Opposition continues to pull crowd to its rallies....

NONEThousands thronged three opposition rallies in northern Sarawak last night which opposition leaders claimed to have drawn unprecedented numbers.

Numerous sources put the combined number of a rally in Miri, Senadin and Bintulu at 7,000 people, in what DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang described on Twitter as a “hurricane” sweeping through the state.

The biggest rally was in Miri where eyewitnesses reported about 4,000 packed a DAP rally which featured Penang Chief Minsiter and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

The second largest rally was in Senadin- just outside of Miri - where an estimated 2,000 people gathered outside PKR candidate Dr Teo Yu Kheng's clinic to hear PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Over in Bintulu, about 1,000 people were at a DAP-organised rally, which headlined DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang.

While DAP has won decisively in Kuching in previous elections, it is setting its sight in two other northern Sarawak cities, Sibu and Miri, both strongholds of rival Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP).

NONEThe question on everyone's lips is whether the big crowd numbers seen in Miri can deliver DAP a stunning victory by defeating SUPP president Dr George Chan, the strongman in the state seat of Piasau, located in the heart of the city.

Chan, who is Sarawak deputy chief minister, is seeking a seventh term in Piasau.

His bid to be re-elected has made him a plumb target for the opposition, which has portrayed him as the henchmen for Pakatan's Enemy No 1 – long-serving Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Donations serve as indicator of support

In Miri, DAP Youth chief Anthony Loke reported about RM20,000 had been collected from supporters who attended the rallies, while Kit Siang said RM10,896.70 were raised in Bintulu.

Party workers normally past the hat among the crowd for contributions during the rallies.

In the southern region, Lee Way Loon said that three separate rallies held by DAP and PKR across the sprawling city drew decent crowd numbers at each venue.

The Kenyalang Commercial Centre saw hundreds packed a cramp venue while about 500 people packed a tiny street outside the Poh Poh coffee shop near Jalan Padungan in the city centre.

Another rally at King's Centre, about 10 minutes south of the city, saw about 500 people at a hawker centre for a PKR ceramah. Rally organisers in Kuching said the numbers were encouraging despite that no major national opposition leaders were present.

‘Secret email’ urges civil servants to vote against Taib

An 'Anonymous' sender drop this in my mail....

At the long houses of Wong Pandak and Wong Panjai the people are still forced to gather their water from the rain off their roofs.

Likewise, children at the boarding school of Naga Kesit have no running water to drink and at the Scheme 1 and Scheme 2 longhouses at Sebelaiu there is no water to bath in because the erosion from the palm plantations have clogged up their streams.

Currently, even the clinic at the main town of Lubok Antu is without water! The people of the area say that as often as not they are forced to wash themselves in ditches.

Namun demikian Najib masih berkata "Pakatan Rakyat hanya jual janji". Sepatutnya Najib harus tanya selama 30 tahun Sarawak dibawah pemerintahan Taib Mahmud tak kan bekalan air paip tak boleh disediakan untuk rakyatnya?

cheers.
