Calon Pilihan Raya Kecil (PRK) Bukit Gelugor Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad Zan membuat kecoh di hadapan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Pulau Pinang hari ini hanya untuk berjumpa Ketua Menteri Lim Guan Eng.

Beliau yang menunggu di hadapan DUN sejak jam 12:30 tengah hari bertindak nekad menahan Lim yang mahu beredar dengan kereta kira-kira jam 2 petang.

Selepas 10 minit Backer yang dihalang oleh sekumpulan pengawal keselamatan DUN kemudiannya 'melanggar' kereta Mercedes Lim dan terus terbaring di atas jalan raya.

Hal ini menyebabkan kesesakan di Lebuh Light, di hadapan DUN.

Lim, pemandu dan pembantu peribadi beliau terus beredar tanpa turun dari kereta itu.

Abu Backer kemudian mendakwa dilanggar dan mengadu sakit di bahagian rusuk kanannya.

Ambulans tiba pada jam 2.30 petang membawa beliau ke Hospital Pulau Pinang.

Pembantu beliau memberitahu Malaysiakini beliau akan membuat laporan polis berkenaan perkara ini.

Sebelum ini Abu Backer mendakwa Guan Eng enggan bertemu beliau walaupun beliau mencuba setiap hari sejak minggu lalu.

Beliau turut meluahkan perasaan tidak puas hati kerana lawan beliau calon DAP Ramkarpal Singh dapat masuk ke DUN sedangkan beliau hanya dibenarkan berjumpa dengan pegawai DUN.

"Tidak adil. Saya tak puas hati. Kenapa Ram boleh masuk dan saya tak?

"DAP kata mereka kerajaan berkebajikan. Saya calon. Kenapa susah sangat nak berjumpa ketua menteri saya?" kata beliau sebelum menahan kereta Lim.- mk

Desperate candidate jumps in front of CM's car...

After more than two days of Dyana-mania, attention has shifted back to the much quieter Bukit Gelugor campaign trail, thanks to the desperate act of a candidate who literally threw himself in front of the chief minister's car.

The candidate was independent Abu Backer Sidek Mohamad Zan, who had grown frustrated after having waited at the Penang state assembly building since 12.30pm to meet with Lim Guan Eng.

He later tried to prevent Lim from leaving in his car at 2pm but was prevented by security personnel.

Determined to meet with the chief minister at all costs, Abu Backer, in dramatic fashion, threw himself in front of the former's Mercedes-Benz 10 minutes later as it exited the state building, "knocking" into it.

He then proceeded to lay sprawled on the ground in front of the car, causing a scene and a slight traffic congestion in front of the building at Lebuh Light.

Unfortunately, his bid was not successful as Lim, his driver and assistant departed the scene without alighting from the vehicle.

Later, Abu Backer claimed he was hit by the vehicle and complained of pain in his right rib.

Brought to hospital

An ambulance arrived at around 2.30pm and brought him to Penang Hospital.

Abu Backer's aide told Malaysiakini that the candidate will be lodging a police report on the incident.

Earlier, Abu Backer had claimed that Guan Eng had snubbed him even though he had been trying to meet the chief minister every other day in the last week.

He also complained that DAP's candidate for the Bukit Gelugor by-election Ramkarpal Singh was allowed to enter the state assembly but he was not.

"It is unfair. I am dissatisfied. Why can Ram enter and not me?

"I am a candidate, why is it so difficult to meet my chief minister?" he had said before throwing himself at Lim's vehicle.

Abu Backer, who is also a lawyer, wanted to meet Lim concerning the welfare of taxi drivers and land issues in the state.

"I am a candidate so I must try to resolve their problems, only then they can see that I am serving.

"I respect the chief minister and I want to invite him to help resolve the rakyat's problems," he added.- mk

Bila tiada Melayu dalam DAP,UMNO kata DAP parti rasis,tapi bila Melayu masuk DAP,UMNO kata pengkhianat...

