Should DAP leaves the government...

Related image

After fighting for and dreaming of a place at the table for years, DAP is now discovering that being part of the government, at least part of a Dr Mahathir Mohamad-led government, can be a bittersweet affair. With frustration growing among its grassroots supporters and consensus breaking down within the party’s top leadership, pulling out of the government is no longer as unthinkable as it might have been 19 months ago.

Before GE14, Mahathir was, of course, more than happy to be seen with DAP leaders, enjoying their enthusiastic support, and praising them for their contribution to the nation. He even went so far as to admit that he was wrong to demonise DAP and expressed admiration for the way they upheld the national language in their meetings. Without a doubt, he would not be where he is today without DAP’s support.

Back in power, however, his enthusiasm for them has waned. Suddenly, they have become a liability, a stumbling block to gaining wider Malay support, a competitor to be outmanoeuvred and brought into submission. In the face of blatantly racist attacks against them, including from within his own party, Mahathir has done nothing to defend them.

Not only has Mahathir frustrated the whole reform process that is critical to the DAP base, he has given them no face, no meaningful concessions, nothing to assuage their increasingly restless supporters. He seems entirely unconcerned that DAP, more than any other Pakatan Harapan party, is vulnerable on issues like the Sosma arrests, UEC recognition and even Lynas, and seems content to leaving them twisting in the wind.

It doesn’t help as well that on the all-important education file, Maszlee Malik is behaving more like an ustaz each day than an education minister; fears are certainly growing among non-Muslims about his ultimate intentions. His latest “dakwah” memo is the last straw. And yet, Mahathir continues to defend him oblivious to the tremendous carnage he is causing both to the PH brand and the education system.

Indeed, for Chinese and other non-Malay educationists, the PH government has been an absolute disaster; and for that too, DAP will suffer.

The other thing that DAP has had to contend with is a level of ugly racism and bigotry the likes of which our nation has never witnessed before. Umno, PAS and a host of Malay NGOs have resorted to the most outrageous and egregious acts of racism and bigotry against DAP imaginable.
Image result for Lim Guan Eng (LGE) of using his position as finance minister to take away money from the Malays to give to the Chinese

The latest spate of videos accusing Lim Guan Eng (LGE) of using his position as finance minister to take away money from the Malays to give to the Chinese and allegations that the communists (code for DAP and the Chinese) have taken control of the government, for example, are all part of a well-organised and systematic campaign to demonise DAP.

Clearly, right-wing Malay groups are incensed that DAP and non-Malays are now better represented in parliament and government. Willing to accept nothing more than token non-Malay representation in government, they are determined to frustrate the present political arrangement by any means possible.

What we are now seeing is the true face of the ugly racism that has long simmered under the surface of our politics. If anything, it has gotten worse under PH, largely because Mahathir has consistently declined to confront it.

Given this racist onslaught and Mahathir’s failure to come to their defence, DAP is, to all intents and purposes, politically marginalised. They cannot initiate anything because it will be turned against them and the PH government. Anything they are involved in, no matter how good or how needed, will immediately be targeted and stymied.

As a consequence, the DAP leadership is now facing huge political pressures both from within and without. They are at the table but powerless. They are in partnership with Mahathir at a time when the larger Chinese community is turning against him.

At the same time, DAP itself is showing signs of the ivory tower syndrome. Its leaders are seen as arrogant, unwilling to listen and out of touch with grassroots sentiment. The sense of estrangement between the leadership and its support base is such that DAP leaders no longer command the same respect as they did before.

As a consequence, DAP grassroots members are in no mood to entertain pleas for patience or understanding. Every time DAP leaders defend Mahathir, they get hammered on social media.

Clearly, the DAP strategy of trying to have it both ways – LGE on the inside supporting the government and Lim Kit Siang critical from the outside – doesn’t cut it anymore. They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
Image result for DAP ministers

DAP must now ask itself whether what they gain by sitting around the cabinet table is worth the price they are paying in terms of loss of support, whether staying in government helps or hinders their objectives. In the end, self-survival might demand a radical course correction.

Of course, there is a danger that leaving the government might precipitate a political crisis and perhaps lead to the creation of a Malay unity government. However, Malay political parties are themselves deeply suspicious of each other, cannot agree on leadership issues and do not share the same goals. Their common antipathy for DAP may not, therefore, be sufficient to unite them in any kind of long-term relationship, especially if DAP is no longer part of the government.

