Arrest of two Indonesian women triggered off fight...

Events leading to the fatal stabbing of a policeman and the shooting of two Indonesians in Klang early today are still sketchy.

However it is believed that the scuffle between the two policemen with a group of foreigners believed to be Indonesians could have been triggered by the arrest of two Indonesian women.

Relating the morning events, Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said initial investigations show that the two policemen, Corporal Raja Aizam Raja Mohd, 53 and Corporal Mohd Aidil Mustafa, 29, spotted the Indonesians while they were patrolling Taman Sentosa, Klang at about 4.30am.

Suspecting something amiss, he said the policemen attempted to stop and search them.

Seeing the police, the group ran off but the policemen managed to nab two women and placed them in the patrol car.

However, minutes later the foreigners came back with a parang and a Rambo knife and ambushed the policemen.

A scuffle ensued and according to Shukri, the suspects grabbed the pistol from Raja Aizam and tried to fire at Mohd Aidil but the weapon failed to discharge as the safety pin was on.

"Mohd Aidil then managed to grab his partner’s weapon from the Indonesian and shot two of them. However in the scuffle, Raja Aizam was stabbed in the abdomen and collapsed, falling into a drain," he added.

Another patrol car arrived later and rushed the policemen to the hospital but Raja Aizam was pronounced dead on arrival while Mohd Aidil is being treated for head and body injuries at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

Shukri said police had so far arrested four people, including three women, over the stabbing.

He said police have recovered the parang and knife from the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"Attacking the police is too much and extreme. They (foreigners) came over here to work and earn a living. Why are they attacking our policemen?" Shukri questioned, adding that the police are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Shukri denied further comment on the case, saying investigations were still in the preliminary stages.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters the police had zero tolerance for attacks on one of their own.

"Attacking the police is too much. We are still investigating the cause of the attack," Khalid said.

"The police are issuing a stern warning to everyone, especially foreigners, not to take the law into their hands," he said.

The remains of Raja Aizam will be taken to Kampung Sayong Lembah, Kuala Kangsar, Perak for burial.

He leaves behind wife, Nor Salmah Nordin and four children.- fz
