Bersih is Pakatan stooge, EC is BN's catpaw...
The Election Commission in its most scathing attack on the Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) said today the NGO's planned July 9 rally was merely to build momentum for Pakatan Rakyat's bid for Putrajaya.
This is because the first Bersih rally in 2007 led to the political tsunami of 2008, EC deputy chairperson Wan Ahmad Wan Omar told a forum called "Bersih's demands - what is the Election Commission's explanation?" today.
"There was (a 2007) demonstration and as result, a momentum was built and in the 2008 election (the opposition) won big... now, the rumour is that snap polls will be called and history will be repeated.
"(They think) let us have Bersih 2.0 with more supporters, the momentum will grow and possibly win Putrajaya," he told an audience of about 500 people.
Therefore, Wan Ahmad appealed to Bersih chief S Ambiga to disassociate the NGO from political parties, and put this as a condition for further engagement between the commission and the NGO.
"If Bersih separates itself from political parties, then we can meet Bersih as a member of civil society as its agenda is for the good of all," Wan Ahmad said.
He said “Bersih today is no longer the Bersih (he) used to know” and that is has become kusut (a mess), so much so that Ambiga did not realise that she was being used as a political tool.
“So many people want to join the bandwagon with so many issues… don't blame the police, they have a bigger responsibility. Sane people will remove themselves from this group and let the political party go ahead and take the risk (of persecution),” he said.
On the demand for the use of indelible ink, on which civil society “harassed and put the commission was under pressure” to adopt in 2008, Wan Ahmad said the move was “regressive” as the only countries in the world that use it are the less developed countries of Africa and Indonesia.
In an immediate response, Bersih 2.0 chief S Ambiga swatted aside the EC's accusations, saying that it is the commission that bears the burden of proving it is impartial.
“The EC has to be very careful what they say, because they may accuse me of many things but the constitution requires them to be independent.
“Is what they are saying; does it show they are independent? That's all, and I ask the public to judge for themselves,” she said.

Police cordon off Bersih ceramah site...
A Pakatan Rakyat ceramah site in Gombak was cordoned off by the police this morning, in what appears to be a pre-emptive move against a public talk on the Bersih 2.0 rally.
PKR's Batu Caves assemblyperson Amirudin Shari said officers came in two cars about 10.30am and immediately put up yellow tape around the Kampung Wira Damai village hall and the adjacent field.
"They told us we could not use the venue for the ceramah (political talk) tonight.
"We had applied for the (ceramah) permit under the name of Bersih two or three weeks ago, before the authorities decided the word 'Bersih' was not allowed," he said when contacted.
Amirudin said the police did not give a clear reason why the venue was sealed off, but believes that it has something to do with the use of the word 'Bersih'. The residents' association of the village had attempted to get a meeting with the Gombak police chief through their lawyers, Zulkarnain Lukman and Zulhazmi Shariff, to seek an explanation.
Zulkarnain said the officer had refused to meet them although they had waited for one hour, prompting them to lodge a police report against him.
Police pre-emptive measures denounced
The Selangor government has denounced the police pre-emptive measures and expressed concern that their community programmes this weekend will be disrupted.
"I will meet with the Inspector General of Police to make sure that all programmes in Selangor go on without a hitch," said Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim in a tweet today.
Contacted by Malaysiakini, exco member Elizabeth Wong said that the state has been informed by police that this is a new directive.
"We are requesting a copy of the directive so we know what we can or cannot do," she said.
At a press conference earlier, senior exco member Teresa Kok said that police told her that she cannot hold a townhall meeting scheduled for this Saturday at an open field in USJ18, and asked her to move it indoors. The meeting, which is she holds regularly at the venue to accommodate the large crowds, has now been moved to a smaller venue in USJ17.
"The Menteri Besar too has a programme this Friday in Hulu Selangor. These are normal programmes by the state but the police are assuming that they all have something to do with Bersih," Wong said.
