Jumlah maut pun hampir mencecah 4,000 orang. Sebab apa Plan Pemulihan Negara diumum petang tadi sebab akan ada Mesyuarat Khas Majlis Raja-Raja Melayu hari ini. Why wait until September?... 

Most MPs want a Dewan Rakyat sitting as soon as possible to discuss the government’s spending during the Covid-19 pandemic, the budget and many other important matters. 

The reconvening of Parliament is long overdue and there is no reason to delay it until September, several politicians said, after Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced today that Parliament will sit either in September or October.

They questioned why the suspension of Parliament and state assemblies would only be lifted in a few months, and most were sceptical, saying it was just another move to buy time for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration. - fmt

D-Day for Malaysia...

To the Allied Forces D-Day for the invasion of Normandy was June 6, 1944. It was from this moment that the might of Adolf Hitler’s army was destroyed by the gallant men and women who gave their lives for freedom and democracy.

For the Malaysian Royalty, D-Day has to be today, Wednesday, June 16, 2021. On this day, members of the Royal household will decide if majority rule continues to be the foundation of parliamentary democracy; and if our system of government still wishes to live by the rule of law.

Throughout history it was never easy for the monarchy to rule; and to disregard the wishes of those wielding political, financial and military power. I recounted to you a couple of weeks ago how Imperial Japan was weakened considerably with the rise of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

It was only in a matter of four years into his reign that Emperor Go Zoyei had to give way to Ieayasu, the mighty Tokugawa Shogun his power over the military and finance; leaving to the emperor the title of the titular head in the general administration of the country.

In Europe, the days of the Emperor and the Kings crumbled after the French Revolution. From that momentous day, Royal households disappeared one after another. In countries where they still kept their glitter and became symbols of past glory, they were reduced to be “constitutional monarchs”. They still adorn their regalia and conservative traditionalists still look up to them with fondness. Unfortunately, they no longer wield real power.

With slogans like Equality, Fraternity, Liberty or Death, the French Revolution captured the imagination of the masses all over the world. Representative democracies and popular franchisement then started to take roots, but with varying degrees of success. In Malaysia, the parliamentary system of government was adopted and constitutional monarchs installed after 1957; but the real power is still held close to the bosom of our political and financial elites; the real modern-day Shoguns.

Our present-day monarchs, by law, are required to take the advice of the leader of the party having majority support. What if the leader of the ruling political elite disregards this fundamental rule and will not listen and step down? Theoretically, the monarchs can ignore and even dismiss them, but the monarchs, like the Emperors of medieval Japan, had already surrendered their power to the so-called peoples’ representatives.

Although our Federal Constitution prohibits our monarchs from engaging in commercial enterprise and holding to offices of profit, in real life this is not so. Some of our Sultans live modestly and therefore may be able to live by this rule. Others are very wealthy and are deep into businesses; which can be done only with the support of the peoples’ representatives, that is to say, the politicians.

For example, the finance minister, senior ministers, the prime minister (and in cases where mining and timberlands are involved, the menteri besar) need to support their business plans. Without the endorsement and support of the prime minister/menteri besar of their business plans, it will be difficult for them to be successful in business.

The question is how much independence can they assert in matters of the state, where there is a real conflict with their personal interest. In the ideal world, it is crucial for them to act independently of the wishes of the cabinet, and to always have the people’s interest at heart.

I am sure the monarchs always have the welfare and the interests of the people at heart if only they are not constrained by their business interests. Our political Shoguns are ruthless and will not treat those who disregard their wishes kindly.

I know many of the members of the public are upset with our monarchs, as seen from their comments on social media. I hope they continue to give their views without fear, but please also understand the constraints by which our leaders in the Istana live.

Be patient, there are nine Malay Rulers in charge of the country. Some may have inadvertently overlooked the interest of the people, but I am sure others are loyal to the subjects; and are willing to speak up and do the right thing for Malaysia this Wednesday. We must never lose hope

Finally, I hope our fearless home minister will have some sympathy for those who criticised our King. When the people are angry with the politicians, they will surely direct some of their frustrations to the monarch.

Give them some latitude to vent their anger. It happens everywhere. Even Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family are heavily criticised, but there was never civil unrest in England on this subject. Do not be the people’s enemy if you want to be the prime minister one day! - Zaid Ibrahim

Kalau lah our SPM students boleh menunjukkan prestasi terbaik (DALAM LIMA TAHUN) walaupun sekolah tutup selama 110 hari maksudnya tak payahlah sekolah kita mengajar budak-budak selama satu tahun yang penuh.

