Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) menyoal siasat pengarah strategi PKR Rafizi Ramli malam ini susulan pendedahannya berhubung dakwaan campur tangan perdana menteri dalam projek sambungan LRT Ampang bernilai RM1 bilion.

Menurut peguamnya N Surendran, empat pegawai suruhanjaya itu mengambil keterangan Rafizi selama 15 minit di ibu pejabat PKR di Tropicana kira-kira jam 8 malam.

Peguam itu berkata, siasatan berkenaan bertujuan memastikan satu laporan Malaysiakini yang mengutip kenyataan Rafizi di sidang medianya pagi ini.

Rafizi mendakwa Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak mengutamakan sebuah syarikat yang membida dengan harga lebih tinggi.

Rafizi dalam pendedahannya mendakwa, pada mulanya Kementerian Kewangan menganugerahkan kontrak itu kepada Konsortium Balfour Beatty-Invensys, berdasarkan keputusan mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Perolehan Menteri Kewangan (JPMK).

Sedangkan, dakwa Rafizi, Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak minggu lepas melahirkan hasrat menganugerahkannya kepada Konsortium George Kent, seperti dilaporkan media.

 MACC quizzes Rafizi over LRT tender award...

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has quizzed PKR strategic director Rafizi Ramli over his graft allegations on the RM1 billion Ampang Line LRT extension project.

According to his lawyer N Surendran, four MACC officers questioned Rafizi for about 15 minutes at the PKR headquarters this evening. 

Surendran said that the main purpose of the visit was to ascertain the veracity of a Malaysiakini report on a press conference held by Rafizi this morning, where he accused Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak interfering in the bidding process for the lucrative project.

Contacted later, Rafizi said he felt relieved with the unprecedented display of urgency by the MACC on this topic. 

“This means we are hitting the right notes. It is highly unlikely that they will act with this much urgency, unless we has rattled those in power.

“Finally, we are heard. I think MACC realise that if left to us, we would continue with the exposé. I think the public has enough confidence in our work,” said Rafizi, who despite exposing several scandals have never been quizzed by the MACC until today.

Order came from MACC chief

Rafizi was contacted by the MACC at 5pm, just four hours after the press conference, and requested that he be immediately present at the commission’s headquarters at Putrajaya.

However, Rafizi said he was willing to be questioned tonight at the PKR headquarters, where he will be attending a meeting.

Surendran (left) said the visit by the MACC officers appeared to be informal, as they only wanted to verify the veracity of the article and asked if Rafizi had documents to back his claim.

“They ask if we have documents. We told them to conduct proper investigations first and then we will provide the necessary.

“They didn't go beyond that. They just needed to ask these preliminary question,” said Surendran, who is also PKR vice president.

He said the four officers had also revealed that they were acting on orders by MACC chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.

For now, Rafizi expects to be picked up any time soon for further questioning as this is allowed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

“This is a departure from all the previous exposés. This is the first time I’m being called. It is going to be interesting,” said Rafizi, who is best remembered for his string of exposés on the National Feedlot Corporation scandal.

Will Rafizi be muzzled?

Asked if the investigations would hamper his scheduled efforts to reveal more about the alleged scandal, Rafizi said PKR will go ahead with its plans, but with caution.

“We have to navigate between questioning and our own pursuit of the case. I hope the MACC will not use the law and this investigation to muzzle me.

“It is too big a case not to be taken to the public gallery,” he said, stressing that

Rafizi said that it is highly unlikely that the MACC was unaware of his allegations, which are being heavily discussed by industry players close to the project.

Earlier today, Rafizi had told a press conference that the project had been awarded to Balfour Beatty-Invensys Consortium (Balfour).

However, he claimed that interference by Najib had led to the project being awarded to a consortium led by George Kent Bhd, which allegedly bid a higher price.

Rafizi also released the minutes of a Finance Ministry's Procurement Committee (JPMK) meeting dated Jan 25, which he said backed his claim.

 PKR hari ini mendedahkan salinan dokumen rasmi kerajaan berhubung penganugerahan kontrak mengenai projek kerja-kerja sambungan LRT Ampang yang bernilai lebih RM1 bilion.

Pengarah Strategik PKR Rafizi Ramli mendakwa, pada mulanya Kementerian Kewangan menganugerahkan kontrak tersebut kepada Konsortium Balfour Beatty-Invensys, berdasarkan keputusan mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Perolehan Menteri Kewangan (JPMK).