Separately, organisers of a PAS prayer and ceramah event tonight at Stadium Melawati, Shah Alam are expecting no trouble as a police permit was issued today.
"We applied the permit three days ago and received it this afternoon," said Selangor PAS Youth information chief Ahmad Shahrum Md Daud.- Malaysiakini
Meanwhile,in Penang, there are two planned gatherings at the Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong and Tapak Expo Seberang Jaya are set to start at 8pm tomorrow.
Penang police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob warned the public today not to attend the state Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government’s twin events on the island and in Seberang Jaya tomorrow night, saying those who did would be taking part in “illegal” rallies.
Bersih 2.0 chief Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan; Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng; his deputy Datuk Mansor Othman; Pantai Jerejak assemblyman Sim Tze Tsin; and federal lawmaker Nurul Izzah Anwar are among the key speakers slated to appear.
But the deputy police commissioner has linked the state functions to the July 9 Bersih march for electoral reform in Kuala Lumpur.
“We have obtained a court order from the magistrate’s court, a notice to prohibit tomorrow’s gatherings, which we have also passed on to the organisers and affixed to both locations,” Ayub was reported as saying by national news agency Bernama in a press conference here today.
He added the police would use their power in accordance with the law to stop the assembly, and reminded the public they will face police action if they choose to attend.- Malaysian Insider

Fight me in KL if you dare, Najib
Bersih 2.0 leader Harris Ibrahim has challenged Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to an electoral duel.
But, Haris, who is also president of the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement (MCLM), said the Umno president must contest in a seat in Kuala Lumpur.
“If Najib wants a challenge, stop hiding in Pekan. Contest in any seat in Kuala Lumpur. I will take you on,” he said, referring to the Pekan parliamentary seat in Pahang, which was Najib’s stronghold.
Speaking on Durian FM’s live programme last night entitled “HardTalk: Bersih”, Haris was responding to Najib’s call on Bersih to stand for elections instead of taking to the streets.
However, the lawyer was confident that Najib would not take up the challenge.
Haris said Najib and Barisan Nasional leaders stood in rural seats because the urban voters were well informed compared to their rural counterparts.
Meanwhile, the Bersih leader also explained that the election watchdog was not a political party.
“It is to ensure that the 13th general election is free and fair,” he said.
Asked on why there was such a necessity, Haris replied: “Financial analysts local and abroad said that we’ll be a banana republic within the next two to three years.”
Bersih 2.0 had come under fire from government leaders over its plan to hold a rally on July 9 to press for electoral reforms.
Haris also commented on the “Datuk T” trial, which he described as a “circus”.
The trial saw Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim fined for showing pornographic material in public with regard to the sex video implicating Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. Former Malacca chief minister, Rahim Thamby Chik was also fined for abetting with the duo.

Police did not ask for permission, says speaker...
Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia(left) will look into claims by opposition MP Lim Kit Siang accusing the police of breaching parliamentary independence when they questioned several MPs yesterday.
“The police cannot enter Parliament grounds without the express consent of the speaker. The police can only provide policing function on the request of the Parliament officials, sergeant-at-arms and the speaker,” said Lim (DAP-Ipoh Timor).
Lim argued that the act of police recording statements from Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) and Mohd Firdaus Jaafar (PAS-Jerai) at the MPs' lounge yesterday goes against the principle of separation of powers.
Azmin said he was caught off-guard as the cops appeared unannounced, while Mohd Firdaus told reporters that he had invited them over to record his statement.
Pandikar then said that he had also found out about the matter after reading about it in the media.
“We didn't receive any official application from the police to do so but I understand from the news that both parties (the police and the MPs) had mutually agreed on it,” he told Lim.
Police officials from the Selangor police contingent headquarters had visited Parliament to take statements from Azmin and Mohd Firdaus, claiming that they had recommended in their public ceramahs earlier this month to support and join in the Bersih 2.0 rally on July 9.