Potong saja 110 hari daripada tahun persekolahan. That is THREE MONTHS. Tak payah lah sekolah dibuka daripada Januari hingga November. Kita reduce tempoh sekolah dari bulan Januari sampai hujung Julai sajalah. 

And then tak payah lah kita upah guru sekolah pun. Biar budak-budak belajar online saja-lah.  Kita buat rakaman video untuk semua jenis mata pelajaran dan masuk YouTube sajalah. Budak-budak boleh tonton secara Online.

Kata depa zaman PH jangan dok harap.Datang pulak Menteri paling teruk Azmin Ali ke Mekah, siap tolong cuci lantai Masjidil Haram,tak pernah dibuat seorang Menteri Malaysia, punyalah kuat berlakon. 

Dah masuk tahun ni saja dah 2 tahun Malaysia tak hantaq Jemaah pergi tunai haji. Maknanya sejak gomen tebuk atap PN perintah, PN belum pernah lagi menghantar Jemaah Haji kita ke Mekah.

Tapi tulah Allah nak tunjuk,jangan kata tambahan 10 ribu kuota Jemaah Haji,seorang pun tak dapat pergi dari 32 ribu Jemaah Haji yang menunggu. Nasiblah ada Kerajaan Tebuk Atap ni, tolong cuci lantai Masjidil Haram pun tak dapat nak hantar walau seratus orang Jemaah pergi Haji.. Ke showroom ok pulak??? -  ipohmali

End the emergency;

reconvene Parliament...

The government is now completely dysfunctional. Cabinet can’t seem to agree on anything. Ministers are openly feuding with each other, banging tables, and complaining they are being left out of important meetings. Each minister has become a warlord of sorts, doing whatever he or she wants to. Red tape and bureaucratic incompetence are not helping, too. The result is a jumbled, bungling and moronic mixture of policies that is making an already bad situation worse.

Indecision, confusion and flip-flops have become the order of the day. In the early stages of the current MCO, there were so many conflicting instructions on the issue of approvals for work-related travel, for example, that the IGP very wisely decided to temporarily ignore them until the politicians sorted it out. I’m sure the police are quite frustrated with having to enforce instructions that are confusing and constantly changing.

The so-called Malay unity government – a long-cherished dream of Ketuanan Melayu ideologues – has turned out to be nothing but an unmitigated disaster. Malay unity is as ephemeral as the morning dew. Never have we seen Malay political parties in such disarray. UMNO president Dato’ Seri Zahid Hamidi is so weak and unpopular that he cannot even order his colleagues to leave the cabinet. PPBM is just as divided and insanely antagonistic towards UMNO. Some wonder whether PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is losing his grip on his party. Even PAS is facing internal challenges, as can be seen from the evolving situation in Terengganu.

At the centre of all this dysfunction and chaos sits a prime minister who has clearly lost both the plot and his legitimacy. The PM’s most important job is to set the direction, manage his cabinet, and ensure proper coordination and discipline among his ministers. Someone who has been in cabinet for as long as Muhyiddin has ought to know how it works. And yet, he seems either unable or unwilling to exercise leadership. Perhaps he prefers to reign but not rule. Whatever it is, the leadership vacuum is proving to be very destructive; the government is literally imploding before our eyes. Never in my 36 years of government service have I seen such stunning dysfunction, disarray and disorder.

In the meantime, the rakyat are suffering real hardship and pain. While PN members grab lucrative sinecures for themselves, people are going hungry and getting desperate. Billions have been spent on all sorts of programmes, but it doesn’t seem to have reached those who really need it. Unsurprisingly, people have lost all confidence in the government. Social media is now full of angry comments. Even the royals are facing rare criticism.

A former political insider sent me this message a few days ago: “Fifteen months of a terribly corrupt and hopelessly incompetent all-Malay government has produced a Malay awakening that is unprecedented in modern history – probably the closest analogy was their united anger against the British Malayan Union plan of 1946.” Certainly, Malay angst has grown exponentially. Ketuanan Melayu politicians can no longer shift the blame to the DAP and must now face the full wrath of the people.

An emergency meeting of the rulers has now been scheduled for June 16th. In anticipation of that meeting, the King is having a round of consultations with party leaders. The role that the rulers can play is limited, given that Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy. The King’s call to reconvene Parliament, for example, was ignored. Nevertheless, the rulers remain influential and their views matter.

