- Home minister must not interfere in IGP transferring senior police officers
- Pasir Gudang MP said Home minister no power to “postpone” IGP decision
- Home minister (no) powers beyond law - to interfere jurisdiction of IGP
control and command of Police under IGP's jurisdiction
- IGP confirmed order issued by Minister to postpone transfers of senior police
- IGP will meet with minister to explain why changes must be made
- IGP has power to regulate Police - his directive “for the benefit of all”
- MP called on Minister to withdraw his order to postpone transfers

This is very strange behaviour for a Minister of Home Affairs to interfere directly in the day-to-day running of the Police force and issue an order CANCELLING the IGP's authority to make internal administrative decisions.

Transferring, assignment and re-assignment of manpower inside the Police force has to be the responsibility of the IGP.  Just like it should be the responsibility of the DG of Health to transfer, assign and re-assign doctors and nurses in the government hospitals. The Minister (who is a political appointee) should not interfere in the matters which should be handled by the Civil Servants.

And in this case, the IGP has been on a crusade to clean up the Police force. The IGP has spoken at length about cartels inside the Police and crooked Police officers. Numerous Police officers (including senior cops) have been arrested by the MACC under corruption charges. Clearly the Police suffer a serious problem of corruption.

And may I advise the YAB Prime Minister that this matter of cartels and the influence of organised crime inside the Police force (as alleged by the IGP) has now been widely publicised. The people, especially the voting public is aware that this is a serious matter which the voters can hold against the Perikatan Nasional Government.

For a short while the brave actions by the IGP  shined a bright light on the Perikatan Nasional government. It showed that the new PN government is serious about wiping out corruption in the Police force. Unfortunately this latest action by the Minister of Home Affairs to interfere directly not only in the running of the Police force but obviously in a transfer exercise which may have been triggered by "misbehaviour" does not project a good picture of the Government to the voters.

It can be the YAB Prime Minister and the PN Government which may end up earning the wrath of the voters over the Minister's interference.  Unless of course the Minister of Home Affairs has really solid reasons for cancelling the IGP's orders. In which case the Minister of Home Affairs should explain clearly to the public the reason for his interference in Police affairs. -  Syed Akbar Ali

The phone call...

Is the phone conversation recording between Anwar Ibrahim and Ahmad Zahid real? To be honest, people who have come into contact with Zahid and Anwar, including journalists covering political events, should know very well without much hesitation. The voices in the recording are 99% in resemblance. Of course, some may argue that voices could be easily faked with technology, like in the Mission Impossible films. Not only voices, human faces, too, can be faked!

The thing is, not only the voices, even the tempo and accents have all been similar to those of the two leaders. That's real hard even for the most sophisticated devices to duplicate! Both Zahid and Anwar have instructed their assistants to lodge police reports, which is probably the best thing they can do to clear themselves of any alleged involvement.

But so far none has produced any evidence of a police report. Some argue that if they are serious about lodging police reports, they should do it themselves instead of getting someone else to do on their behalf, just to prove their seriousness. As such, the Malay political community overwhelmingly believes the voice recording is real.

Former PM Najib's confidant Lokman Adam has openly urged Zahid to admit that he and Anwar are on the same side fighting Muhyiddin and his party Bersatu and planning to take Umno out of the PN government, which to him is nothing wrong anyway. The thing is, given his stature as Umno president, how do we expect Zahid to make the public confession?

Zahid loudly declared "No DAP, no Anwar and no Bersatu" in the just concluded Umno general assembly. Several hours after that, the two voices in the alleged phone conversation between the Umno president and Anwar Ibrahim congratulated each other for successfully carrying out their plan.

We have no way to authenticate the voice recording, but Umno members and the public have made their own judgments. Looks like both Zahid and Anwar have really messed things up this time. If the voice recording is real, then Zahid must have fooled the the thousand-odd delegates at the general assembly, and in the eyes of some three million Umno members, he has betrayed the party!

Zahid could have put up an excellent show at the assembly by turning everyone against Bersatu to fulfill his own agenda, if not for the voice recording that has since spoiled everything. The legitimacy of Zahid as Umno president, already marred by his many court cases, is taking yet another major beating.

Rival factions within the party will not let go of such an opportunity to unseat the president. Several Umno divisions in Johor have taken the lead by asking Zahid to quit. Other central party leaders, including those in the "minister cluster", are expected to follow suit soon. The thing is, Muhyiddin and his Bersatu remain the biggest enemy of Umno, and taking out Zahid at this juncture will only benefit Bersatu and give the PM the much needed sigh of relief.

Having weighed the pros and cons, perhaps they will just give Zahid a little more time. If the grassroots have reacted too aggressively, the rival factions may need to strike a consensus to get Zahid to go on leave while his deputy Mohamad Hasan relieves him of his presidential duties, or make a decision not to defer the party elections  in a bid to force out Zahid.

Anyway, Zahid's political career is nearing the end. As for Anwar, his plan to join hands with Umno to topple the sitting government will run aground without Zahid. - Tay Tian Yan, Sin Chew Daily.