Bersih 2.0 will march to the palace to hand over an eight-point memorandum to the King seeking, among others, the use of indelible ink and a 21-day campaign period.
Besides Bersih, Malay rights group Perkasa and Umno Youth are also rallying on July 9.
However, Lim replied that despite the alleged mutual agreement, the police's actions had still contravened the special privileges accorded to the members of parliament.
“I ask for the parliamentary rights and privileges committee to look into the matter and come up with a proper guideline,” urged Lim.
“I will look into it and I will call the relevant people to explain what happened,” Pandikar reiterated.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said it is illegal to wear clothes related to illegal activities. As such, the detention of those wearing Bersih 2.0 T-shirts is justified, Hishammuddin told reporters today.
"If the Bersih T-shirt is related to an illegal activity then whatever they are wearing is illegal," he said.
To date, about 100 people have been hauled up for wearing the yellow Bersih 2.0 T-shirts, while those selling it have also been taken in for questioning.
Fourteen DAP and PKR members who were detained in Sungei Siput, Perak, this morning for wearing the T-shirt, were told that it “instigates people to attend the Bersih rally” planned for July 9 in Kuala Lumpur.

Police raid Bersih secretariat...
The office that houses the Bersih 2.0 secretariat has been raided by police. Police officers arrived about 12.30pm, according to Maria Chin Abdullah, who heads the NGO Empower. Empower is a member of Bersih 2.0, a coalition of NGOs which has come under intense pressure to call of the July 9 rally in support of electoral reform. The office is in Section 4, Petaling Jaya.
Maria, who was in Parliament House at the time, said she was told the police had turned up without a warrant. A source said the police have recorded the identity card numbers of employees.
"They are searching the premises and counting the number of Bersih T-shirts," the source said briefly before being stopped from taking the call.
"When they arrived, they were aggressive and tried to break (the door) with a cutter."
The 10-member police team, from the Selangor police contingent headquarters, was headed by one ASP Rosli. They have also recorded the MyKad number, name and telephone number of each of the 20 journalists camped outside the Empower office. They are also counting the leaflets found on the premises.
At a press conference in the Parliament lobby earlier, Maria said: “I was just informed that the police are taking statements from the staff, we have no other information." She challenged the inspector-general of police to prove that they have committed a crime and stop “such intimidation”.
Maria said 95 people have been detained to date for wearing the Bersih t-shirt and handing out leaflets on the rally.
“This is a basic human right, it's is our right to assemble peacefully and we have been stressing that it will be a peaceful march. We are not going out to create chaos as we have been accused."
Probe under Police Act
Lawyer Latheefa Koya, who is at the Empower office, said the police had refused to show a search warrant to employees.
"They said they would pecah masuk (break in) if not allowed in, so the staff let them in," she told reporters.
"The investigation is under Section 27(5) of the Police Act. We do not have a list of objects they are seizing."
Section 27(5) regulates assemblies, meetings and processions, in relation to the absence of a police permit.

Expect pre-emptive arrests of Bersih leaders...
Anwar Ibrahim anticipates that Bersih 2.0 leaders could be arrested before the event even takes off next weekend. He said the possibility cannot be discounted that the government will use either the ISA or other laws to detain Bersih 2.0 leaders to protect their own position.
"These corrupt and wicked leaders will use whatever excuse to maintain their grip on power," he told journalists after having his statement recorded on alleged sedition and illegal assembly in relation to the rally on July 9.
Anwar emerged from the Dang Wangi police station at around 5.30pm after spending nearly an hour getting grilled by officers over a speech he made during a Pakatan Rakyat ceramah in Brickfields on June 12. While it was not a Bersih 2.0 event, the former deputy prime minister did call on Malaysians to come out in support of the rally.
Anwar is being investigated under Section 4 of the Sedition Act and Section 27(5) of the Police Act. He was accompanied by his wife and PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and represented by lawyers N Surendran, R Sivarasa, Latheefa Koya and Fadiah Nadwa Fitri.
