Betulkah anggapan bahawa Anwar tidak berprinsip dalam mengadakan rundingan kerjasama dengan para pemimpin Umno?

Anggapan dan tohmahan melulu itu tidak betul. Setakat ini, belum ada persetujuan kerjasama dengan Umno. Perundingan ada, tetapi setakat ini sekadar perbincangan tidak rasmi. Ini diakui sendiri oleh Anwar.

Kalau dulu Anwar boleh berunding dengan Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang dituduh diktator, memusnahkan institusi demokrasi negara, menjalankan pemerintahan secara kuku besi dan mengamalkan dasar ekonomi secara kronisme kepada anak-anak sendiri dan kroni-kroni sendiri, kenapa kini Anwar dipandang serong apabila berbincang dengan pemimpin Umno?

Adakah Anwar pergi berbincang dan berunding dengan pemimpin Umno itu secara sembang kosong dan santai-santai?

Kalau ada anggapan sedemikian, tolong perbetulkan. Anwar telah mendapat mandat daripada partinya sendiri - PKR - supaya mengetengahkan agenda reformasi apabila berunding dengan pemimpin-pemimpin Umno seperti isu pentadbiran kerajaan yang baik (good governance), kebebasan kehakiman, memulihkan ekonomi dan memacu pertumbuhan.. Anwar's dilemma: Should I stay 

or should I go?...

The beleaguered Opposition Leader, Anwar Ibrahim, has lost his mind. He risks undermining public confidence and trust in PKR and more importantly, in Harapan. He is mulling over a possible partnership with Umno-Baru for GE15.

At a press conference on 16 March, Anwar claimed that talks about working together were at a very early stage. Why is he even contemplating this partnership? Is he testing the waters and gauging public reaction? Has he consulted his coalition partners, DAP and Amanah?

Being partners with the corrupt Umno-Baru is a betrayal of the trust and hopes of the Malaysian rakyat which voted Harapan into power, in GE-14 in 2018. The rakyat, which is long suffering and normally resistant to change, summoned the courage to reject 63 years of one-party rule and give Harapan a chance to lead Malaysia. Why wreck Harapan's chances in GE15?

One cannot decide if Anwar is a stickler for punishment, has a bad memory, is an optimist, or he is just plain stupid? Umno-Baru sent him to prison, on two separate occasions, on charges of sodomy. Last year, Umno-Baru said it would support Harapan in opposing PN's budget 2021 and also told Anwar that with their support, he would have the numbers to force a vote of no-confidence against Muhyiddin Yassin. Umno-Baru reneged on both, and played Anwar for a fool.

The rakyat wants politicians and leaders with integrity and principles. Anwar gives the impression that he has neither, who is prepared to work with his former nemesis, Umno-Baru. Or is he doing this to satisfy his insatiable desire to be prime minister?

After his release from prison, one of the red-flags which made some of us question his behavior was the forced by-election in Port Dickson. He thought this would edge him closer to becoming PM. It did not because the then PM, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had other plans. Moreover, the Harapan supporters were displeased with Anwar's sly move.

Anwar will be disappointed again, if he thinks that the power-hungry and ambitious senior politicians in Umno-Baru will allow him to be PM. Umno-Baru leaders will claim that they have a greater need for power, as many of them face trial for CBT and corruption. They have very good reason to reject Anwar, once he has helped them achieve their goals.

Umno-Baru politicians once denied that their previous leaders were corrupt. Why should they suddenly stand for clean politics? PKR does not need Umno-Baru, but Umno-Baru needs PKR. Anwar appears to have neglected this fact.

PAS is now Muhyiddin Yassin's reliable ally and Umno-Baru has been pushed to the sidelines. They are desperate to be in the driving seat again, but they are not making any headway in Putrajaya. Perhaps, in GE15, PKR/Harapan can come to their rescue again, as in Perak.

Similarly, Anwar thinks he can use Umno-Baru's 3.4 million members to attract more Malay voters. So, what does that say about him and this partnership? Neither Anwar nor Umno-Baru are working for the good of the rakyat. Both have personal and selfish reasons, which do not include good governance, democracy or eradicating corruption.

PKR has seen several defections, since GE14. Men and women with no integrity were enticed to cross-over with promises of money, position and perks. The defections also reveal Anwar's poor leadership qualities, and the lack of party discipline and teamwork. Possible defectors were not watched and told to leave. Men and women of low integrity were allowed to hold positions of power.

Remember how people of questionable character, like his former aide, Saiful Bukhari-Azlan, worked closely with Anwar? Was he fully vetted? In the end, Saiful was responsible for Anwar's imprisonment on charges of sodomy. Another of Anwar's flaws, is his poor judgment of character.

The only good thing from the defections is that it should make the task of cleaning up PKR easier for Anwar. A smaller party is easier to manage. Instead of making his party more lean and mean, and subject its members to strict discipline and rules, Anwar is toying with the idea of inviting corrupt Umno-Baru to be its partner. Is Anwar delusional?

With friends like Anwar, neither DAP nor Amanah need any other enemies. Amanah's communications director, Khalid Abdul Samad, advised Harapan not to work with its traditional enemy, Umno-Baru, which he said is synonymous with racism, corruption, and power abuse. Will Anwar listen?

