“Furthermore it is my view that BN has everything to lose no matter which way the decision goes….if Anwar wins, they lose, if Anwar loses, they lose.
“But above and beyond that, is the manner in which our system of justice is used to bring down political opponents.
“We will know whether they succeed yet again when the judgement is handed down.
“This judgement will not only be about Anwar .It will be about the whole justice system”, she told FMT.
Expressing her ‘grave’ concern over the case, she said that as far as she was concerned, this was a political prosecution or rather, political persecution of the leader of the Opposition.
The former Bar Council chairman, said people were more aware of the goings-on in the country now and believed that the Malaysians’ sense of fair play should not be underestimated.
“They too have seen the evidence unfold. They know what justice is and they certainly know what injustice is.
“They should not underestimate the dignity and strong sense of fair play of the Malaysian people,” she said.
Ambiga also raised concern over the effect of the case on Malaysian children.
“It is sad to see what they are putting one man (Anwar) through mainly because he is perceived as a threat.
“It is also unfortunate that our children have to read about Sodomy I and Sodomy II.
“Is this what we want to expose them to?” asked Ambiga.