If DAP makes clear that it does not intend to engineer the downfall of the PH, that it will remain PH-friendly in Parliament, especially when it comes to implementation of the PH manifesto, it could avoid a political crisis while giving itself more room to manoeuvre.

On other matters, given the number of seats they have in Parliament, they might be able to rein in the worst excesses of Ketuanan Melayu ideologues.

Equally important, a departure from government would also take the wind out of the sails of all the racists out there who have long accused DAP of manipulating the government from within to undermine Islam and the position of the Malays. It would show the nation that, unlike so many Umno and PAS politicians who are willing to lie and manipulate their way back to power through backdoor arrangements and fake news, DAP is willing to make real and principled sacrifices for the good of the nation.

And finally, with DAP out of the way, Malay political parties will be less able to hide behind racial and religious narratives to distract attention from their own failures. Let’s see if parties like PPBM can come up with anything better than flying cars and black shoes.

Whatever it is, it should be clear by now that Mahathir is singlehandedly destroying PH and pulling DAP down with it. Helmed by Umno-minded PPBM ministers, PH is unlikely to deliver on the reform agenda; they were never enthusiastic supporters anyway. With all hope of Mahathir leading the nation to the promised land of Malaysia Baru gone, DAP can explore new avenues to pursue the reform agenda or go the way of the MCA. - Dennis Ignatius

Hadi mmg wajar bengang dgn Anwar.

Dia pun fikir, elok bersama Umno yg tgh nazak setelah tumbang jadi kerajaan. Bahkan, Ketua Pembangkang pun dia orang pilih Ismail Sabri. Hadi tetap di takuk lama.

Oleh kerana itu, Hadi cukup tak senang kalau Anwar jadi PM ke 8 kerana mana dia nak letak muka kalau terpaksa melutut dgn Anwar nanti sebagaimana dia dah melutut dgn Tun M yg dia kata dulu hanya layak jadi doktor klinik 1 Msia saja. Nampaknya, Hadi hanya hero di Rusila je lah. - Wfauzdin Ns

Program Subsidi Petrol...

Tahniah Saifuddin Nasution..

" Tuan guru sedang buat apa? Adakah tuan guru mengalami buasir lagi?" Tanya tok dipintu dapor rumahnya.

Guru tok tersentak sambil cepat2 bangun mencapai tongkatnya. Dia kemalu-maluan tok lihat. Tanya tok.

Guru tok mengeleng2 kepala seraya bersandar atas kerusi malas. Sambil membuaikan badannya di kerusi malas, guru tok berkata,
" Wahai Using.

Guru tok tersenyum sumbing mulut. " Tidakkah mu tahu, kalau berlaku gerhana matahari, ada pertandanya. Ahli saing, fizik serta ahli falsafah termasuk ahli silat menyatakang apabila berlaku gerhana matahari telor akang berdiri tegak. Ambe dah check sendiri tadi kat dapor, ambe belek berkali2, ternyata telor ambe normal, berkedudukang seperti biasa, tidak tegak, cuma batangnya saja sedikit naik menahang kencing. Ertinya, tidak berlaku gerhana.". Jawab guru tok sambil menyilangkan kakinya dan bergoyang2.

" Teehehehee...Laaa...tuan guru.

Wajah guru tok tiba2 berubah merah seperti sotong mengawan menahan klimaks.

" Using...biar betul? Jadi, sia2 lah ambe hampir setengah jang di dapor belek telor ambe...err..kalau gitu, moh kite ke sana...kita doh lewat ni..". Kata guru tok sambil laju keluar pintu dapor sambil menarik tangan tok menuju ke kereta mewahnya.

" Ok..ok..jom tuan guru..teeheheee..". Tok masih menahan ketawa membayangkan peristiwa di dapor sebentar tadi. - Tok Usin

Muafakat Nasional UMNO-PAS tu wayang kulit saja...

Kalau tengok wayang kulit, watak-wataknya bukan main hebat; sri ramo, sita dewi, hanuman ikan, hanuman kero putih, wak long, pok dogol, samad, wok yoh.... bukan ada apa pun, kulit kerbau je.

Muafakat Nasional hanya berlaku waktu pilihanraya kecil je....

Undi MCA kawan kita..!!!"

Tontowi dah mula bengang kat MCA. Jangan la marah kat MCA lebai,
nanti sorang pun org Tg Piai tak lepas ke mekah lagi ni. Nanti MCA tarik balik janji tu...