Anwar is no leader. He failed to learn his lessons, even after Umno-Baru failed him in the past. Perhaps, it is time that both PKR and Harapan identify a new leader, or start grooming one from within their ranks. Only one question needs to be asked. PM Din tau buat perutusan jer...

 

Hari ini saya telah mengadakan sidang media seperti yang dijanjikan seusai mesyuarat bersama Ahli-ahli Parlimen, Menteri-menteri Besar serta pimpinan negeri-negeri KEADILAN. Di dalam sidang media tersebut, kami mengulangi komitmen serta tekad untuk membawa perubahan dalam negara kita. 

Kami juga mengakui wujudnya sistem serta amalan bobrok yang bertentangan dengan prinsip demokrasi dan prinsip-prinsip luhur seperti yang dijanjikan Perlembagaan, dan ini akan terus dicabar dan disanggah. Kami tidak berganjak meski diugut dan ditawar dengan pelbagai habuan bagi memberi dukungan pada pemerintah yang paling lemah dalam sejarah Malaysia. 

Saya turut berkongsi pengalaman disuntik vaksin pagi ini, dan layanan serta pengurusan barisan hadapan yang cukup baik termasuk petugas pembersihan. Azizah turut menerima vaksin pagi ini. Pemerintah juga harus cepat mengenalpasti masalah sekitar pemberian vaksin, dan kempen itu mesti dipergiat sambil mendepani masalah-masalah yang mungkin akan melambatkan proses ini.

'Bunch of traitors and pirates' 

– ghosts of videos past haunt Xavier...

Videos of former PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar are making the rounds following his decision to support the Perikatan Nasional government as an independent lawmaker. In one of the videos, the Kuala Langat MP fired a scathing salvo at the government and the decision to hold a single-day Parliament session in May last year amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dressed in his official Parliament attire, Xavier dismissed it as a charade orchestrated by a “bunch of traitors and pirates.” “Today after six months, I am stepping into Parliament. All of you elected us to go to Parliament, we are the voice for check and balance to the government.

“But this government, this Parliament would be rubbish. This Parliament sitting is worthless. We are going to be there for one hour just to hear Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech... “All this under the pretext of Covid-19. But the actual story, ladies and gentlemen, is that these people are afraid.

“The present government is afraid to face us. The present government is afraid there would be a vote of no confidence by Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir Mohamad,” he added.

Xavier then noted that the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin-led government was not elected and had manoeuvred itself into power through a political coup.

“It is just to safeguard their own interests, safeguard their own skins... and these people should not be allowed to get away with it. “But this is democracy in Malaysia today,” he added. Continuing the diatribe, Xavier said the present government was under siege and lacked confidence.

Another video in circulation is his condemnation of party-hopping, which he called “unethical and immoral”, during an interview with The Vibes.

“A mechanism has to be put in place. Party-hopping after an election should not be allowed. “You are taking away the people’s voice and support by doing this. You were voted in on one ticket, and, suddenly, you change to another. How do you expect people to react?” he asked.

Xavier, who has been a member of the Anwar Ibrahim-led PKR since its inception in 1998, claimed that he chose to leave because he had grown "extremely frustrated” over the events that transpired last year.

However, speculations were rife that it could be related to an investigation by MACC, which led to the arrest of Xavier's close associate and Perak PKR deputy chief MA Tinagaran. MACC had seized RM1.2 million in cash and froze RM77 million in bank accounts. Several luxury vehicles were impounded.

Xavier has denied that his decision was linked to this case but the Pakatan Harapan presidential council accused the government of using enforcement agencies to intimidate opposition lawmakers into defecting. - mk

PKR Is Infected With 

Corruption and Trojan Horse...

Democratic Action Party (DAP) won 42 seats in the Parliament in the May 2018 General Election. Today, those seats remain unchanged. National Trust Party (Amanah) captured 11 seats and it too still maintains its MPs. The People’s Justice Party (PKR), on the other hand, had grabbed the lion’s share – 47 seats. However, today, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has only 34 seats, thanks to defections.

What does that tell you about PKR (Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat)? People who mocked Amanah as the weakest link had made a mistake. The weakest link is actually PKR, a time bomb that would explode every now and then. When PKR deputy president Azmin Ali betrayed the party and defected, along with 10 PKR MPs, it was just the beginning.

 

It’s one thing to have Trojan horse. It’s another thing to have corrupt MPs. And it appears PKR has both, a recipe for disaster for PM-in-waiting Anwar. Up until last month, MPs like Jugah Muyang, Steven Choong and Larry Sng had quit the PKR under laughable excuses to support the ruling Perikatan Nasional coalition. Over the weekend, Dr Xavier Jayakumar joined the bandwagon.

Xavier’s stunning decision to quit and join the fragile backdoor government has raised eyebrows largely due to his status as the PKR vice president. In an attempt to minimize voters’ anger who had voted him in 2018, Xavier, like Steven Choong and Larry Sng, said he would become an Independent MP while declaring his support to Muhyiddin leadership.

Did Dr Xavier Jayakumar really think voters would forgive him in the next 15th General Election, if he is lucky enough to be fielded by the prime minister? With the exception of Sabah, the only state where frogs or party hoppers are acceptable, no MPs who had jumped ship has ever been nominated by their new political master to contest again for a simple reason – voters will punish them.

