Antaranya melibatkan kes anak syarikat Reserve Bank Australia, Securency and Note Printing Australia.

An Australian court has purportedly banned reporting of proceedings pertaining to a “multi-million dollar” corruption case that would implicate the leaders of several countries, including “any current or former prime minister of Malaysia”.

The Supreme Court of Victoria's “unprecedented” suppression order, dated June 19, was leaked on the anti-secrecy group Wikileaks’ website yesterday.

The order applies only in Australia. It cites, as grounds for the order, the risk of prejudice to the persons named in the order, and that such reporting can be prejudicial to Australia’s national security.

“The purpose of these orders is to prevent damage to Australia's international relations that may be caused by the publication of material that may damage the reputations of specified individuals who are not the subject of charges in these proceedings,” the alleged court order reads.

Apart from the current and former prime ministers of Malaysia, other Malaysians named in the order are former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s sister-in-law (named in the order as Puan Noni), former finance minister Daim Zainuddin (left), former international trade minister Rafidah Aziz, and former foreign affairs minister Syed Hamid Albar.

Several Indonesian and Vietnamese leaders were also named in the order, such as former Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyuno (who was still in power when the order was made), Vietnamese president Truong Tan San, and Vietnamese prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Affidavit ordered sealed

The order also purportedly applies to Australia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Gillian Bird’s affidavit to the court, which it says is to be sealed in an envelope until the court orders otherwise. Bird was the former Australian ambassador to Asean.

According to Wikileaks, the trial concerns allegations that several Securency and Note Printing Australia (NPA) agents had given millions in inducements to secure contracts to supply polymer banknotes to Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other countries.

Securency and NPA were both subsidiaries of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) until it sold its stake in Securency last year.

Previously in 2011, eight Securency and NPA employees were reportedly charged with bribing or conspiring to bribe foreign public officials in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam in order to secure the contracts.

Following this, two Malaysians were also charged in Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam – former Bank Negara assistant governor Mohamad Daud Dol Moin (photo, centre) for allegedly receiving a RM100,000 inducement to award NPA a contract to print RM5 banknotes, and businessperson Abdul Kayum Syed Ahmad who was accused of facilitating the payment to Mohamad Daud.

However, it is not clear whether the Victoria court order deals with the same set of charges filed in 2011, or are on fresh graft charges against the executives of the two companies.

"Kita (PAS) tak pernah kenal Ustaz Shahul Hamid, tapi mengetahui beliau menyertai program Pencetus Ummah,” katanya ketika dihubungi Malaysiakini.

Setiausaha Agung PAS, Datuk Mustafa Ali sewaktu dihubungi pula menjelaskan pihaknya memerlukan sedikit masa untuk memeriksa jika nama Shahul terdapat dalam daftar keahlian mereka.- mk

MIC ni pun satu, tak kan kalu seorang tu ustaz, berjanggut berjambang, semestinya orang PAS...

Hundreds protest ustaz's 'Hindu' curry powder jibe
Hundreds protest ustaz's 'Hindu' curry powder jibe...

Hundreds of people gathered in Brickfields today demanding action be taken against an Islamic preacher, Ustaz Shahul Hamid, for insulting Hinduism in a speech at a surau in Shah Alam in February this year.

The protest, organised by MIC Youth and several other NGOs, also saw MIC vice-president M Saravanan (left) demand clarification on whether Shahul Hamid, a Penangite, is actually a PAS member.

"If it's true, PAS must take action against him," Saravanan said.

A video clip of Shahul Hamid's speech has gone viral, in which he is heard telling Muslims not to buy curry powder products from what he deemed as  “Hindu” companies, such as Alagappa's and Baba's.

"If you go to the Alagappa's factory near Permatang Pauh, you will a statue (goddess) at the entrance, and the tongue is out. Why is the tongue out? Because the goddess must taste all the curry powder before they sell it," Shahul Hamid says in the video recording.

He subsequently posted a short apology on his Facebook, saying that he made the remarks in a closed-door event and he did not anticipate anyone uploading the video.

'Action must be taken'

But Saravanan said action must be taken against Shahul Hamid and vowed that Indians will not forget about this matter after mere weeks, like how they did with Zulkifli Noordin, the former Perkasa deputy president, who was also captured on video insulting Hindus last year.

However, no action was taken against Zulkifli, who has also apologised for his remarks, and he was even subsequently named as BN candidate for the Shah Alam parliamentary seat in the previous general election.

Saravanan said a group will protest in front of Shahul Hamid's house in Penang if no action is taken within a week.

As of this afternoon, the organisers said more than 400 police reports had been lodged against Shahul Hamid for his insulting speech.

