- mk

Teloq UMNO dipulas Din,bagi  masa 7 hari utk bertindak...

Crisis averted as new Sabah CM
gives Bung last-minute portfolio swap...

Bersatu and Umno saw some friction shortly after the new Sabah government was sworn in this morning but this was quickly averted after newly minted Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor agreed to give his deputy a change in portfolio. Hajiji and Bung, together with four others, were sworn in at the Sabah palace in Kota Kinabalu this morning. Hajiji is the Sabah Bersatu chief while Bung is the Sabah Umno head.

During the swearing-in ceremony, the list of assigned portfolios was announced and then circulated to the media showing the portfolios of the new state ministers. Bung, who will serve as a deputy chief minister, was originally assigned the local government and housing portfolio.

His fellow deputy chief ministers are Star president Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS vice-president Joachim Gunsalam who were given the agriculture and food industry portfolio and the trade and industry portfolio respectively. Bung had wanted control of the state Works Ministry but Hajiji had instead given this portfolio to his party deputy Masidi Manjun.

The sixth minister to be sworn in was PBS secretary-general Jahid Jahim who took the rural development portfolio. Shortly after the swearing-in, PN party staffers revealed that he was unhappy with the portfolio and was calling for a press conference at his residence in Luyang, Kota Kinabalu. However, before Bung could proceed with the press conference at 1.30pm, he was summoned to the state government building.

While the presser was postponed, Hajiji sought to prevent any public fall out as he negotiated with the Umno leaders. Bung was seen entering Hajiji's office at 1pm, together with Umno vice-presidents Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Mahdzir Khalid as well as Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan.

Finally, at a 2pm press conference convened by Hajiji, he announced that Bung and Masidi will swap portfolios. Bung will finally get his desired state Works Ministry while Masidi will take the local government and housing portfolio. "I wish to announce that the deputy chief minister I (Bung) will also serve as the works minister.

"Masidi will also help me in the finance aspect, particularly to revive the state economy hit by the Covid-19 pandemic," Hajiji said. Hajiji also downplayed any conflict between Bung and him. "There is no problem with swapping portfolios. I merely wanted Masidi to assist (me) with his finance background and experience," he added.

Pressed if Umno was unhappy, Hajiji gestured to Bung and said: "That's not true, Umno is here". The press conference was cordial and both men laughed. Bung, after getting his desired portfolio, also downplayed the issue at a separate press conference. "It's not an issue, it was just a miscommunication. "We are happy. Now, our responsibility is to help the government and people," he said.

While Bung and Hajiji tried to portray that the last-minute swap was nothing out of the ordinary, Masidi wasn't shy about airing his surprise. "What a day! Less than three hours after being appointed state works minister, I am now the local government and housing minister," he said on Twitter.

However, Masidi said he will only tell-all after he was no longer in the job. "I swapped job with Bung. Please don't ask me the reasons. I will tell all after I retire," he said. - mk

Masidi Manjun

Corrupted person can smell money miles away. Of course work ministry has hugh budget. - Just a Malaysian

Bung wanted the Works Ministry because it is a much bigger loaf of bread. Billion dollar highway projects, etc. etc. - Man Lee

Hajiji already show his level of leadership. Nasi lemak tanpa telor. Bung wants to sink his teeth into the billions for the work’s ministry. Wonder if MACC is interested to monitor this crap?? - Simple Truth

Portfolio Kerja Raya is where the money is as the portfolio with the most budget. More money means easier to do more creative accounting. This should be renamed as Kementerian Kaya Raya. - Anak JB

Thank goodness Bung Fak U is not CM.- TS

Kesian sama Bung Fak U...

Bersepah maruah Umno atas jalan...Malangnya,Zahid Hamidi bukan presiden UMNO yang lemah tapi teloq dia dah kena pulas dek Muhyiddin.

Bye bye Piee..hang jgn la dok sombong sgt dgn DSAI. Hang mampu sekat Musa Aman tapi gagal sekat Hajiji. Hang nak sekat DSAI ke nak sokong? Pandai2lah hang pilih. Dok berdakap dgn Atok tu buat apa?...

Namun UMNO/PAS derhaka takpa asalkan bukan DAP?

Discontent in Sabah could push
UMNO MPs into Anwar's arms...

The position of Sabah chief minister slipping from Umno's hands may push some of the already disgruntled MPs over the edge. This may work to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's advantage in his bid to take over Putrajaya but does not guarantee success as several other factors are also at play.