So, Peninsula Malaysia MPs like Steven Choong and Xavier Jayakumar can kiss their parliamentary seats goodbye in the next election. The standard operating procedure (SOP) is – traitors must be slaughtered like a pig. This is one of the primary reasons why PKR leaders aligned to Azmin have decided to stay in the party, instead of following him en bloc during the coup in March 2020.

Azmin was believed to have at least 15 MP loyalists in PKR, which means Xavier is not the last lawmaker to switch sides. But the betrayal of Xavier, a strong ally of Azmin even before last year’s coup, has more to do with corruption rather than being a Trojan horse. When Perak PKR deputy chairman, MA Tinagaran, was arrested last month, RM1.2 million cash was seized from him.

Tinagaran reportedly was a special aide of Xavier, a former water, land and natural resources minister. However, the former minister has denied Tinagaran was his aide, but just a “close family friend”. Regardless, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had also frozen RM77 million in accounts belonging to a company as well as the arrest of two directors.

The corruption investigation was linked to the award of sand mining projects, which was under Xavier’s jurisdiction. Interestingly, after he resigned and pledged his support for the government, PKR’s secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution claimed Xavier was threatened by a senior minister with serious consequences if he did not support Perikatan Nasional.

However, Xavier said he had grown “extremely frustrated” following the events that had unfolded in the past year. He said – “While there are parties discussing the possibility of elections, this is not necessary or viable this point in time. Our current priority should be to support the government in containing the Covid-19 pandemic, to create jobs and to secure funds to rebuild the economy.”

His reason, or rather excuse, went haywire when he desperately defended his decision to resign from the party which he joined since 1998. He argued – “It will take at least 18 months just to complete the vaccination programme and more than two years for the economy to fully recover. This needs bipartisan support to make sure the efforts of the government are fulfilled.”

The reasons offered by Xavier were a truckload of bullshit. That’s because Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme is expected to be completed before the end of this year. The genius Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz has assured that the economy will be booming this year.

Obviously, Xavier Jayakumar was talking nonsense with his half-baked justifications of quitting the party that he had fought together for more than 20 years. Even if it’s true that the MACC was being used by the Muhyiddin regime to threaten and intimidate him, Xavier is a coward at best. The so-called “Reformasi” fighter surrendered even “before” the authorities started questioning him.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng went to jail twice – first in 1998 for defending an underaged Malay girl who was raped by former Melaka chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik, and again during a political crackdown in October 1987 under the infamous “Operation Lalang”. Today, he has been slapped with charges linked to the controversial Penang Undersea Tunnel project.

To break the Lim family, the backdoor government of Muhyiddin has even targeted the former finance minister’s wife with charges over the 2015 purchase of a bungalow. Yet, Mr Lim has chosen to fight the tyrants – again – instead of switching sides like Dr Xavier. If Xavier was really innocent and clean, he would not have quit so easily and fights to clear his name instead.

Anwar Ibrahim is another example, who fought the previous Barisan Nasional regime, despite charged with sodomy – twice. Xavier should realize that it would take years of trials before the court could send him to prison, even if the corrupt regime uses the Kangaroo Court to forcefully convict him. Besides, Xavier should not lose sleep over Tinagaran’s corruption, who was just a “close family friend”.

For the former PKR vice president to throw a towel into the ring before the game could even start means he is as guilty as hell. And if he was involved in bribery during the 22 months of previous Pakatan Harapan administration, chances are other PKR top guns – those who had betrayed the party like Azmin Ali or those who are still in the party – had enriched themselves too.

Therefore, to solely blame the ruling government of using MACC to threaten and intimidate Opposition MP to switch allegiance is hard to accept. Such dirty tactics may easily break new birds, but to a veteran politician like Dr Xavier Jayakumar, it simply did not make sense. Of all the MPs in PKR, DAP and Amanah, why did the authorities specifically target him?

Hence, the argument used by another PKR MP – Sivarasa Rasiah – that his colleague would not have resigned if not for the MACC investigation is laughable. Based on his logic, does that mean all the remaining 87 MPs of Pakatan Harapan coalition will suddenly swing their support to the government if the anti-corruption agency opens 87 files against every single one of them?

In the same breath, PKR should prepare in the eventuality Sivarasa follows Xavier’s footstep. Another Azmin loyalist and lieutenant, Mr Sivarasa had fiercely defended Azmin over his “gay sex” performance at Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Sandakan, Sabah. Sivarasa, a former vice president of PKR, was made Deputy Minister of Rural Development thanks to Azmin.

Together with Zuraida Kamaruddin, Ali Biju, Willy Mongin, Edmund Santhara Kumar, Steven Choong, Jonathan Yasin, Saifuddin Abdullah, Mansor Othman, Rashid Hasnon and of course, Xavier Jayakumar, all of whom had defected, Sivarasa was one of Azmin’s strongest defenders. Another possible Trojan horse waiting for an instruction to defect could be Maria Chin Abdullah.

PKR Supporters

But based on the overwhelming public uproar and criticism after Xavier’s betrayal, Sivarasa may have to hold his horse until such time PM Muhyiddin desperately needs his vote to boost the backdoor government’s simple majority again. Xavier’s support has increased the Perikatan Nasional coalition support to 112 in the 222-seat Parliament, providing a brief relief to the regime.

