From Crook To Thug – Former PM Najib Unleashed Gangsters To Beat 6 University Students...

Six students of University Malaya were just trying to exercise their constitutional right to assembly and freedom of expression. However, their weapons – placards and a clown caricature – appeared to be too insulting and damaging to former Prime Minister Najib Razak, so he unleashed a pack of gangsters upon the six peaceful demonstrators.

The students must have hit where it hurt crooked Mr Najib the most when the placards that read – “Najib tak malu (Najib is shameless)” and “Mana RM2.6 billion? (Where is the RM2.6 billion?)” – were seen as too provocative to the former Malaysian leader, whose private bank account was discovered to have a stash of US$681 million (RM2.6 billion).

A big cut-out of a caricature of the former premier as a clown, popularly used during “Bersih” movement which ultimately brought down the previous Barisan Nasional regime led by Najib, was perhaps the final straw that broke the camel’s back. UMNO supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam went straight for the caricature and grabbed it and furiously tore it into pieces.

Humiliated by the caricature, as if it was more lethal than a WMD (weapon of mass destruction), Mr. Lokman led his gang of thugs charging against the six university students who held their mini rally behind a railing, while Najib was having a programme at a nearby restaurant. Najib’s gangsters then climbed over the railing and started shouting at the students.

The six students were overwhelmed by the UMNO’s gangsters, whose intimidation and confrontation quickly turned aggressive and ugly. Soon, a scuffle broke out between the Najib’s thuggish supporters and the University Malaya students. One of Najib’s thugs even held University Malaya Association of New Youth president Wong Yan Ke in a reverse chokehold and grabbed his hair and hit him.

Najib Razak, the first prime minister in the history of the country to be slapped with record 42 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT), money laundering and abuse of power, has been screaming for freedom of expression after his downfall. Yet, the same Najib could not accept it when the students practised the same constitutional right across the street from the restaurant where he was speaking.

Not only were the students physically beaten, at least two journalists from Malaysiakini were also harassed by the thuggish UMNO leaders – Lokman and Petaling Jaya Selatan UMNO chief Mutalib Abdul Rahim. As Malaysiakini intern Jimadie Shah Othman was trying to call her boss to alert him of the confrontation, Mutalib snatched a name card from the journalist.

The assault on the students was so bad that Minister of Education, Dr Maszlee Malik, had condemned Najib’s supporters as “thugs, extremist and terrorist”. Heck, not impressed that their hooliganism was exposed, Najib’s minions incredibly played the racial card – twisting and spinning that the university students’ peaceful demonstration deserved the beatings for “insulting the Malays”.

Yes, not only Najib’s band of gangsters possesses very low intellectual and emotional intelligence, they also cowardly used the racial card to justify their extremism and terrorism mentality. If UMNO leaders could still demonstrate their gangsterism toward undergraduates, even after the party had lost its power 10 months ago, imagine their past barbaric behaviour.

Why no police action against attackers at UM?

Najib has expressed his regret over what he called a “commotion”, but refuses to condemn his blue-eyed boy Lokman’s act of terrorism. The shameless former UMNO president, amusingly, claimed that the attacker who assaulted University Malaya Association of New Youth president Wong Yan Ke was not a party member, but just a passerby.

Sure, that was what the serial liar Najib told the world too when his partner-in-crime Jho Low (fullname: Low Taek Jho) was fully exposed four years ago. During the March-April parliamentary session back in 2015, Najib told Parliament that Mr. Low had never worked in 1MDB, or had any business dealings with the 1MDB investment fund.

The defiant Lokman – Najib’s strongest supporter and loudest cheerleader – appears to have lost his mind after losing his lucrative position as Director of Communications of the Finance Ministry which he held from Dec 2016 to May 2018. Since then, he has been stirring up racial and religion sentiments among the Malays that they have lost power to the “Chinese, Christians and Communists”.

After the attacks, the twisted minds of racist Lokman claims that the student whom was beaten by the so-called “passerby” gangster “should be grateful that UMNO members rescued him from a beating”. The scumbag said – “The student should be grateful because UMNO leaders were there and stopped him from being beaten by people who were angered by their rudeness.”