Sampaikan masa berdehem sebelum tubik suara, berdehem pun tiru gaya Haji Hadi... Memang sebijik sunggoh...... Saja je cerita, bukan nak kata orang tua tu hebat, tidak...! hebat apa, barang tak dapat pahala pun... Haji Hadi bukannya nabi nak ikut sunnah dia sampai setara tu.

Azman Shapawi, Nasrudin Tantawi, Mokhtar Senik....

Awang

Dong Zong tak mau jawi
takut masuk Islam?...

Toksah laa menipu sampai mcm tu. Berpuluh tahun anak2 Cina dok dengar azan paling kurang 2 kali sehari, tak de pun mereka berduyun2 masuk Islam. Cari alasan cerdik sikit laa kalau nak menipu kami tu. Walaupun mereka tahu bahasa Melayu bahasa rasmi dlm Perlembagaan.

Ana bukan rasis malah ana benci rasis. Mat Dan tak rasa hina mempelajari nilai keMelayuan. Kalau ana jadi Menteri, ana dah bagi kerakyatan kpd Mat Dan. Ciri rakyat Malaysia ada pada beliau.

Apa yg pasti alasan takut masuk Islam Dong Zong tu boleh bagi kat walaun PAS aje. Mereka walak. Lihat sajalah MCA. Walaun tak berbunyi sepatah pun dgn MCA dlm isu jawi. Semuanya setelah lebai2 PAS menjadi khadam lelongan. Kejap MCA, kejap MIC, PRK Kimanis nanti khadam UMNO pulak. Kerusi sendiri tak bertanding.

Tetiba dia nak jadi hero la konon.
Sekali MCA jeling baru tau - f/bk

Sebenarnya kerajaan ada kaedah utk memaksa rakyat belajar jawi. Mulakan dgn menukar semua tulisan pada borang kerajaan kpd tulisan jawi. Urusan di kaunter2 kerajaan adalah dlm tulisan jawi. Lepas tu tukar papan tanda jalan kpd tulisan jawi. Bila dah sampai tahap mcm ni, secara automatik rakyat akan belajar jawi, kerana terpaksa. Betul tak? Tapi untuk apa? Melayu sendiri pun ada yg tak reti membaca jawi. Siapa yg bepuluh tahun memerintah tak terapkan pendidikan jawi? PH? DAP? PAS? Itu khadam

Habis bergaduh satu negara hanya kerana membantah jenis tulisan bukan sesuatu yg cerdik. Kenapa sebelum ini tak de pun nak gaduh isu jawi? Hadi Awang siap salahkan UMNO lagi kerana menghapuskan jawi tp tak de laa sampai nak berkongres berhimpun bagai.

Bergaduh sebab tulisan jawi? Kelakar weh. Yg dok bergaduh nak sangat jawi tu pun baca jawi merangkak cam biawak pasir. - Dr Ariff Kadir Al-Katami

No photo description available.
Aku sendiri sebenarnya nak dengar apa pandangan depa biarpun aku tak setuju....

Bantah Jawi tapi business farmasinya guna Jawi,

! Dakwa dan Penjara siapa saja kelompok Ashabiyah yg buat ucapan Perkauman dan hasutan.. tak kira Cina, tak kira Melayu..termasuk yg sebarkan berita Palsu dan kebencian.. - Ipohmali

Mahathir must step down in 2020...

2019 will be gone in a few days, and 2020 is upon us. I am sighing as we approach a new decade because it is not getting any better.

In fact, it is getting from bad to worse. This has to stop. And we, as Malaysians, have to stop it before the situation reaches a critical level, if it has not already.

We have been very tolerant of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. We have been giving him too much leeway to do what he wants over the past 19 months.

We took it all in, possibly out of respect and reverence for our 94-year-old leader. Despite our many disagreements with him on numerous issues, we kept telling ourselves that surely, Mahathir could not be worse than his predecessor and that Pakatan Harapan is definitely a much safer bet than BN.

We were hoping, perhaps hoping against hope, that Mahathir only has a few more months to go before he steps down for good. By May 2020, his interim two years as prime minister will be up.

Respect the mandate given by the rakyat...

Now, we are not sure whether our tolerance of the grand old man has paid off. Perhaps we have been taken for a ride as Mahathir seems to have gone back to his old dictatorial ways – thinking that he is always right – while others, his critics, in particular, are wrong.

Well, he had also gone on record to brag to the Financial Times last month that “at the moment, maybe he remains the only person able to run Malaysia”.