The recent defections have delivered a blow to Anwar’s ambition to become the next prime minister, which keeps slipping away. Unlike the cunning Azmin who worked quietly to strengthen his position, narcissist Anwar talked too much and delivered too little. It was not yesterday that Azmin built his tentacles in the party. Anwar knew Azmin was power hungry from the beginning.

Even during his era as the Selangor chief minister, Azmin had demonstrated his lust for power by working with PAS Islamist party to fight fellow Dr Wan Azizah, wife of Anwar Ibrahim. But de-facto leader Anwar did nothing except fantasizing. What Azmin needed to do was to sing songs of praise, creating a false illusion that the path to the throne was being prepared for Anwar. - FT

Katak puru yang kebuluran...

The IGP says that the final amount of the fines shall be decided by the district health officers.The Covid19 can be handled. The more dangerous pandemic in Malaysia which has NO CURE is the rasuah pandemic. When you give the district health officers the discretion to lower an RM10,000 fine then you better be prepared for rasuah. RM10,000 is a lot of money.  There is going to be abuse. 

The IGP said the RM10,000 "fine not to severely punish people or enable government to collect funds" Bro, you should not make excuses on behalf of the Government.  When the government imposes an RM10,000 fine that is certainly going to make money for the government. 

The IGP says 330 summonses have been issued - in just THREE days !! That is RM3.3 million already. In just THREE days (12 March - 14 March) ! To the YAB Prime Minister,your boys are running wild. Sekali lagi this is "kuda liar" behaviour. This is "wild horse" policy making.This is torturing the public unnecessarily. It is creating unnecessary anxiety as well. 

You are just creating unnecessary anxiety and tension in the country. Please cancel this RM10,000 fine. Cancel that RM1,000 fine as well. They are not working. The numbers are still high. Our only hope is the vaccine. The vaccination needs to be speeded up. The vaccinations are progressing but they must be speeded up.

Go out to help the people. The people did not create the Covid crisis. The people are suffering. The economy is almost bust because of the Covid. Millions have lost their jobs. Now is not the time to burden the people more with insane fines and summonses. -  Syed Akbar Ali 

 The real Malay dilemma...

The Malay dilemma affects the future of all Malaysians. How is this for a mega dilemma? After six decades of being told that the DAP and the Chinese are the enemies of the Malays and have made their lives miserable, taken their jobs, and stolen their land, can the Malays honestly claim that the predominantly Malay (97 percent) Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration, has managed to raise their standard of living over this past year?

Who does the Malay blame? There is no DAP in the government now. Or should they blame the few token pro-PN Chinese for the mess this country is in? Ebit Lew outperformed Jakim and the Water Board. He provided water and fed thousands of starving Malaysians. You don't have to be a Chinese convert to display acts of kindness.

DAP's Teresa Kok helped a former MAS stewardess with food and money. She has now been inundated with job offers after Kok publicised her plight. Weren't Malaysians warned by Umno-Baru, PAS and PN, that the Chinese and DAP are our enemies?

Up north, the Mentri Besar of Kedah Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor wanted to show his power and punish the people of Penang by warning that he would divert Sungei Muda. The Chinese appear to show more compassion than some Malay leaders.

There is another perplexing dilemma. Some Malays want to expel the Chinese from Malaysia because they claim that the Chinese refuse to assimilate into Malaysian society. So, how does one explain the huge numbers of Malays who think they are Arabs?

For the past five decades, Umno (the original party), Umno-Baru, PAS and now PN, have corrupted our morals - Malays and non-Malays. Malay politicians in 21st Century Malaysia have unimaginable power and control. They are also in charge of huge amounts of money and the potent combination of all three is like a junkie in ganja heaven.

The all-powerful Malay is so full of himself that he thinks anyone who disagrees with him poses a problem. So what does he do? Instead of allowing a debate on the issues, he passes new laws to curb dissent, like the Emergency (Essential Powers) (No 2) Ordinance 2021. Those found guilty of spreading "fake news" via writing, videos, audio recordings or any other forms that may convey "words or ideas" may be fined RM100,000 or sentenced to three years in jail.

These dictatorial Malays probably wish they were back in the middle ages, when anyone who criticised them could have been banished from the district, executed, or divested of his property and assets, and the members of his family could be enslaved.

Then, there is the dilemma of having daughters. Malay parents want their children to have an education because they and their forefathers have seen how poverty wrecked their lives; but when their daughters are motivated to go abroad or embark on a career which the parents do not consider normal, some parents end up regretting sending their daughters to school.

They claim that education has made their daughters independent and they see this as a bad thing. Instead of advancing their careers overseas, some parents would prefer that their daughters enter the civil service, or become teachers or stay in a local job.

The Malay is quick to criticise the founder of Sugarbook, a sugar daddy dating platform, but many keep quiet about perempuan simpanan - a term for kept women of rich older Malay men. A friend said that one does not need an app to become a sugar baby because 20 years ago, some of her course mates at a local public university would source their sugar daddy by going clubbing. The perempuan simpanan were given cars, lived in nice apartments and enjoyed foreign holidays. They also owned luxury accessories for services rendered.