The crowd of about 150 people gathered at the fountain near Little India about 1.15pm and protested for over 40 minutes at the venue.

Among the other prominent personalities who attended were MIC youth chief C Sivaraajh, and National Indian Action Team (NIAT) chairperson Thasleem Ibrahim.

Thasleem said that people like Shahul Hameed would not be making statement such as these if action was taken against Zulkifli Noordin for his remarks.

"I was the first one to make a police report against Zulkifli. I hope this time, action is taken," Thasleem said.

Thasleem said that even though he was Muslim by religion, he was still an Indian and would stand up for the community.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Indian Progressive Association (Mipas) also lodged a police report against Shahul at about 1.30 pm at the Sentul police station.

In its report, Mipas chief S Bharathidasan urged the police to investigate Shahul under the Sedition Act.

Meanwhile, MIC president G Palanivel also weighed in on the controversy with a statement today, saying that Shahul "should not" have criticised the Hindu religion.

"This is not his job. Everybody must respect each other's faith," Palanivel said, while asking Shahul to "apologise to everybody". - mk

- mk

WhatsApp bocor, PAS tak boleh dipercayai, kata pengguna Internet

DAP terkilan sikap rasis Dr Zuhdi, minta PAS kembali kepada persetujuan bersama

Leaked PAS message: Team up with UMNO in Selangor...

A leaked screenshot of a conversation on the instant messaging application WhatsApp has inadvertently revealed that PAS central committee leaders have been actively discussing possible scenarios of leaving Pakatan Rakyat.

In what is probably the biggest hint to date that the threat of Pakatan disintegrating is true, the screenshot circulated on Facebook showed central committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki discussing teaming up with Umno.

Zuhdi, a lecturer, outlined a scenario on how PAS could defect from Pakatan and later form a simple majority government in the Selangor state assembly with the help of Umno, while keeping Khalid Ibrahim as Menteri Besar.

The conversation took place in a WhatsApp group involving all PAS central committee leaders.

PAS members who did not want to be named confirmed with Malaysiakini that the screenshot was authentic.

Later today Zuhdi in a Facebook posting did not deny the message, but instead denied that he was part of the group that has put forward the idea of leaving Pakatan.

"I was just outlining scenarios based on my imagination because I was asked to come up with a few scenarios.

"But I am not part of the group that has proposed to leave Pakatan. This is slander aimed at implicating me as the one who came up with the idea," he said.

Zuhdi is the operations director of the PAS research centre (PPP).

Friction within PAS revealed

What would be more unsettling for Pakatan insiders is Zuhdi's admission that no less than 10 central committee members, some of them strong allies of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, "has strongly supported the proposal" to leave Pakatan.

This development follows a week in which PAS' top leadership appears to be breaking ranks with PKR and DAP as well as some of its own members over the replacement of Khalid.

This despite a Pakatan Rakyat council meeting comprising leaders from all three parties that claimed to have arrived at a consensus over the matter.

Meanwhile the leaked WhatsApp conversation also appeared to show the friction running deep within PAS itself.

When Zuhdi included co-operation with Umno in the possibility list, Kuala Krai MP Hatta Ramli (above) immediately shot it down.

"Working together with Umno? I'm out!" he appeared to have replied instantly.

Racist face of PAS?

The screenshot of the conversation started making rounds in the social media earlier this morning.

Another highly disturbing feature of the conversation is the blatant tone of racist politics, with Zuhdi commenting that his scenario would return political dominance to the Malays and that they could negate "DAP and non-Muslims".

"After this, if DAP and non-Muslims make noise about the Allah issue or raids, we can just swat them away," he said.

"At the end of this year just change the borders to return all the Malay-Muslim political power," he wrote, without any apparent disagreement from the group.- mk

WhatsApp texts show PAS can’t be trusted, say social media users

Pakatan bakal berpecah jika parti komponen tak peduli keputusan bersama...

Nasib Pakatan Rakyat biarlah hanya ilusi saya

Pakatan breakup not ruled out, says Guan Eng...

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has finally broken his silence about the continuing tension in Pakatan Rakyat due to alleged diversion from the coalition's spirit by PAS.

Lim said the biggest issue after Aidilfitri celebrations is whether the two party system can continue in Malaysia. Will Pakatan split after Hari Raya because one party is giving conflicting views on whether Khalid should stay on as Selangor MB?

The breaking up of Pakatan Rakyat on the refusal of one component party to respect and hold on to views arrived at together, could not be discounted according to his Hari Raya statement today.

"If the decisions we have achieved together in the Pakatan highest leadership council is dismissed just like that by one party, the survival and credibility of Pakatan will be continue to be undermined," he added.

