Ketua Pembangkang Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (gambar) menafikan laporan media mendakwa beliau akan mengambil alih jawatan Menteri Besar Selangor daripada Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Beliau menyifatkan laporan akhbar milik MCA The Star hanyalah satu spekulasi memandangkan ia sudah menjadi cakap-cakap sejak dahulu.

"Ia hanyalah satu lagi spekulasi. Cadangan itu sudah wujud sejak 2008 lagi," katanya kepada wartawan sejurus selepas menghadiri perbicaraan kes saman terhadap blogger Papa Gomo di Mahkamah Tinggi, Jalan Duta hari ini.

 Beliau juga menafikan perjumpaan bersama Abdul Khalid membincangkan isu tentang peralihan jawatan tersebut.

"Memang kita ada perbincangan namun hanya menyentuh mengenai kedudukan Pakatan Rakyat (PR) di Selangor.

"Dan saya memang selalu berjumpa dengan Abdul Khalid bermesyuarat, setiap minggu, atau dalam dua minggu sekali, dan kali terakhir kita berbincang ialah Jumaat," katanya.

Pagi ini The Star melaporkan ura-ura mengenai peletakan jawatan Abdul Khalid yang bakal diumumkan pada Rabu.

Sumber dalaman PKR mengesahkan bahawa ketua pembangkang itu akan menggantikan jawatan Abdul Khalid sebagai menteri besar.

Peralihan kuasa kepada Anwar itu dipercayai antara usaha menangani konflik dalaman di antara Abdul Khalid dan Timbalan Presiden PKR Mohamed Azmin Ali yang sudah lama berlarutan dan semakin meruncing.

Pada masa yang sama, Anwar juga turut mengulas mengenai reaksi Menteri Dalam Negeri Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi mengenai tawaran dialog antara PR dan Barisan Nasional (BN).

Anwar berkata PR menyambut baik tawaran itu memandangkan buat pertama kali pemimpin Umno menyatakan pandangan mengenai mengenai hal tersebut.

"Ia perkara baik kerana pertama kali pemimpin tertinggi Umno menyatakan pandangan dan maklum balas juga amat positif.

"Dan kita akan menghantar Setiausaha Agung kita, (Datuk) Saifuddin Nasution untuk menguruskan perbincangan ini dan untuk terus bercakap dengan beliau," katanya.

Bagaimanapun beliau menafikan perbincangan dialog tersebut juga berkaitan dengan kerajaan perpaduan.

"Tidak ada perkara begitu. Kita hanya membincangkan mengenai isu-isu keutamaan iaitu korupsi dan kenaikan kos sara hidup," katanya.

Sementara itu Saifuddin yang ditemui menafikan terdapatnya pakatan antara PKR dan Umno untuk menubuhkan kerajaan perpaduan.

"Saya dengan pemimpin Umno seperti Zahid memang kawan baik, sejak dahulu. Jadi saya memang berjumpa dengan dia tapi hanya sebagai kawan, rakan lama," katanya. –TMI

Anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) Kajang Lee Chin Cheh(pic.atas) meletakkan jawatan sebagai wakil rakyat hari ini

Perkara itu diumumkan speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Selangor Hannah Yeoh petang ini dan akan dimaklumkan secara rasmi kepada Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) esok.

Yeoh berkata, beliau menerima surat peletakan jawatan pada hari ini.

“Dengan ini, saya mengisytiharkan kerusi DUN N25 Kajang dikosongkan dan SPR seharusnya menjalankan pilihan raya kecil dalam masa 60 hari," kata Yeoh.

Berhubung sebab peletakan jawatan itu, Yeoh berkata perkara itu harus diajukan kepada Lee (kanan) sendiri.

Dalam pilihan raya umum lalu, Lee sebagai calon PKR menang dengan majoriti 6,824 undi dalam pertembungan enam penjuru dengan BN, BERJASA dan tiga calon bebas.

   

Kawasan itu mempunyai 38,965 pengundi dengan 48 peratus Melayu, 41 peratus Cina dan India sebanyak 10 peratus.- malaysiakini

Kajang rep quits for by-election, Anwar or Rafizi slated to stand...

Kajang assemblyman  Lee Chin Cheh has resigned today, setting the stage for a by-election and speculation is mounting that opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim or another PKR leader would contest to become the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Among those believed to be named for the seat include Pandan MP's Rafizi Ramli, a first-term lawmaker and one of the party's brightest political stars.

Selangor State speaker Hannah Yeoh has confirmed Lee's resignation.