Mr Lokman’s stupidity was so amazing that his colleague, former UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who had previously promised to sack him for having “IQ of a carrot”, agreed that the actions of Najib’s gangsters was unacceptable and that the party must condemn the thuggish behaviour shown.

Curiously, the Royal Malaysia Police under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohamad Fuzi Harun seems to have thrown their support behind Najib’s gangsters. Instead of arresting and charging the UMNO thugs, the police have questioned the university students instead. Perhaps Fuzi, one of 17,000 political appointees under Najib regime, was hallucinating that his former boss is still the prime minister.

At best, the despicable IGP Fuzi should have charged Lokman and his gang members of criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of two years in jail or fine, or both, upon conviction. At worst, the UMNO gangsters should be charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing hurt, which carries a maximum jail sentence of 20 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.

Clearly, even after the corrupt and racist UMNO party was defeated last May, its scumbags continue to act as if they are still the government of the day. But the burning question is this – why PM Mahathir’s lieutenant – Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin – closed one eye despite the police force openly support the UMNO gangsters? Perhaps it’s alright to bash the students since they’re Chinese. - FT

Putri Reformasi kongsi sebab 'patah hati'...

Ahli Parlimen Permatang Pauh Nurul Izzah Anwar mengaku "patah hati" dengan perkembangan politik kebelakangan ini.

Dalam wawancara Straits Times, Nurul Izzah juga memberi gambaran bahawa penggal ini akan menjadi yang terakhir baginya sebagai wakil rakyat.

Memberi gambaran tentang perkembangan politik dalam tempoh setahun lalu, anak perempuan Presiden PKR Anwar Ibrahim itu berkata: "Sangat mencabar dan huru-hara. Saya belajar banyak perkara, tapi saya juga rasa saya sudah seperti patah hati."

Wawancara itu menggambarkan Nurul Izzah sebagai keberatan menyatakan secara spesifik sebab patah hati kerana mahu terus memberi "hormat" dan tidak ingin mengeruhkan lagi keadaan.

Bagaimanapun, Nurul Izzah menyebutkan beberapa perkara yang mengecewakannya.

Salah satunya, Nurul Izzah mengakui penyertaan bekas ahli parlimen Umno dalam parti komponen PH merupakan perkara yang mengecewakannya.

"Ia situasi sukar yang sangat buruk, bukan hanya untuk PKR, tapi juga untuk pengundi dan rakyat Malaysia secara keseluruhannya.

"Ia situasi yang sangat menyedihkan kerana saya percaya sistem dua gabungan penting untuk masa depan Malaysia," katanya.

Nurul Izzah juga menegaskan perlunya naratif jelas untuk menguatkan golongan yang dianggap moderat.

"Kita tidak begitu tumpu untuk menguatkan yang di tengah-tengah. Kita tidak cukup berusaha untuk ketengahkan golongan yang dianggap moderat," tambahnya.

Selain itu, bekas naib presiden PKR itu turut mengakui cabaran bekerjasama dengan Perdana Menteri Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang satu ketika dulu merupakan seteru ayahnya.

"Bekerja dengan bekas diktator yang menyebabkan banyak kerosakan, bukan saja pada kehidupan keluarga kami, tapi juga sistem (pentadbiran negara). Ia bukan sesuatu yang mudah," katanya.

Dua hari lalu, Nurul Izzah dilapor meletakkan jawatan dalam Jawatankuasa Kira-Kira Wang Negara (PAC).

Perkembangan itu hadir selepas Dr Mahathir mengarahkan agar Ronald Kiandee terus memegang jawatan pengerusi PAC, meskipun bekas ahli parlimen BN itu sudah menyertai PH.

Keputusan Dr Mahathir itu dilihat bercanggah dengan manifesto PH yang berjanji agar pengerusi PAC diketuai pemimpin pembangkang.