Sedangkan, dakwa Rafizi, Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak minggu lepas melahirkan hasrat menganugerahkannya kepada Konsortium George Kent, seperti dilaporkan media.

"Ini bertentangan dengan keputusan JPMK yang bersidang pada 25 Januari 2012. JPMK adalah jawatankuasa tertinggi Kementerian Kewangan dan dipengerusikan sendiri oleh Datuk Seri Najib sebagai menteri kewangan.

"Keputusan mesyuarat JPMK dengan rujukan T/1/M/1/2012 dengan secara jelas menolak cadangan Prasarana Negara untuk melantik PDA Consortium sebagai kontraktor projek ini.

"Sebaliknya JPMK mengarahkan supaya pakej kontrak itu dianugerahkan kepada Korsortium Balfour Beatty-Invesys pada harga RM1,012,910,000," kata Rafizi.

Rafizi berkata keputusan itu ditandatangani Najib, Menteri Kewangan Kedua Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah dan Ketua Setiausaha Perbandaharaan Tan Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah.

Rafizi juga turut mengedarkan minit mesyuarat tersebut kepada media.

Bawa pada polis, SPRM pada 29 Jun

Sehubungan itu, Rafizi mempersoalkan Najib, faktor apa yang menyebabkannya mengubah fikiran sehingga didakwa campur tangan untuk "menolak keputusan" awal yang dipersetujuinya sendiri.

"Kenapa Konsortium George Kent begitu yakin akan memenangi kontrak ini seperti yang dilaporkan oleh media kebelakangan ini, walaupun keputusan anugerah kontrak telah dibuat seawal 25 Januari 2012?" soal Rafizi.

Turut hadir dalam sidang itu Setiausaha Agung PKR Datuk Saifuddin Nasution.

Rafizi berkata keputusan JPMK itu juga disampaikan secara bertulis oleh Kementerian Kewangan kepada Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan Prasaran Datuk Shahril Mokhtar pada 26 Januari - sehari selepas keputusan JPMK dibuat.

Rafizi turut mendesak Najib supaya meyakinkan rakyat Malaysia bahawa dakwaan campur tangan dalam anugerah projek itu "langsung tidak ada unsur rasuah atau penyelewengan".

"Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak perlu menafikan bahawa beliau menandatangani kertas keputusan JPMK jika dokumen yang saya tunjukkan hari ini adalah palsu," katanya sambil yang menunggu maklum balas perdana menteri.

Sementara itu, Rafizi turut memaklumkan, pihaknya akan membuat laporan polis dan Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) pada 29 Jun berhubung pendedahan hari ini.

Najib interfered in LRT RM 1 billion tender award...

PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli today released government documents in his bid to prove that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak interfered in the award of the RM1 billion Ampang Line LRT extension project.

In this first episode of his expose against Najib, Rafizi said the project had initially been awarded to Balfour Beatty-Invensys Consortium (Balfour).

However, he went on to accuse Najib of interfering in the matter, so that a consortium led by George Kent Bhd, which allegedly bid a higher price than other bidders, is to get the job.

At a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Rafizi released a purported copy of the minutes of a Jan 25 meeting of the Finance Ministry's Procurement Committee (JPMK) to prove his point.

The minutes were signed by Najib, who is also finance minister, Second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah and Finance Ministry secretary-general Wan Abd Aziz Wan Abdullah.

The minutes state the committee's decision to reject the proposal of Prasarana, the government-linked company overseeing the LRT extension projects, to award the RM1,012,910,000 contract to PDA Consortium.

Instead, the committee selected Balfour to be the contractor and supplier, the minutes state.

This decision was conveyed to Prasarana in a letter dated Jan 26, written by Fauziah Yaacob, an officer with the Finance Ministry's procurement division, said Rafizi, who also furnished a copy of this letter.

Rafizi then made the conclusion that it was Najib's interference that overturned the JPMK decision and landed the extension project in the hands of George Kent.

He said he would release more documents in the coming days and next week to back his allegation.

Although the awarding of the tender has yet to be officially announced, Rafizi cited a report published in Business Times on Jan 22 that said George Kent is tipped to win the bid and that an official announcement would be made soon.

