Taklimat polis sentuh Suaram, BERSIH, PSM
Police told school kids Bersih, Suaram and PSM are evil...
A police briefing on crime at a primary Tamil school in Semenyih, Selangor yesterday turned into a lesson in the purported evils of Suaram, Bersih and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), alleged PSM secretary general S Arutchelvan.
According to Arutchelvan's police report lodged yesterday, the briefing for about 70 parents and their children - mostly 12 years old and below - was organised by the local Hindu Sangam branch and SJK (T) Ladang Semenyih Parents-Teachers Association.
"Parents who attended (the event) informed us there was a slide presentation by two police officers - part of it was about crime but there were also information against Suaram, Bersih and PSM," he said when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Among others, Arutchelvan (right) alleged that the police told the attendees that PSM is linked to the outlawed Communist Party of Malaya, that PSM's aim is to revive the communist ideology and that the party is under police watch.
The police also said that coalition for clean and fair elections Bersih 2.0 is a "useless activity which caused a lot of strife for the rakyat".
Arutchelvan said he lodged the report to make the police cease such activities.
"I don't expect the police to investigate themselves, but this police report is to ask them to stop what they are doing," he said.
"I have no problems if the police want to speak on the dangers of drug abuse, crime and gangsterism... but the police crossed the line (by) twisting facts, committing slander and allowing themselves to be BN's propaganda tool."
Arutchelvan said that he will be giving his statement at the Kajang police station today.
'May 13 caused by DAP'
According to Semenyih PSM secretary P Pop Sundararajan, during the police's presentation, slides were shown to portray that Bersih had created "havoc in the country" and that human rights NGO Suaram had "received funds from outside (the country) to create chaos locally".
"They also spoke about the Tamil Tigers, whom they said were terrorists, and focussed on the EO6 (six PSM leaders, including an MP, who were detained under the Emergency Ordinance in the run-up to Bersih 2.0 last year).
"They linked PSM to the Bukit Kepong communist insurgency (of the 1950s) to say that PSM's aim is to bring communism back to Malaysia," he said.
Rajan added that several parents who related the incident to PSM also claimed that the presentation contained slides on the May 13 racial riots, where the police allegedly pinned the blame on DAP.
"They said May 13 was about DAP versus Umno, and that it was caused by the DAP so they (the Chinese) would go against the Malays," he said.- malaysiakini