Disember tahun lalu, Nurul Izzah membuat keputusan yang mengejutkan apabila meletakkan jawatan sebagai naib presiden PKR dan Pengerusi PKR Pulau Pinang.

Nurul Izzah juga sudah melepaskan semua jawatan dalam kerajaan dan menumpukan untuk menjadi ahli parlimen. - mk

National agenda for all irrespective of race...

Former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin talked about the country's prevalent political and social environment at a recent forum. He said the country was at risk of falling into the trap of racism and religionism despite a change of the federal government.

For their own interests, Umno and PAS have called for the unity of all the Malays, and have accused the PH government of not taking care of them. Under such political manipulation, many Malays believe that their racial and religious interests are indeed being threatened.

As Daim has said, if the Malays continue to lack a sense of security, low-income Malays will remain impoverished and this would give rise to economic instability which will eventually affect all Malaysians. As the largest ethnic group in the country, sure enough what happens to the Malays will also affect the country as a whole.

Daim went on further that the country could only be successful if the Malays are successful, but this would have to be built upon the basis of cooperation among all Malaysians, not with the interest of the Malays as primary consideration.

The sense of insecurity among the Malays to a very large extent stems from current changes to the economic and political benefits acquired under the patronage of the previous BN administration, coupled with the incitement from irresponsible politicians.

Another reason could be the inconsistent government policies as a consequence of unpredictable external economic environment and PH's lack of political management experience. Daim has reminded the Malays to look back at the country's history and think logically so as not to be misled by racist and irresponsible politicians.

He urged the Malays to see the reality that they are not the losers and that there are indeed many Malays who are successful. Unfortunately many of them are so obsessed with being successful that they find themselves unable to adapt to failures and setbacks.

We must know that many Malaysians, in particular smallholders and companies, are experiencing difficulty because of the absence of economic dynamism and powerful policies. The gloomy economic outlook along with political uncertainties have triggered a sense of insecurity not only among the Malays but all other ethnic communities as well.

We cannot deny that the Malays are dominating this country politically. What Daim has said is not only relevant to the Malays in general but should also serve as a warning to the PH government not to fall into the quagmire of racism and religionism under the pressure from an Umno-PAS tie-up.

PH must not compete with Umno-PAS in bumi agenda but should take the advice of Daim to push ahead a national agenda for all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion. The ruling coalition must make sure every ethnic group in this country can gain a fair access to the country's wealth and prosper together.

The government's most pressing task now is to lift the national economy and fulfill its election pledges. The national agenda of social harmony and unity can only progress further to fulfill the dream of a New Malaysia after all Malaysians feel a sense of security and prosper together as one nation. - sinchew daily

Nurul Izzah memberi alasan peletakan itu kerana tidak bersetuju dengan pengekalan ahli parlimen Beluran Sabah Ronald Kiandee sebagai pengerusi PAC, walaupun ahli parlimen dari Umno itu kini sudah menyertai Bersatu. Bagi Nurul Izzah pengekalan Ronald Kiandee itu sebagai melanggar manifesto PH yang sebelum ini menjanjikan pengerusi PAC perlu dipegang oleh pembangkang, kerana itu sebahagian daripada reform parlimen.

Sebelum ini Ronald Kiandee adalah ahli parlimen pembangkang. Seharusnya apabila beliau sudah menyertai parti komponen PH beliau tidak lagi terus memegang jawatan itu kerana ia bertentangan dengan semangat PH. Ronald Kiandee sebagai seorang ahli parlimen dan pernah menjadi timbalan speaker seharusnya tahu bagaimana untuk menjaga maruah dan integriti politiknya. Beliau kena meletak jawatannya walaupun tanpa disuruh.

Ketidaksetujuan Izzah itu betul, tetapi dengan cara beliau melepas jawatan sebagai anggota PAC tanpa terlebih dahulu menimbulkan ketidaksetujuannya dalam parlimen, kurang tepat. Apakah Nurul Izzah sudah membawanya ke dalam parlimen dan mendapat komenter daripada anggota lain? Sepatutnya begitu.