She said that Lee personally handed in his resignation letter to her Monday, and that the Election Commission would be informed on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old lawyer, specialising in corporate law and conveyancing, joined PKR in 2008 after being a Gerakan member for 10 years.

The former Petaling Jaya City Councillor replaced the popular Lee Kim Sin in the last election.

In the last election Lee polled 19,571 votes, while his rival Lee Ban Seng of Barisan Nasional polled 12,747.- TMI

Anwar as the Selangor MB...

Plans are afoot within PKR to make the party’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as the new Selangor Menteri Besar to replace the embattled Khalid Ibrahim.

This move is expected to solve the power struggle between Khalid and his nemesis Azmin Ali, who is the state PKR chief.

Popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, in his latest posting in Malaysia-Today, said that negotiations were ongoing to make Anwar the Menteri Besar so that neither Khalid nor Azmin gets the job.

According to Raja Petra, he was informed that DAP and PAS have agreed that Khalid be removed as MB, as the PKR Supreme Council is demanding.

“But they do not want Azmin Ali to replace Khalid,” he added.

He said that under the plan that was being worked out, a PKR state rep would quit his seat to allow Anwar to contest for the seat in a by-election.

“And if Anwar wins the by-election, Anwar would take over as Menteri Besar,” he further said.

“To sack Khalid and replace him with Azmin is no-go. Not to sack Khalid would mean the Selangor crisis would never be solved.

“The only way, therefore, is for Anwar to become the Menteri Besar so that neither Khalid nor Azmin gets the job.

“I was told that negotiations are ongoing even as you read this,” he said.

It is also learned that the DAP hierarchy has agreed to this plan while it is unknown on how PAS would take it. It is also uncertain as to how the Sultan of Selangor will view this development.

In the May 2013 GE, both DAP and PAS won 15 seats each while PKR won 14, following which there were calls from PAS for the party’s candidate to be chosen as the MB.

At the same time, there were also attempts made to make Azmin as the new MB. However Khalid was eventually allowed to retain the MB post in the spirit of Pakatan camaraderie.

In recent weeks, the relationship between Azmin and Khalid deteriorated following the former’s removal from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) board.

Many blamed Khalid for this as his move to strengthen his position for the April party polls. Khalid is expected to challenge Azmin for the deputy president’s post.

The PKNS fiasco resulted in PKR state reps and party leaders in support of Azmin to call upon the party to remove Khalid as the state MB, and replace him with their man Azmin.

Earlier this week, the party officially announced that there were no moves to remove Khalid.

However Raja Petra’s article today suggests that deals are being negotiated behind the scenes to see Anwar, who is also the state economic advisor, assume the top post in the state.-fmt

Khalid is not resigning, MB’s office says again...

Selangor Menteri Besar’s press secretary Arfa’eza Aziz has denied rumours that Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is resigning from his post to make way for PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Arfa’eza said today she was not aware of such a plan and that the menteri besar had not said anything to her.

“We had a long discussion yesterday (Sunday) about the water issue and PKNS but he did not mention anything about resigning,” she told FMT when contacted today.

Arfa’eza said it was quite impossible for Khalid to announce his resignation by Wednesday as reported by an English newspaper’s online portal.

“There are protocols to follow before Khalid can resign from his position. He also needs to get permission from the Selangor palace before making the decision.

“I don’t know where they got the story from and who their source is. Did they talk to Anwar himself or Raja Petra? I don’t know,” she said.

She added that even the senior staff in Khalid’s office did not know of such a plan.

Today, The Star Online reported that Khalid has agreed to step down and will announce the decision on Wednesday.

It quoted party leaders as saying that a by-election will be held for Anwar to be eligible to take over Khalid’s job. Khalid was said to have agreed to the move after meeting Anwar yesterday.

The daily also reported that the move has been endorsed by PKR allies PAS and DAP.

The issue was first raised by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin on Saturday when he said that he was informed by inside sources of the plan to solve the power struggle between Khalid and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

Last week, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said there were calls to remove Khalid by three or four party leaders but it was only an opinion, not a proposal or motion. There were also talks last week that Khalid had already tendered his resignation, but this too was denied by the MB’s office.-fmt

Ungku Aziz - Orang Melayu tak kan bersatu...

Penyatuan orang Melayu hanya angan-angan, kata Ungku Aziz...

Tokoh akademik, Prof Diraja Ungku Aziz Ungku Abdul Hamid (gambar) tidak yakin kaum Melayu akan bersatu kerana faktor sejarah dan penjajahan yang dialami sejak berabad lamanya.

