KP JPJ nak 5358 orang saja mati menjelang 2020...

Ketua Pengarah JPJ kata.. "Kita nak orang ramai mati 5,358 org saja mati menjelang 2020"...Rakyat memang percaya disebabkan nombor plat ramai yang eksiden maut...

JPJ, Apalah punya turrr...

Operasi tersebut mensasarkan kepada 3 matlamat utama iaitu ;

1. No plat yang tidak mematuhi spesifikasi.
2. Kadar ketelusan cermin gelap.
3. Penggunaan lampu HID.

JPJ aims to cut road fatality...

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is committed towards reducing the number of road fatalities nationwide through law enforcement.

According to its director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad, the department aimed to achieve its Key Performance Index (KPI) 2020 target of lowering the fatality index to two per cent from 2.9 per cent for every 10,000 registered vehicles.

“In other words, we want to ensure that by striving to bring the index down to two per cent and below, there would be no more than 5,359 deaths (due to road accidents) by 2020. At a fatality index of 2.9 per cent, we may see 10,716 deaths by 2020, which is not good for the country,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Among the steps to be undertaken towards attaining this KPI, he said, would be the enforcement of rules pertaining to strobe and high-intensity discharge (HID) lights as well as tinting effective Nov 1 this year.

“Actually the HID lights can be used only if they are original – meaning they come already installed on the vehicles during purchase, not after. As many HID lights sold outside manufacturing (after-market) do not meet the specifications set by JPJ, they pose danger to other road users. This prompts us to take actions against those who install after-market HID lights on their vehicles,” he added.

On strobe lights, Ismail said all vehicles could only use three types, namely white, yellow and red.
“We will take action against those using other than these three colours.”

On tinting, Ismail said as specified under the new rule, the allowed levels of visible light transmission (VLT) would be 70 per cent for the windscreen, 50 per cent for front side windows, and 30 per cent for rear side windows and rear screen.

He pointed out that a grace period running till April 30 next had been given to owners to change VLT levels on their vehicles in accordance to the specifications.

“Beginning May 1 next year, owners of all Malaysian-registered vehicles must adhere to this rule,” Ismail said.

However the revised tinting regulation would not apply to certain vehicles, namely those used by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Prime Minister and his Deputy, Chief Ministers, Menteri Besar, Chief Justice, Ministers as well as high-risked departments such as Royal Malaysia Police and Royal Malaysian Customs-theborneopost