According to the official documents, the tender outlines two items. One is for a system contractor for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of system works for the Ampang (AMG) line extension project, which is worth RM949,162,000.

The other is a contract for the supply of Train Borne Equipment for Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) and for a LRV modification contract worth RM63,748,000.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution, who was also present at the press conference, pointed out that the Business Times report, which says the contract is worth only RM960 million, was misleading and an attempt to state that George Kent won the bid at a lower price.

Four areas for Najib to answer

Instead, George Kent's bidding price was one of the highest among all bidders, Saifuddin said, adding that he was in possession of all the bidding documents and that these details would be disclosed soon.

Rafizi then called on Najib to respond to four issues:

1. Why was George Kent so confident in winning the contract, as reported by the media recently, even though the award of the contract had been decided on Jan 25?

2. Najib must deny that he had signed the JPMK decision paper if the document I showed today is false.

3. Najib must explain the reason for changing his mind to the extent of interfering to reject the earlier decision on the tender award that he had jointly agreed to.

4. Najib must convince Malaysians that his interference in the awarding of the tender for the project has completely no element of corruption or abuse.

PKR will also lodge a police report against Najib on Friday, Rafizi added.

According to Business Times, the George Kent consortium includes China Railway Construction Corp and Tewet GmbH, a project management consultancy.

George Kent was established in 1936 and is a leader in mechanical and electrical engineering. For the fiscal year 2011, George Kent posted a pre-tax profit of RM26.2 million on a revenue of RM152.3 million.

Tenders for the systems contract for the Ampang LRT line extension closed on June 16, 2011, and eight consortiums had made the bids.- malaysiakini

Hang Ambiga, says UMNO MP for Sri Gading...

An Umno lawmaker called tonight for Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan to be hanged for the “treasonous” act of organising the April 28 Bersih rally for free and fair elections, which the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) has claimed was an attempt to topple the Najib administration.
 
Sri Gading MP Datuk Mohamad Aziz(left) compared the Bersih chief to leaders of the Al-Ma’unah militants who tried to overthrow the government in 2000 and were eventually sentenced to death by hanging for “waging war against the King,” the first people to be convicted of the offence.

“Shouldn’t we also hang Ambiga (picture) for treason towards the Agong? Traitors should be punished as harshly as possible,” the four-term federal lawmaker told Parliament when debating the supplementary supply bill.

The Tabung Haji director, who has previously accused opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of planning bloodshed and death at the rally, added that he was “willing to spill my blood for this country” to roars of approval from his fellow backbenchers.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has also accused Bersih of an attempted coup and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has said there were elements in the rally who wanted to instigate death and bloodshed.

The government has set up a panel to investigate the April 28 violence, but the choice of former police chief Tun Hanif Omar, as panel head, has been widely criticised after he compared the movement to communism and accused the organisers of trying to overthrow the government.

The April 28 rally that saw tens of thousands gather at six different locations before heading to Dataran Merdeka was peaceful until about 2.30pm when Ambiga asked the crowd to disperse.

But her announcement was not heard by most of the crowd who persisted to linger around the historic square which the court had already barred to the public over the weekend.

Just before 3pm, some protestors breached the barricade surrounding the landmark, leading police to disperse the crowd with tear gas and water cannons.

Police then continued to pursue rally-goers down several streets amid chaotic scenes which saw violence from both sides over the next four hours.

Several dozen demonstrators have claimed that they were assaulted by groups of over 10 policemen at a time and visual evidence appears to back their claim but police also point to violence from rally-goers who attacked a police car.

The Al-Ma’unah group had audaciously stolen weapons from an army camp in July 2000 before finally being cornered and forced to surrender in Sauk, Perak.

Mohamed Amin Mohamed Razali, who led the band of 29 men, was hanged six years later, followed by three other leaders of the terrorist group.

Prior to an earlier Bersih rally held on July 9 last year, a group of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) activists were also arrested on suspicion of planning to wage war on the King.

Hakim tanya mengapa k'jaan 'layan' permintaan BERSIH

Seorang peguam kanan persekutuan 'dihujani soalan' dari Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi hari ini apabila beliau tidak dapat menyatakan dengan jelas pendirian kerajaan terhadap Gabungan Pilihanraya Bersih dan Adil (BERSIH).

