Najib fahamkah ungkapan Anwar "Lawan Tetap Lawan"...

TMJ scoffs at '1Malaysia', moots 'Bangsa Johor' schools...

Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has criticised Putrajaya's "1Malaysia" slogan, questioning whether it really promotes unity as claimed.

"I hope in the near future... the Johor government will introduce an education module for Johoreans. We'll make Bangsa Johor.

"Malaysia has it too - 1Malaysia. But answer me, where is 1Malaysia?

"You have Indian schools, you have Chinese schools, you have Malay schools. From young, you tell them not to be united.

"Then when they grow up, you tell them to be united?" he said in a dialogue session which was later uploaded on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.

Tunku Ismail said he envisioned a different direction for Johor's education system.

"In future, there will not be Indian, Chinese or Malay schools in Johor... There will only be Bangsa Johor schools.

"From a young age, we'll teach them how to be united, how to respect each other's religion and how to respect to respect other races," he said.

However, he said religious schools would be retained for the purposes of the religion.

"You need to educate young Johoreans. They must know Johor's history. They must know the strengths of Johor and why the federal government needs us," he said.

Tunku Ismail went on to suggest that Johor should emulate the assertiveness of Sarawak.

"Look at Sarawak, Sarawak is smart, Sarawak is united. That is why when Sarawak rants something, the (federal) government has to listen.

"If there is no Sarawak, they would be gone. If there is no Johor, they would also be gone.

"This is the important part, when you (Johoreans) are united, the Johor government has more power and can speak up. It can do anything and they (the federal government) is forced to listen because they need our support," he said. - mk

Khairy Jamaluddin hands pendrive over to Anti-Corruption Commission
Hold the directors responsible...

The photograph of Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin handing over a thumb drive at the headquarters of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission appeared in almost all newspapers on Saturday.

More than a year ago, its then Strategic Communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob met an "opposition delegation" under the same circumstances. He was immediately transferred to the PM's Department. (The order was subsequently rescinded following threats by the MACC that they would file charges for "obstructing an officer in the course of carrying out his duties".)

For the record both parties came to the MACC with something important – documents purportedly containing information related to corruption or corrupt practices.

Irrespective of your status, the MACC receives and analyses information or complaints it receives. Most of the time, it is mere hearsay without substantiation but nevertheless, the complainant is informed of the outcome. That is why many Malaysians are clamouring to ask if there is some sort of hierarchy when it comes to investigating, arresting and prosecuting alleged wrongdoers.

In March last year, theSun and an Australian newspaper, The Age, jointly broke the story of how Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mara Holdings overpaid for two buildings and millions of ringgit in kickbacks were pocketed by certain officials.

The documents that had been gathered in the course of our investigations were handed to the MACC. A copy was also given to Mara's integrity head, an officer seconded from MACC. There was solid evidence – details of purchases and payments; company accounts; details of the Virgin Islands-based companies used in the transactions; the names and identities of those involved and even the numbers of bank accounts through which the ill-gotten gains were laundered.

In March this year, amid the glare of TV cameras and flashlights, two titled directors were detained for questioning. To date, the silence has been deafening. In the meantime Mara Inc stands to lose RM88 million after putting up the buildings for sale.

Why the re-cap, one may ask. Last week, half a dozen Bank Rakyat officials including the chairman and the managing director were detained – once again and their remand orders were extended. Well done. The arrests of these people in high places may look good in the eyes of the public, but what follows after this whole epic drama? Is someone going to be charged, or like the Mara Inc case, stamped NFA (No Further Action) and filed in a steel cabinet for posterity?

The role, duties and obligations of directors are listed in the Companies Act; notable among them is that they are to "act as ordinary men of business". Continue reading here...

Story kat SINI dan SINI...
What happens with "CULTURAL IGNORANCE' when reporting the news locally.I feel sad for such ignorant reporting aimed solely at 'sensationalism' by 'Malay' press, which demonizes the very creature that SAVED the child.-w.i.w.c