The so called phone conversation
bet. Wak Zahid Ponorogo and Anwar...

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has denied speaking to his Umno counterpart, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, after the Umno annual general assembly last month.Speaking at a PKR event last night, Anwar described the viral audio recording of their purported conversation, which gives the impression that the two were working together, as slander.

Previously, Zahid had also said he had not communicated with Anwar after the Umno assembly and that the fake recording was a malicious political move to bring down his party. “As Zahid has denied (the audio clip above), I too, tonight, deny it,” said Anwar, adding that there were people with voices sounding like his.

Jangan lupa siasat suara Muhyiddin sekali
pasai nak tawar jawatan kat UMNO...

“Fortunately, our loyal friends, DAP and Amanah, are not fooled by such slander.” The opposition leader and Port Dickson MP claimed the sound clip was an attempt by the country’s leaders to resort to tricks after failing to threaten or induce people into supporting them.

“This will not affect our efforts to challenge them and expose their lies, corruption and fear in facing the people,” he said. He said he would instruct his officer to lodge a police report so the authorities could investigate the matter.

Suara boleh cam...
Muka terang2 tak cam. Kabur konon...

Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has already decried the recording as a “conspiracy of the highest level” and said the act of leaking it was politically motivated. - fmt

How long will UMNO kowtow to Bersatu...

Former Umno supreme council member and longtime loose cannon Nazri Abdul Aziz, who claims to not be in any camp, "court cluster" or "cabinet cluster", took shots at current BN president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He said as long as Zahid sticks around, the perception of Umno “not being clean” will persist.

A reality check is needed here. The reason why Zahid is perceived as weak has nothing to do with his corruption scandals and everything to do with the once hegemonic Umno bending the knee to Bersatu. The fight between Umno and Bersatu is in reality just a fight between current and former Umno members and not some sort of deep ideological fissure.

You cannot really make a choice between Umno and Bersatu because they are the same. All those hypocritical calls for Zahid to step down would mean something if a former prime minister, now a convicted felon, received the same treatment when he led BN in the last general election. Factions within Umno that have no love for Bersatu and PAS, clearly have grown tired of those ensnared by corruption scandals.

With all the internal bickering going on in Umno, the commonality is that everyone sees the Muhyiddin Yassin regime as weak. Everyone wants to benefit from holding the puppet strings of this "new term" government but are unable to reach a consensus.

It must be galling for someone like Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to impotently issue diktats from his bunker when nobody in Umno seems to be paying attention to him. The so-called "cabinet cluster" is too busy fighting with members of their own party, which only benefits Bersatu. Meanwhile, the other factions within Umno are struggling with the "numbers game".

At this moment the Malay establishment does not want to have an election and this has nothing to do with the pandemic. Political operatives love to talk about Malay/Muslim unity, but you can bet your last ringgit that closer to the election, nobody in this Malay uber alles government would make way for the other.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi

For Umno to survive, the party needs to reassert dominance in the political landscape and this needs to be done with huge electoral gains. For Bersatu, it has to demonstrate that it commands the majority of the Malay vote. Hence, it needs to demonstrate that it is not a political party that relies on other Malay parties to remain in power. Umno never did.

Nobody has any idea of what Perikatan Nasional (PN) stands for. I know, from public statements, that their agenda is to stop PKR president Anwar Ibrahim from becoming prime minister, upholding Malay rights, which they claim Harapan was derelict in, and hating and blaming DAP for everything. Beyond that, there is nothing that points to coherent strategies and policies.

While Umno has a track record of corruption and government malfeasance, it also has a track record of winning elections and in those days, when the idea of BN meant something, it had a track record of winning the popular vote. In other words, a majority of Malaysians voted for BN.

Now, of course, MIC and MCA mean very little and Umno, like the rest of the Malay uber alles parties, have to share the pie when it comes to the Malay vote. The thing the Malay establishment feared all those decades ago, about the split in the Malay polity, has come true. Not because of Anwar's antics but because the Malay establishment could not control the systemic corruption and ultimately the tentpole party which was Umno.

In this situation, how exactly are these Malay uber alles parties going to compromise and work together? And forget about who is leading Umno or BN. It does not matter if the cabinet or court cluster prevails. The political game that Umno set up all those decades ago means that there needs to be a dominant Malay party, otherwise there would be chaos.

Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan

That's complete horse manure, of course. Malay unity has been the rallying cry of the establishment for years and the great lie that built a kleptocracy. However, it does present a horrifying dilemma to Umno. Both Umno and Bersatu have said, if need be, that they will contest in “all seats”. Umno, or at least a faction within Umno, has said that if need be, they will fight against Bersatu and PAS.

Now for all those Umno folk supportive of the PN regime and Muafakat Nasional, does anyone really think they are going to allow an upstart party and a traditional foe to dominate the political landscape? Are these PN sympathisers suddenly going to share the “Malay” vote with Bersatu and PAS? Are these folks really telling us that when the general election finally arrives, Umno is going to abandon its narrative of being the only game in town when it comes to race and religion?