Anwar was however evasive when asked again if he thinks the police will take pre-emptive measures against Bersih 2.0's committee, saying instead that it is a question best answered by the people in power.
“That, you will have to ask Hisham, Najib and Rosmah,” he said, referring to Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.
'Let the police do their work'
Anwar also slammed the ruling BN coalition, particularly leading party Umno, for allegedly pulling the strings in the police force. Pointing to last night's rowdy protest gathering by Umno Youth members in front of PKR's headquarters, he said that is a clear example of the police afraid of doing its work without direct orders from Umno.
“Our meeting was very peaceful and not rude (tidak biadap), very different from the group last night, with their curses and threats of burning and murder... But the police were unable to do anything. It is clear there are political instructions.”
Anwar stressed that the problem lies not with the police, but the overbearing interference of the ruling party in the work of the men in blue.
“If the police are allowed to act professionally, no problem will arise. The problem comes when the police (receive political) orders.”
When asked if the Bersih 2.0 committee should consider cancelling the rally after opposition from business owners and taxi associations, he said the best solution is for the police to help manage the event.
“There are those who oppose, and those who don't. There are also those who oppose Umno, so do you want to make Umno illegal?
“We follow the process, and the way is to manage (the situation), so that the roads are under control and that (protesters) use the approved streams, as done by many countries.
“I believe this (is the) way... (If the police agree), a meeting between Bersih and the police can be held,” he said.

PM/TPM - RM48m to upkeep residences',RM160,000 monthly electricity bill and RM33,000 monthly water bill...
The government has been asked to justify the high cost of maintaining the official residences of the prime minister and deputy prime minister at a time when it is slashing subsidies for essential goods.
PAS women's wing deputy chief Siti Maria Mahmud said this was necessary because the government was asking the people to adjust their lifestyles to meet the current economic environment.
"When it comes to educating the public about savings, it should start with the leaders," Siti Maria told reporters at the Parliament lobby today. She was commenting on a parliamentary written reply to Rantau Panjang MP Siti Zailah Mohd Yusof, who is also the wing's chief, from the Prime Minister's Department.
According to the written reply, RM48 million was spent between 2006 and 2010 to maintain the residences of the two national leaders.
"It costs so much and yet those residences are not in use all the time," said Siti Zailah, who was also present.
Almost RM33 million was spent on rental alone for both properties during that period. Rental was paid to Perbadanan Putrajaya.
RM33,000 monthly water bill?
Another RM3.5 million was spent on repair work, RM10.2 million on electricity and RM1.9 million on the water bill.
"We never knew how big is the family of the prime minister and deputy prime minister, until now," chimed in DAP youth chief Anthony Loke, who was also at the press conference.
He contended that if the amount is divided up from five years and then by month, the end result will show that they government paid RM160,000 a month for electricity and RM33,000 a month for water for both official residences.
"That is enough to pay my electricity bill for 100 years and enough water for 6,000 people," he said incredulously.
Siti Maria, who is also Kota Raja parliamentarian, added that the government must be transparent with the rental contract it signed with Perbadanan Putrajaya on the rental of the two properties and whether in the long term after paying such a high rental, the government will get to own the properties.
The high cost of government expenditures has become a sticking point for the opposition, as the government implemented a subsidy rationalisation programme to reduce public "addiction" to what Najib has described as the rakyat's "opium".
The opposition has contested that the government should also fix leakages and corruption within the system first, as well as reduce the lavish expenditures of government departments and public officials.
This is not the first time the PM's official residence was dragged into the mess, after a RM65 million price tag for renovations was brought into question in Oct 2010.

'Gov't misled public over RM74bil subsidy burden'...
The federal government had "misled" the public when the Performance, Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) stated it had footed a subsidy bill of RM74 billion in 2010, an economist said today.