Even before the Sabah election, the topmost Umno leadership had confirmed that some Umno MPs were already swaying towards Anwar. Anwar, on Sept 23, claimed he secured a majority in the Dewan Rakyat to form the new government and within hours, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed "many" Umno MPs were supporting Anwar.

Now, that discontent is set to grow with Sabah Bersatu chief Hajiji Noor being announced as the new Sabah chief minister. This was despite Zahid saying that it was "too costly" for Umno and BN to surrender the position to Bersatu. Umno had wanted its Sabah chief Bung Moktar Radin as the new chief minister.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), comprising the state BN (Umno, MCA, PBRS), PN (Bersatu, Star, SAPP) and PBS, won last Saturday's Sabah election with 38 out of 73 contested state seats. All these parties, except SAPP, are part of the PN federal government but at the state level, PN is one of three components in GRS.

Even though the 14 state seats Umno won in the Sabah election were the most by a single party in GRS, its BN allies MCA and PBRS failed to deliver anything. As a coalition, PN has more state seats at 17, with 11 coming from Bersatu and six from Star. SAPP won nothing while PBS won seven.

GRS today sought to present a united front, declaring that Hajiji had unanimous support from them. Umno's Bung pressured to give up CM post But behind the scenes, Sabah Umno was left with little choice as it didn't have the numbers. Zahid, when contacted about the latest development, told Malaysiakini that Bung was pressured to make the concession.
UMNO Kena Kencing...

"Bung was pressured to compromise based on the demands by the 14 BN assemblypersons so that they can be part of the new Sabah government. "The compromise was to make way to Hajiji. The decision was made by Bung with input from senior Umno leaders negotiating in Kota Kinabalu," he told Malaysiakini.

Another factor working to Anwar's advantage is the fact that Warisan president Shafie Apdal has somewhat lost his shine after failing to retain Sabah. DAP and Amanah had wanted Shafie as Pakatan Harapan and its allies' alternative prime ministerial candidate to Anwar, believing that as an East Malaysian, Shafie was in a better position to convince Sarawak MPs to join forces.

However, the landslide victory they had hoped for in Sabah, in order to boost Shafie's position, did not materialise. Anwar, has for the longest time, struggled to muster the support of Sarawak MPs, particularly from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), and is now taken another direction by courting MPs from Umno.

DAP had expressed surprise at the direction and stressed that it cannot work with Umno if the group Anwar is wooing is led by either Zahid or former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, both of whom are facing corruption charges.

Najib was already found guilty in some of the charges against him. He was on July 28 sentenced to 12 years in jail and an RM210 million fine. He is presently out on bail pending appeal. At present, Pakatan Harapan has 91 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat and need 21 more for a simple majority.

Anwar has not revealed who are the MPs who are purportedly backing him, insisting that he must first present them to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The Agong is undergoing medical treatment and is not yet available. The yet-to-be-registered Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) which has five MPs and is led by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has indicated that they won't support Anwar.

Warisan's MPs could save Muhyiddin Up until the Sabah election, Warisan and Upko which have 10 MPs have also aligned itself with Pejuang in the third bloc. However, the dynamics have changed. Shafie could potentially support either Anwar or Muhyiddin if they could facilitate Warisan's return to power in Sabah.

For Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, faced with the threat of some Umno MPs defecting to Anwar, it would be prudent to keep the door open to Warisan and Upko, whose 10 MPs could make all the difference. At present, Muhyiddin only has the support of 113 out of 222 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat. He could easily lose his majority if two MPs defect.

Warisan will also be observing Anwar to see if he can mount a credible challenge against Muhyiddin's PN coalition as it plans its next move. The Pakatan Harapan top leadership met at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya this evening, believed to be in relation to Anwar's take over attempt, but have no released details of the meeting. Concurrently, Shafie was also organising meetings in Kota Kinabalu and has been tight-lipped about it.

Whether Anwar truly has the numbers will only be known after he secures an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. In the meantime, Warisan's positioning in Sabah could influence the shape of the federal government in the next weeks.

Warisan, with 23 seats, is the biggest party in Sabah. However, its allies were only able to deliver nine seats in the Sabah election, giving the Warian Plus alliance a total of 32 compared to GRS' 38 seats. The remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

Earlier today, Hajiji received an invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony. According to Bernama, Hajiji received the letter from Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin personally at the Istana Negeri, Kota Kinabalu at 4pm today. Whether Warisan springs a last-minute surprise, backs Hajiji or settles as the opposition tomorrow, all will be closely watched. - mk

Apakah "f**k y*u" bakal jadi KM Sabah???...

