Mansor bertanding dua kerusi?

Penang DCM Mansor to contest Nibong Tebal...
Anwar Ibrahim has named Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman as PKR's candidate for the Nibong Tebal parliamentary seat.
The seat was won by Tan Tee Beng at the 2008 general election but soon fell out with PKR and quit the party a year later to become an independent MP.
Tan (right), who is a former state Gerakan Youth leader, subsequently joined Kita but was unceremoniously sacked from the party early this year. Kita was formed by another PKR defector, Zaid Ibrahim.
"I apologise for Tan as I chose him. This time we will choose someone who is tested and with experience," Anwar told the 2,000 crowd at a packed ceramah in Sungai Udang last night.
Mansor is likely to contest against state Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman, who was Nibong Tebal MP. Zainal Abidin lost the seat to Tan by a 3,087 margin in 2008.
"Since we are facing the state Umno chief, we will send out state PKR chief Mansor to contest here," said Anwar as the crowd roared.
"We want Mansor to help us out when we win Putrajaya in the coming general election."
Will Mansor contest two seats?
With Mansor, who is Penanti state assemblyperson, going for a parliament seat, it is up in the air whether he would be dropped as deputy chief minister should Pakatan retain Penang.
However, the former university lecturer could be fielde in two seats - defend his Penanti state seat as well as to wrest back Nibong Tebal.
Mansor was recently embroiled in a controversy when a leaked audio recording of a closed-door meeting was first exposed in a blog and later aired on TV3.
The audio of the meeting held in March among several PKR local leaders revealed Mansor describing Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as cocky, arrogant and a "tokong" (deity).
Other leaders who spoke at last night's ceramah included Lim, Mansor, state PKR deputy chief Law Choo Kiang and Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin.- malaysiakini
PAS ready to rule M'sia with Pakatan, declares Hadi...
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today declared at the party’s last muktamar before the general election that it is prepared to take federal power with its Pakatan Rakyat allies.
“PAS is ready to accept the responsibility as a component of the federal government or state governments together with Pakatan Rakyat in the next general election.
“We believe with the support of the rakyat and the PAS membership comprising of various areas of expertise along with technocrats that can work with a PAS and Pakatan Rakyat government, we are ready to fulfill a greater responsibility,” he said.
Abdul Hadi (left) added during his keynote speech at the 58th national PAS muktamar at the Pusat Islam Tarbiyah Kelantan in Kota Baru this morning that the party will continue to focus on common ground in upholding tahaluf siyasi (political consensus) with Pakatan Rakyat.
“PAS conducts tahaluf siyasi with an understanding that Pakatan Rakyat upholds the concept of commonality and not focus on differences,” he said.
He added that the party will uphold the coalition’s common policy framework under the banner of Buku Jingga.
“Other than pushing together with Pakatan Rakyat as outlined in the Buku Jingga, PAS would also like to expand its commitment to rectify the damage that has been inflicted on the nation if it is given the chance to hold Putrajaya,” he said.
He said that the coalition will unveil a specific manifesto at an appropriate time.
However, he reminded the 1,116 delegates present that even with this tahaluf siyasi with Pakatan Rakyat, they must abide by PAS’ constitution.
“This tahaluf siyasi should not make us lose sight of PAS members’ understanding towards the concept of Fiqh al-Taat (loyalty) to the party,” he said.
Striking a conciliatory tone, Abdul Hadi said PAS will not seek vengeance if it captures federal power.
“PAS’ commitment gives a guarantee that all levels of state and federal machinery will not be oppressed or taken revenge upon because they will execute the policies of the government of the day elected by the people,” he said.- malaysiakini