Hati2 dengan singa tua,bila ajak masuk gua...

A few options are now on the table. Some are calling for a national unity government to be installed. It sounds good but turning it into a reality will not be easy, given the deep distrust between the major political parties. There is no consensus on who should lead such a government. The names that are being bandied about thus far, including Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and Hishammuddin Hussein, all lack support even in their own parties.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is pushing for another national operations council (NOC) – with him at the helm, of course. He claims it is the only way to get rid of Muhyiddin. An NOC-type government would be a terrible option; it would further weaken our already fragile democracy. Besides, Mahathir had his chance following GE14 and he betrayed the trust of the voters. His insistence on re-establishing Malay hegemony and sidelining Anwar destroyed a perfectly good, stable and promising government and directly contributed to the mess we are now in. It would be absolute folly to reward him with dictatorial powers under a NOC-type construct.

Instead, we should give our democracy a chance to work. End the emergency. Reconvene Parliament immediately, not just to discuss pandemic-related issues but more importantly to break the political impasse. Our problem is a political one. Parliament is the right place to resolve it. Let Parliament determine who has the majority to lead the country via a vote of confidence. Let whoever has the numbers lead and be accountable to Parliament. It might be the last chance to save the nation from looming disaster. - Dennis Ignatius  

The monarchies are more powerful and 

smarter than Muhyiddin regime thinks...

Last October, when King Sultan Abdullah rejected the ruling Perikatan Nasional government’s request to declare a State of Emergency, the monarch had also warned MPs against destabilizing the government. At lightning speed, PAS Islamist party president Abdul Hadi Awang lectured the Opposition to obey the royal advice and stop politicking.

This February, when King Sultan Abdullah decreed that Parliament can reconvene even during the Emergency period, the monarch had also reminded the government that Malaysia practises the democratic system based on the principle of the supremacy of the Constitution. This time, however, PAS supremo Hadi disappeared and no longer talked about obeying the royal decree.

 

The so-called Malay-centric Perikatan Nasional government is not only illegitimate, but is also being led by munafiq (hypocrite) leaders, especially the snake oil salesman Hadi Awang. When it suits them, they will lecture until foaming at the mouth that people must obey the King. When it’s against them, they will keep quiet and treat the King like dirt.

Not only PAS leaders are a bunch of hypocrites, but also traitors to the Malay Rulers. After former Agong (King) Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan appointed Tommy Thomas as Attorney-General, the Islamist party had threatened to hold rally should its demand that Thomas be removed was not entertained. Is that not an act of treason and treachery to the Malay Rulers?

When King Sultan Abdullah of Pahang unexpectedly granted meetings this week with political party leaders, including the Oppositions, the despicable Hadi was jumping madly. The fake holy man went ballistic even from his hospital bed. He conveniently quotes the Prophet, Quran, Islam and whatnot, and demanded action against the plotters, even when there are none.

Not only had PAS leaders – who have a particular great taste for Mercedes Benz, young women and cash – insulted former King Sultan Muhammad V, but has also belittled the intelligence of current King Sultan Abdullah. Fearing of losing power, silly Hadi Awang thought the monarch could easily be influenced by Opposition Anwar Ibrahim and Lim Guan Eng.

Takiyuddin Hassan - de-facto Law Minister...

Today (June 12), PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan claims that whether the current state of emergency will be extended or otherwise will be depended on the Cabinet’s advice to the Agong. His statement suggests that the King must be as obedient as a puppet. Essentially, if Prime Minister Muhyiddin tells Sultan Abdullah to extend the emergency, the monarch must quickly sign the paper.

In the same breath, pro-Muhyiddin bloggers, propagandists and cyber troopers quickly reminded the 9 Royal Households, who are about to hold their emergency meeting next Wednesday (June 16), that Agong is a constitutional monarch. They also said that the Agong is not empowered to proclaim an emergency for the Federation of Malaysia unless it is on the advice of the Prime Minister.

Like a constitutional expert, they claimed that according to Article 40(1) and (1A) of the Federal Constitution, the Agong is required to and must act on the advice of the Prime Minister. To act against the advice of the Prime Minister is a violation of the Federal Constitution and the rule of law, they said. Of course, they changed the definition of the Constitution to suit their purpose, as usual.