- ipohmali

GRS victory in Sabah state election:
What this means for PM Muhyiddin...

The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition led by the Malaysian Prime Minister successfully toppled the Warisan Plus state government helmed by chief minister Shafie Apdal, after winning the state election on Saturday (Sep 26). Of the 73 seats contested, GRS coalition parties won 38, giving the alliance the simple majority it needs to form a new state government. Warisan Plus took 32 seats and independent candidates won the remaining three seats.

As of Sunday afternoon (Sep 27), GRS component parties, including Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), have not announced the identity of Sabah’s next chief minister, the person who will lead the new state government. Despite the delay, analysts CNA spoke to said the results have already sent ripples through the federal level.

Here is how the GRS victory in Saturday's election could affect Malaysia's political scene in the short term:

Muhyiddin cements PM position...

Mr Muhyiddin spent many days campaigning in Sabah on behalf of GRS. He urged Sabah residents to vote for GRS by unveiling a manifesto that promised more jobs, funds to develop infrastructure and more support for the poor. In the middle of the campaign, Mr Muhyiddin also announced the “Kita Prihatin” package, which would provide financial help worth RM10 billion (US$2.4 billion) in the form of cash aid, assistance for small businesses and a wage subsidy scheme to help Malaysians get through the pandemic.

Associate Professor Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, who heads the Governance and Integrity Cluster at Universti Utara Malaysia’s College of Law, Government and International Studies, said the results indicated that Sabahans endorsed Mr Muhyiddin's leadership and what he offered to the people.

“Even though GRS did not win comfortably, it’s a clear, simple majority. This is a strong signal that Sabahans have supported the coalition under his leadership and will continue to endorse his credibility as prime minister,” he said.

Dr Romzi Ationg, a political researcher at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, said that the victories garnered by GRS component parties showed that the locals, many of whom are struggling to make a living in a coronavirus-ravaged economy, supported the financial aid and programmes Mr Muhyiddin promised.

“The common people in Sabah, many of whom are poor, are impressed with his performance leading this country amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He has implemented good economic programmes and the Movement Control Order has reduced the number of COVID-19 cases in the country,” said Dr Romzi.

Dr Oh Ei Sun, Senior Fellow at the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, pointed out that Mr Muhyiddin’s message - that the Sabah state government should be administered in line with the federal government - resonated with voters in Sabah.

“Now that GRS has won, it makes it easier for Sabah to administer development. The voters from Sabah were fully aware of this and they wanted development in the state. Message was received loud and clear,” said Dr Oh.

Anwar’s hopes of taking over diminished...

Analysts also pointed out that the results were a boost to Mr Muhyiddin’s position as prime minister amid political uncertainty at the federal level, after opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim announced on Wednesday that he had garnered a "strong, formidable, convincing majority" of Members of Parliament to overthrow the current government.

Mr Muhyiddin cast doubts on Mr Anwar’s claim, by pointing out that the PKR president did not the MPs who were supposedly backing him. Dr Oh said that GRS’ victory has poured cold water on Mr Anwar’s plan to wrest control of the federal government.

“I think irrespective of the results in Sabah, Anwar’s attempt to take over the federal government was never looking positive,” said Dr Oh. “But with these results, with his party only winning two seats, it further cements the idea that Anwar was crying wolf, and that it’s all empty talk,” he added.

Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha said that even before Saturday's poll results were announced, big coalitions in the federal government, such as Gabungan Parti Sarawak, had already denied that their lawmakers were backing Mr Anwar. He noted that only BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said that many BN MPs had stated their support for Mr Anwar.

“They might now back down from supporting Anwar after seeing how Muhyiddin led GRS to a victory in Sabah,” said Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha.

Muhyiddin now has more leverage against BN...

Analysts also projected that the results have given Mr Muhyiddin and his Perikitan Nasional coalition more leverage against their allies in the federal government, Barisan Nasional.

Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha said that the Sabah results showed that Mr Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional coalition won 17 seats while Barisan managed just 14. He predicted that this will give Mr Muhyiddin's coalition an edge in appointing Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah chief Hajiji Mohd Noor as the next chief minister over the coming days.

“When PM first nominated Hajiji to be the next chief minister during the campaign, there was some scepticism, especially from BN who wanted to nominate Bung Moktar (Radin) instead. “But with PN winning more seats, and with Parti Bersatu Sabah likely to stand behind them, I think Hajiji will now definitely be chief minister,” said Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha.

General election could happen soon...