And please let us forget about all this talk of BN. There is no more BN. This is a fight for Umno and Umno alone. The next in line, if Zahid is removed by whatever method, is Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan, or Tok Mat. As Nazri says, Tok Mat is next on the food chain, so everybody should follow him as he is the next in command.

Nazri believes that a firm and decisive leader is needed for the next general election but the big question is who? Seat allocations, especially in Malay majority areas and "traditional" seats, will determine who is the biggest wolf in the pack, and will that Umno leader, or whoever leads BN, compromise with the other two Malay political parties when such compromise weakens Umno further?

Umno will be heading into the next election with a fractured party where warlords are nursing grievances. They will be up against Bersatu, which controls the levers of power and which has demonstrated that it is not shy to use them. However way this plays out, the coming general election will be the fight of Umno's life and will determine if there will still be a dominant Malay party in this country. - S Thayaparan

Hishammuddin tells Wang Yi “You are our big brother”-What happens to the Malay dignity...

Big brother – written as “大哥” and pronounced as “Dàgē” or “Taikor” – could mean many things in Chinese. It could mean the elder brother in one’s family or the gang leader. One could also use it to appease an immediate boss or superior. You could also call a stranger who is older as “big brother” when you ask for a favour or help.

And if you twist the big brother “大哥” by adding a character “大” (which means big) to it, it becomes “大哥大”, which means the bulky brick-size cell phone in the early 1980s. Obviously, the big brother commands one of the highest respect – or fear – in the Chinese community that you can make dozens of gangster or comedy films just out of the two Chinese characters.

So, when Malaysian Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said – “You will always be my big brother” – during a joint press briefing with his counterpart, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, exactly what was he thinking? His statement has provoked controversy back home because it gave an impression that Malaysia readily offered itself to become a subservient state of China.
Malaysia Hishammuddin Hussein and China Wang Yi - You Will Always Be My Big Brother

Probably shocked and flattered over Hishammuddin’s stunning diplomatic language and style, Wang Yi promptly reciprocated with a humble response – “We are brothers”. Mr Hishammuddin was perhaps the world’s first foreign minister who publicly, willingly and shamelessly recognizes the Chinese communist government as the “big brother” without being pressured to.

When he was condemned by Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim for using inappropriate terminology or language during his two-day visit to China, Hishammuddin quickly offered his excuses. Following the criticism, the Malaysian foreign minister claimed that he had said “elder brother” to show respect to Wang Yi, and that the words did not refer to Malaysia’s relationship with China.

Hishammuddin argued that he had been “respecting that Wang Yi is older, and a more senior foreign minister”. Therefore, said the 59-year-old UMNO warlord, the 67-year-old Wang Yi is “elder brother” to him “personally” and defended that being respectful does not signify weakness. Based on Hishammuddin crooked logic, he should get ready to call many world leaders the “big brothers”.

Cambridge Dictionary defines "Big Brother" as...

As a start, Hishammuddin should call 60-year-old Vivian Balakrishnan – Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore – as his big brother, not to mention the 69-year-old Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore. Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Joe Biden, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and the Philippines President “Dirty Harry” Rodrigo Duterte are just some of them.

Hishammuddin, the cousin of former Prime Minister Najib Razak, should stop insulting people’s intelligence. From the video of the joint press conference in Nanping City, Fujian Province, it was crystal clear that when he opened his big mouth to declare China as the big brother, he was talking about Malaysia-China relations – not his personal relationship with Wang Yi.

But even if he was referring to his personal relationship with Wang Yi, which was clearly not, it was wrong. He ought to know that when he spoke during a joint press conference, he stood on the stage on behalf of Malaysia – never in a personal capacity. If he really admires the Chinese foreign minister so much, he could call or worship Wang Yi as his big brother behind closed doors.

Clearly, no matter how Hishammuddin twists and spins his screw-up, he should not have had used the “big brother” to describe either the relationship between Malaysia and China or between himself and Wang Yi. It was already bad to declare China the big brother. It was worse to tell the world that “China will always be Malaysia big brother”.

Not only Hishammuddin said China will always be Malaysia big brother, he took apple-polishing to the next level when he tried to impress host China further with “我们都是一家人” – we are one family. Of course, the astonished Chinese media happily published how the Malaysian foreign minister had spoken in Chinese that Malaysia and China are one family.

However, Beijing should take Kuala Lumpur’s statement with a pinch of salt. Hishammuddin is the type of snake oil salesman who would walk into a seminar room and upon seeing the big boss of a company, would deliberately shout at the top of his lungs “My Big Brother!!” in order to project an impression that he has a special relationship with the top gun that nobody else in the room enjoys.

That’s why the attention-seeker was photographed grinning from ear to ear with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. In his haste to outshine other fellow foreign ministers in the Southeast Asia region, the silly Hishammuddin didn’t realized that it would make Malaysia look like a foreign puppet with his “big brother” statement. Heck, even Wang Yi felt rather embarrassed by the clown’s behaviour.