Let me repeat that a leader’s self-aggrandisement could prove disastrous to the political health of a nation, and this is a cause for concern. It is important to remind Mahathir again (even if he doesn’t bother to listen) that his interim premiership was for two years.

All of us heard it loud and clear going into GE14. Only Mahathir and a few of his acolytes and sycophants were either deaf then or choose to be deaf now.

Of late, what I find to be a very serious fault of our prime minister is that he has turned into an instigator of sorts. And that poses a grave danger to the core of our survival as a nation – racial tolerance and harmony in plural Malaysia.

We expect Mahathir, as our supreme commander, to protect the very cornerstone of our multi-ethnicity, not to instigate and cause tension. This is what he seems to be most adept at in recent times, and it is worrying.

On Dec 20, Mahathir warned that the Chinese Organisations Congress organised by the Chinese educationist group Dong Zong and Jiao Zong (Dong Jiao Zong) would lead to chaos. He said the Malay groups would react in a “very Malay way” when such a congress is organised.

“(If) they wanted to do something that is very Chinese, the Malays’ response will be very Malay, (including) asking Chinese schools to be closed. You do that kind of thing (Chinese congress), and you will get a reaction,” Mahathir said.

I was shocked and dumbfounded at hearing the prime minister’s remarks. What kind of warning is that? I consider it an instigation.

The last person who should harp on such perceived feelings of racial animosity is the prime minister. What on earth was Mahathir thinking? That is hate speech in its very essence. Mahathir recently described the Chinese educationist group as racist.

DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang attempted to downplay concerns that the Dong Jiao Zong Congress will lead to chaos. The Iskandar Puteri MP said this is providing that there are no “anti-Malay” or “anti-constitution” elements at the upcoming congress on Dec 28.

I think Mahathir would have noted the seriousness of his careless words if Kit Siang (above) has just picked up the phone and tell the prime minister to stop adding fuel to the fire, instead of issuing a press statement in response to Mahathir’s warning on the congress.

Why? Doesn’t the Harapan presidential council discuss criticism against the prime minister or the government at all? Or don’t they talk anymore that they have to respond to each other via press statements?

Mahathir owes Kit Siang due respect, if not a favour, for it is no secret that without Kit Siang’s persuasion and persistence, DAP would not have joined forces with Mahathir prior to GE14.

Without Kit Siang and DAP, Mahathir would just be an ordinary pensioner today living out the rest of his twilight years. Wee Ka Siong is right to tell Mahathir to stop offending major international powers, particularly at a time of economic uncertainty.

Many of us will surely agree with the MCA president. Over the past months, our prime minister seemed to enjoy picking fights with other countries without realising the consequences of his actions.

On record, Mahathir has offended India, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States and more recently, Saudi Arabia (meaning the Muslim world) by hosting the Kuala Lumpur Summit which many described as “meaningless and a waste of time and resources”.

In light of the diplomatic disasters caused by Mahathir, from which Malaysia has suffered as a result, I keep wondering what must be in the mind of our prime minister when he opens his mouth like a trigger-happy gunslinger from the Wild, Wild West.

Mahathir has successfully produced, directed and acted in many political scripts at home, but on the international stage, our prime minister had better watch his big mouth and his steps, which have since turned wobbly and unsteady, judging from the numerous brickbats for his remarks against friendly nations. Malaysia just cannot afford to have a leader who seems to be fond of playing instigator, both at home and abroad. He must go in 2020.

As a Malaysiakini reader commented: “How can one man ( Mahathir) cause so much damage to this country in such a short time? We must learn from Britain that the prime minister cannot do what he likes. I hope Mahathir resigns as soon as possible or the MPs can call for a vote of no confidence in him.”

May I add that I hope the day will not come when Malaysians have to take to the streets to demand that Mahathir steps aside. Mahathir has to go in 2020 and we must make sure that the transition takes place by May 9, the date we were promised and which must be kept. No ifs, no buts! - FRANCIS PAUL SIAH,mk

Image may contain: text

Bukan setakat kos perkahwinan mewah, perbelanjaan melancong pun melebihi RM300 ribu!

Image may contain: 1 person, wedding and outdoor

Image may contain: text

To Be Going Out Of Fashion? terbitan Sarawak Report.)

Elaun kritikal...gomen PH dalam kritikal...

Isu elaun BIPK ditarik balik ni satu benda yang dekat dengan hati orang ramai. Terutama penjawat awam.