Dr Oh opined that strong support for Mr Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional in Sabah would “strengthen his hand” in the next general election. “Now that PN is performing quite well, he can stand up to UMNO in negotiating for seats and he can be quite confident that he will win the GE,” said Dr Oh.

During the course of campaigning in Sabah, Mr Muhyiddin also hinted that an early 15th General Election may be held if GRS wins the Sabah polls.

Both Dr Oh and Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha agreed that this will likely happen in the short term, now that Mr Muhyiddin has been boosted by a win in Sabah. The latter predicted that polls will likely be called in January 2021.

“Parliament will sit in November when Muhyiddin will table the federal budget and MPs will debate that. December is a very difficult time to hold elections because the east coast of peninsular Malaysia will be suffering from the effects of the northeast monsoon, and there will be floods and other issues,” said Assoc Prof Ahmad Martadha.

“The best time to call it will be January, when the COVID-19 situation in Malaysia might have stabilised,” he added. - CNA

Sabah for Sabahan...dan mereka telah memilih...

Sabah Election Results

"Tunggu TYT putuskan," kata Bung.

Walau bagaimana pun Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Juhar Mahiruddin meminta diberi masa untuk memutuskan ketua menteri baru Sabah, menurut Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) selepas pertemuan di Istana Negeri di Kota Kinabalu, hari ini. - mk

The Cost of Muhyiddin’s
Overreach in Sabah...

Should Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s short stint as Prime Minister come to an end soon, who is to be blamed? Half of the fault lies with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin while the other is squarely on Muhyiddin himself for trusting Hamzah as his chief political operator. And, Sabah would be the “beginning of the end” for Muhyiddin and Hamzah.

Hamzah was the chief plotter of the Sheraton coup, alongside Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and, to a lesser extent, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. The troika positioned Muhyiddin as Prime Minister. Hamzah has been a relatively faceless but effective UMNO political operative for most of his career, including operating for Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor for a number of years.

After the 2018 election, Hamzah joined Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s Bersatu and eventually used the party as a vehicle to launch a coup against the 9th May 2018 popular mandate for Pakatan Harapan. Azmin and Hishammuddin connect well with people but they have been on the pedestal as pretty faces. They are the front men while Hamzah is brain and chief operative.

Hamzah is well-versed with old politics. However, the problem for him now is that the once mighty UMNO is no longer powerful nor feared. And no amount of resources the party has can help it gain the upper hand when the margin in Parliament is razor-thin.

If Muhyiddin was smart enough not to trust Hamzah, there won’t be the Sheraton coup. However, both of them were under the illusion that they could garner 130 MPs including Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Sabah’s Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

Nevertheless, they pulled off the coup only to realise that they had a bare minimum majority of 3 or 4 MPs. Due to the slim margin in Parliament, UMNO as the biggest block and practically every single MP can threaten the Prime Minister at any time.

After the 18th May Parliament opening by the King, I have been telling friends and foes alike that Hamzah’s usefulness to Muhyiddin has diminished as there would hardly be anyone crossing the floor after seeing how close the margin was.

The latest debacle – Hamzah’s Sabah venture endorsed by Muhyiddin – is an overreach of foolish proportions. In strategic terms, albeit much smaller in size, it was like Napoleon or Hitler opening two war fronts by entering Russia while fighting in Western Europe.

After the 18th May parliament sitting when Hamzah failed to trigger new MPs to cross over individually, he trained his sight on Sabah, hoping to lure, threaten or break up the Warisan-led state government.
Musa Aman acquitted of all 46 charges of corruption charges...

Former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman was released from his 46 counts of corruption charges on 9th June. Hamzah then went on multiple “shopping spree” tours in Sabah that resulted in Musa Aman announcing that he had obtained majority on 29th July which led to Shafie’s counter move of seeking the dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly on 30th July.

One would have thought after the failed move, Muhyiddin and Hamzah would cut their losses and move elsewhere. But, no. Both of them dug in.

They launched Perikatan Nasional coalition in Sabah which was snubbed by UMNO. Then Muhyiddin formed Gabungan Rakyat Sabah. He even announced a Bersatu candidate to be Chief Minister-designate, to the chagrin of UMNO. He also underestimated the deep-seated rivalries between Kadazandusun-majority Parti Bersatu Sabah and STAR despite both parties being his allies.

The list goes on. One mistake after another. More surprisingly, given that Bersatu’s Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor or UMNO’s Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin were no match to Shafie in stature, Muhyiddin’s minders decided to make him (Muhyiddin) the “candidate” in the Sabah state election.

