Khalid Ibrahim masih liat nak berundur...

Khalid - Exco tidak suka saya boleh belah...

Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim sedia meneruskan pentadbiran Selangor tanpa bantuan exco negeri dari PKR dan DAP.

Beliau menyatakan artikel 53 (2) (b) Undang-undang tubuh Negeri Selangor menyatakan Selangor hanya memerlukan minima empat orang ahli majlis mesyuarat kerajaan negeri atau exco.

Khalid: Sultan perkenan saya kekal MB...

Buat masa sekarang sultan tak terima laporan saya tiada sokongan majoriti," kata beliau. - mk

Khalid: Sultan consented for me to stay on...

Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today said the Selangor sultan has consented for him to stay on as the state’s menteri besar despite his expulsion from PKR.

He announced this after meeting Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Istana Alam Shah in Klang this morning.

Speaking at a press conference at the State Secretariat building this afternoon, Abdul Khalid, who appeared upbeat, insisted that he still had the majority support of the state assembly.

Abdul Khalid said he had informed this to the Selangor sultan.

“Tuanku was satisfied with my explanation which I provided and therefore he consented for me to hold the Selangor menteri besar position,” he said.

However, he did not indicate how he had convinced the monarch of his support.

“Until there are new developments, I will remain as Selangor menteri besar and conduct my duties as usual,” said Abdul Khalid.

Abdul Khalid said if there were any quarters who do not believe he enjoyed the majority support in the House, they can seek an audience with the Selangor sultan.

"They can report it to the sultan. But for now, the sultan has not received any report that I do not enjoy majority support," he said.

He added that if any of his Pakatan Rakyat exco members cannot work with him, they may exit the state government.

Abdul Khalid was last Saturday expelled from PKR after he defied the party’s directive to vacate his menteri besar post.

PKR, which has found it increasingly difficult to work with the lone wolf menteri besar, had wanted to replace him with its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

DAP has backed PKR’s bid to replace him, leaving PAS as the only dissenting Pakatan component party.

The PAS Syura Council, the Islamic party’s highest decision-making body, had on Thursday endorsed Abdul Khalid’s continued tenure as menteri besar.

PAS is expected to decide whether the party will change its stance in its central committee meeting on Aug 17 following Abdul Khalid’s explusion. - mk

I can lead Selangor without PKR and DAP...

A defiant Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today declared he can still lead the state government without PKR and DAP.

He said according to the state constitution, only a minimum of four executive council (exco) members are needed to maintain the Selangor government.

He added that the minimum requirement can be fulfilled by PAS' existing four exco members who are still supporting him.

"I have read media reports that PAS has stated its support for its four exco members in the state government under my leadership.

"Therefore I can still convene the exco meeting," he told a press conference at the state secretariat building this afternoon.

There are presently four exco members from PAS and three exco members from PKR and DAP respectively in the state government.

Khalid said he will be meeting with PKR and DAP's exco members soon on whether they are prepared to support his leadership.

However, he said they can exit the state government should they refuse to back him.

"If they do not want to be in the menteri besar's team, then it will be better that they do not remain as exco," he said.

Abdul Khalid also insisted that he still retains majority support in the state assembly.

He added if there were any quarters who do not believe he enjoyed the majority support in the House, they can seek an audience with the Selangor sultan.

"They can report it to the sultan. But for now, the sultan has not received any report that I do not enjoy majority support," he said.

Gov't still functional

Yesterday, PAS state commissioner Iskandar Ab Samad had revealed that the party had instructed all of its exco to remain in the state government.

The four are Iskandar, Selangor Sallehen Mukhyi (Sabak), Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Sijangkang) and Halimah Ali (Selat Klang).

On the same day, the DAP central executive committee decided that they will stay put pending a bid to replace Khalid to allow the state government to function.

PKR too yesterday indicated its exco members will remain in the state government for now.

It remains unclear if this will change following today's development.

However, hours after Abdul Khalid's announcement, PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali reiterated the party's directive for its exco to remain in the state government.

"PAS exco members in Selangor are to continue on with their duties until a new decision is made," he said in a Facebook posting.

The PAS central committee is expected to convene a meeting to address the issue on Aug 17.

Khalid insisted that the state government will remain functional as it had strong support from Selangor public servants.

"The sate government is not a political administration, it is managed by exco members and supported by public servants.

"Therefore I do not see any problem or inefficiencies (arising from this crisis)," he said.- mk

PKR, DAP doubt Khalid's majority support claim...

PKR and DAP have urged Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to prove that he has support from the majority of the Selangor legislative assembly.

Both parties said Khalid's claim is "doubtful" as PKR and DAP hold 28 seats, showing that the MB has lost support from half of the House of 56 members.

"PAS, meanwhile, has yet to make a decision on whether to support Khalid as MB, and the PAS central committee will only meet on Aug 17.

"Therefore, Khalid's statement to the palace that he commands majority support is doubtful," they said.

As such, they demand that Khalid call an assembly sitting so a vote of no confidence can be moved "to prove that he has support from PAS and Umno assemblypersons"

The parties said this in a joint statement issued by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution and Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua.

They said that the only way Khalid can obtain majority support is if he has support from both PAS and Umno, which holds 12 seats.

"If the 12 Umno assemblypersons do not support Khalid then it is clear that he had provided false information to the Selangor sultan," they said.

We'll do anything to keep S'gor

The two parties also vowed to use "whatever methods in accordance to the Selangor constitution and related enactments" to ensure Selangor remains with Pakatan.

Pakatan's further action "to solve this matter decently" will be announced after leaders from all three member parties meet, they said.

Khalid this afternoon said that Sultan Sharafudin Idris Shah consented to him staying as MB, despite him being sacked from PKR.

The MB said he told the sultan that he still commands majority support of the House.

He also said that he is able to govern the state with only four executive council members from PAS.

PAS has four members, while PKR and DAP have three each in the exco line up.

The Selangor constitution states that only the MB can call for an assembly sitting.

However, the speaker can call a sitting if six months has lapsed without a sitting.

The speaker cannot vote on a motion of no confidence, unless the outcome of the vote is a stalemate. - mk