Dengan cara protes bersendirian itu ia tidak akan ke mana. Jika protes itu untuk memberi sedar kepada Dr Mahathir saya kira ia tidak memberi apa-apa kesan. Kerana Dr mahathir sesudah menjadi PM, beliau kini bersikap persis kerbau kenyang yang tidur di tepi lebuh raya. Kerbau kalau sudah kenyang, dia akan sandarkan dirinya di mana-mana sahaja, tanpa mempedulikan keadaan sekeliling, bingit atau tidak, ia tidak dipedulikan.

Nah begitu jugalah Dr Mahathir. Sebaik-baik untuk gerakkan kerbau kenyang itu harus pakat tolak ramai-ramai, proteskan dalam parlimen atau peringkat jawatan kuasa PAC, atau dalam majlis presiden baru dia bangun dan mencari tempat tidur lain yang lebih selamat. Bagi saya tindakan Izzah itu sia-sia, dan berapa banyak lagi beliau harus menggadai jawatan dan tanggungjawabnya kerana mempertahankan sebuah maruah yang tidak dinilai orang?Lama-lama saya fikir dia juga kena lepas kerusi Permatang Pauh. - MSO

Majoriti wanita di seluruh New Zealand hari ini memakai tudung kepala sebagai tanda solidariti genap seminggu setelah peristiwa serangan berdarah membunuh 50 orang di dua buah masjid di Chirstchurch.

Seorang doktor dari Auckland, Thaya Ashman tampil mengutarakan idea berkenaan mengajak seluruh wanita di negara itu memakai tudung kepala tanpa mengira agama setelah mendapati ada berita mengatakan wanita Muslim diancam serangan pengganas sekiranya keluar memakai tudung di tempat awam.

Katanya, “Saya mahu memberitahu, kami semua bersama anda, kami mahu anda rasa selamat berada di luar seperti berada di rumah, kami sayang dan menyokong serta menghormati pendirian agama kamu”.

Sementara itu, buat pertama kali dalam sejarah negara itu, azan berkumandang di seluruh negara sebagai tanda menghormati pemergian mangsa yang terkorban dalam kejadian minggu lalu.

Perdana Menteri, Jacinda Ardern mengarahkan seluruh stesen televisyen dan radio berbuat demikian dalam arahan eksekutif segera dua hari lalu selain menarik balik pemilikan senjata api semi-automatik dan senapang kepada individu berkuat kuasa serta-merta. - f/bk

A judicial system operates like a business cartel ...

 Dr.M’s Weapon To Bypass Corrupt Top Judges Still In Control Of Kangaroo Court...

When Hamid Sultan Abu Backer, a Court of Appeal Judge, exposed last month (14 Feb) that there were members of the judiciary who have been working with private parties to scam the government, almost everybody was stunned. While the public knew the existence of Kangaroo Court, they hadn’t the clue that the judges were such a scumbag in swindling public funds.

You don’t have to be a smart, dedicated and clean judge to get a promotion. In fact, such judges would not be promoted at all. Judges were promoted either because they happened to attend the same school or because they simply followed the orders of other top judges. Not only judges who refused to follow orders were denied promotion, they would most often than not harassed.

As a result, Malaysia’s judicial system operates like a business cartel – a gangland of corrupt judges working hand-in-glove with executives to make money. The reward could be extraordinary, as can be seen in the 2009 Perak Constitutional Crisis which brought down the now-defunct Pakatan Rakyat government so that Najib could snatch back the Perak state using illegal and despicable methods.

Yes, we’re talking about then-Chief Justice Zaki Azmi and UMNO top lawyer Hafarizam Harun. As a reward for their roles in helping former Prime Minister Najib Razak, a RM2.2 billion contract for the 50-km Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project was gifted to Emrail Sdn Bhd and Zabima Engineering Sdn Bhd – companies owned by Zaki and Hafarizam.