Speaking at the Selangor 2012 budget talks in Subang Jaya today, Nottingham University visiting associate professor Subramaniam Pillay said 54 percent of that bill was for education and healthcare, which is in fact government responsibility.
"All governments in the world subsidise different items for different people. But education and health are what economists call 'public goods' and are the responsibility of the government,” said Subramaniam who retired as Nottingham University Business School head last year.
"All developed countries around the world subsidise healthcare heavily, except the US, but (President Barack) Obama recently tabled a Healthcare Bill."
Take the two big-ticket items away and the bill was only RM31.1 billion, of which only food subsidies (RM3 billion or about 2 percent of the federal budget) went directly to the rakyat.
He said much of the RM23.7 billion fuel and energy subsidies paid in 2010 had gone to gas subsidies to independent power producers.
"For infrastructure, all the subsidies go to (highway concessionaires) not because they need it but because they signed an agreement (with the government), which was stupid. It's not a subsidy for the rakyat," he said.
The Pemandu figure of RM74 billion has been cited by the government to justify its subsidy cuts on petrol, natural gas, diesel and food items.

Umno Youth threatens to burn down PKR HQ...
A group of Umno Youth members gathered in front of their arch nemesis PKR's headquarters in Petaling Jaya late last night in a noisy demonstration, threatening to burn down the building.
About 300 people, according to PKR estimates, had converged in motorcycles and demanded that PKR withdraws its support from the Bersih 2.0 march on July 9.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who rushed to the HQ after being alerted by party members, said that he arrived at about 11pm and observed the demonstration from a distance.
"How do I know they are Umno members? First of all, they were carrying Umno flags and they were wearing their red 'Patriot' T-shirts,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
“I could also see (Umno Youth exco Lukman Adam) and (former Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah) leading the group."
Incendiary speeches on tape
Saifuddin also said that when he got there with several party members, they had recorded the fiery speeches made by Lukman to the Umno Youth crowd.
"He said that he wants to burn down the PKR HQ. He can deny it all he wants, but we have the recording," he said.
PKR Youth deputy information chief Rozan Azen Mat Rasip, who was also there, confirmed that Lukman had explicitly threatened to burn down the party headquarters if they were to continue participating in the July 9 rally.
"He also threatened (PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim) and (Bersih 2.0 steering committee chairperson) S Ambiga for supporting the rally," he said, adding that about 50 PKR Youth members were there to monitor the demonstration.
According to Rozan, the Umno Youth group converged in two locations - first at a petrol station in Shah Alam, second at the Batu Tiga toll on the Federal Highway - before making their way to the PKR HQ in Tropicana, based on information from pro-Umno blogs.
He lodged a police report at the Tropicana police station, just a few doors down the road from the HQ, at about 11.40pm almost immediately after the crowd had dispersed.
No arrests made
Rozan said that he saw about 20 heavily-armed police officers on stand-by at the protest although no arrest were made.
"That's why we're puzzled," he said, urging the police to investigate the case under criminal intimidation.
Meanwhile, Lukman and Arman were unreachable for comment.
Though Bersih 2.0 - which stands for the Coalition of Free and Fair Elections - claims to be a politically non-partisan group, PKR is expected to mobilise tens of thousands of its members from all around the country for the massive rally on July 9. Calling for electoral reforms, Bersih 2.0 will also be handing over a petition to the Istana Negara detailing their demands before the next general elections.
However, Umno Youth said that they will be organising a counter-rally on the same day, calling it the 'Patriot' rally. Movement chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar had previously said that their objective is to defy Bersih 2.0, as well as supporting engagement with the Election Commission.
Malay rights NGO Perkasa have also vowed to hold another counter-rally in the bid to stop the Bersih rally.

Bersih 2.0 is perceived as a grave threat to UMNO elite...
The magic of Bersih 2.0 will transform everyone in the true spirit of cleanliness, fairness and democracy. Any one attending the march will be blessed in their effort to transform Malaysia into a democracy.