BIPK bermaksud Bayaran Insentif Perkhidmatan Kritikal.

Selalu oncall macam doktor, nurse. Rupanya bukan tu saja kriterianya.

Yelah, diperkenalkan tahun 1992.

Masa tu mana ramai graduan doktor, engineer ni semua. Jadi kerajaan masa tu perkenalkanlah bayaran insentif ni.

Oleh kerana ia bukan elaun tetap maka setiap beberapa tahun dikaji sehingga lah tahun terkini, 2019. Sekarang penjawatan kurang, tapi ramai graduan menunggu.

Alhamdulillah. Selesai masalah.

Saya baru lepas berbincang dengan YAB PM berkenaan isu “Allowance Critical”.‬
‪Alhamdulillah.

Ok habis bab BIPK...

Lets go to next issue, siapa yang cadang, siapa yang ada dalam meeting dan sebagainya.
Actually jumlah penjawat awam ni sebenarnya dah tak sustain dah untuk 10 tahun akan datang. Maka, sebab tu kita dah kurangkan political appointee sampai ramai². Malah penjawatan baru pun kita kurangkan bukan bermakna buang orang tapi penjawatan dikurangkan.

Kata Tun "Jangan lah tarik apa apa, nanti orang marah".

Banyak lagi cara nak buat nak jimat lah. Buat paperless ke, kurangkan bajet stationery sampai juta juta tu ke? Atau pun buat dasar penjimatan elektrik, atau potong gaji pegawai tinggi kerajaan. Yelah gaji KSN lagi tinggi dari gaji PM kan? Turus semua tu? Elok potong je.

Happy...elaun tak dipotong...

Okay habis bab tu.

Seperti kata Tun, “jangan kasi orang marah.” - Adam Mukhriz Mohd Muhayeddin

The year of living dangerously...

2019 was a tricky year for PH. After winning the election the previous year, the pressure was on full steam for the new government to meet the high expectations of the electorate. Perhaps a resounding success was never realistic, but when you belt out a tune that is so different from what’s written on the song sheet, then there's no choice but to face the music.

In quick succession, PH wavered on repatriation of 1MDB’s stolen cash, dithered on punishing the criminals responsible, withered in each of the parliamentary by-elections, and most importantly, haven’t delivered on economic fulfilment of the Rakyat.

The list goes on, but suffice it to say the missed opportunities have weakened the coalition’s stability, stunted foreign investment, encouraged the opposition, and discounted the government’s credibility.

This is a dangerous cocktail as we head to the mid-way point of PH’s maiden term. The same concurrence of outliers that converged to sink BN in GE14 could potentially do the same for PH in GE15.

Still, before you cork the bubbly and smother the sparklers, there is still reason to hope in 2020, which has now become a make or break year for PH -- and for Bersatu and PKR in particular.

After fumbling through much of last year, it is imperative the administration take decisive action in the coming year in order to give itself enough runway to showcase definitive results ahead of the general election in 2023.

This includes clarity on many of the big debates that fill the digital newsprint and social media, namely, those of leadership succession, economic vision, digital transformation, recouping stolen funds from the 1MDB conspirators, and hunting down, prosecuting and jailing the criminals involved.

This means direction from the top on prioritising objectives, and discipline amongst the ranks in achieving them. This isn’t the time to get sidetracked on pie-in-the-sky schemes around flying cars; rather, it means grass roots common sense policy around curbing inflation, increasing knowledge workers, enhancing food security, and most importantly setting a generational course for transforming Malaysia from a low-cost manufacturing economy to a high wages innovation one.

Indeed, this was the very objective laid out for the country in the 1990’s by the then (and now) Prime Minister in his Vision 2020 program. Let us use the year 2020 to set us on the path towards this destination, even if takes us a generation to achieve it.

We played with fire to get the chance to build a new Malaysia, and achieved what many thought was impossible. No doubt there will be critical challenges ahead, as the opposition turns up the dial on divisive identity politics and we look down the barrel of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. 2020 is the year to walk tall and carry a big stick, for, truly, fortune favours the bold. Happy New Year, Malaysia, may we enjoy the peace and prosperity we all deserve in the year ahead! - Dr. Rais Hussin Mohamed

27 December 2019

Jangan makan gaji buta...