After Court of Appeal Judge Hamid told all and sundry that top judges in the country were the tyrants in the Palace of Justice, there’s one person who wasn’t surprised with the explosive affidavit. That person is none other than Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. While every Tom, Dick and his hamster demanded for a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI), Mahathir wasn’t keen on such an idea.

Initially, Mahathir said the government would study the proposal to set up an RCI, but he was also quick to add – “However, we don’t really run down the judiciary openly.” Very few actually asked the real meaning behind the 93-year-old premier’s statement. Exactly why did the old man give an impression that the judiciary was somehow “untouchable”?

A week after the judicial misconduct was exposed, PM Mahathir announced the setting up of an RCI to investigate the allegations of scams between certain top judges and private litigants to cheat the government. However, close to a month after the setting up of the RCI, the terms have yet to be determined. So, was Mahathir government serious about this so-called RCI?

Mahathir, having ruled from 1981 to 2003 before returning as premier again last May, knew more than anyone that RCI has been just a toothless tiger. Who can forget the RCI into the Lingam tape, set up in 2007 to investigate lawyer V.K. Lingam after he was caught on a video clip boasting about how he could arrange judges’ appointments through his political and business contacts?

There was even a photo of Lingam and former Chief Justice Tun Eusoff Chin fishing side by side at New Zealand’s Lake Wakatipu. Yet, nothing was done after the royal panel found there was evidence that lawyer V.K. Lingam had committed criminal misbehaviour. It would take the Federal Court another 10 years (2017) to sentence the despicable lawyer to six months in jail.

Even then, he was found guilty of contempt of court for accusing a federal court judge of plagiarism in a written judgment, not because of his role in brokering the appointments and promotions of judges in the country. But Lingam never gets to be sent to prison. For two years, he enjoyed his luxurious lifestyle overseas and escaped jail – applying to set aside his conviction and jail term.

Lingam actually left the country in 2013 and had not returned, postponing multiple court proceedings using medical certificates to argue he was unfit to travel. It would take Chief Justice Richard Malanjum, who headed the Federal Court five-man bench, to set aside Lingam conviction for contempt of court and six months jail in January this year.

If a lawyer like Lingam could play the judiciary system from 2007 until 2019, and still nowhere to be found in prison, imagine what a heavyweight like ex-PM Najib could manipulate with the system after plundering and stealing billions of dollars. Crooks like Lingam and Najib have very little respect for the judiciary system.

Najib had defiantly and deliberately refused to enter the “dock” during the case management over his 25 charges of graft and money laundering relating to transactions amounting to RM2.3 billion linked to 1MDB. He had freely and silently walked out of the court room for a so-called “toilet break” while the legal proceedings were ongoing, not to mention sleeping in front of a three-member Court of Appeal bench.

Heck, even Najib’s own hotshot lawyer – Shafee Abdullah – joined the bandwagon, using his pet dog as an excuse to delay his client’s trial. Amazingly, all the judges appeared to be on Najib and Shafee’s side, allowing them to do as they wish. When Mahathir said “we don’t really run down the judiciary openly,” what he actually meant was the judiciary is so broken and corrupted it’s beyond repair.

To clean up the judicial will require the firing of at least 80% of the judges, a process which will definitely cripple the system and create massive havoc. That’s why Mahathir said the government cannot run down the judiciary. But there’re many ways to skin the fat cats of the past corrupt politicians of the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) regime.

One of the fastest ways is to set up a Special High Court and Special Appeal Court specifically for corruption cases, as suggested by PM Mahathir two days ago (19 March) . The new government was frustrated as judges still loyal to the crooked Najib’s regime have used the excuse that they were too busy handling other cases to expedite the graft trial of former premier Najib Razak.

In the same breath, the proposal to establish the Special High Court could also mean that more crooks under the previous BN government would be investigated and slapped with charges. It also shows the seriousness of the corruption problem affecting the country. So, crooks have every reason to worry about this latest proposal.