Dalam wawancara disiarkan Berita Minggu hari ini, Ungku Aziz berkata kaum Melayu mempunyai ciri sama dengan masyarakat Arab yang juga sukar untuk bersatu.

"Pada saya orang Melayu tidak mungkin bersatu.

 "Orang Melayu seperti orang Arab kerana payah bersatu, tak boleh bercampur. Itu bezanya orang kita dengan orang Jepun," katanya.

Ungku Aziz menegaskan perbezaan yang memisahkan antara orang Jepun dengan bangsa Melayu adalah kerana penduduk negara matahari terbit tersebut berkongsi banyak persamaan, tidak seperti kaum Melayu.

"Mereka (orang Jepun) bersatu dalam satu negara, bangsa dan sejarah yang sama.

"Orang Melayu pula dikacau oleh penjajah Portugis, Belanda dan itu antara faktor yang merosakkan orang Melayu," kata Ungku Aziz merujuk kepada sejarah pembentukan Malaysia yang pernah dijajah oleh beberapa kuasa besar dunia suatu ketika dahulu.

Zaman penjajahan Eropah ke Tanah Melayu bermula pada tahun 1511, apabila Melaka ditakluki oleh Portugis untuk dijadikan tanah jajahan, disusuli pula pengambilalihan Belanda terhadap Melaka pada tahun 1641.

Empayar British kemudian menjejakkan kaki di Semenanjung Melayu pada tahun 1786.

Selain itu, Ungku Aziz juga menyifatkan faktor kepelbagaian etnik dalam kaum Melayu juga dianggap sebagai punca perpecahan.

"Selain itu, orang Melayu ada yang datang dari Jawa dan bercampur-campur.

"Kita suka bergaduh sesama sendiri dan ada saja agenda," katanya.

Ungku Aziz kemudiaan menegaskan penyatuan kaum Melayu adalah suatu angan-angan yang tidak tercapai sehinggalah tahap pemikiran kaum tersebut mula meningkat pandai.

"Pada saya, penyatuan Melayu hanya angan-angan.

"Itu kita mesti terima. Tetapi kalau orang Melayu pandai, dia akan lebih bersatu," katanya.

Ungku Aziz juga menyifatkan orang Melayu sebagai suka mengamalkan sikap dengki dan menjatuhkan sesama sendiri.

Masyarakat Malaysia terdiri daripada pelbagai kaum dan agama, dimana majoriti 50.4% merupakan orang Melayu dan 11% adalah kaum Bumiputera lain.

23.7% penduduk Malaysia berketurunan Cina, manakala 7.1% lagi berketurunan India.

Walaupun kaum Melayu membentuk majoriti penduduk di Malaysia, kumpulan tersebut masih ketinggalan daripada segi ekonomi walaupun pelbagai dasar diperkenalkan untuk meningkatkan ekonomi dan kualiti hidup kaum Melayu.

Pegangan ekuiti korporat masih belum mencapai 30% dan golongan tersebut kini masih dalam tempoh transformasi sejak mencapai kemerdekaan pada tahun 1957.

Perpecahan Melayu kembali hangat diperkatakan selepas kerajaan Barisan Nasional (BN) yang memerintah negara sejak merdeka hilang majoriti dua pertiga dalam dua pilihan raya lalu, pada tahun 2008 dan 2013 lalu.

Undi kaum Melayu dikatakan terpecah kepada tiga, iaitu Umno, PAS dan PKR dalam dua pilihan raya lalu.

Umno selaku parti dominan masyarakat Melayu menyalahkan dan menunding jari kepada dua parti komponen Pakatan Rakyat (PR) iaitu PAS dan PKR sebagai punca undi tersebut pecah.

Bekas presiden Umno paling lama, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad juga menyifatkan PAS dan PKR sebagai parti yang menjadi penyebab kepada berlakunya perpecahan dalam kalangan masyarakat Melayu di negara ini.- TMI

Ungku Aziz Malay unity not possible...

Malay academic Ungku Abdul Aziz Ungku Abdul Hamid (pic) has dismissed frequent calls for Malay unity as a dream, saying that it was something the community must accept.

The royal professor said instead of focusing on the unachievable, Malays should spend their energy on self-improvement.

"To me, Malay unity is but a dream. We must accept that. But if Malays are smart, then they will become more united," he told the Malay-language Berita Minggu, the weekend edition of Umno-linked Berita Harian today.

"Malays are like the Arabs who can’t unite and mix. That’s the difference between Malays and the Japanese.”