The Government is dead set against the March for one reason only. Many of them will crash in the election. Many will even lose their deposits. The election will be the door to their timely exit.
The Government still thinks that the people owe them a living. They are willing to plot and scheme, hoodwink the people, even spending millions to buy votes so that they can survive the election and continue to lord over us. They are not going to surrender to the will of the people. That is why they are so against Bersih 2.0.
BN implosion at hand
Why give all the excuses that a one-day rally will threaten national security? Why say that it will affect Tourism? Why say that traders and taxi drivers are going to lose millions in revenue? Why say that it will affect Malay unity? First and foremost, the Malays are not united is because UMNO refuses to accept the true path of Islam. Instead of looking out for the Malays it continues to condemn PAS, which is undeniably an Islamist Party. It also condemns Malay DAP members as window dressers for the DAP. It condemns PKR as a dirty party. And yet they talk about Malay and Muslim unity.
Why can’t the Government just come out and tell the truth that BN is going to implode if Free and Fair Elections are held? Why employ gangsters like Perkasa to rile the nation and promote racial conflicts? Why call on BN sympathizers to condemn the Rally? The excuses are so lame that it makes the people feel that our government is being helmed by a group of morons.
Why condemn Ambiga as an Islamic threat? Why picture Anwar as a sex maniac? Najib Razak’s latest comment that the Nation should decide for themselves whether it was Anwar in the Sex Video is so lame!! How can Malaysians continue to accept Najib as our National Leader? It is so unprofessional of him, to meddle in such trivial matters. Frankly, he is a big disappointment to Malaysians who looked up to him and his expensive so-called 1Malaysia campaign.
Since his inception as Prime Minister, nothing has gone right in this country. The Executive Branches of the Government have grown bolder in their effort to contain the people. They have given up their independence to be subservient to a ‘banana government’.
As the country’s economy slides further down into a ‘critical mess’, the clowns in the government are still trying to hoodwink the public with cheap magic tricks. Dipping their hands into the last remaining financial bodies and institutions like Khazanah, EPF, Tabung Haji, Felda, the wealth of the country is slowly diminishing. One day it will be all gone, before they finally hand over the reins of power to the people.
There is always a morning after
As July 9th approaches, there will be many more controversies, as the government forces a last ditch effort to break the will of the people. There will be more deadly threats, arrests and the threatened use of the ISA to detain Bersih leaders. Ops Lalang 2 will hover menacingly over the nation. There may even be Emergency Rule declared to contain and control the movement of the people.
If there, then perhaps, it is what Malaysia needs. Najib and BN will be signing the own political death warrants. Pakatan need not do much after that. Just imagine the economic impact. Already investors are terrified, who would want to build a factory or contribute to Najib and Rosmah's funding for their overseas trips then?
One thing is for certain. The Bersih 2.0 Democracy March is perceived as a grave threat to Barisan Nasional. Or more specifically, the UMNO elite. They are not about to stand by and let it happen. They think the march will open up a Pandora's Box that will swallow up BN and themselves. All their future dreams will be turned into a bad nightmare. They simply cannot accept the fact that they cannot lord over us anymore. Their serfdom is disappearing and they will once again be ordinary men, just like us.
So, now that you know, please make a stand. Malaysians, don't lose courage at this stage. Soldier on...- Iskandar Dzulkarnain

Bersih march must go on despite the intimidation...
Police are already arresting anyone who happens to be wearing a yellow shirt. Police roadblocks are already in place to check the movements of Bersih symphatizers on their way to roadshows across the nation.
Yes, the police are busy rounding up Bersih marchers while thieves, rapists and acid throwers are still at large in the country.