There would be no excuses to delay the trials on corruption cases anymore. More importantly, clean judges can be cherry picked to head the special court. Still, the government cannot set up a Special High Court overnight. It will require new laws to legitimise the new court. Clearly, this is a shortcut to bypass the corrupt top judges who are still in control of the Kangaroo Court. - FT

Dalam lawatannya ke Kedah baru-baru ini, Menteri Hal Ehwal Ekonomi, Azmin Ali mengumumkan tujuh projek yang telah diluluskan oleh kerajaan Pusat untuk negeri tersebut. Salah satunya ialah Lapangan Terbang antarabangsa baru di Kulim dengan kos pembinaan sebanyak RM1.6 bilion.

Bagaimanapun sebaik pengumuman itu dibuat, ramai pihak melahirkan rasa tidak setuju dengan langkah kerajaan itu atas beberapa faktor. Mereka mempersoalkan bagaimana sebuah lapangan terbang baru boleh dipersetujui untuk dibina di Kulim, sedangkan ia tidak begitu jauh jaraknya dengan Lapangan Terbang Alor Setar dan Lapangan Terbang Bayan Lepas di Pulau Pinang?

Siapakah yang mahu menggunakan Lapangan Terbang Kulim nanti? Lebih daripada itu, melalui pembinaan lapangan terbang baru itu, termasuk di Langkawi, bermakna Kedah akhirnya akan ada tiga lapangan terbang jadinya. Adakah ia sesuatu yang munasabah bagi negeri kecil dan tidak begitu membangun seperti Kedah?

Ada juga yang berhujah mengapa tidak diperbesarkan saja Lapangan Terbang Alor Setar berbanding dengan membina sebuah lapangan terbang baru di Kulim itu? Sebab itu, antara pihak yang turut tidak senang dengan keputusan membina lapangan terbang Kulim itu ialah Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang, Chow Kon Yeow yang bertanya sama ada kajian kebolehlaksanaan telah dilakukan terlebih dahulu atau tidak oleh pihak kerajaan.

Kemudian hari ini terdapat pula laporan yang mengatakan bahawa Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad atau MAHB masih belum menerima laporan daripada kerajaan berhubung pembinaan lapangan terbang itu. CEO MAHB, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin berkata, MAHB hanya mengetahui tentang pembinaan lapangan terbang itu melalui laporan akhbar semata-mata.

Macam mana ini boleh berlaku? Bagaimana pembinaan sebuah lapangan terbang boleh diumumkan oleh Azmin beserta dengan kosnya sekali, sedangkan MAHB tidak tahu apa-apa mengenainya? Beginikah cara sebuah kerajaan menjalankan kerjanya – umumkan projek terlebih dahulu dan kajian hanya akan dibuat kemudian?

Seterusnya, Azmin tampil lagi hari ini dengan mengatakan pembinaan lapangan terbang Kulim itu dibiayai 100 peratus oleh pihak swasta. Soalnya, adakah syarikat swasta yang sanggup mengeluarkan wang sebanyak RM1.6 bilion untuk lapangan terbang yang belum tentu boleh maju dan mendapat sambutan ramai?

Siapakah syarikat swasta yang sanggup melaburkan wang sebanyak itu? Atau mungkinkah syarikat yang sanggup berbuat demikian itu merupakan sebuah syarikat daripada China melalui pertukaran dengan kesanggupan menurunkan harga pembinaan Landasan Keretapi Pantai Timur atau ECRL yang sedang dirundingkan oleh kerajaan?

La ni baru nak tanya pasai kos ECRL, dulu jadi setan bisu...

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad mempersoalkan kenapa pembangkang baru tidak membangkitkan isu berkaitan kos berkaitan projek projek Laluan Rel Pantai Timur (ECRL) ketika menjadi kerajaan sebelum ini.

Katanya perkara itu sudah terlambat kerana persetujuan telah ditandatangani.Kerajaan, kata perdana menteri, terpaksa merunding semula perjanjian RM81 bilion dengan China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC).

Beliau berkata demikian ketika menjawab soalan tambahan Ketua Pembangkang Ismail Sabri semasa sesi soal jawab parlimen hari ini.