Hakim Mahkamah Bahagian Rayuan dan Kuasa-Kuasa Khas, Datuk
Rohana Yusof kelihatan keliru dengan perintah Menteri Dalam Negeri mengisytiharkan BERSIH sebagai pertubuhan haram pada 1 Julai 2011, tetapi membenarkan perhimpunan duduk bantah BERSIH 3.0 pada 28 April tahun ini.

Rohana bertanya mengapa kerajaan "melayan" permintaan BERSIH untuk menganjurkan perhimpunan tersebut.

Jawapan yang diberikan oleh Peguam Persekutuan Azizan Md Arshad adalah kerajaan membenarkan BERSIH 3.0 kerana Akta Perhimpunan Aman telah dikuatkuasakan.
 
Katanya, pengharaman BERSIH tidak ditarik balik dan skop arahan yang dikeluarkan tahun lalu itu termasuk BERSIH 2.0, BERSIH 3.0 dan semua aktivitinya.

Hakim Rohana yang kelihatan tidak puashati dengan jawapan tersebut, bertanya jika menteri dalam negeri mengharamkan BERSIH dan semua aktivitinya, bagaimana pula menteri mengiktiraf perhimpunan BERSIH 3.0 di bawah undang-undang lain.

Beliau seterusnya memetik Parti Komunis Malaya (PKM) sebagai contoh dan bertanya sama ada pertubuhan yang diharamkan itu boleh memohon untuk mengadakan perhimpunan di bawah akta yang sama.

"Bolehkah (setiausaha agung PKM) Chin Peng memohon untuk mengadakan perhimpunan atas kapasiti peribadinya?" soal Tommy Thomas, peguam utama yang mewakili Pengerusi Bersama BERSIH, Datuk S Ambiga dan 14 yang lain.

Tommy (kiri), dalam hujahnya mendakwa BERSIH adalah sebuah pertubuhan yang tidak diperbadankan yang mana diiktiraf oleh Common Law, dan tidak terletak di bawah bidang kuasa Akta Pertubuhan.

"Oleh itu, apabila menteri yang digunakan Seksyen 5 Akta Pertubuhan Akta untuk mengisytiharkan BERSIH 2.0 sebagai pertubuhan haram, ini adalah ultra vires," katanya.

Tommy juga berkata BERSIH telah dinafikan hak untuk didengar  sebelum perintah itu dikeluarkan, dan ini bertentangan dengan keadilan asasi.

Azizan menyangkal bahawa Akta Pertubuhan tidak menyatakan hak untuk didengar apabila menteri membuat keputusan.

Beliau juga berkata orang yang tepat untuk membuat keputusan mengenai isu-isu berkaitan keselamatan negara dan ketenteraman awam adalah Menteri Dalam Negeri, dan mahkamah tidak boleh mempersoalkan keputusan itu.- malaysiakini

The 133 official documents uploaded onto this website are from the Directorate-General of the French National Police and the Judicial Police Directorate’s anti-organized and financial crimes unit.

They were presented to a French anti-corruption court in May and June of 2011. Taken together, they present –in French – the clearest picture to date of the two-decade campaign by the French state-owned defense manufacturer DCN and its subsidiaries to sell Scorpene submarines to the Malaysian Ministry of Defense.

Asia Sentinel’s story summarizing what is in the documents is in a collection in Asia Sentinel's Scribd account. They tell a story of corruption on both sides of the world that included – according to one presentation to the court – “blackmail, bribery, influence peddling, misuse of corporate assets and concealment.”

The documents show that many of these activities were carried out with the full knowledge if not connivance of top officials in both the French and Malaysian governments. View the documents here.

There is considerable doubt in Malaysia that these documents actually exist, and that the story of corruption was fabricated by the opposition Pakatan Rakyat coalition. Here is proof that they exist indeed. Readers who speak French may examine them at their leisure.

The documents were sent anonymously to Asia Sentinel because of our persistence in cataloguing the story of the submarines since October 2006, when Altantuya Shaariibuu, a 28-year-old Mongolian party girl and translator of sorts, was murdered in a patch of jungle near the suburban city of Shah Alam and her body was blown to bits with C4 explosives.

It subsequently became apparent that Altantuya had accompanied Abdul Razak Baginda, the head of Malaysian Strategic Services and a close associate of then-Defense Minister Najib Tun Razak, to Paris and Brest during final negotiations for the contract to train Malaysian sailors and to maintain the submarines once they arrived in Malaysia.

