PAS menang, tapi majoriti merosot...

Tahniah...

sg limau vote counting 041113 azam winCalon PAS, Mohd Azam Abd Samat (kanan) memperolehi 12,069 undi manakala calon BN, Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim mendapat 10,985 undi.

Sungai Limau rejects Mukhriz and BN,blames 'outsiders' for defeat...

Students who register as voters using the address of traditional Islamic schools in Sungai Limau constituency, but originate from elsewhere, have been blamed for BN's defeat in the by-election today.

Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir said this would explain why a rural area such as Bukit Besar would have a large amount of voters.

“We are aware that there are a lot of traditional schools in the area, but they shouldn't have hundreds of voters registered there,” he told reporters at the BN command centre at Sungai Kering.

Nevertheless, Mukhriz accepted the election results but questioned if this situation was democractic or fair to the bona fide locals.

“I don't want to question the results, but such questions have been raised,” he said.

PAS scored its biggest victory in the Bukit Besar voting district, bagging a 1,103 vote majority.

In all, PAS won only nine out of 19 voting districts, but it was enough for them to win the contest with a 1,084 majority.

EC: We had no choice

Despite the defeat, Mukhriz vowed that he will not ignore the Sungai Limau electorate and continue to fulfil BN's election pledges.

“We will continue with two projects. The first is the road from Guar Chempedak to Pulau Bunting. (Secondly,) the government is considering building a port in Pulau Bunting.

“Win or lose, we will do it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kedah PAS chief Mahfuz Omar had blamed the smaller majority achieved by his party on the fact that the Election Commission (EC) had chosen a working day for polling.

He said that a significant number of party supporters work in other states and were unable to make it for voting because it was difficult to obtain leave after the Aidilfitri break.

When ask about Mahfuz's complaints, EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the commission had no choice but to hold the election today.

He explained that the by-election must be held before the commencement of the SPM examination, which begins tomorrow.

“They have a right (to blame me)... or else you tell me how (could we have chosen a better date?)” he told reporters at SMK Agama Yan, the officially tallying centre.-malaysiakini

Meanwhile,PAS’s victory in the Sungai Limau by-election was a second loss for Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir in less than a month.

In the Sungai Limau by-election, Mukhriz threw himself into the campaign from the start.

He stayed in the constituency of mostly padi farmers and fishermen throughout the campaign, sometimes even spending the night on the floor of villagers’ homes.

He personally took the reins of the Umno machinery and even roped in his father and much-loved son of Kedah, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to help persuade voters to give BN a chance.

Even with a reduced majority, PAS succeeded in defending the seat from a spirited BN onslaught which had used agencies from the state and Federal Government in the campaign period.

BN’s loss also meant that the huge crowds at its Karnival Rakyat programmes all over the constituency did not translate into votes for the coalition.

It only served to drain the BN’s campaign funds when groceries such as sugar, rice and Milo were sold at bargain prices at the carnivals.

For instance, even though the BN Federal Government had scrapped the 34 sen sugar subsidy at the national level supposedly to deal with rising diabetes cases, sugar was sold at RM1 per kilogram at its Sungai Limau carnivals.

In other parts of the country, sugar is sold at RM2.84 per kg.

And although a 5-kg bag of rice was sold at RM5 in these carnivals, which took place in the PAS bastion of Bukit Besar, it failed to “buy votes” in Sungai Limau.-TMI

Wanita UMNO Officer...known simply as "SHIEDA", in a spat between UMNO and PAS supporters, claims that PAS Officer had...'PUNCHED' her...

UMNO/BN mainstream press ONLY shows her photo lying in an 'Ambulance' as seen from the photo here claiming she had to he 'rushed-off'...

UMNO/BN mainstream online press NEVER shows Ms. Shieda from UMNO...'CRYING' before being taken into the ambulance...

Sounds similar to a stunt gimmick once played by PUTERA UMNO's Chairman Abdul Azeez whom during the Ijok by-elections I believe, claimed to have been beaten by 30 people, later taking a photo of himself for mainstream press laying in-bed in some Private Hospital with a neck-brace only to show-up a the by elections a few days later WITHOUT a scratch.

Seems THIS remaining term, UMNO/BN is truly OUT of ideas and "RECYCLING OLD SCRIPTS"-f/bk

cheers.
