons' allowance to Mr Frusis Lebi because he openly supported the opposition."

Assistant minister declines comment

The posting has garnered over 1,300 shares on Facebook and attracted negative reaction from netizens.

"That is not very nice of the assistant minister to treat a handicapped person like that. Charity should never involved politics," commented Sunny Ng.

"This is a mad person," remarked Simon Ritikos.

The letter, dated Dec 8 last year, carries what appeared to be Mong's signature on it.

When contacted by
Malaysiakini, Mong who is Bukit Begunan state assemblyperson refused to comment on the matter.

"I will issue a statement at the right time," he said.

He also declined to confirm or deny whether the letter was from him.

Sokong pembangkang, bantuan OKU dihentikan

Selangor MB bullish on two-thirds majority win...

NONE Though the state polls may not necessarily fall together with the general elections, Selangor Mentri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim(right) is brimming with confidence that Pakatan Rakyat would not only retain power but augment it with even more seats.

"The surveys we received show that Pakatan may win more seats than what we have now, which means we could even reach two-thirds majority," he told reporters in an interview with selected media.

According to Khalid, if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is really confident of victory in the elections, the BN chairperson would have dissolved parliament in November last year or after the Chinese New Year as rumoured before.

"Of course, in Selangor there are hardcore Umno supporters, a small group of hardcore MCA supporters and a few MIC people.

"But surveys show that we scored a better rating, especially among those in the age group of 40 years and below," he said.

The well-known corporate figure-turned-politician said Selangor Pakatan is "very confident" of retaining 30 of its existing seats, hold on to six others, and "most likely" capture another 10.

One of the seats that Pakatan can "most likely" take is Kuala Kubu Baru, currently held by MCA Selangor state liaison committee secretary Wong Koon Mun.

However, Khalid stop himself in giving further predictions of winnable seats, jokingly saying "it will give people heart attacks."

Pakatan now controls 35 out of 56 seats in the Selangor state legislative assembly, after Port Klang assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah quit PKR and turned BN-friendly independent in 2009.

The coalition needs at least three more seats to gain two-thirds majority control of the house, empowering it to amend the state constitution.

'BN crowds are outsiders'

Selangor, has been the focus heavy political attention since the 2008 polls with the BN pouring a lot of resources in the effort to regain control of the nation's wealthiest state.

khalid ibrahim visit empire shopping mall explosion scene 280911 03Khalid downplayed the solid turnouts at recent BN campaign activities, saying most of the attendees were the regular crowd ferried by bus from outside.

"We carried out some inside surveys of the people who attended the PM and DPM's functions, they turned out to be the same crowd," he said.

He also reiterated that Selangor will not call for polls before June this year.

"I'm holding back the decision until the announcement from the federal government, but it's unlikely we will follow them before June," he said.

"If the general elections fall in May or June, then we may consider not participating (at the state level)," he added. - malaysiakini

- malaysiakini

Passing the buck till NFC becomes NFA ‘no further action'...

Like most frustrated Malaysians, these netizens vents their anger too...

Bozo. Its really a joke country.

Seeker99 Both AG and Police do not have the balls to tackle the problem by the 'horn' (pun intended) as they know very well who are involved and they dare not risk their rice bowl for that very reason of this ding dong.

Swkdayaks They are all stuck and do not know what to do now because Shahrizat also very well knew all the skeletons in the cupboards of the other UMNO leaders. They may be even worst!! Come on Shahrizat expose them after they also exposed and humiliated you and your family!! Sama dosa bah!

Dont Just Talk: PM Najib Razak has announced that any decision to charge NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) directors for the RM250 million cow-condos scandal will have to come from the AG (attorney-general), who in turn must get the green light from Najib. What a wonderful country to live in; and after all the ding-dong of investigation papers between the AG and PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police), NFC directors will be charged by AG as part of a ‘sandiwara'.

Novice prosecutors will be put in charge of the case and ultimately, the case will be thrown out of court. Case closed and another RM250 million of taxpayers' money go down the drain. In the worst-case scenario, we will get an out-of-court  between the borrower and lender, just like the former MAS chief Tajudin Ramli's settlement with Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd. It is no wonder that billions in illicit outflows have left our shores in the last decade.

Kgen: They are stalling for time as usual. Just from publicly available information alone, there is already more than enough material to slap a dozen charges on NFC directors. What more investigations do you need?

Hello: It looks like the buck is being passed around, just like the ‘passing the pillow' game. The police passed the report to the AG, the AG passed it back to the police. By the time this passing game is done, it will be ‘no further action' (NFA) for NFC's CBT (criminal breach of trust).

Sarajun Hoda: The jigsaw puzzle is falling into place. The investigations will continue and be delayed due to the upcoming election, I suspect. The BN government is in a Catch-22 situation.

If they charge the NFC directors, they may lose the elections due to public distrust. If they do not charge them, they may also lose the elections as this is one of the most popular issues for the opposition.

Kakarook: In the case of former DAP aide Teoh Beng Hock, there was not even a culprit but he was interrogated until the wee hours of the morning, and was later found dead.

HangTuah: The AG has been put in a spot by the police, DAP MP Tony Pua and PKR communications director Rafizi Ramli, and he does not know what to do. If he prefers to charge, all the sordid details will emerge to show a lack of accountability on the part of the government, including gross incompetency, blatant corruption and cronyism.