Ungku Aziz said the Japanese, unlike the Malays, shared many values, such as a common history.

“Malays were colonised by the Portuguese, Dutch and this had had an effect on them,” he said referring to the country’s colonial past.

He said the Malays were also divided by their own ethnicity with some tracing their origins to Java.

"We also like to fight with each other and always there is some agenda or other.”

Since the ground-breaking 2008 general election which saw Umno support among the Malay community dwindle and the Barisan Nasional lose its two-thirds super majority, there had been constant calls for unity with its rival PAS.

But the calls did not make any headway.

PAS has constantly been quick to reassure its allies in Pakatan Rakyat that it was committed to the pact each time such talk surfaced.

PAS currently holds 21 seats in Parliament, while PKR has 30 and DAP 38. BN holds the remaining seats in the 222-seat Parliament.

A break-up in the opposition coalition would mean a huge win for Umno, as this would allow BN to secure a two-thirds majority in Parliament.

The former University Malaya vice-chancellor also lamented the Malays’ tendency to place a premium on honorifics bestowed by Malay rulers or the federal government.

He said Malays should strive to excel in whatever field they took part in.

"The problem with Malays is that they do not strive to be the best. This is a result of our education system.

"Malays like accepting assistance and titles. Everyone wants titles and positions. When they get a 'Datuk', they want a 'Datuk Seri’," said Ungku Aziz, who is father of Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz. – TMI

Protes 'kandar sayur'...

Orang ramai pelbagai kaum hari ini berkumpul di Sunway Carnival Mall, Pulau Pinang bagi menyatakan bantahan terhadap kenaikan harga barang dan kos sara hidup.

Mereka membawa kain rentang dan melaungkan slogan menentang cukai barangan dan perkhidmatan (GST), menuntut harga penurunan harga barangan keperluan asas serta mengejek kenyataan kangkung perdana menteri.

“Kangkung turun” antara laungan yang kedengaran dalam perhimpunan itu.

Selain kangkung, pelbagai sayur-sayuran turut dikandar ke perhimpunan itu, sekali gus menjadikannya penuh warna warni.

Wakil rakyat pembangkang Lee Khai Loon yang terkenal dengan flash mob kangkungnya sebelum ini turut kelihatan, selain Pengarah Strategi PKR Rafizi Ramzli dan exco Pulau Pinang Dr Afif Bahardin.- malaysiakini

Big turnout at Penang price hike demo...

A multi-racial group of about 1,000 turned up the Penang Turun rally against price hikes today that went without a hitch at the Sunway Carnival Mall.

They carried banners condemning the Goods and Services Tax (GST), with some shouting, "Kangkung turun!" and called for prices of essential goods to "Turun, turun, turun!"

"Hidup, hidup, hidup rakyat", "Turun Rosmah", "Turun, turun, Najib PM" and shouts of PKR's war cry "Reformasi!" were heard as well.

Bundles of the green leafy vegetable, kangkung, were also seen in the hands of protesters during the rally.

The vegetable became iconic after Najib lamented that no one praised the government for the fall in its market price, a comment that turned into a national joke.

Assemblypersons Lee Khai Loon, Ong Chin Wen, Chang Lih Kang, Simon Ooi, with MPs Rafizi Ramli and Sim Tze Tzin were on the way. Several PAS members were noted among the crowd.

State exco member Dr Afif Bahardin arrived at 2.33pm.

The protesters gave a round of applause for Lee - who had been strongly condemned by pro-Najib supporters last week - shouting, "Hidup kangkung!"

At least 50 police personnel stood watch while the rally went on peacefully.

'All races stand together'

Seberang Jaya Municipal Council Zulkifli Saad said the gathering was a show of solidarity between Malays, Chinese and Indians.

"We are not racists, this is a gathering of people.

“Leaders have forgotten their responsibilities. We want to remind the top leaders that they have become too comfortable at the top; they forget the sufferings of the people," he added.

The group, including organiser Jingga 13, had chosen to disregard advice by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to postpone the rally due to incidents of several violent counter-protests over the week.

The organisers urged for calm and no provocation, requesting that the crowd not block the roads.

The rally turned took a comical turn when three protestors carried trays of kangkung, as they danced in front of the crowd.

A man started breaking out into the well-known Indonesia song, ‘Lenggang, lenggang kangkung', breaking out into a verse of his own, "Rosmah tak pakai tudung, Najib balik kampung".

"This is my first album," he quipped, as the crowd laughed.