There are basically three issues with the panicked Muhyiddin supporters. First of all, Article 40(1) states – “The Agong shall act in accordance with the advice of the Cabinet or of a Minister acting under the general authority of the Cabinet, except as otherwise provided by this Constitution; but shall be entitled, at his request, to any information concerning the government of the Federation, which is available to the Cabinet.”

Obviously, there isn’t such thing as Agong “must act” on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Constitution regarding Article 40 is vague. While the monarch is to act in accordance with advice as provided for under Article 40, but at the same time it says the King need not act in accordance with advice if the Federal Constitution states otherwise.

The second issue is pertaining to Article 150(1), which states – “If the Agong is satisfied that a grave emergency exists whereby the security, or the economic life, or public order in the Federation or any part thereof is threatened, he may issue a Proclamation of Emergency making therein a declaration to that effect.”

 

YDPAgong - Sultan Abdullah of Pahang...

Again, based on the definition of Article 150(1), the King has discretion to not act on the Cabinet’s advice. The words “satisfied” and “may” suggest that the monarch need not act in accordance with the advice of PM Muhyiddin if the King has a different thought. In other words, it is not automatic that every time a prime minister desires a Proclamation, the Agong must agree to it.

Here’s a simple question to half-past-six de-facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan and supporters of Muhyiddin, who like to twist and spin the Federal Constitution. Last October, the same King Sultan Abdullah humiliated PM Muhyiddin when his request for a Proclamation of Emergency was flatly rejected. Did not the monarch use Article 150(1) and Article 40(1) to do so?

While the King cannot simply proclaim an emergency unless it is on the advice of the Prime Minister, the monarch can certainly reject or approve it. Sultan Abdullah’s rejection of Mahiaddin’s request in October 2020 for a state of emergency proves that the monarch can tell the prime minister to go fly kite if he requests for another emergency extension after the current one expires on August 1.

If indeed the Agong had violated the Federal Constitution and the rule of law after he disobeyed and rejected Muhyiddin’s request last October, why didn’t the government sue the King until the kingdom comes? Exactly what can the self-proclaimed stupid prime minister do if his request for an extension is rejected after next week’s special emergency meeting between the King and his brother rulers?

The third issue – Takiyuddin’s claim that the extension of emergency rule depends on the Cabinet’s advice is dumb at best. Actually, nowhere in the Federal Constitution that says an existing State of Emergency can be extended. The current Proclamation of Emergency, which began on 11 January, 2021, will automatically cease at midnight 1 August 2021, full stop.

Between now and 1 August, the emergency rule can be ended earlier than the expiry date, but can never be extended like some loyalty membership cards. The process of getting a new Proclamation of Emergency must therefore start all over again, meaning Muhyiddin has to apply as if it is a new application. At the same time, Agong can either approve or reject his application.

Special Independent Emergency Committee 2021 (SIEC)

Heck, the Agong does not even have to entertain any silly proposals or recommendations from the Cabinet. It is the Special Independent Emergency Committee 2021 (SIEC) that will advise the monarch when it would be feasible to lift the Emergency ahead of its scheduled end on August 1. Still, the committee does not have the power to tell the King to extend the emergency.

Muhyiddin has no one to blame but himself for ignoring the Agong’s decree to reconvene the Parliament in the first place. Because the clueless and incompetent government has created a bigger mess than before the emergency rule, the Sultans may have no choice but to either end the Emergency earlier or let it expires in order to force the reopening of the Parliament to restore public and investor confidence.

There’s a compelling reason why Sultan Abdullah had agreed to meet with all the political party leaders, including the Oppositions. If it was already decided to prolong or extend the emergency by way of another declaration of emergency, he did not have to conduct the meetings, let alone a special emergency meeting with his brother rulers next week.

Muhyiddin Yassin - Illegitimate Prime Minister

Do you think the King didn’t know the leaders of the three biggest parties – UMNO, PKR and DAP – will disclose what transpired in the Palace to the journalists after the high-profile meetings? What will happen to the monarchies’ reputation if it extends the highly damaging emergency rule, even after majority of the political parties had urged the royal house not to do so?

The nine monarchies are smarter than what Muhyiddin regime thinks. Besides growing public displeasure over the regime and the royalties, the Sultans know very well that the Royal Households are here to stay. But based on the political landscape, government had changed in 22 months, and in the case of the current backdoor Perikatan Nasional government, it could be even sooner. - FT

jadi "diktator" MAGERAN...

