As the frogs jump,Perak gomen falls..........

Najib Tun Razak told reporters this evening that the Perak Pakatan Rakyat government had collapsed and that the BN had obtained a simple majority to form the new state government.

He said Behrang assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, Changkat Jering assemblyman Mohd Osman Jailu and t Jelapang assembly member, Hee Yit Foong of DAP, had left their respective parties while Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasaruddin Hashim who left BN to join Pakatan Rakyat a week ago had returned to Umno today.

He added that they had given him the mandate to appoint a new Menteri Besar and he would seek an audience with the Sultan of Perak to form a new state government soon.

Following the latest developments, the BN now has 28 seats, Pakatan Rakyat 28, independents, three, but according to Najib, although the BN and Pakatan Rakyat had the same number of seats, the BN could set up the state government because all the three independent assemblymen had expressed their support for the BN, including in the matter of appointment of a menteri besar from among BN members.

Earlier today, in an unprecedented move amid mounting political uncertainty in the state, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin announced an immediate dissolution to the State Legislative Assembly prior to obtaining the consent of the Sultan of Perak.

Speaking at a news conference in his office at 3pm, Mohammad Nizar said, the state legislative assembly had been dissolved, effective immediately, and that he would seek an audience with Sultan Azlan Shah for his consent.

He said the state government had no option but to ask for the royal consent to dissolve the legislative assembly following mounting political uncertainty after two Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) assemblymen declared that they were now Independent assemblymen.

Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin also failed to secure consent from Sultan Azlan Shah to dissolve the state assembly in his last ditch attempt to have fresh polls and head off BN's attempt to seize power.

“The decision is now with the Sultan,” Nizar told reporters after an audience with Sultan Azlan Shah. Lets wait for the His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak to decide whether to dissolve the Legislative Assembly or not. A dissolution means new elections in Perak.

If the Sultan refuses to dissolve the Perak Legislative Assembly, then the Menteri Besar who ceases to command the confidence of the majority shall tender his own resignation and the resignation of the rest of the Executive Council..

With the defections to BN, the PR will only have 28 seats to BN’s 31 in the 59-seat assembly. But with a four seat majority, and more defections likely, the Sultan looks likely to accept BN’s offer to form the next government.

Rumours has it that Nasaruddin Hashim, who left UMNO to join PKR earlier but later returned to UMNO, is most likely to be given the MB post, but, why these frogs decided to jump? Is it just because for "MONEY & POSITION"..........