The Malay woman who is a politician faces several dilemmas. Does she uphold the rights of the ordinary woman and child, or does she become a yes-man to her male peers, to maintain her popularity?

Take for example, the Minister for Women, Family and Community Development, Rina Harun (pix,above). Rina claimed that the PN government was committed to addressing the problem of child marriages. What actually has she done over the past year about banning child marriages? What policy changes did she initiate? She merely pays lip service to the banning of child marriages.

Has Rina addressed the suffering of many Malay single mothers, who were failed by the syariah courts, and were unable to get a settlement from their husbands, after the men had abandoned them for younger women? The syariah courts do not treat the problem of single mothers as a priority.

Will Rina also address the ease with which Malay men can enter into a polygamous relationship? On Feb 22, Mukhriz Mahathir criticised a government website that encouraged Muslim men who had an "incredible sense of sexual desire" to have multiple wives. After his criticism, the remarks vanished from the website.

Is PN promoting polygamy for the wrong reason? What is Rina's take on this? Will she dare confront her PAS counterparts or tell Muslim men the conditions attached to polygamy? This is the dilemma faced by many Muslim women. They suffer because of the inaction of Malay women politicians to address their problems.

On the other hand, the non-Malay politician's dilemma is that if he were to criticise child marriages, which affect the Malay Muslim community more than the other communities, he would be accused of insulting Islam. The Malay has many dilemmas and most of them are not of his own making. Most of his dilemmas are a consequence of the politicians who have manipulated his life with the three Rs (race, religion and royalty).

The Malay has a choice. Either he learns to separate the rice from the husk, and recognise the selfish motives of these ugly politicians. Or, he can be led by the nose, because it is far simpler to allow someone else to think and decide for him. Our lives are determined by the path the Malay takes. The Malay dilemma affects the future of all Malaysians. - Mariam Mokhtar

They created a narrative of fake superiority and entitlement that incapacitate the Malay to think critically and to move forward. They built into the minds of the Malays a fear of everything "Un Malay" The easiest punching bag are the Chinese Malaysians, driving them away in the process. Pemimpin veteran Umno, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah melabelkan PAS sebagai "pelacur politik" yang perlu ditewaskan pada pilihan raya umum (PRU) akan datang.

Dalam wawancara dengan The Malaysian Insight baru-baru ini, Ahli Parlimen Gua Musang selama 12 penggal itu berkata tindak-tanduk PAS dalam pilihan raya kecil sebelum ini membuktikan parti itu tidak boleh dipercayai.

“Di (pilihan raya kecil) Tanjung Piai, ketika mereka dah bersama dengan kita, PAS tidak mengundi kita, mereka ada 3,000 ahli di Tanjung Piai tapi tidak sampai 1,000 yangundi kita.Mereka bukan rakan kongsi yang jujur. Begitu juga di Semenyih.

"PAS macam pelacur, sekejap (sokong) DAP, sekejap Semangat 46," kata bekas presiden Semangat 46 itu merujuk kepada parti yang pernah dipimpinnya pada penghujung 1980 -an sebelum kembali menyertai Umno pada tahun 1996. - mk

Just Say It Was A Stupid Idea...

- Rais says impractical to lower voting age to 18 

- Time-consuming obstructions in implementing it

- Rais said take time to (find) 18-year-olds and constituencies 

This is the lamest excuse Rais could have made up.  Then how does our voter registration system work for 21 year olds? The system in our country is voluntary voter registration. Whether 18 years or 21 years old it is up to the voter to register himself to vote. Voting is not compulsory.  So I really dont know what Rais Yatim is talking about.  It was just another  stupid 'kuda liar'  idea by our previously unemployed MP that the voting age should be lowered to 18.

In this country you have one part of the village voting for panglima pintu belakang, another portion votes for Malu Apa Bossku and another part can vote for lebai k-nt-l.  If you ask me maybe we should increase the voting age to 45 or something.  In ancient Rome, ancient Greece or somewhere only taxpayers could vote. Before you qualified to vote you must show your taxpayers receipt.  

Some dunggus who want 18 year olds to vote say that at 18 years of age you are eligible to die for your country. So why shouldnt you vote for your country at 18 years of age? Hello 'die for your country at 18 years of age' is an Americanism lah. In America they have conscription for the Army. Meaning if needed the US government can tell them to join the Army (at 18 years of age) and go and get killed somewhere in the world. 

This is why dinosaurs like this one must no longer have the power to dictate the future of this country. Depriving the youth to be engaged in political issues, esp voting, will cause an increase in apathy, disengagement and disenfranchisement. Shame on you!!!...

In Israel and Singapore they also have conscription  where 18 year olds are conscripted into the Army.  In Israel, Army service is compulsory for both 18 year old males and females. In America and Singapore compulsory Army service is for males only.

In Malaysia our Army is a 100% volunteer Army. So far we do not need a conscription Army because there are so many unemployed in the country. There is always a long queue to join the Army, the Police, the teachers training colleges,  the Civil Service etc. So in Malaysia there is no such thing as 'die for your country at 18 years of age'.   In Malaysia it is more likely that 18 year olds can die racing their motorbikes on the way to the voting booths.