Image result for Gobind Singh Deo

16.  Kelemahan dan kegagalan beliau sebagai Menteri Komunakasi dan Maltimedia menyakinkan lagi rakyat terhadap usaha Pembangkang ; sekali gus menyebabkan segala hasrat murni Perdana Menteri menjadi  sia - sia sahaja

22.  'Sudah Kalah Baru Berkubu'
       'Sudah Kecuria Baru Mengunci Pintu'
'Jangan Selepas Kuda Dah  Terlepas ,
        Baru Nak Tutup Pintu Stabil'

23.  SEMOGA   LAGU  DENDANGAN  AHMAD  JAIS  ( Alfatihah )
'Harapan Kecewa' TIDAK  MENJADI  KENYATAAN  - Tamrin Tun Ghafar

Giving the enemy bullets...

There are concerns that it can lead to chaos. I am talking about the Chinese Organisations Congress planned for 28 December. But I’m sure Dong Zong have their reasons for wanting to hold the congress, and I’m not going to comment whether they are right or wrong in wanting to hold it. Instead, I’ll present what we know up till now.

To DAP’s P. Ramasamy, the Chinese educationist group has the “legitimate and democratic” right to organise the congress. DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said there is no basis for the fear that the congress will lead to chaos “if it is not anti-Malay or anti-Constitution”. Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, the MCA president, calls it a “gathering”. He said the gathering is about vernacular education, not race.

Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad said the Malays will react in a very Malay way”. There are people who are not happy with what the PM said, but I don’t think the PM was issuing a “veiled threat”. Mahathir said there could be repercussions as the congress “will only result in Malays having their congress and talking about closing down Chinese schools and all that. You do that kind of thing, you will get reaction”.

I risk being labelled a “Mahathir apologist” but I’ll say it anyway. The PM is being realistic because for every action there will be reaction. He is being real.

Well known author Nathaniel Tan writing for MalaysiaKini recently said the prime minister’s prediction “that this congress was likely to elicit an unpleasant reaction from more extremist Malay Muslim groups is likely an accurate one”. And here’s the thing. Many Malaysians, including a number of Chinese, are not keen in seeing the Chinese Organisations Congress take place this 28 December or on any other date for that matter.

Many, again including Chinese, see the congress as a protest against the introduction of three pages of Jawi lessons for standard four pupils which is “no more a big issue” although most of them agree the character of vernacular schools “should be preserved”. I am not going to comment on that either.

I’ll just say this. When the Jawi issue erupted many hardline Malay groups have made demands that the government close down vernacular schools. Come to think of it even before the Jawi controversy such demands they have made. The groups have never liked vernacular schools, in particular Chinese schools, deeming them “anti-national aspirations.”

Now they are repeating their call, and they are becoming more vocal and should I say “vicious”. I don’t intend to repeat what have been or are being said. Take a look at comments on social media and you’ll know what I mean. They are alleging that Dong Zong and allies are bent on creating trouble over “only three pages” of Jawi lessons. They say Dong Zong is being kurang ajar, or very rude!

The sad part is that the entire Chinese community is made up to be or accused of being kurang ajar as well. The fact there are Chinese who are not supportive of any of Dong Zong’s move is conveniently forgotten. Worst still, there are Malays who have all the while been fair minded and anti-racism are taken in by the kurang ajar rhetoric. What more with Dong Zong seen as adamant in wanting to hold its congress.

In short, plan in organising the congress is aggravating matters. The hardline or extremist Malay groups are finding support from Malays who in the first place are against them. As I see it, by holding the congress Dong Zong is giving their enemies ammunition i.e. giving bullets to shoot back at not only themselves (Dong Zong) but the Chinese community as well.

Now we are hearing of a leader from PAS Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali quoted by Malay Mail Online a few days ago talking on the possibility of the Seafield temple trouble, unless the Chinese organisation congress is stopped. He wants the police to act to “avoid a repeat of the 2017 riots at the Sri Maha Mariamman Hindu temple in Subang Jaya”.

I’m sure many agree that the PAS leader should not have said what he said. Now even if (this is a big IF) Dong Zong has wanted to call off the congress, Khairuddin’s statement is making it hard for them lest they be accused of “kowtowing” to PAS, thus losing face. And in Chinese or rather Asian culture, losing face is a big deal. Still the interest of country must take precedence over anything else, losing face included.

Anyway, perhaps Wee could give Khairuddin some sort of advice as the MCA is on talking terms with PAS via Muafakat Nasoinal although it is not a member of the pact up till now. But now there are media reports that another congress opposed to Jawi khat will be held by a group calling itself Sekat, after the Dong Zong’s congress.