This is no-no in Sabah when anti-federal sentiments run high. It is comical to see Muhyiddin’s posters using the word “abah” to signify intimacy when Sabahans do not call their father “abah”. If there’s really a fatherly figure in the state, it is Shafie Apdal.

The Prime Minister also claimed that Sabah election would be a gauge of his popularity which would guide him to call for a general election should Perikatan won. I wonder what he meant by Perikatan win when there are also Barisan Nasional and PBS contesting under their respective banner.

Muhyiddin’s main campaign line in Sabah is that voters should elect parties linked to himself and in the same coalition with the parties that run the Federal Government.

The problem with that is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s press conference at Le Meridien Hotel Kuala Lumpur yesterday had destroyed Muhyiddin’s premises for the campaign in Sabah – now no one knows if Muhyiddin would still be Prime Minister and whether Perikatan Nasional would still be the Federal Government by next month.

Muhyiddin’s over reliance of Hamzah, and Hamzah’s limited understanding of the world outside UMNO modus operandi of old politics, have led the Prime Minister into the contours of the hills of Sabah which is an unnecessary distraction to Muhyiddin’s national venture. The end is nigh for Muhyiddin. - Liew Chin Tong

Anwar dah cukup nomborkah?...

Last sekali bila Anwar angkat sumpah jadi PM, sahlah kerajaan tebuk atap Din jatuh tergolek.
Tanya sama pokok,apa sebab goyang,
nanti jawab pokok, PN nak tumbang..

Namun kenalah berhati2 atas sebarang kemungkinan perangkap..
Khabarnya, perompak mandat rakyat nak jumpa Agong mngkin nak minta Parlimen bubar.

TS

Story kat sini...
Toksah dok layan orang tua mabuk dgn teori konspirasinya...

Tapi sokongan mereka menguntungkan PH...- f/bk

Malaysian opposition leader

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said Wednesday he has secured a majority in Parliament to form a new government that is “strong, stable and formidable.” Anwar said he has been granted an audience with the king Tuesday but it was postponed because the king was in a hospital for treatment. He said he will not reveal details until after he has met the king.

“Conclusively, we have a strong, formidable majority. I am not talking about four, five or six ... but much more than that,” Anwar said. “With a clear and indisputable support and majority behind me, the government led by ... Muhyiddin Yassin has fallen.”

Muhyiddin, in a televised speech later Wednesday, urged Malaysians to “reject the blind actions of some politicians who deliberately want to disrupt political stability” and his government’s economic recovery plan. He didn’t elaborate nor mention Anwar by name. Instead, he announced billions of ringgit (dollars) in new cash handouts to help small businesses and the poor amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Muhyiddin has been grappling to maintain support amid infighting in his coalition that has just a slim two-seat majority. He can ask the king to dissolve Parliament to seek early general elections. James Chin, professor of Asian studies at Australia’s University of Tasmania, said he believed negotiations for the formation of a new government are still ongoing.

“The big question mark now in Kuala Lumpur is that people have not seen the list of MPs supporting Anwar ... and people are very cautious,” he said. Science and Technology Minister Khairy Jamaluddin countered Anwar’s claim. He tweeted a picture of the Cabinet meeting, saying: “Cabinet meeting just ended. Nothing collapsed or fell.”

But the leader of the biggest party in Muhyiddin’s coalition said he was aware that many lawmakers from his Malay party are backing Anwar as premier and that he cannot stop them. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Muhyiddin’s government was formed based on support of individual lawmakers and that his Malay party wasn’t formally part of the ruling coalition — further muddying the situation.

Anwar said that forming a new government will be the king’s “sole discretion” but noted that it will not be an unelected one even though it involves new partners.

Anwar’s Alliance of Hope was elected in 2018 but collapsed after Muhyiddin withdrew his party and tied up with corruption-tainted opposition parties to form a Malay-centric government in March. Then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad resigned in protest, and Anwar said Wednesday that Mahathir won’t be part of his new government.

If he succeeds, it will mark a dramatic comeback for Anwar after his roller-coaster political journey since the 1990s.

Once a high flyer in the ruling party, Anwar was convicted of homosexual sodomy and corruption after a power struggle with Mahathir in 1998. He was imprisoned for a second time for sodomy in 2014.

Anwar and his supporters have long denied the sodomy allegations, saying they were concocted to destroy his political career. Yet rather than give up, Anwar ended his feud with Mahathir from his prison cell to forge a new opposition alliance that won a stunning victory in May 2018 national elections.

Mahathir became premier a second time. Anwar was freed with a royal pardon days after the polls and was Mahathir’s designated successor before their alliance fell apart. - AP