Deputy Chief Minister I Rashid Hasnon and several DAP members - yet no top leaders - were seen among the crowd, who mostly wore yellow and black colours.

"We will protest until Najib resigns if prices of goods are not reduced or GST implemented, said Rafizi.

The protest crowd has swelled to 1,000 by 3.30pm.

In his speech, Rafizi asked what was the relevance of kangkung and May 13, adding "there is no relation".

"There is also no link between race and price hikes. It is just their way of putting fear in us as they are racists," he claimed.

"If there is one Chinese youth among us who is threatened, 10 Malays among us will be there to protect him," he assured, followed by shouts of support.

"Who can afford expensive things, not us - but children of Rosmah and Umno wanita chief Sharizat Abdul Jalil".

"We condemn the big shots not because of their race but we say they have enriched themselves by benefiting from the suffering of the poor.

"Why is Najib not smart, if he wants to increase cost, why do it in a series? GST is gasak saya bertalu-talu (beat me repeatedly) and gang songkok tinggi (high songkok gang)," he joked.

“Najib will again increase price of petrol. That's why we have to continue to protest.”

He explained why the people must protest, adding if they spoke to Najib or Rosmah, they would not understand.

"They only say, if can't afford, don't eat chicken and if can't pay toll don't use the road but don't they know that all roads in KL has tolls?" he asked.

"Our only reply is: Turun. We warn that we will  continue to protest until May 1. That day Najib must abolish the GST and reduce prices," he stressed.

He also urged state reps to be with the people as they were voted in by the rakyat and must not forget their responsibility of defending the rights of the people.

It's about the economy

Earlier, Former Bersih co-coordinator Toh Kin Woon said: "Subsidies needed for the poor is cut while the rich make money."

Lih Kang, who is the Teja rep, urged the crowd not to fear that May 13 will recur, saying "do not be fooled or trapped by these racist statements when this issue is about the economy of the country".

Afif (left), the Seberang Jaya rep, welcomed everyone to his constituency, saying they were all here to show support for the protest against price hikes, saying "I am not here as Adun or exco but as a citizen".

"The price hike is suffered by not only DAP, PKR or PAS but by Umno members as well. You also cannot get any discount if toll prices rise," he added.

Afif then invited the pro-Najib protestors to say "No to GST and price hikes, and to corrupt and wasteful leaders".

As state PAS leader and Kepala Batas coordinator Roshidi Hussain took the mike, calls of "Allah Hu Akhbar" is heard.

"We have to help highlight the rise in price hike because the promises of the government is just for the general elections, now that it is over, we are left to suffer the price hike," he said, briefly as his supporters shouted "Takbir!".

PAS deputy president and state commissioner Mohamad Sabu sent his regards as he could not join the protest as there was a worker's gathering in Shah Alam which required his presence.

Sim, the Bayan Baru MP, said the people had hopes in Najib, but he asked us to "eat kangkung".

"They threaten us with May 13, are you all afraid? Where's the Chinese, Malay and Indians?" he asked, as the crowd replied "No!", raising their hands.- malaysiakini

MCA menyuarakan kekecewaannya tentang perebutan kuasa yang berlaku antara Menteri Besar Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim dan Timbalan  Presiden PKR, Azmin Ali kerana sepatutnya mereka memberi fokus untuk membangunkan ekonomi negeri itu.

Timbalan presiden MCA, Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong berkata, sejak PKR menjadi parti pemerintah di Selangor, "negeri itu hanya menyaksikan gila kuasa dan percakaran antara Khalid dan Azmin".

"Tidak ada pembangunan ketara selepas Pakatan Rakyat membentuk kerajaan negeri di Selangor lima tahun lepas, kecuali perbalahan peribadi antara Khalid dan Azmin, yang membazirkan masa dan sumber negeri.

"Apa sebenarnya sumbangan mereka kepada negeri itu dan rakyatnya, sedangkan sepatutnya para pemimpin Pakatan memberi tumpuan terhadap usaha memajukan  ekonomi negeri," katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.

Ka Siong berkata, BN berusaha keras untuk mencapai matlamat negara berpendapatan tinggi dan menumpukan banyak usaha ke arah memastikan Model Baharu Ekonomi dan Program Transformasi Ekonomi dapat dilaksanakan dengan jayanya.

"Pakatan hanya mampu mencanangkan tentang rizab mereka yang banyak, tapi gagal menggunakan sumber mereka secara bijak.