Although the documents indicate French authorities found no record that Altantuya had ever entered France, Asia Sentinel ran a series of pictures of her in Pars in front of the Louis Vuitton Paris shop, the Arc de Triomphe, the Cathedral of Notre Dame and other locations. RM100k to kill Altantuya

Two of Najib’s bodyguards – one of whom said in a formal statement that they were to be paid RM100,000 to kill the woman – were convicted of murder, but the courts carefully stayed away from identifying who had ordered her death.

The case eventually spread to France, where lawyers led by William Bourdon were engaged by the Malaysian NGO Suaram to attempt to get to the bottom of the case. Their efforts led French anti- corruption police to raid the offices of DCN and its subsidiaries.

Thousands of documents were seized, along with computers and vast stores of documents and files. For the better part of two months, prosecutors detailed the evidence in a French courtroom.

Zahid Hamidi says dont know about alleged sales of state secrets...

Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today told Parliament that his ministry does not know about allegations that state secrets had been sold to foreign countries.

"As far as the ministry is knows, to date, no information being leaked out of Malaysia has been detected," he said in his adjournment speech to Parliament about ten minutes before midnight.

He added that the ministry has "no information" about claims that Terasasi Hong Kong Ltd had sold Malaysian secret documents to Thint Asia, also known as Thales International, which is a subsidiary of DCNS, one the companies responsible for the sale of two Scorpene submarines to Malaysia.

"The ministry also does not have any information about claims that Terasasi received periodical payments from Thint Asia," he said in his five minute speech in response to Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar (right). 

Responding to queries by Nurul Izzah whether Malaysia would request to be an observer to the French tribunal on the Scorpene case to gain access to its investigation papers, Ahmad Zahid said this did not arise as there is no ongoing trial of the matter in France.

The French court - which adopts an inquisitive system - is currently at its investigation stage into alleged corruption by DCNS and has yet to proceed to trial.

'No need for RCI'
 
He added there was no necessity for the setting up of a royal commission of inquiry to scrutinise the 1.341 billion euro submarine purchase as it adhered to the Defence Procurement Procedure and Manual.

"It involved various stages of approval including at the technical committee and price negotiation committee after detailed evaluation was made to ensure it suited the needs of the Malaysian Armed Forces," he said.

Further to this, the Attorney-General's Chambers had also approved the contracts related to the purchase and all its terms and conditions were presented to the Finance Ministry for approval, said Ahmad Zahid (left).

He added that a parliamentary standing committee for defence procurement is also not required, because such procurements are laid out in the country's budget, which is debated and passed by Parliament.

"Every expenditure is also subjected to the scrutiny and reprimand of Auditor-General's Office.

"The government also views that the process of procurement which involves strategic defence equipment, should not be discussed openly," he said.

Ahmad Zahid's comments last night was the first official response given to Parliament close to a month after the alleged sales of Malaysian defence secrets was revealed by human rights group Suaram in Bangkok.

Terasasi is alleged to have received 36 million euro (RM142 million) from DCNS for among others, the ‘sale' of a highly confidential report comprising the Malaysian Navy's evaluation for the order of the submarines.- malaysiakini

Zahid Hamidi kata gomen tak tahu tentang dakwaan jualan dokumen sulit pertahanan...

Menteri Pertahanan Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi berkata kerajaan tiada maklumat mengenai dakwaan berhubung penjualan dokumen pertahanan negara kepada negara asing.

"Sepanjang pengetahuna kementerian sehingga kini tidak ada maklumat keluar dari Malaysia," katanya lagi dalam ucapan penangguhannya di Dewan Rakyat lewat malam tadi.

Tambahnya, kementerian itu juga tidak pernah membayar komisyen secara langsung, mahupun tidak langsung kepada mana-mana syarikat dalam perolehan kapal selam Scorpene

"Perolehan kapal selam dibuat secara runding terus selaras dengan tatacara perolehan kerajaan dengan syarikat pembuat iaitu syarikat Perancis dan Sepanyol yang telah mendapat persetujuan kerajaan masing-masing," katanya lagi.

Tambahnya, kementerian itu juga tiada sebarang maklumat mengenai dakwaan penjualan dokumen oleh syarikat Terasasi (Hong Kong) kepada syarikat Thint Asia (Thales International), didakwa bernilai 36 juta Euro.