So Dr Mahathir is effectively saying the Darurat can continue indefinitely. Because that is what MAGERAN means - MAGERAN means Parliament is suspended. If there is a MAGERAN it means the country is ruled under Emergency Laws. Huh?? 

I say the MAGERAN in 1969 was the result of the Alliance (pre-tukar nama jadi BN) almost losing the general elections lah. There were racial riots. Now the BN is no more in power. The BN has been kicked out. There is no political crisis. There is only one crisis in the country now and that is an economic crisis. There is no political crisis. It is the economy lah.

The present state of confusion and chaos in the economy is the result of the Dasar Ekonomi Bebal that was crafted by Tun Razak and gang. So the circumstance are NOT the same between now and 1969.

So what is the difference between a MAGERAN and the present state of Emergency or Darurat that has been already proclaimed?  The big difference is this present Emergency is scheduled to end on August 1st which is only 50 days away. 

So why is Dr Mahathir suggesting that the Emergency be extended some more under a MAGERAN? And funny of funnies, Dr Mahathir wants to head the MAGERAN !!  Nauzubillah. 

The kepala MAGERAN under Emergency Laws is basically a dictator. Dr Mahathir wants to be a dictator. What will Dr Mahathir do as a kepala MAGERAN?  or maybe start up the 3rd National Car  Project?

Itu hari Dr Mahathir kata Tan Sri Muhyiddin is a dictator.  Tapi 'ajal' atau tempoh dictator Tan Sri Muhyiddin akan tamat pada 1 hb Ogos (Insya Allah - kita semua berdoa-lah). 50 hari lagi akan tamat tempoh Darurat. Habis pasal apa Dr Mahathir mahu kuasa MAGERAN pula - tempoh sampai kiamat kah?

Dr Mahathir was given that most impossible of miracles - a second chance. And he blew it. 

He spent 22 months of his second premiership wasting all our time, listening to the fools and the morons, pandering to the corrupt and the lame (all over  again) and coming up with the most insane stupidities (3rd national car, islamic axis with a turkey and a donkey. And all sorts of other crap.)

As a result he lost even By elections in a row.

As a result his own closest friends overthrew him.

As a result 93% of a largely Malay online poll today says they do not believe him anymore. 

Out of 4663 votes, over 93% have said "Tidak boleh percaya'"...

It is best for Dr Mahathir to just keep quiet and fade away quietly into the background. Go back to Kedah. Even before the Covid the service levels in Langkawi (at Mat Cincang, at the tourist spots, in the shops, in the government owned hotels was bad). The 'tidak apa' attitude has worsened - it has now gone to 'aku peduli apa' to 'mampus pi kat hang'.  This is the level of customer service.  

The people are becoming more tensed up - they cannot handle things well.  If you do not understand what is customer service then how are you going to do well in business? Kalau tak tahu layan customer pun, habis nak bisnes kepala hotak apa? Sadly this is Dr Mahathir's legacy as well. - Syed Akbar Ali

Why KJ moving on to economic sector 

when only 38% seniors vaccinated? 

Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong has questioned the government rationale in commencing the Covid-19 vaccination exercise for the economic sector when many senior citizens have yet to get their shots.

Khoo noted that based on data provided by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, 855,124 out of 2,246,257 registered senior citizens have received at least the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The DAP lawmaker noted that this translated to only 38 percent since the vaccination exercise for senior citizens started under Phase 2 in mid-April.

"As Khairy himself has repeatedly stated, our supply of Covid-19 vaccines is limited," Khoo said in a statement. The move, he said, means there will be fewer Covid-19 vaccines for senior citizens.

"This is a major deviation from the government's own policy. In effect, senior citizens would have to wait longer for their vaccine although they are categorised as a high-risk group," he said.

Yesterday, Khairy announced the government will commence "Phase 4" of the Covid-19 vaccination programme targeting workers in the critical economic sectors. This was despite Phase 2 still progressing slowly and Phase 3 had yet to start. Apart from senior citizens (aged 60 and above), Phase 2 was also intended to vaccinate disabled persons and those who co-morbidities.

According to the special committee On Covid-19 vaccine supply, 4.1 million people have registered under Phase 2 with less than half or 1,92 million who have received at least the first dose. Phase 3 is intended for the general population that is aged 18 and above. Khairy had last month said Phase 3 may be delayed due to the low vaccine supply.

However, Khairy yesterday said Phase 4 will commence on June 16 - running concurrently with Phase 2 and even before Phase 3 begins.