Ini hanya mendedahkan  ketidakmampuan mereka dalam membuat perancangan kewangan atau barangkali, mereka hanya memberi tumpuan terhadap kenaikan gaji," katanya sebagai merujuk kepada pengumuman kenaikan gaji anggota Dewan Undangan Negeri Selangor baru-baru ini. - Bernama

Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim seems to be walking on a tightrope, facing revolt among fellow party leaders who want him replaced with nemesis Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman Azmin Ali, who is also the PKR deputy president.

The fight between the two could result in long-term instability to the state leadership, now in the hands of Pakatan Rakyat.

The 14 PKR state assemblymen in Selangor have taken sides and this has caused nighmares for Khalid in running the state smoothly.

Pakatan Rakyat cornered 44 state seats in Selangor at the last general election in May 2013. Fellow components DAP and PAS hold 15 seats each, in the 56-seat Selangor state assembly.

Seri Andalas assemblyman Xavier Jayakumar and Sri Muda assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafie confirmed that Selangor PKR, headed by Azmin, at a meeting on Jan 12, unanimously decided to write a collective letter to the national leadership stating their unhappiness with Khalid over several issues.

Sources told FMT that the letter triggered the PKR supreme council to discuss the review of Khalid’s position in a meeting on Jan 15, in which “two or three” attendees called for Khalid to be removed.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said no concrete decision was made at the meeting and that Khalid was still the Menteri Besar.

The fact that he is facing revolt from Selangor PKR state assemblymen makes it difficult for Khalid to administer the state efficiently as he would be without the support “his own party leaders.”

Shuhaimi said the Selangor PKR meeting had good attendance made up of state supreme council members, branch chiefs and also elected PKR representatives.

He said the attendees reached a consensus to write the letter to air their dissatisfaction towards Khalid on three issues. The grouses are:

1. Khalid’s decision to enter into a joint effort with the federal government to acquire the Selangor water concessionaires and to allow the federal government to construct the Langat II Water Treatment Plant;

2. Hiking licensing fees affecting shops and factory operators; and

3. Removing Azmin from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) board.

“Nobody opposed the issuance of the letter, even if there were, they kept silent. So the motion was passed without much ado,” Suhaimi told FMT today.

While momentum against Khalid seems to be growing by the day, observers feel the menteri besar faced an uphill task in running the state even with the backing from DAP and PAS state assemblymen.

In-fighting and internal sabotage is starting, evident when PKR’s Kuala Langat MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari organised a protest recently to oppose Khalid’s decision to transfer out the PKNS general manager and executive secretary, blaming them for excluding Azmin from the PKNS board..

‘Selangor going Kedah’s way’

Meanwhile, Xavier, when contacted today, said Khalid ought to be removed immediately because the current leadership has not delivered the kind of changes that people wanted following the general election.

“In the past one year, nothing has moved, everything done in Selangor contravenes what the party and Pakatan leadership want.

“All the time we have been fighting fire rather than come out with concrete programmes.

“We don’t want Selangor to go down the path of Kedah,” he said, referring to Pakatan losing the state in the last election.

Abdullah Sani said he was disappointed with Khalid’s decision in issues such as water concession, salary hike for executive councillors and assemblymen and the removal of Azmin.

“He is not setting an example of good governance. He should be removed,” he said.

Selangor exco for welfare and women affairs Rodziah Ismail, however, defended Khalid saying that the second term MB was the one who led Pakatan Rakyat to a bigger victory in the general election.

“No one can deny that because of Khalid that we gained more than two-thirds majority in the state legislative assembly. So the people’s preference should be taken into consideration.

“I admit there are shortcomings, but that can be corrected from time to time,” she added.

Thus the power struggle among top two PKR leaders in Selangor is not about to die down with state assemblymen taking sides to show their loyalty.- fmt

Anwar guna RM3billion, Najib guna RM70 billion...

Tokoh muda PKR,  Rafizi Ramli  mendakwa dedahkan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim  ketika menjadi Menteri Kewangan selama lapan tahun dari 1991 hingga 1998 hanya menggunakan RM3 bilion duit Petronas setiap tahun untuk perbelanjaan kerajaan.

“Datuk Seri Anwar menjadi Menteri Kewangan sebelum dia kena dipecat pada tahun 1998, tiap-tiap tahun Anwar hanya ambil duit Petronas RM3 blion sahaja untuk perbelanjaan kerajaan.

“Tetapi bekas Perdana Menteri Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (dalam tempoh menjadi Perdana Menteri) menggunakan RM237 billion dari duit Petronas (perbelanjaan kerajaan).