Like his crooked cousin Najib, the narcissist Hishammuddin is crazy about his own importance; hence his dramatic show off in China. Despite having lost power in the 2018 General Election, the former defence minister had abused his power when two Navy special operations force (Paskal) officers and a commando were caught working as escorts for Mr. Hishammuddin.

Of course, hypocrites and corrupt Malay leaders like cousins Hishammuddin and Najib are valuable assets to China. Both leaders would sell their daughters or wives for the right price. To cover up 1MDB scandal, disgraced Najib sold national strategic assets such as power plants, lands like Bandar Malaysia and projects like ECRL to China in exchange for kickbacks.
1mdb-scandal-najib-selling-national-assets

Both cousins had also committed treason when they deployed military to “Yemeni Civil War” without approval from the Cabinet. The Malaysian armed forces were sent to the Gulf since June 2015 as part of Najib’s commitment to boost Saudi Arabia propaganda machine in the region. The troops were withdrawn following the new Pakatan Harapan government’s decision on 4 Sept, 2018.

Last July, the National Audit Department revealed a stunning report – Chinese ships had encroached into Malaysian waters 89 times between 2016 and 2019. But the liar Foreign Minister Hishammuddin proudly claimed that in the 100 days since he took over the ministry, the Chinese vessels have not dared breach the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) anymore.

Hishammuddin’s cowardice and refusal to defend the country’s sovereignty against China’s intrusion matches perfectly his latest shameful remarks of Malaysia being the little brother. He should stop his pathetic attempts to impress upon Beijing or Wang Yi. If indeed he has a special relationship with Beijing, as he claimed in 2018, he should be able to convince China to repatriate fugitive Jho Low.

The hilarious part was the fact that while Hishammuddin was eager to suck up to mainland Chinese, he was the same ultra racist Malay leader who had brandished his “Keris” (Malay dagger) and threatened Malaysian Chinese not long ago. Interestingly, his cousin Najib had also threatened to soak a Keris in Chinese blood in 1987, evoking fear of 13 May 1969 bloody racial riots.

Surprisingly, all of the Malay leaders – UMNO president Zahid Hamidi, PAS president Hadi Awang and PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin – do not see anything wrong with the foreign ministry’s apparent “kowtow” to the China’s Communist Party. Yet, they are the same “munafiqs” (hypocrites) and bullies who screamed, whined and bitched about DAP Chinese being a communist party.

Malay ultra supremacist used to be foaming at the mouth about bringing back the ashes of communist leader Chin Peng to Malaysia. Yet, now that one of their own kind foamed at the mouth desperately seeking China’s communist government to become the big brother of Malaysia, all the Malay champions chose to keep quiet in approval. What happens to the Malay dignity?

On the serious notes, the blunder would put Malaysia-China relations under the radar of Washington. Even Australia, known as the United States’ “deputy sheriff” in the Asia-Pacific region, had never called the U.S. or any of its presidents the “big brother”. The U.S. would get very suspicious over Malaysia’s foreign policy under the backdoor Muhyiddin government.

Like it or not, Hishammuddin’s “big brother” remarks are not merely some minor mistakes or miscalculations, but a serious screw-up. It sends the wrong message to the international community that Malaysia is not a neutral nation, but a weak, fragile and illegitimate regime that offers to surrender its sovereignty to China in exchange for protection or other favours.

Coincidentally, PM Muhyiddin, who lost his simple majority in the Parliament, has declared a State of Emergency to cling to power. At best, Hishammuddin could be trying to solicit support from Beijing for the backdoor government. At worst, the incompetent Muhyiddin regime could be looking at selling more national assets to China the same way Najib did. - FT

That's exactly what the late Prof DiRaja Ungku Aziz wrote...
Malay grand unity: A fantasy
that never existed?...

Ahmad Zahid was mercilessly blasting at Bersatu in the recent Umno general assembly, and wanted PAS to make a stand, either to go with his party or Bersatu. Seated on the stage, PAS president Hadi Awang was stoned. When the Umno president said it was not too late now for PAS to go back to where Muafakat Nasional started, he was apparently sending out a stern warning message and would not bother to embarrass his guest. After the opening ceremony, Hadi Awang was seen heading straight for the door. And we can understand how the PAS president felt at that time.

When BN/Umno lost the election in 2018 as well as several by-elections that followed, some of its elected reps decided to abandon the ship for the rival camp, sinking Umno into the deepest dilemma it had experienced since the party's founding. The party's future was bleak, simply put. Back then PAS held out a hand and forged the new alliance Muafakat Nasional with Umno, with Malay grand unity as their spirit-lifting slogan. That worked very well to meet the needs of the Malay political market and the new alliance was well received in the Malay society.

In the following by-elections, MN thumped the ruling coalition. According to the polls, it had the support of at least 75% of Malay voters who hoped to reclaim the Malays' political dominance by way of such a cooperation model. Given the unparalleled momentum back then, MN would not have problem winning the 15th general election provided that the two parties continued to work together.

