Din ni kelepiaq bila ditanya CNN dan Din tu pula buat lawatan pendidikan tanpa seorang Pegawai Pendidikan pun...

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, who has been at the forefront of Malaysia's efforts to locate flight MH370, found himself under CNN's spotlight yesterday after the global news network showed him ducking several probing questions from its senior international correspondent, Nic Robertson.

The acting Transport Minister was at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on Sunday to visit the 14th Defence Service Asia (DSA) 2014 exhibition when he was asked by Robertson on when the military had informed civilian authorities that the Malaysia Airlines flight had been picked up by its radar.

The CNN video showed Hishammuddin declining to answer the question, saying he was at the PWTC for a walkabout and would be holding a press conference later.

At one stage, Robertson was apparently pushed away by one of the minister's aides and was heard saying "you don't have to push". He was later advised by Hishammuddin's aide to wait for the press conference.

Lagi persoalan berhubung lawatan Dubai TPM...

More questions on DPM's Dubai trip...

Two opposition MPs who criticised Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's "luxurious" trip to Dubai said the rebuttal from the latter's office still left many questions unanswered.

The duo asked why Muhyiddin's office did not explain the need for a 17-person delegation for the five-day trip last week, which appeared to include a lot of non-essential personnel.

"Not only it is extravagant to send 17 people, it is even more shocking to note than out of the 17, seven of them are security personnel (six bodyguards and one aide-de-camp).

"The rest are made up of personal aides such as four special officers, two political secretaries, a press secretary and a private secretary," said Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari (left) and Bukit Mertajam MP Sim Chee Keong (right) in a joint statement yesterday.

The duo pointed out that there were no Education Ministry officials involved in the trip, despite Putrajaya claiming that the trip involving education industry exhibitions.

Last Wednesday, the duo had revealed a leaked document showing that Muhyiddin's trip was filled with "private" engagements, "informal" dinners and two trips to the golf course.

Following this, the deputy premier's office claimed that the document was merely a draft and listed out the trade talks, business meetings and governmental meetings which Muhyiddin was to attend.

How much did it cost taxpayers?

Among others, the deputy premier's office also claimed that the golfing excursions and dinners were sponsored by businesses.

Meanwhile, Zairil and Sim also questioned what would Malaysia gain from the trip in trade and education.

"In terms of education, what is the purpose of establishing bilateral relations when most gulf countries performed even worse than Malaysia in the recent Programme for International Students Assessments (Pisa) 2013 report?

"While Malaysia ranked a lowly 52nd out of 65 countries, Middle Eastern countries such as Jordan and Qatar ranked 61st and 63rd, while UAE managed to edge Malaysia out by ranking 48th.

"Should we not be establishing education ties with high-performing states such as Shanghai (China), Hong Kong, Finland or Canada instead?" asked

The duo said that Putrajaya should be forthcoming on the total cost borne by taxpayers, which includes events sponsored by government agencies such as TalentCorp, Education Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia and others.

"(This includes cost) for travel by 'special aircraft', lodging at the five-star Shangri-La Dubai and other costs incurred," they said.- mk

Tian Chua's tablet, phone seized over 'sedition'...

Police have seized a tablet and mobile phone belonging to Batu MP Tian Chua over allegedly "seditious" tweets.

Chua claimed the seizure was made last night at about 7.30pm by "thuggish" plainclothes police while he was at a meeting at Armada Hotel in Petaling Jaya.

"The police raid team surrounded Armada Hotel as if they were seizing a big time criminal and they publicly humiliated me in front of my guest.

"Friends, I'm now incommunicado and helpless – a technology-dependent life facing a connectivity crisis! Damn the police state!" he said on Twitter.

The PKR vice-president said, however, that police had a search warrant.

He also said the police had earlier seized his Ipad tablet.

Bernama reported that police have confirmed that the phone has been impounded to assist with sedition investigations.

"Further information on the case will be disclosed in a media release later by the Public Affairs (division) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters," Kuala Lumpur CID deputy chief Khairi Ahrasa reportedly said.

Chua had last month tweeted that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak will be toppled within five months.

This followed the Court of Appeal's decision to convict PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy.

Ironically, Chua had hours before the seizure tweeted about Black14, a monicker referring to April 14, 1999 when Anwar was convicted of corrupt practice and sentenced to six years' jail.

In 2001, days before a rally to commemorate Black14, Chua's office had been raided and he was eventually held under the Internal Security Act.

"Memory of Black14 renewed with the continuation of crackdown, repression, raid etc: when will BN learn to respect citizen's basic rights?

"It's frustrating that nothing seems to have changed. Still the same bloody a** are in power and continuing with the show of force," he tweeted last night.

Chua has also been charged for sedition for remarks he made over the Lahad Datu incursion.- mk

cheers.