Beliau juga bertanya kembali kenapa Ismail tidak membangkitkan berkaitan kos rundingan dan pemilikan tanah untuk projek itu sebelum ini.Mahathir juga berkata projek Laluan Rel Pantai Timur (ECRL) akan diteruskan pada skala yang sesuai apabila rundingan semula projek itu dengan China dimuktamadkan.

Semasa lawatan kerja ke ibu pejabat Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu bagi Hal Ehwal Sains, Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (UNESCO) di Paris, Perancis semalam, Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail tersenyum dan tertawa terus terpesona dengan sosok wajah seorang jejaka yang amat-amat dikenalinya.

Jejaka yang dimaksudkan tidak lain tidak bukan tentunya suami tercinta, Anwar Ibrahim yang fotonya terpamer kemas semasa menjadi Presiden persidangan pertubuhan antarabangsa itu dari tahun 1989 hingga 1991.

Ternyata ketokohan dan kredibiliti Anwar mengetuai badan berpengaruh di peringkat antarabangsa perlahan-lahan mula mengalir kepada isterinya sendiri setelah dilantik ke jawatan kedua paling berkuasa di Malaysia itu pada 25 Mei 2018.

melalui radio dan TV Jumaat ini...

Jumaat ini diisytihar hari TUDUNG, azan akan disiarkan melalui radio dan TV New Zealand waktu seruan Jumaat dan rakyat diminta bertafakur dua minit.

Sesi bertafakur selama dua minit (two-minute silence) akan diadakan Jumaat ini di New Zealand sebagai memperingati mangsa yang terkorban dalam tragedi serangan di dua masjid di Christchurch, minggu lalu.

Memetik laporan portal TVNZ, selain itu laungan azan juga akan disiarkan menerusi televisyen dan radio di seluruh negara itu.

Perdana Menteri New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern berkata, ia merupakan tanda sokongan kepada umat Islam di sana untuk kembali ke masjid.

"Saya tahu ada banyak pihak mempunyai hasrat untuk menunjukkan sokongan kepada masyarakat Islam untuk kembali ke masjid, terutama hari Jumaat.

"Bagi menghebahkan kegiatan bertafakur dua minit pada hari Jumaat. Kami juga akan menyiarkan laungan azan ke seluruh negara di TVNZ dan RadioNZ," katanya dalam satu sidang media pada Rabu.

Menurut Ardern, masa untuk sesi bertafakur serta penyiaran azan itu akan ditentukan tidak lama lagi.

Ardern juga mengucapkan terima kasih kepada mereka yang pantas bertindak dalam membantu mangsa pada hari insiden tersebut yang mengorbankan 50 nyawa itu.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said his Singapore counterpart, Tan Chuan Jin, was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”, following a commotion in the House today.

Ariff assured Tan and his delegation that it was not an everyday scene in Malaysia’s Parliament.

“I can assure you, Mr Tan, and the rest of your delegation, that it doesn’t happen daily. You were, as they say, in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“But, it gave you an idea of how the Malaysian Parliament could look like, which could give the speaker a hard time sometimes,” he said in a speech at the Speaker’s Lecture Series: Governance in Singapore – A Parliamentary Perspective, held in the Parliament building.

BN lawmaker Noh Omar has accepted Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof’s decision to uphold his three-day suspension by deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming earlier.

The Tanjong Karang MP had challenged Nga’s ruling issued at the start of today’s proceeding on the grounds that it was made in his absence.

He had entered the Dewan Rakyat shortly before lunch break at 1pm and raised an objection with deputy speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon who was presiding over the session.

Ariff, who presided after the Dewan Rakyat resumed at 2pm, noted Noh’s objection and gave the Umno lawmaker a chance to defend himself against Nga’s ruling.

“I respect the decision made by the current speaker under Standing Order 44.

Noh says ‘no’ to Nga suspending him, ‘yes’ to Ariff showing him the exit.

“But I don’t respect the ruling made by deputy speaker from Telok Intan (Nga) this morning because I was absent,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby after finally accepting his suspension order. - mc