There's also the wrath of a woman scorned to face and possibly beans will be spilled. If no charges are preferred, this will embarrass the government, which will be hard pressed to explain to the rakyat, and this is a big no-no with elections just around the corner. What can the AG do but send the papers back to the police to buy time until perhaps after the GE.

Lim Chong Leong: What is there to investigate? Just go to Tony Pua and he will show you how everything has gone into the hands of the thieves.

Kangaroo: How can the AG decide when he himself is the subject of so many allegations? He himself needs to be investigated first. The police have already concluded a case of CBT, what else is there for AG to look for?

JM: Buying for time....Public will never see the light at the end of the tunnel unless the government is changed. Vote for Change.

AngryBird: If Malaysians want to see light and the end of the tunnel, throw out BARUAH BN/UMNO in GE13 - malaysiakini

A non-Malay Felda settler's success story...

Standing in front of his plush "holiday home" in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan, cuff-linked R Thangam, 50, is a Felda success story.

The son of an estate worker from Rembau, Thangam's father was among the small number of non-Malays who joined Felda's ‘land for the poor' scheme, moving his family to Felda Sendayan in 1962.

NONE"I was born into Felda. It was tough. There was no electricity, no water. We had to grow our own rice to eat, and there were so many locusts. They only went away after an imam conducted some prayers," he said in an interview with Malaysiakini.

Unlike many other Felda settlements dotting Malaysia, Felda Sendayan is largely multiracial. Chinese, Malay and Indian houses are interspersed with one another, and the neighbours can be seen chatting at sundry shops.

Once a rubber tapper, the now retired settler estimates that Malays make up at least 75 percent of the Federal Land Development Authority scheme settlers in Malaysia, Indians 10 percent and the rest being Chinese and from the other races.

"But there were no more non-Malay settlers entering the Felda scheme, starting the late 1980s," he said.

For Thangam, his father's decision to join the scheme completely changed the course of the family's future.
From humble beginnings, he is now the proud father of a doctor and an airline pilot, while his school-going youngest daughter has a life remarkably different to his, just a generation ago.

The fire that changed everything

Having left the settlement at 18 to join the army, Thangam returned at the age of 29 to tap rubber on his father's land. But a fire next door altered his fate.

"The house of our neighbour, a Malay family, caught fire. The baby was left in the fire. My wife begged me not to go in, but I ... went in and grabbed the baby out. My back was completely burnt," Thangam said.

NONEIn return, the then Negri Sembilan menteri besar, Isa Samad (right), offered him a low-cost house but the 'hero' rejected it as he did not want to be seen as be seeking a reward for the help he had rendered.

But the good relations with Isa came in handy. Soon after, another neighbour offered to sell his land to Thangam and he cashed his chips with the MB to get approval for the purchase.

It was with this land on which he built his savings, putting his money mostly into Koperasi Permodalan Felda (KPF) and Koperasi Angkatan Tentera.

Today, between Thangam, his settler wife, brothers and inheritance from his parents, his family collectively holds about a million shares in KPF shares - possibly the largest amount held by an extended family in the cooperative.

A deja vu moment

The relationship with Isa soured down the road, when in 1996, several Sendayan settlers, including Thangam, entered a deal to sell their land to the state government.

"We chopped down our rubber trees and gave the government our (land) grants, but we only received 10 percent of the promised sale price," he said.

After about a decade of tussling, most of the settlers reluctantly accepted the new "package" offered by their new menteri besar, Mohamad Hasan - at a loss.

Under this package, the government paid a sales price of RM3 per square feet (psf), set in 1996 for the 10 acres of land, but the settlers need to "buy back" two acres of the land at RM4psf and a RM240,000 link house at Bandar Seri Sendayan.

"We had to pay for the house. It was not given to us," he said.

Last week, at a KPF briefing on the proposed listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGVH), Thangam experienced a deja vu moment.

"Before, in the Felda Sendayan hall, Isa told us 'the state government guarantees the sale' of our land. At the Felda hall in Kuala Lumpur last week, Isa said 'the PM will guarantee our dividends'. It was just like before," he said.

Racial slurs at meeting

But unlike before, Thangam now has a label across his forehead, which he believes led to his ouster from the briefing last week.

In 1998, he was at a friend's house in Kuala Lumpur when he was told that Anwar Ibrahim was sacked as deputy prime minister.

anwar ceramah in melaka 040112"My friend said, let's go to his house so we did and we heard him speak. And something changed in me... I would never have dared to fight hard, like I do now on things I believe are right," he said.

Since then, Thangam has been a staunch supporter of Anwar and a loyal PKR member. He now holds the post of deputy division chief of Rasah.

"But when I spoke during the briefing on the FGVH, I spoke as a settler. I left my PKR hat outside.

"It was my birthday that day, marking 50 years as a settler. What right did Isa Samad have to boot me out when he has only been in Felda for two years?" he asked.

Most hurtful, he said, was the racial slurs made by some of those in the room, whom he believes were not KPF members as he has never seen them at the many KPF annual general meetings he has attended.

"They used words like
keling pariah. But there I was, speaking mostly for the Malay Felda settlers. So much for 1Malaysia," sighed Thangam.- malaysiakini
