– tmi

Misteri Jet Rasmi Gomen - Jadilah betul2 PM,bukan lari sana, sembunyi sini...

VIP jet burned RM500k worth of fuel...

The government VIP jet tracked travelling across three continents last week used jet fuel worth close to half a million ringgit, estimated PKR's Semambu assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung.

Instead of paying for the 64,232.36 gallon of fuel used, the PKR Youth information bureau chief said the money could have gone to buying close to 200,000 cans of sardine for flood victims.

"With the price of the international jet fuel at RM7.68 per gallon, the mystery passenger had used jet fuel worth RM493,304," Lee (right) said in a statement today.

This did not take into account the costs of paying the pilots, landing and parking costs, aircraft storage costs, ramp service and maintenance costs, he said.

He estimated the fuel costs using website fuelplanner.com which allows users to simulate a flight path and estimate fuel costs according to the aircraft.

The Airbus A319CJ carried Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his family to Hawaii for a holiday on Dec 20, but Najib returned alone on a commercial flight on Dec 27 due to worsening floods at home.

The jet was later tracked landing in airports in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Lee said that based on a wholesale price of RM2 for one kilogram of rice, RM493,304 can be used to buy 247 tonnes of rice which can be distributed to flood victims, he said.

The same amount can pay for 197,760 cans of sardine at RM2.50 a can.

After a round-the-world trip, the government VIP jet that took Najib to his golfing trip with US President Barack Obama finally returned to the country last night.

Friends of BN: Stops not for shopping

The aircraft bearing the registration number 9M-NAA landed at the KL International Airport at 10.20 last night, according to flight tracking service Flightradar24, after being in Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport since Friday.

The VIP jet had left Subang Airport for Honolulu, Hawaii, on Dec 20 last month, where Najib spent his holiday with his family and played golf with Obama.

The Airbus flew without Najib to Los Angeles, Indianapolis, back to Los Angeles, New York, London, Dubai, and finally to Bangkok.

Most of these stops lasted no more than a few hours, except for the stop in Indianapolis, which lasted six days from Dec 26 until Dec 31.

The short stops were also highlighted by the Facebook page ‘Friends of BN’ which said this meant the plane was not used to stop at these cities so the mystery passenger could shop.

In response, Lee said the Facebook page should stop trying to be the PM’s spokesperson.

Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement to veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin said the flight had stopped at Indianapolis due to a technical glitch and Najib’s family was not on the plane.

The statement does not explain why the jet crisscrossed several countries before landing at KLIA last night. - mk

The curious case of Zahid and his letter...

The strange case of Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi writing a letter to the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) vouching for the integrity of an alleged gambling kingpin, has become “curiouser and  curiouser”.

In the first place, it is curious - and it must be the first case - for a home minister of any country to write a letter to the FBI to vouch for the integrity of a person detained by the latter, and allegedly for being a gambling kingpin.

Second, it is curious that the home minister is writing to correct a mistake in the report by the Malaysian police to the FBI about Paul Phua. If there was such a “mistake”, why didn’t the police themselves write to the FBI to correct the mistake?

The third and fourth curious aspects are whether the police agreed that it had made a mistake in its report to the FBI about Paul Phua, and whether the police knew and agreed to the home minister writing to the FBI on the matter.

The fifth and sixth curious aspects are the nature of the “national security matters” which Phua had assisted the Malaysian government with in the past, and whether the police were privy to this information.

The seventh curious aspect is whether the home minister had acted unilaterally and arbitrarily without the knowledge and consent - or against the advice - of the police in writing the letter to vouch for Phua’s integrity, as appears to be the case from inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar’s (above) subtle statement, which veers from making any comment on the veracity of the home minister’s letter.

Who objected to the use of the letter?

The eighth curious aspect is the latest development in the Nevada District Court in Las Vegas, where the home minister’s letter to the FBI was withdrawn after Putrajaya objected to it being used for the defence of the alleged gambling kingpin.

The home minister’s letter to the FBI - dated Dec 18, 2014 - was clearly in defence of Phua and yet, the latest twist of the Las Vegas gambling trial is that the home minister’s letter should not be used in an open court proceeding in such a way.

Who objected? Was it Zahid, the police, the Attorney-General’s Chambers or the Foreign Ministry?

The ninth curious aspect is whether the police - to use Zahid’s words in his letter to the FBI - were “eager” for Phua to return to Malaysia to help the government on “projects affecting our national security”?

It is clear that both the police and the home minister’s reputations and credibility have been gravely undermined and besmirched, in the case involving the alleged gambling kingpin.

The home minister cannot stay silent any longer on this issue, as Malaysians are entitled to a true and unvarnished version of these curious sets of events which bring no good whatsoever to Malaysia’s international standing and repute. - Lim Kit Siang, mk

Home Minister’s actions over gambling kingpin part of curious plot

Pening kepala Ketua Polis Negara...

cheers.