It does not matter if you are 45 years old. If you can support Malu Apa Bossku it simply means that you are retarded. It does not matter if you are Malay, Chinese, Indian or whatever. If you support a "47-kali-naik-turun-tangga-High-Court" nutjob as your political ally it means that you suffer an extreme case of "masuk-pintu-belakang" disease. You are retarded.

But that is exactly what your Panglima Pintu Belakang is saying now. He says he does not rule out the possibility of cooperating with Dumbno. And despite this, there are Indians and Chinese who still support Panglima Pintu Belakang. 

When Dumbno teamed up with Muhyiddin you screamed 'Pintu Belakang, Pintu Belakang'. When your own Panglima Pintu Belakang wants to team up with Dumbno you all scream 'Here is my b_ckside, here is my b_ckside'.  How does that logic work lah?

I am glad that Undi 18 crap is not going through. Please formalise it and just abolish, annul or whatever the earlier Parliamentary approval.

Why PM Muhyiddin refused to bring Hadi to Saudi? -

Coz Hadi is a terrorist to Saudi Arabia and Allies...

Everyone would be eager to follow Muhyiddin Yassin and his entourage to Saudi Arabia for obvious reason. A free trip to the kingdom of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques would provide not only an opportunity to visit the Kaabah and other Islamic places, but also to perform “Umrah”. So, why didn’t Hadi Awang follow the prime minister’s four-day official visit to Saudi?

 

It’s incredibly strange that the holy PAS Islamic party president would miss a golden opportunity to the holy land. It’s not like Mr. Hadi was busy with his work. It screams “X-Files” paranormal phenomena that as Special Envoy to the Middle East with ministerial rank, Hadi was excluded in the delegation, a trip which involved a meeting with the Saudi’s future King.

 

After all, the position – Special Envoy to the Middle East – was especially custom-made for the supposedly holiest man of PAS. The title alone suggests that Hadi Awang was influential enough to represent Malaysia not only in Saudi, but also the entire Middle East region. Therefore, it’s a humiliation of the highest order that his boss had refused to bring him together.

Exactly why was the prime minister so ashamed of the PAS president? As weird as it may sound, PM Muhyiddin could not bring Hadi Awang with him, even if he wanted to. Hadi may carry an impressive badge as a special envoy, but as far as Saudi Arabia and its allies (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt) are concerned, Hadi Awang is still regarded as a terrorist.

 

Yes, PAS president Hadi Awang is a “terrorist” by virtue of him as one of the four vice-presidents of Qatar-based International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), an organization which Saudi, the de-facto leader of the Middle East, has banned and categorised as a “terrorist organization”. Obviously, PM Muhyiddin could not bring a terrorist to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

 

The special aircraft of the Malaysian leader will not be allowed to enter the Saudi’s air space if Muhyiddin insisted on bringing Hadi. Even though Saudi was desperate for friends after a U.S. intelligence report, approved by Biden administration, finally exposed that Saudi Crown Prince approved the murder of exiled Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018, the kingdom takes very seriously the threats of terrorism.

The fact that Saudi refused to give face to Muhyiddin in the case of Hadi Awang speaks volumes about how radical, extreme and dangerous the PAS president is. But the backdoor prime minister has his own priorities with his first official visit to Saudi – to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, Islamic affairs and to ask for financial help in funding the coming general election.

 

Hadi’s failure to step foot on Saudi soil also means a letter which he wrote last year had indeed ended up in a trash bin. Upon his appointment as special envoy, the PAS president had written a letter in Arabic to all Muslim leaders worldwide in order to justify his new position. The letter was meant to impress upon Saudi of his legitimacy, which fails spectacularly.

 

In the letter, which was exposed in April 2020, Hadi had falsely claimed that the legitimate and democratically multiracial elected Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was working in cahoots with the U.S. and European countries to bring down then-Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. He had also lied that PH’s victory in the 2018 General Election had benefited or sided the non-Muslims.

Claiming that Mahathir had been used by non-Muslims in PH to topple former premier Najib Razak, the despicable PAS leader had rained praises on Mahathir, saying the 94-year-old man was a bigger champion of Islam. Hadi accused PH of having achieved power through treachery, when in fact Hadi and Muhyiddin were the real traitors who seized power undemocratically.

In the same letter, Hadi rejected PM-in-waiting Anwar Ibrahim due to his questionable personal character (presumably related to his sodomy conviction) as well as his dangerous political pragmatism. However, the PAS president deliberately hid the fact that Anwar had officially been pardoned by former Agong (King) – Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan.

The “munafiq” (hypocrite) Mr Hadi had also conveniently hidden the fact in the letter that the Muhyiddin’s backdoor government, of which his Islamic party is part of, had willingly worked with Azmin Ali, the traitor who did not only betray his own PKR party, but was also caught with his pants down engaging in “gay sex” at Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Sandakan, Sabah.

However, the not so clever PAS leader did not realize his mistake when he sang songs of praise and worshipped Mahathir in his half-baked letter to the Muslim world. Saudi was furious at Mahathir for trying to use the KL Summit 2019 to boost his image as the champion in the Muslim world, and in the process had invited Saudi’s regional rivals – Iran, Qatar and Turkey.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was offended by the presence of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim at Kuala Lumpur. It was so bad that Mahathir had to cancel a scheduled dialogue session and was forced to hold an urgent video conference – explaining and clarifying to King Salman about the KL Summit.