And it also thrashed the faith of Bersatu and posed a real threat to the PH administration. Tun Mahathir attempted to dissolve the PH coalition and rope in both Umno and PAS out of sheer uneasiness to form a Malay unity government. Fooled by his own subordinates in Bersatu as well as rivals in Umno, Mahathir quit the PM post on his own accord, bringing down the PH government and unexpectedly sending PN to power.

Key components of the BN government Bersatu, Umno and PAS are all Muslim parties. Collectively they take up a sizeable chunk of the country's Malay political realm and to a certain degree this has sort of fulfilled the objective of bringing a Malay unity government to fruition. As a matter of fact, the survival of the PN government very much relies on the strong backing of MN components Umno and PAS.

Unfortunately, conflicts stand in the way of the tie-up among these three parties. A strong MN is a threat to Muhyiddin's Bersatu while Umno has always been resistant to Bersatu's admission into the MN pact. In the meantime, Umno has refused to join PN, insisting that Umno MPs have supported the PN government as individual reps.

As compromise has failed to materialize between Umno and Bersatu and it looks natural that these two parties will eventually go separate ways. As for PAS, the party finds itself sandwiched between the two. The Islamist party has  indeed thought of acting as a bonding agent to bring the other two parties together, but such a goodwill has not been reciprocated.

Where PAS is concerned, even if it fails to bring the other two parties together, it doesn't really have to take stand to befriend one side and confront the other. The thing is, Umno's tai kor attitude has not only taken itself out of PN, but has also demanded that PAS sever its ties with Bersatu.

Given such a humiliating treatment at the Umno assembly, PAS's Hadi Awang quickly issued a statement to reiterate that his party would continue to support the Muhyiddin-led PN government while accusing some in Umno of trying to disrupt the cordial PAS-Bersatu working relationship.

Up till this point it is obvious that between Bersatu and Umno, PAS has opted to go with the former. On the surface, MN is still existent, but has now taken the back seat unless Umno changes its mind, or leadership. A heads-on clash between Umno and Bersatu is inevitable, ad the shortlived relationship between the two is fast dissipating.

As for the so-called Malay grand unity, the crack has formed, with either side now eyeing to take down or even put a decisive end to the other through the election. A Malay politician has said reassuringly that Chinese Malaysians need not actually worry about such a development because Malay unity is at best a slogan, some kind of fantasy that in reality has never existed nor will happen in future.

Umno was monopolizing the Malay political market during the early years since the country's independence, before PAS, a splinter from Umno, emerged, followed by Semangat 46, and then PKR, Amanah, Bersatu, etc. Some of these outfits didn't last long, such as Semangat 46. So long as there is still market for power, new competitors will join in the race, and divergence of interest will continue to be there.

On the surface, the political opponents of the Malays are the non-Malays, but in reality, the Malays have already commanded an overwhelming majority of the country's political powers, and only Malay parties can gain access to this market to fight among themselves for more power.

On the one hand, the local Chinese community is concerned that their political space will be squeezed out by the Malay grand unity, they also fear that disunity in the Malay society will spawn political extremism poised to further erode non-Malays' political rights. It is just as tough to be in the game as to be out of it! - Tay Tian Yan,Sin Chew Daily

Pasai dia YB DAP takdak sapa ambik tau...

Pn.Rosliza Hassan kena halau dari rumah sewa...
Ramai masih bercakap soal 'Melayu Cina..Cina Melayu'...
Terima Kasih YB...Salute 2 U and God bless you...

Dua troli penuh kami belikan. Cashier pun terkejut ingat kami borong untuk niaga. Moga-moga cukup bekalan Ramadhan sehingga hujung Syawal. Lepas tu, budak-budak nampak kedai barang mainan, mereka terdiam, tapi saya tahu hati mesti tergerak juga. Saya ada anak kecil, tiap kali nampak kedai barang mainan mesti minta nak masuk. Saya bawa mereka masuk, beli mainan kegemaran mereka.

Kebetulan di luar Tesco ada bazaar jual baju raya. Dah sampai kat situ, takkan tak beli. So, seorang sepasang baju baru.

Last sekali kami makan mekdi tepi Tesco. Bila nak order, semua diam. Saya ingat mereka tak suka. Tapi rupa-rupanya, semua tak pernah makan mekdi jadi tak tahu nak order apa. Ok, takpa, pakcik tolong orderkan. Setiap seorang satu set Happy Meal, pakcik dan ibu makan burger. Lepas tu, kami ke rumah baru. Puan Ros tanya sewa rumah berapa? Saya jawab jangan bimbang, saya akan tanggung sampai dia dapat rumah kerajaan nanti.

Lepas hampir setengah hari, kami semua pun letih. Tapi Puan Ros sekeluarga sekarang ada rumah baru, baju baru, tablet baru, peti ais dah penuh (sampai satu rak pecah sebab terlalu berat). Ibu minta satu saja, blender nak masak untuk anak-anak. Terlupa beli kat Tesco, jadi saya pergi pasaraya Wonderful beli blender jenama Khind. Bila dia dapat blender, ibu tersenyum begitu manis sekali. Saya dah janji ini hari gembira buat Puan Ros sekeluarga, syukur teramat sangat saya dapat berkongsi kegembiraan itu. - YB  Steven Sim Chee Keong 沈志强 , MP Bukit Mertajam

Rosliza Hassan’s 3 year-old child looking at their old fridge
filled with leftovers of over two weeks old. - YB.Steven Sim f/bk...
Tragedy and a boon for
mum-of-10 who lost home...

