Rafizi dakwa kesan pengundi hantu...
- fmt
Beware of phantom voters, Rafizi warns...
The Permatang Pauh by-election may see phantom
voters making their appearance tomorrow, claims PKR secretary-general
Rafizi Ramli.
Umno workers have gone house-to-house to distribute voting slips listing
the names of voters registered at the particular houses, Rafizi told a
press conference today.
"After
the house owners obtained these slips, we received complaints from two
owners that they did not know who the other names on the slips were," he
said.
After he visited a unit at Permata Apartment, he was told by the owner
that a person called "Sakinah Ahmad" was registered there as well.
"But the owner told me that she has lived there since the apartment was
completed 14 years ago and it was never rented to anyone else.
"The owner said she did not know who this Sakinah is and asked how was
Sakinah then registered as a voter at her apartment unit," said Rafizi.
Rafizi said checks conducted by Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin showed that "Sakinah" is registered as a voter in Jelutong, Penang.
The
owner of another apartment unit claimed that a "Nur Fadilawaty Hanafi",
as well as five other unknown voters, were registered at his home
address.
"Just like the other owner, he has lived there for 14 years and had never rented out the unit to anyone," Rafizi said.
The PKR vice-president added there was a high possibility that the names were registered using fake MyKad.
He pointed out that this was not the first time that such a thing had
occurred. The Pandan MP had, back during the 2013 general election,
lodged six police reports on claims of phantom voters registered in his
constituency.
Although Rafizi admitted that no action was taken based on the police
reports, he said it was simply not right to let such a thing re-occur.
"It has to be highlighted all over again. If BN continues to do this,
the people need to know that dirty tactics will reign supremely
tomorrow," he said.
Rafizi is certain the EC will not act
Admitting that he was certain the Election Commission (EC) would not do
anything about this, while the BN would deny such claims, Rafizi
therefore appealed to "peace-loving voters" to come out in full force
tomorrow.
"As for anyone who receives such slips, please contact our headquarters
so that we can collect and submit the names to the authorities," he
said.
Rafizi added that the details of both Sakinah and Nur Fadilawaty would
be distributed to the PKR by-election helpers who would try to catch
them at their voting centre tomorrow .
Both names stated on the slips will be voting at SMK Permatang Rawa.
"Based on our experience, they will run away from us and won't vote.
"If they don't run away, we will take them to the police station. We
just want to make a point, for we are not expecting the authorities to
take the action," Rafizi added. - mk
Rafizi - Police told me criticising GST is seditious...
Police told PKR's Rafizi Ramli that criticising the goods and services tax (GST) was seditious, the party secretary-general said last night when he told a ceramah crowd in Permatang Pauh of his arrest after the May 1 Workers Day rally.
Rafizi, who was detained for his involvement in the rally against the GST in Kuala Lumpur, said he was told that what he had said in his speech at the rally was seditious.
"The police told me I was investigated under the Sedition Act, as my speech had criticised the GST. Now I know that according to the government of Malaysia, it is seditious to criticise the GST," Rafizi said.
The consumption tax has been the focus of PKR's campaign in the Permatang Pauh by-election. The opposition party is banking on public unhappiness with the tax to ensure it retains the seat, which its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is contesting.
As part of her campaign, Dr Wan Azizah went shopping at a supermarket followed by the media to show how much more people had to spend because of the tax when buying basic necessities.
PKR also held a lobster party, dishing out grilled lobsters to passers-by in the constituency to poke fun at the implementation of the tax, which is not imposed on lobsters, considered a luxury food item.
Rafizi also said he was told by police that criticising the prime minister was seditious.
"Next, he said my speech criticised the prime minister. So that is also not allowed now. It is also seditious.
"And I also shouted 'hidup rakyat' (long live the people) many times.
"So after this, we have to say 'mampus rakyat' (damn the people)," he told the crowd at the Seberang Jaya expo site while on the campaign trail for the parliamentary by-election to be held this Thursday.
The rest of Rafizi's ceramah speech was full of sarcasm as he praised the consumption tax and said positive things about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and the Finance Ministry-owned strategic investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
He also quipped that the Permatang Pauh by-election was being held because Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was "on holiday" in the Sungai Buloh prison. The opposition leader had to vacate the parliamentary seat after the Federal Court upheld his sodomy conviction and five-year prison sentence in February.
"If I talk like this, I couldn't get arrested right?" Rafizi said, adding that it was "easy to get arrested these days".