 MP DAP Datuk Mohamad Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz berkata golongan pemimpin Umno tidak layak menggelarkan golongan Melayu yang menyertai DAP sebagai pengkhianat.

Beliau memberi alasan, perbuatan pengkhianatan itu sendiri merupakan tindakan yang sinonim dengan Umno, yang digelarkan sebagai "bapa pengkhianat".

MP Raub itu berkata, golongan yang mengkritik DAP itu juga berfikiran cetek apabila membangkitkan mengenai keanggotaan orang Melayu dalam parti tersebut.

"Inilah pemikiran orang Melayu peringkat kampung. Bila tiada Melayu dalam DAP, dia kata DAP parti rasis. Tapi dia tidak beri Melayu masuk DAP.

"Bila Melayu masuk DAP, dia akan kata, Melayu itu perhiasan dan pengkhianat bangsa," kata bekas ADUN Umno itu lagi dalam tulisan di blog sakmongkol.blogspot.com.

Kenyataan itu timbul selepas ketua Wanita Umno Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil dilaporkan memberi peringatan kepada calon DAP untuk pilihan raya kecil Parlimen Teluk Intan, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud agar tidak menjadi pengkhianat.

Seorang lagi pemimpin Wanita Umno, Jahara Hamid yang juga ketua pembangkang DUN Pulau Pinang mengumpamakan Dyana sebagai "kacang lupakan kulit".

Mengulas lanjut, Ariff Sabri bekata, keputusan DAP mencalonkan Dyana Sofya itu bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keyakinan orang Melayu, sama seperti strategi Umno.

"Hiasan atau tidak, memang objektif DAP ialah meningkatkan keyakinan orang Melayu. Sama seperti Umno letak (calon dari) MCA, MIC dan Gerakan – semua itu perhiasan untuk Umno untuk tujuan yang sama – memancing pengundi bangsa bukan Melayu.

"Kenapa ianya boleh dilakukan oleh Umno tapi tidak boleh dilakukan oleh parti DAP? Ianya bukan suatu jenayah," katanya lagi.

Mengulas lanjut mengenai dakwaan mengaitkan Umno dengan pengkhianatan, beliau seterusnya membangkitkan isu tanah rizab Melayu, saham bumiputera dan juga kenaikan tarif elektrik.

"Mengenai bab pengkhianat ini orang Umno memang cukup handal. Sebab mereka pengkhianat bangsa Melayu yang paling besar," katanya.- mk

Umno is an expert when it comes to the subject of Malay traitors because the party tops the list, said DAP MP Ariff Sabri.

He was responding to Umno which has portrayed DAP's candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud as a traitor to the race due to her affiliation with a Chinese-dominated party.

But the vocal Ariff termed this as the mindset of Malays at the village level.

"When there are no Malays in DAP, they say DAP is racist.

"When Malays join DAP, they say the Malays are just for decoration and they are traitors to their race," he added in his blog.

Window dressing or otherwise, the Raub MP said that DAP is fielding Dyana in order to convince the Malays.

Similarly, he added, Umno also fields MCA, MIC and Gerakan candidates to fish for non-Malay votes.

Listing out several examples ranging from the selling of Malay reserve land and the hike in electricity tariff despite TNB raking in billions in profit, Ariff claimed that Umno lacks the moral authority to talk about betrayal.          

"Treachery is synonymous with Umno," he said.

Ariff also questioned why Umno cannot accept the fact that not all Malays want to be associated with the party.

"If Malays choose not to join Umno, does that make them lesser Malays?

"Why does Umno behave like someone with a mental condition who cannot grasp this fact?" he added.

Ariff also pointed out that Umno has 3.4 million members whereas DAP's Malay members do not even amount to 15,000.

Questioning what the fuss is about, he asked: "How can 15,000 Malays threaten 3.4 million Umno soldiers?"- mk