A photo of a woman with all of her belongings, including an old refrigerator, strewn outside her home in Bukit Mertajam left netizens shocked today. The 37-year-old mother of 10, Rosliza Hassan, was seen weeping outside her single-storey home. Another picture of her youngest child, aged three, staring at the old fridge with leftovers from more than two weeks ago, had many in tears.

What’s worse, the woman and her four sons and six daughters, aged between three and 21, have been forced to live with daily meals in the form of fried rice with soy sauce. A clove of onions was actually a luxury. Often, that was their only meal of the day, too.

Speaking to FMT over a phone belonging to a kind stranger, Rosliza said her suffering began in 2009 when her life went downhill. Rosliza earns RM700 a month as a restaurant helper and her 40-year-old husband, whom she married when she was 16, was hardly around. She has been paying RM500 in rent for her single-storey home at Taman Machang Bubok for the past 12 years.

She said her husband “came and left” whenever he wished and worked odd jobs. When the movement control order kicked in last year, things got worse, as shops had to remain closed. “We had no money. All we ate was ‘nasi goreng kosong’ with salt during Ramadan month last year. “Until now, there is not much change. I add onions, once in a while, when I get,” she said in between sobs.

Rosliza’s 16-year-old daughter had to drop out when she was in Form Two to take care of her two younger siblings aged three and five. The teen also helps out at a restaurant to earn some money. Her eldest child, a 21-year-old son, is already married but is also a wage earner and has to support his family.

She received RM500 from the zakat (tithes) authority but her application for social welfare aid was refused as she was told the tithes aid was more than sufficient. “Some people have different rezeki (blessings) in the form of wealth, fame and many more. I have blessings in the form of 10 children,” she said.

Rosliza said her the owner of the house had asked her to leave yesterday afternoon, as another person had bought over the home. She had also rental arrears. “He told me to leave home by 7am. I had no choice but to camp outside,” the Form Two dropout said.

Her plight was first spotted by a photographer and Good Samaritan Keow Wee Loong, who was having breakfast at a restaurant near Rosliza’s house. After talking to her, Keow decided to alert Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim.

Sim arrived almost immediately to help them out, taking Rosliza and her family to a nearby hypermarket to get them groceries, electrical equipment and other necessities. He also bought them Raya clothes in advance, according to his posting on Facebook.

After that, they were placed at a rented home, with the rental fully borne by the MP, with a new fridge stocked with produce and other items needed. An aide to Sim said over RM10,000 has been spent on the family in getting the necessary items, including deposit for rent of the new house.

Sim also gave Rosliza’s schooling children aged seven, 10, 12, and 14, laptops, as part of his constituency’s service to give underprivileged access to online learning. They can stay in the rented house until the Penang Housing Board allocates them a PPR unit tomorrow, the aide said. Sim could not be reached for comment.

An elated Rosliza said she was thankful to Sim for coming to the rescue and hoped she could open her own stall selling mee goreng, pasembor and mee kuah one day. “This is Allah’s blessing to me. I have prayed daily that my life will get better. It will be a special Ramadan for me, I am so grateful.” - FMT

Natang punya alasan...

Pesanan PKR kepada UMNO pasai PAS...

UMNO in self-destruction...

It’s now close to a week since Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi proudly declared that the party will not work with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, Democratic Action Party (DAP) or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu or PPBM) in the next general election. But despite Umno’s thunderous decision to sever ties with PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s PPBM, its business as usual.

Java-immigrant Zahid is now trapped – and humiliated – after all the Umno ministers and deputy ministers refused to obey the motion passed by the party delegates at the Umno General Assembly 2020 last Sunday. None of the nine Umno ministers or eight deputy ministers have resigned. At best, they pretended there was no such motion. At worst, they have disrespected their own party.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin didn’t have to try very hard to convince the 17 Umno ministers and deputy ministers to remain in the backdoor Perikatan Nasional government. The power-hungry Umno warlords were more than willing to keep their cushy jobs. Again, under the excuse of fighting Coronavirus and serving the people, all the selfish and corrupt ministers decided to stay.

To be fair to the Umno Minister Cluster who shamelessly chose enemy PPBM over their own party, the weak and indecisive leadership of Zahid provided the convenient excuse for them not to resign. The Umno General Assembly agreed to give the party president and supreme council the mandate to determine when the party should withdraw its support for Perikatan Nasional.

Exactly why the Umno General Assembly could not decide that all Umno ministers and deputy ministers must resign “immediately” is beyond comprehension. To make matters worse, Zahid, a “jaguh kampung” (village champion), was too afraid to issue an ultimatum to all the Umno MPs to resign – creating a bigger question mark over when should the ministers resign.