“Sepanjang Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak menjadi Perdana Menteri sejak 2009, tiap-tiap tahun kerajaan Barisan Nasional ambil RM70 billion setahun dari duit Petronas (perbelanjaan kerajaan),” jelas Rafizi yang juga ahli parliman Pandan.

Beliau yang juga Pengarah Strategi PKR berkata jika kerajaan kata tidak ada wang itu tidak betul kerana pendapatan negara lebih dari mencukupi.

“Minyak itu hasil rakyat, milik rakyat. Kamu boleh ambil untuk kamu bermewah dengan macam-macam projek kamu buat. Tapi untuk bagi 20sen, 30 sen satu liter (minyak) kepada rakyat, kamu berkira besar.

“Sebab itu kalau dia (kerajaan) kata tak ada wang, itu tidak betul, kerana jumlah wang yang dikutip daripada cukai rakyat cukup tinggi, jumlah wang yang diperah dari Petronas cukup tinggi.

“Soal kewangan pendapatan (negara) tidak cukup itu tidak betul,” katanya di hadapan lebih 500 orang diceramah penerangan mengenai cukai barangan dan perkhidmatan kerajaan anjuran Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Sembilan di Seremban malam tadi.

Bajet 4B

Dalam ceramah yang bertajuk ‘GST mencekik rakyat’ itu, Bekas Pengurus Bank Negara dan Pakar Ekonomi, Dr Rosli Yaakop pula menyifatkan bajet kerajaan umumnya adalah Bajet 4B.

“Saya panggil bajet kerajaan sebagai Bajet 4B sebab boros, bazir, bocor dan berhutang.

“Perbelanjaan lebih kurang RM264 bilion tetapi pendapatan negara sekitar RM224 bilion. Maka defisit setiap tahun ialah RM40 bilion.

“Dah 16 tahun negara alami defisit. Dah 16 tahun belanja lebih dari hasil. Dia (kerajaan) beritahu kita hutang negara ketika ini RM500 bilion.

Itu pun dah besar.

“Yang sebenarnya hutang negara dianggarkan dah mencecah RM600 bilion.

“Yang GLC (syarikat berkaitan kerajaan) pinjam, yang kerajaan tanggung jaminan dia, tak terkira dalam hutang negara.

“Saya jangka pada tahun 2020, hutang negara mungkin akan mencecah RM1 trilion,” kata Dr Rosli.

Dua jabatan digaji tapi fungsi sama

Ahli Parlimen Rasah, Teo Kok Seong (DAP) pula mempertikaikan bagaimana kerajaan boros dengan menggajikan dua jabatan kerajaan untuk membuat kerja yang sama.

“Malam ini kita ada kawan-kawan dari cawangan khas (Polis DiRaja Malaysia). Kalau ada ceramah memang ada cawangan khas. Cawangan khas ini biasalah, kawan baik kita. Tetapi ada satu lagi jabatan yang membuat kerja yang sama iaitu Jasa (Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas).

“Kenapa kerajaan membayar gaji kepada dua jabatan sedangkan dua pasukan ini membuat kerja yang sama, iaitu menyalurkan infomasi tentang aktiviti Pakatan Rakyat kepada kerajaan.

“Di Negeri Sembilan contohnya ada 36 kawasan Dewan Undangan Negeri dan ada 36 pegawai Jasa. Saya lebih rela menaikkan gaji kawan-kawan cawangan  dan polis daripada menggunakan dua jabatan yang membuat kerja yang sama,” ujar Teo.


Turut hadir dan berceramah ialah Pesuruhjaya PAS Negeri Sembilan, Mohd Taufek Abdul Ghani.- fmt

Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has urged Sin Chew Daily to explain the source behind an erroneous report that he had resigned from his position.

Abdul Khalid added that he did not intend to take legal action against the Chinese language daily, but said it should at least have the courtesy of explaining the fiasco.

"At least they (should) have the courtesy to explain to us where they get the news, so in future we will not waste people's time and energy on that.

"They did do an apology in their system, but I think we need a little bit more explanation than that," he told journalists after giving out Mandarin oranges at a market in Bandar Tun Razak this morning.

Sin Chew Daily had on Thursday issued a text message blast claiming that Abdul Khalid had resigned from his position, although they had later apologised for the report.

'Unscrupulous people taking advantage'

Abdul Khalid said that on the day that the rumour had been circulated, he and the entire exco and top state government leadership were having a meeting at Carey Island, Selangor.
      
