Terbaik dari YB Bintulu...

 I'm not Muslim, what's
wrong with me drinking?...

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing this afternoon censured an opposition MP for making an issue of him consuming alcoholic beverages.Tiong said MPs should focus on helping the country develop its economy instead of raising issues that can disturb peace and harmony.

He also asked Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) whether it is wrong for a non-Muslim to drink since they are not prohibited from doing so.

"As MPs, we should work hard to find opportunities to develop our nation's economy instead of making issues out of nothing. "For example, Masjid Tanah raised an issue about me getting drunk, that I drank alcohol. I am not Muslim, what is wrong with me drinking?” he said during the winding-up session for the Budget 2024 debate at the Dewan Rakyat.

"When I went to Pelangai (in Bentong, Pahang), I was invited to participate in a lantern festival where I drank and acted a bit foolish while playing (lantern) with kids at the event. "This was part of Chinese culture. What is wrong with that?" he added.

Two weeks ago, Mas Ermieyati (below) raised the issue of Tiong dancing and drinking in public, where she sarcastically questioned if it was the minister's unique way of promoting Malaysia to attract tourists.

What people do in their private lives should not be your concern. I am sure you are doing a lot of personal things that you don't want anyone to know or bring it up during Parliament session. Right now our nation needs proper leadership very badly so that we can progress in the proper direction. - Darkmakochi

Nothing wrong in enjoying a nice alcoholic beverage. Intoxicated under the influence of alcohol and crossing the line is wrong. But you know what is more more more wrong ? Stealing from the RAKYAT, protecting corrupt leaders under the name of ummah, sexually abusing underage girls within the family and most importantly putting up a religious cleric show. - ADE007

It does not mean you cannot drink alcohol and the non-Muslims must follow the same.It is the non-Muslims right whether to drink alcohol or not to drink.Stop being a busybody and do your work as a Minister. - Very Concerned Citizen

Syabas Bintulu,Masjid Tanah apa pasal mahu jaga tapi kain orang. - wongsiang1133

PN MPs backing Anwar vs
anti-hopping law: What now?...

The move by two Perikatan Nasional MPs to declare support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has raised questions about how the country's anti-hopping mechanisms function and whether it is effective. This comes as the anti-hopping provisions under the Federal Constitution, an MP does not automatically lose their seat for simply backing a prime minister that is not from their party.

Under Article 49A, an MP who was elected as a member of a party will only lose their seat if they stop being a member of that party. However, MPs who are sacked from their parties, are exempted from losing their seat.

This was affirmed by former law minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar when the anti-hopping provisions were debated in Parliament in July 2022. "An MP who gives his or her support to another party is not considered as party hopping. This is because the MP is still a member of his or her political party," he was reported as saying.

This is the case with Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman, who both announced support for Anwar - who is from PKR - without quitting Bersatu. Both said that they support Anwar in order to get allocations to help their constituencies.

Some parties have moved to plug this loophole by amending their party constitution, in which a rogue MP who goes against the party is considered to have "resigned" - thus triggering the anti-hopping act.

However, Bersatu has not introduced such a clause into the party's rules yet. Even if it did, there are questions about whether such a clause would hold up if brought to court, and whether "automatic resignation" is not considered expulsion.

What this means is that even if Bersatu took disciplinary action or sacked Iskandar and Suhaili - who is a party supreme council member - they would remain lawmakers. There is also no remedy for voters who supported the duo.

For this, the country would have to introduce recall elections, which would allow voters to initiate action to trigger a by-election.

It is of note PN won with less than 50 percent of votes in both Kuala Kangsar (40.2 percent) and Labuan (28.6 percent) due to quirks in the first-past-the-post electoral system. - mk

Siapa PM selepas Anwar Ibrahim?...

- MSO

Order lain,sampai lain...

Ventilator order jenama lain yg sampai jenama lain. Sampai pula jenis cap ayam tu yg senang rosak agaknya.

Isu yg patut ditanya Shahril kpd KJ yg sentiasa dia sahaja yg betul.

Yg mereka bicara Dap halang solidariti Palestin bawa replika senjata. Yg hairan bin ajaib tu kenapa Gerakan dan MCA tak setuju isu yg sama org Melayu tak marah??? Nampak sgt hipokrit!… Tunggang agama selagi boleh. - Norman Radzuan

cheers.