Pro-UMNO NGOs and even people affliated with MATTA have come out to issue statements that the Bersih march would be bad for business and scare away tourists from visiting our fair country. A day’s march does more damage than RM1.8 million spent on setting up 6 Facebook pages by the Tourism Ministry? A day’s march does more damage to business in Kuala Lumpur than spending billions on submarines that have trouble diving?
With all that going against it, none of the Bersih detractors are really saying anything about the real reasons for the march. No-one is commenting on the 8 points Bersih is marching for. Not one of the critics, whether it is UMNO, Perkasa, Najib, Muhyiddin, Ibrahim Ali or Khairy Jamaluddin have brought to the table what they dislike about any of these 8 points that Bersih is handing over in the form of a memorandum to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong come July 9th.
And this is why Bersih is important. It is a march to uphold civil liberties. A march initiated by the people, organised by the people and participated by everyday Malaysians. It is a march by Malaysians to ensure a better and more matured election process.
It is only logical that when a system is broken, the system needs to be fixed. The people of Malaysia know the whole election process, the system is broken and it needs to be fixed. So what is wrong for like-minded people to march and present their ideas?
Too many ignored and broken promises
If the Election Commission counters and says that it has provided avenues for Bersih to hold dialogue in a closed setting, then the question to ask is - this has been done before, the dialogue over long ago and yet, what changes have we seen?
Case in hand - Point 3 of Bersih's 8 demands: The use of indelible ink. This suggestion was brought forward to the EC in March 2007. It is now 2011, and the EC has the gall to say the use of indelible ink requires a change to the Federal Constitution! Since when did putting ink on someone's finger require amendments to the Federal Consitution?
And even if there is a grain of truth to this, then amend the Constitution - the parliamentarians should debate this and vote on it and decide once and for all the necessity for the use of indelible ink. The thing is, will such a motion be allowed to get past the Speaker of the Parliament. Now, you know why citizens must come out to the streets and gather peacefully on July 9. BN lawmakers do not respect their wishes.
How hard is really to listen to the people and make their wishes a reality? For the duration that the UMNO-BN government has held two thirds majority in Parliament, the Federal Constitution has seen no less than 650 amendments. How much harm can one more amendment have when the current Federal Constitution is a shadow of its original, due to the devices of the UMNO-BN government.- Maclean Patrick

Wearing Yellow T-shirts get arrested, distributing porn VCD ok...
Police today detained eight men who were wearing yellow T-shirts with 'Bersih 2.0' written in Jawi script at Taman Kosas in Ampang Kuala Lumpur.
Ampang Jaya Police Chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said all eight were detained for wearing yellow T-shirts with 'Bersih 2.0' written on it, reflecting their support for the July 9, illegal rally.
"They were also found to have disrupted public order while riding on their motorcycles in the area. It was the reason for their arrest," he told Bernama today.
Amiruddin said they were being detained at the Ampang police station and police would release them after recording statements from them. He added that the men, aged between 20 and 40, and believed to be supporters of opposition parties, were detained at 11am in front of the Taman Kosas mosque.
The arrests were part of a police crackdown on electoral reform movement Bersih's mega rally planned for July 9. Police have announced that it has strategies to thwart the rally that it had declared illegal and have vowed to take action against those who take part.
Police get yellow fever
Yesterday, PKR Youth deputy chief Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin was arrested by police for apparently just for wearing the distinctive yellow Bersih 2.0 T-shirt.
Khairul Anuar (far left in photo) was arrested in Uptown market in Shah Alam last night where the road show to promote the Bersih rally was to have kicked off.
The road show was supposed to begin last night with a series of speeches, but was aborted after police cordoned off the commercial centre and erected roadblocks around the city. Three police trucks and 50 police personnel together with scores of other plainclothes police officers flooded the ares.
Khairul Anuar claimed that he was “doing nothing” in the area, when three plainclothes police approached and later arrested him.
He was taken to the Shah Alam district police headquarters and had his statement recorded before being released around 2am. Two others were also reportedly arrested for donning the same T-shirt but were later released.