"Fortunately or unfortunately, that area did not have wifi or network access because we designed it (the meeting) in such a way that we don't want to be disturbed as we were doing all our planning for 2014.

"So I think there were some unscrupulous people who wanted to (take advantage of the situation)," he said.

However, Abdul Khalid noted that he has no knowledge of who was behind the rumour.

Abdul Khalid added that PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution (left) had already denied allegations that the former will resign as menteri besar, and that should put matters to rest.

"In any organisation, there is only one spokesperson. If there are many spokespersons, then the situation becomes chaotic and inaccurate news like this will come out.
      
"I have been tasked to manage Selangor the best I can and that is what I will do," he said.- malaysiakini

PAS memberi jaminan tidak akan bergabung dengan Barisan Nasional (BN) bagi membentuk ‘government of national reconciliation’ kerana merasakan strategi bersama Pakatan Rakyat (PR) adalah paling berkesan.

Naib Presiden PAS, Salahuddin Ayub, berkata parti Islam itu tidak pernah teruja untuk ‘duduk sebumbung’ dengan BN kerana menyifatkan gagasan yang diterajui Datuk Seri Najib Razak itu penuh ‘racun berbisa’ walupun ‘manis’ dipandang.

Beliau berkata, rakyat Malaysia yang menyokong penuh PR juga tidak perlu bimbang kerana PAS tidak akan mudah termakan dengan agenda atau tawaran Umno.

“Saya juga rasa tidak perlu bagi PAS, DAP dan PKR menamatkan kerjasama dalam PR yang begitu erat kerana ini masa terbaik untuk kita membina kerjasama supaya lebih kuat.

“PAS tidak pernah sesekali bercadang membentuk kerjasama dengan BN atau mengeruhkan keadaan dengan keluar daripada jalinan ikatan kukuh sedia ada.

“Namun, dalam soal membabitkan kepentingan negara seperti kebajikan atau pendidikan, kita bersedia menghulurkan tangan,” katanya dalam satu wawancara khas bersama portal Roketkini, baru-baru ini.

Sementara itu, ketika mengulas strategi khusus PR bagi menghadapi Pilihan Raya Umum ke-14 (PRU-14) nanti, Salahuddin berkata, sebuah jawatankuasa khas sudah dibentuk sebagai asas untuk memperkukuh kekuatan sedia ada.

Katanya, jawatankuasa itu bertujuan memberi fokus dan menggarap sokongan masyarakat Melayu luar bandar yang masih lagi rendah peratusannya menyokong PR.

“Ini penting untuk dijadikan asas bagaimana harus kita bangunkan strategi atau idea baru dalam menghadapi PRU akan datang.


“Kita ingin memperkukuh, memperkemas dan menyelamatkan kekuatan sedia ada, di samping mencari langkah supaya dapat melangkaui ‘grey area’ dan ‘black area’,” katanya.-selangorku

Najib has to change or he could be removed...

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak needs to change  his ways and start doing the right things to ease the burden of the people, otherwise BN will risk losing the next general election, blogger Abdul Kadir Jasin said in his latest blogpost.

Kadir, who is now editor-in-chief of magazine publishing company Berita Publishing Sdn Bhd, listed out three scenarios for the future leadership of Najib, and said if he does not change, he risks being removed from his position, or BN risks losing the next general election if Najib continues with his ways.
                              
"One is for the PM to change and do the right thing to ease the hardship of the people. Two, for him to be removed if he does not change and three, he remains, nothing changes and the BN faces the risk of being thrown out at the next GE," Kadir wrote in his blog.

He also said that Najib should listen more to the "crying pain" of the people rather than listening to "market driven advisers", who Kadir said were "spooking" the PM with market rating downgrades.

51,000 uemployed bumiputera graduates

He said the government has done subsidy reductions in the past and the people have understood, but Kadir criticised the lumping together of all hikes at the end of 2013 and the beginning of this year when the rakyat needed money for their children’s schooling as “insensitive”.

He added that since Najib became prime minister, there has been a 30 percent jump in unemployed bumiputera graduates, which now stands at 51,000.

"So, should we not be worried?" he asked.

He said he was "disgusted" by the fact that almost half of the cabinet members were abroad during year end, at a time when floods were displacing thousands of Malaysians from their homes.

"I was told that those ministers who stayed back had to become caretakers to multiple portfolios. One had to be answerable to more than 10 ministries at a time. No wonder the Prime Minister's Office was so secretive about the PM's whereabouts," he said.

"Can they please not do this ever again? Or they just don't care," Kadir added.- malaysiakini