Zahid only said – “Delegates have given me the mandate to withdraw at any time if Perikatan Nasional does not indicate a willingness to call elections soon. If we withdraw based on the party’s decision, the Supreme Council, especially those who are ministers, deputy ministers and GLC chairmen, as well as MPs, will adhere 100% to the directive. They will not hesitate to resign.”
Was the half-baked statement from the Umno president supposed to spook the cunning backdoor prime minister and his band of traitors? How soon is soon, according to Zahid’s definition? What if Muhyiddin, together with his lieutenants – Senior Minister Azmin Ali and Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin – drag the Covid-19 pandemic until 2023 before calling for the 15th General Election?

What the backdoor prime minister needs to do is to just keep quiet and enjoy popcorn while watching Zahid Hamidi and Najib Razak squirm like a worm. It’s not hard to understand why the useless Umno president was afraid to issue the executive order. He knew very well from the beginning that none of the 17 Umno ministers and deputy ministers will resign, even if he tells them to do so.

That’s why outspoken Umno warlord Nazri Aziz has mocked and insulted his own president for lacking leadership. Zahid, well known for his thuggish behaviour, would look like a “paper tiger” if he instructed the Umno MPs to quit the Cabinet only to be ignored. Worse, it would open the door for his leadership to not only be questioned but also challenged and eventually overthrown.

The 68-year-old corrupt Zahid, whose place of birth was Ponorogo in Java, Indonesia, was not a leadership material to begin with. He was elected as the 8th Umno President in 2018 largely due to bribes. Yet, despite splashing a truckload of money to buy votes, the clown won only 99 electoral votes from 191 Umno divisions and captured only 42.4% of the popular vote.

Initially afraid to debate with opponents Khairy Jamaluddin and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah on stage during the Umno presidency campaign, Zahid finally agreed to the debate challenge, but only to do so from his constituency behind the screen. Under his leadership, Umno saw its MPs leave in droves, forcing him to go on garden leave in Dec 2018, only to return six months later.

While disgraced Najib Razak faced a total of 42 criminal charges related to corruption, money laundering, and criminal breach of trust (CBT), the despicable Zahid was slapped with a record 87 charges for similar offences during the previous Pakatan Harapan coalition government. It’s highly likely Zahid will be convicted, after his former boss Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The once mighty and invincible Umno is running around like a headless chicken, with no clear direction. While its president has issued empty threats to pull Umno out of the Perikatan Nasional any time, the party adviser Tengku Razaleigh said Umno MPs should resign immediately. Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan, on the other hand, said the party could quit in August.

Umno leaderships should make up their mind. Should the Umno MPs, ministers, deputy ministers, GLCs chairman and whatnot resign now or in August or wait for PM Muhyiddin to dissolve the Parliament or wait until 2023? Zahid was so clueless in leading the party that he may lose his job before Muhyiddin has to decide whether to call for a snap election or not.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who came in second with 61 votes in the 2018 Umno election, is pushing for the party to hold its internal elections this year in order to resolve its internal issues ahead of the next nationwide election Clearly, the Umno Minister Cluster is preparing to send Zahid into early retirement, even before the verdict of his corruption trials.

Zahid’s corruption, cowardice, and lack of leadership are just part of the problem. Umno today is in self-destruction mode largely because the party warlords are split between Minister Cluster and Court Cluster. And that’s because there is zero loyalty to the party, but only loyalty to power, positions and projects. It’s true that cash is king, the philosophy of former Umno president Najib Razak.

Unlike opposition parties such as PKR (People’s Justice Party), DAP (Democratic Action Party) and Amanah (National Trust Party), the warlords of Umno had enjoyed the good life as the ruling party since independence in 1957 – until its stunning defeat in the May 2018 General Election. Corruption, abuse of power and arrogance of power were part and parcel of Umno leaders for 60 years.
As admitted today by M Saravanan, deputy president of MIC, a component party of the Umno-led Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, BN component parties had no experience in facing the general election as an opposition bloc. Yes, when even a running dog like MIC could not face the hardship of running an election campaign as the Opposition, what more a top dog like Umno.

The fact that minor component parties of BN – MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association) and MIC (Malaysian Indian Congress) – disagreed with Umno president Zahid Hamidi in cutting political ties with the ruling coalition government speaks volumes about addictions to money, power and positions. Do you really think warlords like Khairy or Hishammuddin Hussein are loyal to Umno?

When the BN lost its power for the first time in history in May 2018, Khairy, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, was nowhere to be seen. Hishammuddin, the cousin of crooked Najib, was the first to abandon Umno. Heck, the coward did not even bother to defend his post as vice-president of Umno, preferring to distance himself from the toxic party instead.

Despite his fake pledge to remain loyal to Umno for life, the disgraced Hishammuddin immediately began to apple polish then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. A close buddy of traitor Senior Minister Azmin, it would be a miracle already if Foreign Minister Hishammuddin does not entice Umno MPs to jump ship to PPBM during the current civil war within Umno.