"Kementerian juga tidak mempunyai maklumat dakwaan bayaran secara berkala daripada Thint Asia kepada syarikat Terasasi (Hong Kong)," katanya.

Tiada perbicaraan berlangsung di Perancis

Perkara tersebut ditimbulkan terdahulu oleh Nurul Izzah Anwar (PKR-Lembah Pantai) ketika mengemukakan usul penangguhan mesyuarat di akhir persidangan.

Dalam ucapan tersebut, Nurul Izzah antara lainnya bertanya menteri sekiranya Malaysia akan memohon untuk menjadi pemerhati di Mahkamah Tribunal Perancis untuk mendapat akses kepada siasatan berhubung kes tersebut.

Ahmad Zahid bagaimanapun berkata keperluan itu tidak timbul.

"Kerajaan Malaysia difahamkan tidak ada perbicaraan berlangsung di Perancis berhubung isu kapal selam Scorpene, justeru tidak timbul soal kerajaan akan mohon jadi pemerhati," katanya.

Mengulas satu lagi soalan Nurul Izzah berhubung cadangan penubuhan suruhanjaya diraja untuk menyiasat pembelian kapal selam tersebut, Ahmad Zahid juga berkata langkah itu tidak perlu.

"Pembelian kelengkapan angkatan tentera dibuat ikut tatacara pelaksanaan kontrak perolehan peralatan pertahan negara.

"Ia melibatkan pelbagai pertingkat kelulusan termasuk jawatankuasa teknikal dan jawatankuasa rundingan harga setelah penilaian teliti dibuat demi memastikan perolehan tersebut menepati keperluan ATM (Angkatan Tentera Malaysia).

"Selain itu rujukan juga dibuat kepada Jabatan Peguam Negara bagi mendapatkan kelulusan ke atas klausa kontrak tersebut," katanya.

Menjawab satu lagi soalan Nurul Izzah, menteri berkata kerajaan juga berpandangan bahawa sistem jawatankuasa tetap parlimen untuk pertahanan tidak perlu diwujudkan.

Photos show that Altantuya was in France...

While French police investigations have revealed that Altantuya Shaariibuu never entered France from 1999 to 2006, there are photographs of her taken in Paris published several years ago, that indicate otherwise.

A report on the French police investigations was carried by online news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) in an article headlined 'French probe: Altantuya never entered France'.

The report published yesterday was based on confidential investigative documents submitted to the French judicial inquiry that is looking into alleged kickbacks paid out in the 2002 Scorpene submarine deal between French firm DCNS and the Malaysian government.

However, in 2007, a series of photographs made available to Asia Sentinel by Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Habshi, the former honourary Mongolian consul-general in Malaysia, showed Altantuya "on the trip of her life to Europe".

According to the Hong Kong-based news portal, Syed Abdul Rahman had then declined to say where the pictures came from.


 
They are believed to have been found among Altantuya's possessions after she was killed, according to Asia Sentinel in an article headlined 'Who was Altantuya Shaariibuu?', written by John Berthelsen on Dec 5 of that year.

"If you go to the Asia Sentinel site, you will see pictures of her standing in front of a Louis Vuitton store, the Buddha Bar, Notre Dame Cathedral and a whole flock of other locations in Paris," Berthelsen told Malaysiakini.

Berthelsen, a former Asian Wall Street Journal correspondent in Malaysia, also said Altantuya's family had declined to elaborate on the photographs.

However, in April this year, Altantuya's father Setev Shaariibuu told a press conference hosted by Suaram in Kuala Lumpur that his daughter's visa to France was issued in Kuala Lumpur under the name "Amina Abdullah" and that she was supposed to enter Paris after flying to Germany.

Red flag on alleged Altantuya-Najib photo

The FMT report says the latest revelation from the French police investigation raises a red flag on the existence of a photograph of the Mongolian woman, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his close ally, Abdul Razak Baginda in Paris, allegedly taken between 2004 and 2006.

The alleged photograph was made known at the murder trial of Altantuya during the testimony of her cousin Burmaa Oyunchimeg, who had accompanied the Altantuya to Kuala Lumpur to purportedly extort money from Abdul Razak.

The photograph was not among Altantuya's possessions after her body - blown into bits with C4 military explosives - was found in a jungle clearing in Shah Alam in October 2006.