"Without Pakatan, Malaysia will return to the era of wild power monopoly which has oppressed the people and only sided with certain cronies," he stressed.

It is believed that Lim was referring to two issues, including PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's (right) frustrating his allies in DAP and PKR when he said that there was no reason to remove Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim from his post.

PKR shot back by saying that the party maintains that the party's nomination of its president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Abdul Khalid had already been accepted during the Pakatan Rakyat presidential council meeting.

The July 23 meeting where the decision was taken included six PAS leaders, namely deputy president Mohamad Sabu, vice-presidents Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Husam Musa, secretary-general Mustapha Ali, Youth chief Suhaizan Kayat and central committee member Hatta Ramli.

During the meeting, PAS and DAP had reaffirmed respect for the principle that the nomination of the Selangor menteri besar is PKR's prerogative.

The second issue is where PAS is said to have diverted from Pakatan's principles when the party insisted on implementing hudud.

PAS broke away from their agreement in Pakatan that they would focus more on a welfare state and not hudud law, when the Pakatan manifesto was agreed upon.

This has led to Sarawak DAP to ponder quitting Pakatan in the run up to the Sarawak state elections.- mk

The Selangor Menteri Besar Poser...

The appointment  of the PKR President and Anwar Ibrahim’s wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as the first woman Menteri Besar in Malaysia may not yet be a done deal.

The incumbent, Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is still fighting to keep his post. In the latest development, he issued a challenge to state assembly members to table a no confidence vote against him.

That is not very likely to happen. So Dr Wan Azizah’s appointment as the Menteri Besar of Selangor has to wait a while longer if at all.

The Kajang state assemblywoman was supposed to take over from Abdul Khalid after the Hari Raya. It may not happen that soon.

If Dr Wan Azizah is eventually made MB, she will create history and will put the PKR ahead of other political parties in giving a higher level of recognition to the growing importance of women in the Malaysian politics.

It will even put the PKR ahead of its Pakatan Rakyat partners in recognising the role of women. The DAP did its part earlier by nominating Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan as Speaker of the Selangor State Assembly and PAS by nominating Dr Halimah Ali as a member of the Exco.

This will have the effect of further endearing the younger female voters to the party and the PR coalition. The down side is she has no administrative experience beyond holding the PKR together on behalf of her husband when he was away in prison. Anwar could once again be heading in the same direction, also on sodomy charge.

Abdul Khalid’s day as MB may be numbered but he does not appear to want to walk into the sunset quietly. He may continue fighting within the party or outside.

There already are speculations that he may exit the PKR and join Umno – his old party. But that is a good as cutting the nose to spite the face. His other option is to join PAS, where he can make a greater difference than rejoining Umno.

He wasn’t particularly successful in Umno. But if he joins PAS, he will make the party stronger in the state assembly and hence strengthening his own position.

Should he choose that route, he will help PAS to become the largest PR party in the state assembly – raising its ranks from 15 to 16 and reducing PKR’s tally to 13. The DAP has 15 seats. The Barisan Nasional is the smallest with 12 seats.

But the big question mark is will PAS dare take advantage of the turmoil in the PKR?

On the other hand Abdul Khalid may choose to stay on in the PKR and become the thorn in the rear for Dr Wan Azizah and her supporters.

Umno can benefit from the turmoil in PKR. Unfortunately it is too weak and rudderless to take advantage of the PKR squabbles.

The PKR can capitalise on Dr Wan Azizah’s appointment as the first woman MB in history to enlist the support of female voters and young electors.

But Azizah’s lack of administrative experience and managerial could prove to be a handicap compared to Abdul Khalid’s vast experience in both areas.- A Kadir Jasin

Pasai apa Khalid bayaq RM1.63 bilion kepada Tan Sri Rosli Ismail kalau dah tahu syarikat2nya hampir bankrap...

Photo: http://rafiziramli.com/2014/07/penjelasan-isu-penstrukturan-air-selangor/

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

 Rafizi Ramli
Ahli Parlimen Pandan.

Why pay RM1.63 billion to Syabas and Puncak Niaga when both already nearly BANKRUPT...

PKR's Rafizi Ramli  today hit out at the Selangor government over the failed water restructuring plan, questioning the need for the administration to compensate concessionaires Syabas and Puncak Niaga with RM1.63 billion to acquire them although both companies are almost bankrupt.

The Pandan MP claimed that Selangor had increased the compensation to both the concessionaires, owned by Umno crony Tan Sri Rozali Ismail, by RM568 million in March from its original offer RM1.07 billion in February.