Rafizi was detained on May 2, a day after the rally, when he went to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters to give his statement on his involvement in the protest which drew an estimated 10,000 people to the heart of the capital.
He is being investigated under Section 143 of the Penal Code for unlawfully assembly, as well as the Sedition Act. He was released later at night on the same day.
Besides Rafizi, other opposition politicians arrested over the rally include PKR's Batu MP Chua Tian Chang or Tian Chua, PAS MP for Kuala Kerai Dr Hatta Ramli, DAP's Seremban MP Anthony Loke, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and Parti Sosialis Malaysia secretary-general S. Arutchelvan.
A few activists were also arrested, the most high profile being Negara-Ku patron and former president of the Malaysian Bar Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan.
Twenty-nine youths, six of whom were minors, were the first group of people to be arrested hours after the rally ended peacefully on Friday. The minors were released the next day but police have obtained remand orders of the 23 others, who are expected to be released today.- tmi
Permatang Pauh Utamakan Personaliti...
Beliau memperoleh 66.64 peratus undi manakala Arif Shah mendapat hanya 33.16 peratus.
- A Kadir Jasin
Kadir: By-elections can’t gauge national sentiment
Muhyidin knows Mahathir's endorsement is no manna from heaven...
If we study Dr Mahathir, he has made repeated mistakes in offering a successor. This means in UMNO there is no succession plan.At least from his time onwards.
Everyone of his number 2 will be kicked out for one reason or another. Musa Hitam who was once touted as Mahathir’s double- I wonder if people still remembered the 2-M administration- he left citing irreconcilable differences. What he meant was Mahathir was too autocratic.
Then came in Ghafar Baba- who left almost forgotten, also whispered for doing so at Mahathir’s manoeuvrings. Mahathir was besotted with Anwar then.
Until today, the memorial Tun Ghafar remains on a giant billboard but not in actual presence.
Anwar Ibrahim was the other casualty. He was replaced by Pak Lah- generally accepted as the most incompetent PM.
Finally we are saddled with the current PM- a man chosen by Mahathir on account on his being Tun Razak’s progeny. Now, our current PM is being described as the most incompetent and the most hated PM in our history.
That proves your bloodline and progeny are not relevant in succeeding as leader.
Dr Mahathir can point out the bad qualities of a successor but he is hopeless when it comes to identifying the successor. That is the main reason while we allow him to point out deficiencies of any current leader, he must abstain from choosing one.
If he now chooses Muhyidin for instance- there is a higher probability, Muhyidin will fall short off the mark. So don’t choose Muhyidin and Muhyidin knows Mahathir's endorsement is no manna from heaven.
That is the reason why Muhyidin is playing hide and seek. There has been no open endorsement on Muhyidin’s replacing Najib and so Muhyidin hasn’t rushed out openly.
But Muhyidn has committed the sin to show that he is aligned to Mahathir's thinking. Fatal mistake. Najib’s people do not trust Muhyidin despite making all those farcical kiss and make up in public shows.
Muhyidin knows this and his people, though eager to see the boss takes over are restrained.
Mahathir’s so called endorsement on Muhyidin is in the form of some vague reference to the equally non-committal idea of according to UMNO hierarchy system- the number 2 is the one to replace the number 1 if the latter is incapacitated in any way.
Not only unclear but that has been the convention all the time and it failed every time because Mahathir endorsed the wrong candidate using the wrong means. The means, which is reliance on the UMNO tradition , must change precisely because it failed all the time.
To UMNO, that means choosing a leader who isn’t from the conventional line up. If there is a person more qualified than the number two, that person ought to be accepted.
Isn’t it a curious thing- that for the 1st time in our history, the opposition is endorsing someone from UMNO to become the PM? They should be asking and insisting that someone from their own circle to become PM.
People can say that’s because the opposition has no one of stature to become PM yet. That may be true, but the truer and more practical reason is, we all want a leader needed by Malaysia.
The opposition is keener to have a national leader committed to the idea of inclusive politics rather than a person, enmeshed in partisan politics. We want a leader that’s good for the business of this country.
The business of this country is to be a country founded on democratic means, upholding the rule of law. The country must remain structured by the institutions that support the existence of a democratic Malaysia as such.
The leader we need is a person unflinchingly committed to these principles. The opposition conducts itself responsibly and commits itself to what’s good for Malaysia.- Dato' Mohd.Ariff Sabri bin Hj. Abdul Aziz@sakmongkol ak47
cheers.
