Anwar: Kenapa AG dibiarkan dalam kes Batu Puteh...
Anwar Ibrahim menyelar kerajaan kerana gagal meletakkan tanggungjawab kepada Peguam Negara Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail ekoran kehilangan pulau Batu Puteh dalam pertikaian wilayah di Mahkamah Antarabangsa (ICJ).
Ketua pembangkang berkata, beliau tertanya-tanya kenapa kerajaan tidak mendapatkan penjelasan berhubung kekalahan negara dalam kes yang penting itu.
"Kita hilang pulau tetapi peguam negara tidak pernah dipersoal," katanya semasa perbahasan Belanjawan 2014 di Parlimen hari ini.Anwar berkata, keadaan itu berlaku sama ada terdapat persefahaman antara kedua-dua pihak atau mereka takut melakukan sesuatu.
"Kenapa mereka takut bertanya soalan supaya penjelasan dapat diberikan oleh peguam negara," soal ketua umum PKR itu.
Abdul Gani mengetuai kes di ICJ pada 2008.
Pada 7 November lalu, Ketua CID Kuala Lumpur Datuk Mat Zain Ibrahim membuat akuan berkanun yang antaranya mendakwa pasukan Malaysia memberikan bukti palsu kepada ICJ dalam kes itu.
Menurut beliau, perkara itu diketahui oleh ICJ, sekali gus merosakkan kewibawaan negara dan menyebabkan Malaysia tewas dalam perbicaraan itu.-malaysiakini

During the budget debate at the committee stage in Parliament today, the opposition leader said he was puzzled that the government did not even seek clarification over the defeat in the high stakes case.
"We
lost an island but the attorney-general was never questioned. It was as
if there was already an understanding (between the attorney-general and
government) - or were they both afraid of something? I do not
understand."Why were they afraid to ask questions so that a proper explanation could be given by the attorney-general?" Anwar asked.
Gani had led the case for Malaysia before the ICJ in 2008.
Former Kuala Lumpur CID chief Mat Zain Ibrahim has made a statutory declaration claiming that the Malaysian team had submitted fabricated evidence to the ICJ in the Batu Puteh case.
Why are US intelligence officers in AG's Chambers?
According to Mat Zain, this was discovered by the ICJ, and this damaged Malaysia's credibility and contributed to the country’s defeat in the dispute.
On
Nov 9, it was reported that the Johor Sultan had stripped former Johor
Economic Planning Unit head Hamsan Saringat of his datukship. Hamsan was part of the ICJ team but it is not clear if the action of the palace was related to the alleged Batu Puteh case blunder.
Anwar also called on the Attorney-General Chambers to come clean on the claim by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that two American intelligence officers are working in its office.
"There needs to be a clear answer. If they are not CIA agents, then what are the roles of two US officers in the Attorney-General's Chambers," he asked.
Likewise, Anwar said, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has also been silent over alleged US spying in Malaysia.
"This concerns espionage but our prime minister does not have the courage to reprimand the US' excesses," he said.-malaysiakini

The Ambank murder-robbery case is an insult to the national sovereignty and security because of the ability of the Indonesian-born suspect to obtain a MyKad and firearm license, said Lim Kit Siang.
Training his gun at the enforcement agencies while debating the Budget 2014 in the Parliament today, Lim (DAP- Gelang Patah) said the suspect who hailed from Sulawesi, Laode Ardina Laode Rasila, had successfully circumvent all security systems.
“How did he get his MyKad? How did he manage to open a bank account and has his salary banked in to the account every month? How did he even get the firearm license from the Home Ministry?
“Above all, did he vote in the 13th general election?” he said.
Laode Ardina has assumed the identity of Ardi Hamzah from Sabah and worked as a security guard in Ambank.
In the incident on Oct 23, he shot the bank officer Norazita Abu Talib after the victim had opened the bank’s safe. He fled the scene with RM450,000 before he was nabbed by the police last week.
Firearms for religious officers
Meanwhile, Lim also questioned the call by Terengganu government to arm its religious officers with firearms after a Pahang religious officer was shot dead, saying that even the police officials have lost their firearms.
“It is as though if one day a journalist is shot dead while performing his job, all the journalists must be equipped with firearms as well” he said.
Lim said the government’s mismanagement was the cause behind the deteriorating security conditions and it was time to save the country from this “security nightmare”.
“Malaysians dream of a secured environment, without having to worry about being robbed or murdered. But the fact is today we can see that many people live in fear.
“Fear cannot be concealed like how a mural art depicting a true social criticism in Johor was hidden by a layer of white paint,” he said, referring the Lego mural which has been whitewashed by Johor Baru City Council last week.-fmt
