PAS sign Tun M’s 'Proklamasi Orang Melayu'...

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and several Islamic party leaders have signed the “Malay Proclamation” document which is said to be the brainchild of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Dr Mahathir’s aide Abu Bakar Yahya posted a picture on Facebook of Hadi signing the document to signify his support for the former PM’s call for the Malays to unite and “save” the community. “Several top PAS leaders led by Hadi have expressed their support for the proclamation (by signing the document) in Dr Mahathir’s presence,” penned Abu Bakar in an accompanying post.

According to the “Proklamasi Orang Melayu” Facebook page, the meeting took place last night (May 2) with PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar being among those present. Hadi disputed accusations that the proclamation was racist in a video that was shared on the page. He asserted that the Malays were Malaysia’s “original” race.

In March, a previous attempt to hold the event featuring Dr Mahathir was called off after the host venues cancelled the organiser’s booking. At the time, the former Langkawi MP accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of ordering the cancellation. “Nothing like this can be done without his (Anwar) consent or directive,” lamented the two-time PM.

Dr Mahathir stated last week that people should not fear the “green wave” of Perikatan Nasional (PN) support, pointing out that Malaysia saw rapid development during the 60 years that it was controlled by a Malay majority. The former Pejuang chairman MP also noted that non-Malays “achieved a lot of progress” during that period. – focusmalaysia

‘Enough is enough’: Johor ruler speaks
out against political instability talks...

Johor ruler, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar expressed concerns over reports of instability within the government months after the 15th general election (GE15).

As such, he reminded elected leaders that voters placed high hopes on them, hoping the 222 MPs would bring back political stability.

"Until today, the 222 MPs cannot get on the same page, with efforts made to derail the stability being carefully built. "This is not healthy for the entire nation, whether socially, economically or even our standing internationally.

“Enough is enough. How long must the 30 over million people of our country endure this situation? “The economy must recover and Malaysia’s prosperity must be prioritised,” said Sultan Ibrahim on Facebook. - mk