"Clearly, Phase 2 is progressing too slowly, and yet the government wants to start with Phase 4 before completing Phase 2. "It is now clear that the government is not prioritising senior citizens under Phase 2 anymore," Khoo said.

Khairy had said he expected nearly 60 percent of senior citizens to at least receive their first Covid-19 vaccine dose by the middle of June. - mk

The more KJ tried to proof himself, the more mistakes he did. Many senior citizens are still waiting and few weeks after registration, the eligibility still a question mark in Mysejahtera! KJ, don't be too ambitious, focus on seniors then move according to age bracket since your app is not working at all! Also, now you have Helpdesk, is it really a Helpdesk?? Standard general answers were given as you can't handle all the enquiries! So, again it's a failure! Let's not complicate the issue, open the vaccination to all senior citizens without wasting our time to register in Mysejahtera which is frustrating to all. Who should be vaccinated first?

Science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced that 5,867 journalist hired by 144 registered media organizations in the country will get their vaccination appointments beginning Wednesday. This has come as a wonderful news for frontline journalists who are in the high risk group as they have to go out covering events and thus exposing themselves to infection risks.

Take for example there are some among the the 213 injured passengers in the late May LRT crash who were COVID-19 carriers, and this will put the reporters covering the news at tremendous risk of infection.

Talking about occupations, sure enough medical frontliners, policemen, government officials, elected representatives, media workers, teaching staff, mass transit workers, supermarket cashiers etc should all be prioritized when it comes to vaccination against the virus because they stand a very big risk of getting infected.

A WHO report pointed out that 80% of COVID-19 patients only have light or no symptoms while 50% are asymptomatic, meaning they might not themselves know that they have been infected until they go for screening tests. They may have spread the virus to many other people around them before their diagnosis has been confirmed.

One thing we need to know is that there is no direct correlation between the severity of cases and the quantity of virus in the body. In other words, a less serious and a very ill patient both have almost the same amount of virus in their body, unlike the SARS virus back in 2003. It was recently discovered in Taiwan that a patient showed more virus in the body even though his symptoms had subsided.

To break the chain of infection, we therefore need to protect those in the high risk groups and not to allow them to become virus carriers after being infected with the virus.

Where age is concerned, priority should be given to the protection of people aged 50 and above and those suffering from chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, kidney problem, etc. because the mortality rate for this group of people is much higher than that of younger individuals.

According to a report conducted late last year, 85.4% of people dying from COVID-19 in this country were aged 60 and above. A recent COVID-19 death analysis in Taiwan showed that 89.1% of deaths involved people aged 60 and above, 81.7% of them suffering from chronic illnesses.

As such, the answer to the question who should be inoculated first couldn't have been more obvious now: high risk occupational groups and old age individuals suffering from chronic illnesses.

So far only 52.4% of Malaysians suitable for vaccination have completed their registration process, while only 13.5% of the targeted population needed to achieve herd immunity has received either one or both vaccine doses.

Minister Khairy has said that the immunization program will proceed as per schedule. Currently the second phase of immunization program involving senior citizens, disabled and individuals suffering from chronic illnesses, is still on-going. Khairy mentioned last week that the government will do its utmost to complete the immunization program to achieve the goal of herd immunity as instructed by the prime minister.

Based on the minister's earlier promise, there should be mass import of vaccines in June and July while thousands of private clinics and doctors will participate in the vaccination program in hope of reaching the goal of 200,000 doses administered per day by the end of July so that we can achieve the herd immunity target by end of November.

To encourage more Malaysians to go for vaccination, several organizations in KL have jointly introduced mobile vaccination trucks for the convenience of the people, especially in the rural areas with large percentage of old people whose children are working outstation and cannot come back due to the MCO travel ban.

We therefore urge the government, elected representatives, district councilors and local associations join hands to provide mobile vaccination services to address the needs of old people living in rural areas. - Sin Chew Daily

Special Conference of Rulers...

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong will convene a special Conference of Rulers on June 16. On the agenda are the ongoing efforts to handle the Covid-19 pandemic and its implementation during the emergency.

"This conference is His Majesty's initiative and will be chaired by His Majesty," Istana Negara Comptroller Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said today. The last time a special conference was held was on Oct 25, 2020.

This special meeting follows a series of audiences granted by the Agong to political party heads, which began today. There are many speculations as to why the Agong was undertaking these unusual steps in such unprecedented times.

So far, the party heads who have been granted audiences today have informed the press that the discussions were mostly limited to the economy and the pandemic.