In addition, the government would also take over the RM4.06 debt under the Puncak Niaga group, which includes Syabas which handles the water pipe system and water processing plant Puncak Niaga.

"After the people of Selangor have suffered for years with a water problem, which was mainly caused by the weakness of Syabas and Puncak Niaga, Tan Sri Rozali Ismail will now receive a huge reward to be borne by the people of Selangor," he said in a statement.

"To me, this move is no different from Barisan Nasional's decision to write off Tan Sri Tajuddin Ramli's (former chairman of Malaysia Airlines) RM600 million debt.

Rafizi, who is PKR strategic director, said that if both Syabas and Puncak Niaga were valued according to the usual method using the asset worth, liabilty and the companies' profits, they would be of zero value.
"This means that if Puncak Niaga group were to be sold in an open market without negotiations, its value – based on profit records, assets and liabilities – would be nothing.

"However, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) would give them a profit of RM1.63 billion, which is RM1.7 billion more than its market price," he added.

In March, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim signed a water restructuring deal with Putrajaya, allowing the state government to reverse decades of privatisation of the Selangor water industry.

According to the agreement, the Federal government will give the state power to take over the management of treatment plants and distribution pipes from four private companies, including Syabas and Puncak Niaga.
At that time, it was reported that Selangor would offer RM9.65 billion to the shareholders of the four companies to take over their shares and debts.

However, Khalid came under fire from his own party for signing the deal, with many PKR leaders criticising him for not consulting them about it.

Rafizi had previously warned that Selangor would be forced to fork out RM20 billion in the water deal and the people of Selangor could be seeing higher water tariffs in the future.

He said that the deal inked on February 26 did not benefit the people of Selangor as at the end of the day, they could be forced to pay higher prices for water because of the MoU which the state had signed with Putrajaya.

He said the RM20 billion price tag was arrived at by adding the cost of taking over the four companies in charge of Selangor's water industry, which could be between RM9.65 billion and RM14 billion, and the cost of building the Langat 2 water treatment plant, which is at least RM8 billion. – TMI

Rafizi denies seeking commissions from Splash...

PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli has denied interfering in Selangor’s water restructuring negotiations and seeking payouts from private water concessionaire Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Splash).

“There have been wild allegations directed at me and (opposition leader) Anwar Ibrahim, accusing us of interfering in Selangor’s water restructuring negotiations and trying to get commissions from water concessionaire Splash,” said Rafizi in a media statement.

Splash is the remaining concessionaire to still stall on a deal with the state government led by Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. Splash has been adamant that Selangor’s last takeover offer of RM250 million falls well short of their net asset valuation (NAV) of RM2.5 billion.

Splash is 40 percent owned by Gamuda, 30 percent by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor (a unit of Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Bhd or KDEB) and 30 percent by The Sweetwater Alliance, a company controlled by well-connected businessman Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah.

Splash operates, among other things, the Sungai Selangor Dam which supplies approximately 60 percent of treated water to Klang Valley.

Rafizi hit back at his critics by highlighting Selangor state government’s decision to pay RM1.6 billion compensation on equity to Puncak Niaga executive chairman Rozali Ismail in the water takeover.- mk

The SPLASH issue explained...

RPK, Let us not get too far ahead with the spin. If you allow me the right of reply and let me put the record straight. (READ HERE: Selangor’s Watergate about to explode)

As a shareholder of Splash I was appalled to receive from KDEB an offer representing only 10% of the audited nav of the Company. As the MB Khalid Ibrahim was not prepared to see me, I approached Anwar Ibrahim, who after all is Economic Advisor to Selangor to set up a meeting for me so that I could hear some intelligent explanation why SPLASH was offered such a derisory offer.

Khalid did not like that, but if he had bothered to meet me or answered the many letters I wrote, Anwar Ibrahim need not have to be involved. Flattering as it may be, saying that I may have the power and influence to unseat MBs is one spin too far.

SPLASH has an audited net asset value of RM2.5 billion plus another 16 years of unexpired concession life. That unexpired term in net present value terms is worth another RM1.4 billion. Through KDEB, Khalid offered to buy SPLASH for RM250 million.

That’s a ninety per cent discount on NAV, never mind against full concession valuation. SPLASH happens to be a well-run, efficient and profitable company, not a consignment of rotting fish to deserve such derisory offer.

Contrast that with the State’s offer for SYABAS, a company with an audited negative (note: NEGATIVE) net worth of RM2.1 billion. That is after accruing tariff increases of approximately RM3.5 billion, an increase that was rejected by the State, a grand gesture that made Khalid Ibrahim a Robin Hood figure and a cult hero. Adjusting down the accrued revenue from a disputed tariff increase, SYABAS’ negative shareholder value advances to RM5.6 billion.