Saudi, the de-facto leader of OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), was apparently upset that Malaysia tried to replace OIC as the ultimate platform to discuss Muslim issues. After a lengthy lecture by King Salman, who boycotted the KL Summit, the outspoken Mahathir humbly told the monarch that Malaysia was too small to take over the Saudi’s position as the leader of the Muslim world.

The most hilarious part was when silly Hadi used the KL Summit 2019 platform to open his toxic mouth. Not only did the extremist express his strong support for the summit, but stupidly slammed Saudi for its failure to protect Muslims worldwide in its capacity as leader of OIC. Mr Hadi, whose support for the Muslim Brotherhood and Iranian regime is well known, probably thought Saudi was gullible.

It was already bad that he is in the terrorist list of Saudi Arabia. To make matters worse, he is an Iranian hardcore supporter. But the last straw that broke the camel’s back was his reckless condemnation of Saudi in 2019. He thought his lengthy “fairy tale” letter to the Muslim world could divert attention from the fact that he is a terrorist in the Middle East.

But it appears the Muslim world did not buy Hadi’s bullshit story. He still hadn’t figured out that America – even Israel – are close friends of Saudi and its allies. Saudi’s neighbours, Egypt and Jordan, already host Israeli embassies in 1979 and 1994. Last year, Israel established diplomatic relations with four more Arab League countries – Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sudan and Morocco.

Hadi’s attempt to badmouth Pakatan Harapan (PH), accusing it of working in cahoots with the U.S. and European countries, did not work. Instead, after a year in the government, Saudi still refuses to recognize his credentials. What type of Special Envoy to the Middle East who cannot travel to the Middle East? Isu penggunaan kalimah Allah, pada masa tu Pas ada dua "mazhab". Satu, Mazhab Allahyarham Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz yang bersetuju penggunaan kalimah Allah untuk non Muslim. Dua, mazhab Allahyarham Ustaz Harun Din yang tidak bersetuju penggunaan kalimah Allah untuk Non Muslim.

Saya ketika itu antara yang bersetuju penggunaan kalimah Allah kepada Non Muslim, sehingga kerajaan Negeri kelantan menjemput saya membentangkan hujah agama dalam mendokong pandangan saya.

The High Court has ruled that the use of the word Allah by non-Muslims all over Malaysia is allowed. In addition, other prohibited words such as Baitullah, Kaabah and solat, which were banned by the Cabinet in 1986, could also be used by the community for teaching purposes as they have been in use in Sabah and Sarawak and some parts of Peninsular Malaysia for more than 400 years.

This follows Court of Appeal Justice Datuk Nor Bee Ariffin, sitting as the High Court judge, in allowing the judicial review by Sarawak Melanau clerk Jill Ireland, and ruling that the directive by the Home Ministry not to allow the use of the four prohibited words, including Allah, is filled with illegality and irrationality.

With this, she allowed Ireland's declaration and ruled that the use of the words would not disrupt public order. Ireland was challenging a ban on the use of the word Allah, which resulted in eight CD items she brought in from Indonesia 13 years ago to be confiscated at the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) as they bore those words.

Although the CDs had been returned, she went ahead with the judicial challenge that included a challenge of a circular issued by the Home Ministry over a total ban of the use of the four words — Allah, Baitullah, solat and Kaabah — unless there was a written word Christian published in front.

In her decision, Justice Nor Bee ruled that the circular issued following the 1986 Cabinet directive is null and void. She finds the circular, which was signed by a Home Ministry officer and not a minister, provided a blanket ban over the use of the four words, which was not the directive's intention.

"The directive on the prohibition that it would result in a threat in public order is not supported. In fact, the directive is deemed irrational and perverse," she said.

She said the Publication and Printing Presses Act 1987 (PPPA) is there to check on undesirable publications and not for the purpose of maintaining public order, morality or health.

"If the minister (then Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar) does not follow the law regulating the exercise of his power, then he has acted illegally, as he has gone beyond the limit of his power. The minister must understand the law. If the minister does not follow the law, he has acted illegally. In the present case, the minister has not acted according to the act (PPPA).

"The impugned directive (blanket ban circular) cannot be considered to be a subsidiary legislation," Nor Bee ruled.

After deliberating over the issue — which also touches on freedom of religion — for more than one-and-a-half hours, Justice Nor Bee subsequently allowed three declaratory relief sought by Ireland. - theedgemarkets

The 15th General Election, 

an UMNO-PH breakthrough?... 

The perceived wisdom now prevailing is that the next general election will bring no dominant party into power, hence political instability will continue. In that scenario, party-hopping will be rampant, and there will be no time left for governing the country. Imbued with the shenanigans of the present crop of leaders, it is no wonder that people are getting frustrated, cynical and pessimistic about the political process. It does not have to be that way.

Pakatan Harapan's clear victory in 2018 was premised on the simple idea that the sizeable bloc held by Anwar Ibrahim-DAP just needed a Malay leader of influence to bring them across the line. 

It was a profitable venture because Dr Mahathir Mohamad was prepared to join them, not out of love for the progressive forces in the country, but because he wanted to defeat Najib Abdul Razak.