It’s true that Umno Ministers are the real cowards who not only sabotaged their own party, but also are throwing a lifeline to Muhyiddin, the same man who had destroyed Umno in 2018. A political analyst, former Universiti Teknologi Malaysia lecturer Azmi Hassan, has a hilarious justification for Umno ministers and deputy ministers to remain in the backdoor government.

The lecturer said those Umno leaders have to stay to “prove their quality”. What type of grass did this UTM genius smoke? What happens to the “60 years of track record” mantra that Umno used to brag previously? Ministers like Khairy, Hishammuddin, “turtle egg” Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Annuar Musa and Noraini Ahmad are not greenhorns, but experienced politicians.

All the chest-thumping about how great Umno was is now being put to test. And it has failed spectacularly. Umno has bred a new crop of leaders who have no principles or ethics. All the screams to defend Malays and Islam are gimmicks meant to scam gullible Malay voters. The 60 years of corruption, abuse of power, and arrogance of power have come back to haunt Umno. Money talks, bullshit walks. – FT

Din boleh guna dana tanpa lalui Parlimen...

Slap in the face for UMNO from PAS...

In last weekend’s 75th Umno general assembly, some delegates called on PAS to unequivocally state whether it wished to work with Umno or PPBM. These calls came after Umno adopted a resolution which said it would not cooperate with PPBM in the next general election (GE15). The Umno Supreme Council was given the mandate to decide when to ask its ministers in the Perikatan Nasional-led government to quit their posts.

Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki was the most prominent party leader to call on PAS to choose “once and for all” whether it wanted to be with his party or PPBM. PAS answered it today in a way that Umno wouldn’t have expected. Instead of issuing a statement or calling up Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, PAS showed its stand in action: Its president Abdul Hadi Awang met PPBM chief Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.

And today, PAS and PPBM issued a joint statement saying the presidents decided to strengthen their collaboration in PN and work together in GE15. The statement also said PAS and PPBM, as the founding parties of PN, had decided to establish a committee to formulate specific strategies to face GE15, including negotiations on seat distribution.

Can there be a clearer answer for Asyraf and Umno? Asyraf had said PAS’ unequivocal stand was necessary because Muhyiddin had indicated his party would not compromise over seats and would vie for every seat Umno had contested if the latter insisted on going it alone. Asyraf said at the assembly that Umno would continue to strengthen Muafakat Nasional (MN), its alliance with PAS. With the latest development, a question mark arises over the continued relevance of MN.

Of course PAS has always maintained that it wants to cooperate with both PPBM and Umno. It will continue to sing this song until GE15 or until Umno decides to cut all ties, that’s for certain. This is because PAS has everything to gain by teaming up with others. On its own, it can only win a state, possibly two. At the national level it cannot make headway, especially in the urban belt and in Sabah and Sarawak.

If today it has increased its representation in Parliament, it’s simply because of its earlier alliance with PKR and DAP in Pakatan Rakyat which gave it exposure to its non-traditional base. Hadi knows he has more to gain by going along with Muhyiddin than with Umno. The main reason is that Muhyiddin controls the government and government resources.

PAS is also grateful to Muhyiddin for enabling it to taste power at the federal level again, after spending decades in the boondocks. Not only did Muhyiddin throw PAS several ministerial and GLC posts, he also made Hadi special envoy to the Middle East with ministerial rank. Would any thinking Malaysian argue that there’s a need for such an envoy when you have a foreign minister? Everyone knows why Muhyiddin gave him a highly paid post.

Umno must understand that while PAS shouts on an Islamic platform, it is really a political party first and foremost, and power is the goal of any political party. Once Umno was all powerful but today it is weak. It cannot offer what the prime minister can. Muhyiddin has shown he is smarter than the Umno leadership by checkmating his opponents and increasing his support.

Dulu PAS nyanyi lagu UMNO,pasai apa tukaq lagu ni pula...

Politically, Muhyiddin has shown he is a more savvy leader than Umno president Zahid. Let’s face it, Muhyiddin even outfoxed the old fox, removing Dr Mahathir Mohamad as PPBM chairman. The years of experience spent in the political trenches of Umno have crafted Muhyiddin into an astute politician.

Also, Umno is split and PAS, as part of MN, knows this very well. There is every likelihood that before GE15, a few more Umno MPs may quit the party. It is not inconceivable that some Umno MPs who had wanted the party to continue cooperating with PPBM, and those who are being thought of as “parasites” or “traitors”, may just throw in their lot with Muhyiddin.

PAS probably sees Umno as a liability given that two of its leaders have been found guilty of corruption and several more, including Zahid, are facing trial for graft-related offences. And Umno did nothing at its assembly to change the situation.

So, can you blame PAS? But the meeting between Muhyiddin and Hadi and their agreement to work together just two days after the Umno assembly is certainly a slap in the face for Umno. I won’t be surprised, however, if Umno and PAS continue to work together informally, if not as MN, because both want to win as many seats as possible.

Three-cornered fights are not good for any of them and it’ll be worse if they have to meet each other in straight fights. We’ll have to wait and see how Umno reacts to this slap. Its response will show whether it’s a lion or a cat. - A. Kathirasen