Interestingly, the Agong decided to grant an audience to the biggest opposition parties first. Leaders of the three Pakatan Harapan component parties were granted audiences today. Umno, Warisan and Parti Pejuang Tanahair are expected to follow. The Gabungan Parti Sarawak coalition leaders are scheduled to be granted an audience, albeit online, on June 14.

On Jan 12, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin convinced the Agong to declare an emergency which suspended all legislatures and elections. The emergency also granted the government sweeping powers to deal with "fake news" and power to take over private resources, among others.

Muhyiddin said this was necessary to help curb the spread of Covid-19. However, the Covid-19 situation has got far worse during the emergency.

Just eight days into June, 740 people reportedly died due to Covid-19. That figure is slightly over half the death toll in the whole of May and double the death toll in February. - mk

Tapi kalau harga komoditi2 ini turun,umpamanya, bila harga sawit turun, harga minyak masak turun dak? Kesan positive harga komoditi kepada peladang sawit, tak ada kena mengena pun dengan harga minyak masak. A special emergency meeting of 9 

monarchies could see a new government...

As the half-baked full lockdown enters the second week, the clueless and incompetent government of Muhyiddin Yassin continues its trademarks – SOP (standard operating procedure) flip-flops and policy U-turns. After public uproars, now the NSC (National Security Council) says supermarkets, grocery stores and convenience stores can sell non-essential goods after all.

The Malaysian government was ridiculed and mocked by its own people when NSC’s half-baked SOP dated June 2 warned that supermarkets, hypermarkets, pharmacies, mini markets and convenience stores are “limited to food, beverages and essential needs sections only”. The confusion saw Caring Pharmacy temporarily suspended the sale of items such as hair dye and hair gel.

Another flip-flop involves the RM70 million MySejahtera app. People were once again fed with frustration and confusion after the emergence of a video clip where a police officer said the app users must update their status “every day” or risk a RM2,000 fine. This came after 31 factory workers in Sitiawan, Perak were fined between RM1,500 and RM2,000 for failing to update the app.

Now, both NSC director-general Mohd Rabin Basir and Senior Minister cum Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob say failure to update the MySejahtera application is not an offence. Embarrassingly, the authorities said the compound tickets issued on Saturday would be cancelled. Exactly why can’t the super expensive app automatically update itself is quite a mystery.

Like it or not, the damage is done. The Malay-centric Perikatan Nasional government has proven again that it is incapable of enforcing a simple SOP, let alone running a country. They expect supermarkets to comb thousands of items and hide non-essential goods. And they thought people had nothing better to do than to update the overpriced “cacat” (defect) MySejahtera app every hour.

 

MySejahtera App - Covid-19 Vaccination

The backdoor regime is so clueless, incompetent, and corrupt and out of touch with the hardship faced by people on the ground that it must be terminated. And you know the regime is extremely panicked when cyber troopers were paid to defend the indefensible. But there might be nothing left to defend if the Malay Rulers, arguably the last defender, do not act fast.

After months of frustration and anger expressed by young Malaysians, especially youth from the dominant ethnic Malay majority over economic hardship and uncertainty about their future, the heads of nine royal households have finally agreed to hold an emergency meeting next Wednesday (June 16) to discuss the Covid-19 crisis plaguing the country.

 

However, prior to the Malay Rulers’ emergency meeting, King Sultan Abdullah is scheduled to meet leaders of all political parties, including those in the Opposition, this Wednesday (June 9). The King will first meet PM Muhyiddin, the president of Bersatu (PPBM), follows by Opposition DAP and PKR (Thursday, June 10), and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and UMNO on Friday (June 11).

Curiously, other parties such as PAS Islamist party, Parti Amanah Negara, Gerakan, MCA, MIC and Sabah and Sarawak parties might not meet the monarch, suggesting that a new government could be formed. While Muhyiddin’s Malaysian United Indigenous Party has 31 MPs, Opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) have 42 MPs and 35 MPs each.

The United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the biggest party with 38 MPs in the Perikatan Nasional ruling government has already given its supreme council the mandate as early as March to withdraw support for Muhyiddin Yassin at any time it sees fit. If UMNO were to tell the King that it withdraws its support for the prime minister, the backdoor government will collapse.