The mistake of Harapan leaders was plain to see. Having won the election, they allowed Mahathir time to derail Harapan and Anwar. All because they failed to see the clear signs before them (cabinet position can affect your vision) that Mahathir was not interested in making Harapan a success. Many believe that the “Sheraton Move” was his idea from start to finish.

The Anwar-DAP pact needs to work closely with another set of Malay leaders with influence. The best available for them is to work with Umno. Umno has leaders with the ability to influence Malay voters and together, a PKR-Umno pact will bring in the largest number of seats since the good old days of BN dominance. This will bring stability to the country, and many good things can be done with a stable government. But who will be the prime minister?

This issue should not be placed at the forefront, and I don't think it is difficult to resolve. It is either Anwar or a nominee from Umno, and the number of seats obtained by each grouping will have a bearing on the decision of who helms the top post. The definitive moment in Anwar's political career.

The main hindrance to successfully implementing this simple plan comes from factions within PKR and Umno. From Anwar's camp, you will have voices objecting to the plan because they do not see Umno as a progressive force that will bring reforms to the institutions and fight corruption. They will cite the cases of Umno leaders before the courts.

My response is this: Anwar as a leader must make this call. It will be the definitive moment of his career. Umno has to be the working partner for PKR. Tell the cynics that almost all leaders from all the parties in this country have taken some pecuniary advantage from their political positions.

Unfortunately, not all have faced prosecutions because prosecutions are usually reserved for those who do not support the incumbents. The unfair use of government agencies to pressure political opponents is another reason why some politicians are seen as clean, and others as corrupt.

Let us not fight one another on the basis of what happened in the past. Abandon the arrogance that one is cleaner or more honourable than the other. A “holier than thou” attitude will not bring political stability. It will prevent good leaders from taking power, for they are in the best position to change the country.

What is essential, for a start, is for PKR and Umno to agree on crucial institutional reforms such as the police oversight commission, changes to MACC and to have greater scrutiny over the appointment of key positions like the attorney-general, Bank Negara governor and Dewan Rakyat speaker.

Umno leaders will agree to these reforms because they have, for the first time in their history, been subject to unfair treatment from those in power. They, like Anwar, will want changes so that the practice of using political power to annihilate opponents will come to an end.

There are some in Umno who think that Anwar-DAP is political anathema. They will not do a deal with the forces considered as too liberal and friendly with the non-Malays. I will not worry too much about them. Their thinking is outdated.

Malays want empowerment. Malay political power is a given since they form the majority of the voters. What Malays crave for now is not political power of the type they had in the last 60 years. The Malays want empowerment.  Where are the Malays now compared to the other races? Have they built Malaysia the way the Chinese built Singapore? Not at all. The process must begin now.

What we need is a good government with sound policies that will empower the Malays and other Malaysians, so the country can be great. Identity politics, they say, is alive and well. If that is true, it is because we make no attempt to give a new narrative, one that makes them relevant in this new world. We need a policy that empowers the people, not their identity. An Umno-PKR alliance will be the first step in this direction.

Many hawks in Umno are already supporting the Bersatu-PAS alliance to preserve the so-called Malay/Islamic dominance. Let them continue. However, there are many Umno leaders who are pragmatists. They are secured because Umno's brand as the defender of bumiputera rights cannot be disputed. No right-thinking Malay will accuse them of treachery if they embark on reforms relevant to the needs of the country.

Umno does not need PAS as an ally (unless they are forced to). Umno is committed to developing the country and its economy and providing better livelihood to the people. PAS' interests lie somewhere else. 

Umno needs allies not only to secure a significant workable majority, but also because it knows that the country has to be run and managed by competent leaders of different nationalities and outlook. Otherwise, the country will be left far behind.

It is time for leaders to be practical and cease indulging in hyperbole and fantasy. Those who wish to see real reforms must be willing to work with Malay political groupings of influence. Otherwise, reforms will fail again.

Umno, too, must stop believing in its own propaganda that Anwar and DAP are enemies of the people. The ghost of the past must be laid to rest - and only then can new dreams take hold. - Zaid Ibrahim,mk

project cancelled...

The official ground-breaking ceremony for the Sultan Ibrahim Solar Park project in Pengerang, which was initially scheduled to be officiated by HM The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar on 23rd March, has been cancelled. The decision was made as the Federal Government has yet to give any response with regards to the proposed project.

His Majesty had last week announced that Johor will become a leading producer of renewable clean energy with the commissioning of the power plant by 2023.The RM1.4 billion development is Johor’s first foray into large-scale sustainable energy production with a combined installed capacity of 450MW (megawatts) - the biggest in Southeast Asia. 

It is also Johor’s first major private investment in 2021 and is the result of HM Sultan Ibrahim’s continued efforts to draw investment and development to boost the socio-economic wellbeing of the people in the state. The project is also in line with the 2030 Johor Sustainable Development Plan which places major emphasis on environmental preservation and protection as part of the state’s economic development plan for a more prosperous society.

It will also have a positive economic spillover effect for the state, with job creation at various levels, as the solar park will be the region’s largest solar energy storage system when fully operational.

“I don’t see any reason why the Federal Government would not be willing to give Johor a chance to be an eco-friendly producer of electricity. We have a suitable plot for the project, robust growth and development, as well as a healthy demand from our neighbour, which makes Johor a most strategic location,” said His Majesty. - Johore Today