Khalid Ibrahim is now buying that wreckage at RM441 million. That is generously over-valuing the acquisition by RM6 billion. A spectacular bailout in the name of the rakyat!

I could go on about the valuations accorded to Puncak Niaga and ABBASS, the other two concessionaires being bought out by the State, and demonstrate how badly treated SPLASH has been. But let’s not bore your readers.

However, my personal advice to you is to check some of the facts and numbers. After all, your brother sits on the Board of KDEB, and should know the affairs of SPLASH as well as SYABAS quite well. Assuming of course, he can be as committed to truth and fairness as you.

Hadi Awang sokong Khalid tapi Khalid masih dok pikiaq2...

Saya sokong Khalid kekal MB - Presiden PAS...

(J): Saya ambil (pendapat) Pesuruhjaya PAS Selangor, wakil kita (PAS).

(J): Itu bukan cara kita (PAS).

Dng mempertahankan Khalid Ibrahim, Pas bkn tolong menyelesaikan masaalah tetapi sengaja mencurahkan myk petrol kedlm api dan menyebabkan masaalah semakin bertambah.

Shafril Nizam - Tak mungkin Anwar buat hal nak jatuhkan Selangor..

PAS deals a blow to PKR, Hadi backs Khalid...

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has delivered a blow to PKR by throwing his weight behind embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim.

According to Bernama, he said Khalid had not betrayed the trust given by the people.

"That is my stand and I hope all PAS leaders are with me," he said, adding that the decision was made after considering the views of majority of the PAS grassroots.

He said majority of PAS grassroots agreed that Khalid should remain as menteri besar.

However, this would depend on the sultan of Selangor, he told reporters when met at his house in Marang, Terengganu.

PKR had nominated its president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Khalid, a move which is believed to have the backing of DAP as well.

Hadi said Khalid's track record, in helming Selangor, and retaining the state in the 13th general election could not be denied, despite problems in Pakatan Rakyat.

He said he could not accept the grounds given by some quarters in wanting Khalid to step down.

"If he is involved in a scandal, breach of trust, misappropriation of government funds, then we can change, but if it is because of other reasons, it is not by changing the menteri besar.

"Let him complete his term," he was quoted as saying.

Asked on the possibility of PAS inviting Khalid to join the party, Hadi said PAS had no intention of doing so.

"That is not our way and since the beginning, although we have 15 seats, which is more than PKR, we give PKR the menteri besar seat because we already have the (menteri besar) seat in Kelantan.

"That shows the spirit of cooperation in Pakatan Rakyat," he added. - mk

Joseph Koh  - Have not learn from the loss of Terengganu. Then, did not do anything and lead to the loss of Kedah. Now, Selangor ?

Anonymous #63753867 - Hadi, you from PAS. You had Terengganu in your hands in 1999. In 2004 what happened. PAS had Kedah in 2008. What happened in 2013. khalid ibrahim is not the same man when he first became the Menteri Besar of ASelangor. Lately he had is Bank Islam claims settled, then his actions are for umno projects. He tries to bulldoze a lot of things. He is sleeping with najis/umno. He cannot be trusted. Else Selangor will go the way of Terengganu in 2004 and Kedah in 2013. Hadi you just pray. Let the able ones be in politics and rule.

Ckl0001 - Khalid in PKR, Hadi in PAS, in names only. In reality, they both are umno people for their actions are strengthening umno's position by causing disunity in PR coalition. By the way, Hadi, don't you have eyes to see what's wrong with Khalid. He's a changed man after some king of settlement out of ....

hello - PAS is playing the JOKER and is holding the other 2 parties in Pakatan to ransom! Its ignoring the majority decision in Pakatan! This kind of situation will occur again and again in future! Its time for PKR and DAP to bite the bullet and go for a no confidence motion, if PAS is recalcitrant on this issue! If not the support from the Selangor constituencies for PKR and DAP will be eroded further!

Kawak - Well, this is the beginning of the fall of Pakatan Selangor government. UMNO is laughing all the way. Sometimes, what UMNO said about Pas and other Pakatan parties as a marriage of convenience is true. They have diverged political ideology and values. PKR has the most internal problems with uncommitted members and leaders. Many of the jump ship. It just reflects the leadership of the party. Tok Guru Hadi himself failed to show leadership when Trengganu went back to UMNO/BN just after his one term in office.

tanteo - Selangor will end up like Kedah, with an MB more like an UMNO clone than PR. Who suported the Kedah MB when the senior PAS Excos wanterd him to step down?History is repeating itself.

cheers.