 

Mahiaddin alias Muhyiddin is believed to have lost his majority support in the 222-seat Parliament since early this year, forcing him to declare a State of Emergency on January 12 to cling to power. At most, he has 110 MPs, less than the minimum 112 parliamentarians to rule with a simple majority. Even if a handful of UMNO MPs withdraw their support, it’s game over for him.

The PH leaders...

There are two major signs that a new political landscape could happen before the Christmas. First, there is no need for the King to meet DAP and PKR if indeed the status quo would remain. Even if the intention was to have empty talks over coffee just to entertain the Opposition, the monarch does not need to meet the prime minister, let alone UMNO president thereafter.

Second, the meeting among the 9 Malay Rulers is not a Conference of Rulers, but a special emergency meeting. The sultans can choose not to meet – they had previously cancelled a scheduled Conference of Rulers meeting back in February 24 due to lockdown. The next conference is set for June 30. So, what’s the urgency of having an emergency meeting next week, if not to discuss the fate of Muhyiddin?

As much as Sultan Abdullah of Pahang wanted to maintain the “you scratch my back and I scratch yours” relations with Prime Minister Mahiaddin, the King cannot ignore his brother rulers this time. Arguably, the monarch had made a mistake when he granted Muhyiddin’s request for a Proclamation of Emergency on January 12, without any consultation with fellow sultans.

When Mr Muhyiddin first asked Sultan Abdullah for the same emergency rule in October 2020, which will grant the premier an absolute power to rule like an emperor, it was rejected after the King and his brother sultans deliberated over the matter in a special emergency meeting. The current state of emergency, which will end on August 1, is highly unlikely to be extended.

Regardless whether the objective of the special emergency meeting among the nine royal households is to correct the mistake made by Sultan Abdullah, or to debate if the emergency rule should be extended, the fact remains that it has failed to contain the pandemic. Malaysia is the only country in the world that has declared an emergency as well as locking up the Parliament under the pretext of fighting Covid.

Sultan Ibrahim of Johor is arguably the wealthiest and most influential among the nine monarchies. He was instrumental in forcing the government to declare the current full lockdown on May 28, making Muhyiddin looked like a fool when he reversed his earlier pledge not to ever shut down the country due to the huge impact on the economy.

 

Muhyiddin and Sultan of Johore...

One of the cheerleaders of Muhyiddin, the Sultanate of Johor is fast losing its patience over the incompetence of the new government in both handling the pandemic and managing the economy. Johor Bahru is dying a slow death while Johor residents face a double whammy after coping for months with restrictions on the commute to Singapore where many used to earn livelihoods.

With the nation’s border with Singapore remained sealed, not only hundreds of thousands of Johorians cannot work in Singapore, but local businesses, restaurants and hotels dependent on Singaporean customers have been forced to close for good. Sultan Ibrahim realizes that it’s time to cut loss, no matter how “Malayness” the prime minister claims himself to be.

Under Perikatan Nasional, unemployment rate has skyrocketed to 4.8%, foreign direct investments (FDI) has dropped by 68%, some 32,000 small-and-medium-businesses have closed down, Fitch Ratings’ has downgraded Malaysia’s credit rating from A- to BBB+ and economy – GDP – has plunged by 5.6% – the worst contraction since the 1998 Asian Financial Crisis.

 

Despite the regime’s chest-thumping and gloating about a Malay-Muslim government, young Malays could see clearly how the clueless and incompetent backdoor regime practises double standards, hypocrisy, corruption and abuse of power. And Sultan Ibrahim could see too the bloated Cabinet of 72 ministers and deputy ministers are like a bunch of monkeys running the zoo.

At the end of the day, money talks and bullshit walks. The country’s nine monarchies cannot afford to wait until an uprising of Malay youth to salvage the situation. More importantly, the sultans cannot sit on their hands while watching the destruction of the economy. People are clever enough to pinpoint that it was the King who appointed Muhyiddin to the throne, despite the dubious majority support commanded by the traitor.

If the Malay Rulers foolishly extend the state of emergency beyond its August 1 deadline, the backlash and reaction from the angry public is unimaginable not only to the power-crazy regime, but also to the monarchies. The 2,000 daily Covid cases before the state of emergency was declared have skyrocketed to as high as 9,020 daily infections on May 29.

At best, the emergency will end after August 1, leading to the reopening of the Parliament. Muhyiddin might still get to keep his throne, but his power will be significantly clipped as a new unity government could emerge. At worst, the ending of the emergency and the reopening of the Parliament will see Muhyiddin losing a vote of confidence, leading to the formation of a new government. - FT
