1. On the Rule of Law, Raja Nazrin said the constitution was the nation’s supreme law that guarantees fundamental liberties to every citizen. He said the cleverly crafted document clearly provides for adequate “checks and balances” against excesses through the separation of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches, with each protected from encroachment by the other.
2. On economic and social justice, Raja Nazrin said all groups in society, regardless of their ethnicities, religion or gender, must participate in decision-making that affect their lives and livelihood.
3. The third requisite for nation-building — good governance and a thriving civil society — Raja Nazrin said institutions of governance must demonstrate and generate norms and behaviours that are fundamentally efficient, productive and just.“Only those who are capable, responsible and scrupulously honest should be allowed to serve in positions of leadership. Those who are inefficient, incompetent and most importantly, corrupt, should be held in absolute contempt,” he said. - The Straits Times,5th August 2007
His royal highness Raja Nazrin spelt out 3 requisite for nation building during his keynote address at the inaugural Student Leaders’ Summit 2007. I think its time the gomen leaders especially those from UMNO undergoes a lesson on good governance during their BTN course and probably invite his royal highness Raja Nazrin to be their guest speaker.
At the rate thing are happening in Malaysia today with regards to good governance and civil society, it sad to say everything doesnt seems like what it is suppose to be.
Do you think that leaders like Mahathir,Pat Lah,Najib,Mohamad Md.Taib,Rafidah,Samy Vellu,Ong Kah Ting,Khir Toyo,Idris Jusoh,Shahidan Kasim,Isa Samad,Adnan Mansor,Rahim Thamby Chik,Ling Liong Sik,Taib Mahmud,Musa Aman and the list of BN/UMNO thieves goes on and on,really adhere to the principles of good governance?. Do they really uphold these three requisite for nation building? Only they knows the answer.
Its up to you to judge...
cheers.
