Geram kat Teresa Kok, ayam jadi mangsa...

– tmi

Teresa Kok’s service centre splashed with red paint, chicken carcass left at entrance...

Teresa Kok’s service centre was splashed with red paint and a chicken carcass was placed at her doorstep, barely two weeks after a coalition of Islamic NGOs offered a reward to anyone who dared to slap her.

Kok, who recently came under fire for allegedly insulting Islam and the Malay rulers in her Chinese New Year satirical video, was informed by the management of the building about 9.20am.

"They called me immediately after discovering what had been done," she said.

Conservative Muslim groups had previously slammed her video “Onederful Malaysia” and had offered a RM2000 reward to anyone who dared slap the DAP lawmaker.

In the protest held two weeks ago, the group also slaughtered two chickens and smeared the blood on a banner featuring Kok, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Machang Bubuk PKR assemblyman Lee Khai Loon, who was behind a flash mob mocking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over his “kangkung” remark.

The Seputeh MP and six others lodged police reports against the demonstrators, but Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had brushed off Kok's concerns, saying that a slap cannot be considered a threat.

Police have already questioned four members of the group involved in the protest.

Kok believed  that today's incident was the latest connected to her controversial “Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014” video.

"Various allegations have been hurled at me ever since the video was released. This is the work of irresponsible parties which have spun and twisted the facts of the video.

"There is no mention of any race whatsoever in the video, yet there have been allegations that I have insulted other races. These irresponsible parties are twisting the facts to fan racial sentiments against me," she said.

Though threatened, Kok said she's working as usual and is relying on her colleagues to ensure her safety when she is at functions.

"Many members of public have expressed concern for my safety," said Kok, adding that she's not considering hiring bodyguards as it is "troublesome".

Kok, who is the DAP national vice-chairperson, praised the police for being prompt in arriving at the scene together with forensic personnel.

The forensic unit dusted the scene for fingerprints and also took away the chicken carcass.
There was no closed-circuit television video surveillance at the area where the incident occurred.

"I urge these irresponsible parties to stop all these acts which are a threat against my person," Kok said.

Building manager Emily Sim said an office worker who arrived to open the service centre discovered the red paint and chicken carcass along with a picture of Kok printed on an A4-sized paper.

"The worker informed me and I rushed to the centre before lodging a police report over the incident," said Sim.

Kok’s service centre is on the fourth floor of a shoplot at the Sri Desa Entrepreneur's Park along Jalan Kuchai Lama.

Sim also revealed that on February 5, the sixth day of Chinese New Year, a wreath was left near Kok's service centre.

Racial attacks ratchet up pressure in Penang...

Penang Pakatan Rakyat leaders have lodged a police report over another provocative Facebook page which alleges that DAP parliamentarian Steven Sim had thrown a piece of pork into the compound of a mosque in Bukit Mertajam.

The page, with the headline ‘Boycott DAP Chinese Goods’ also shows a photo of Sim under a caption stating ‘Chinese threw pork into the Bukit Mertajam mosque’.

"This is slanderous and provocative," Sim told reporters after lodging the report at the Bandar Perda police station today.

He was accompanied by the DAP’s Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari and PKR’s Seberang Jaya assemblyperson Dr Afif Bahardin.

Sim claimed that there is a conspiracy to undermine the Pakatan-led state government by creating racial tension both in Penang, listing a chronology of events to back his assertion.

Jan 18: At a pro-BN rally in Seberang Jaya, protestors carried a banner stating ‘Because of DAP leaders mouths, May 13 happened. Want some more?’.

Jan 26: Banners with the words ‘Allah is Great, Jesus son of Allah’ were found outside five churches, including one in Butterworth.

Jan 27: Two molotov cocktails were thrown into the compound of the Church of the Assumption in Farquhar Street.

Feb 16: A slab of meat, suspected to be pork was thrown into the compound of a mosque in Cherok Tokun.

Feb 18: An Umno member tweeted information from an anonymous blog that falsely claimed the Penang government is mulling a ban on the Friday sermon in mosques.

'Evil conspiracy'

Sim said it is obvious that this is the work of those “envious of Penang's development under Pakatan since 2008, and how different ethnic groups here live in harmony with one another".

He said the state government has, for example, increased allocations for Islamic affairs.

"These enemies of the state are so desperate that they have come up with an evil conspiracy to create racial tension," said Sim.

Sim urged the police, including Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, to pay special attention to these developments and the reports that have been lodged.

"The police can no longer view these cases lightly but step up their probe into the incidents and nab the culprits immediately," he added. - malaysiakini