Two police officers who were once bodyguards to Najib have been convicted of Altantuya's murder and sentenced to death. They are now awaiting their appeal.

Abdul Razak (left) was also charged with abetment in Altantuya's murder, but he was acquitted without being called to make his defence.

FMT reported that the French police investigation papers revealed that Najib - who was defence minister at that time - and Razak were on an official visit to Paris from June 16 to 18 in 2000.

Najib also visited France in July 2001, July 2003, June 2005 and October 2007 but it is possible that Najib and his entourage could have entered France through diplomatic channels, the FMT report said.

Officials of state-owned defence giant DCNS have also informed the French police that they never met a person named Altantuya and did not know who she was during the course of their negotiations for the Scorpene deal, the report said.

The confidential documents also raise questions about Altantuya's role as a translator for the deal since the DCNS officials had also informed the French police that negotiations for the submarines were done in Malaysia, not in France.

"One official - DCNS former sales manager in Malaysia, Fredric Faura - told the French investigators that the negotiations were conducted in English, not in French, so there is no need for an interpreter," FMT added in its report.

Siasatan polis mendapati penterjemah Mongolia tidak pernah memasuki Perancis 1999-2006, tetapi gambar yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2007 menunjukkan bukti sebaliknya, kata satu laporan.

Manakala penyiasatan polis Perancis telah mendedahkan bahawa Altantuya Shaariibuu, tidak pernah memasuki Perancis 1999-2006, terdapat gambar-gambar yang diambil di Paris yang disiarkan beberapa tahun lepas, yang menyatakan sebaliknya.

Satu laporan mengenai penyiasatan polis Perancis telah dibawa oleh portal berita dalam talian Free Malaysia Today (FMT) dalam artikel yang bertajuk 'Prench probe: Altantuya never entered France'.

Laporan yang diterbitkan hari ini adalah berdasarkan dokumen sulit penyiasatan yang dikemukakan kepada siasatan kehakiman Perancis itu yang sedang mencari dakwaan rasuah yang dibayar di dalam perjanjian kapal selam Scorpene pada 5 Jun 2002 antara firma pertahanan Perancis DCNS dan kerajaan Malaysia.

Walau bagaimanapun, pada tahun 2007, satu siri gambar yang disediakan untuk Asia Sentinel oleh Syed Abdul Rahman Al-Habshi, bekas konsul kehormat Mongolia di Malaysia, memberitahu bahawa buat Altantuya, "ini adalah perjalanan untuk hidupnya ke Eropah".

Menurut portal berita Hong Kong, Syed Abdul Rahman telah enggan menyatakan dari mana sumber gambar tersebut muncul.

Walau bagaimanapun, pada bulan April tahun ini, bapa Altantuya, Setev Shaariibuu memberitahu satu sidang akhbar yang dihoskan oleh Suaram di Kuala Lumpur bahawa visa anak perempuannya ke Perancis telah dikeluarkan di Kuala Lumpur di bawah nama itu "Amina Abdullah" dan bahawa dia telah sepatutnya untuk memasuki Paris selepas terbang ke Jerman.

Laporan FMT berkata bukti terbaru dari penyiasatan polis Perancis menimbulkan amaran pada kewujudan gambar wanita Mongolia itu, Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Altantuya dan sekutu rapat beliau, Abdul Razak Baginda di Paris, yang didakwa diambil di antara 2004 dan 2006.

Gambar yang dikatakan telah dikenali pasti pada perbicaraan pembunuhan Altantuya semasa kenyataan saksi yang juga sepupunya Burmaa Oyunchimeg, yang telah menemani Altantuya ke Kuala Lumpur untuk memeras wang komisen yang dijanjikan daripada Abdul Razak.

Gambar tersebut adalah bukan antara harta benda Altantuya selepas tubuhnya - dibungkus ke dalam bit beserta bahan letupan tentera gred C4 - dijumpai dalam satu kawasan pembersihan hutan di Shah Alam pada Oktober 2006.

Dua pegawai polis yang pernah menjadi pengawal peribadi Najib Altantuya telah disabitkan dengan pembunuhan Altantuya dan dihukum mati.

Mereka kini menunggu rayuan mereka.

Abdul Razak juga didakwa bersubahat dalam pembunuhan Altantuya, tetapi beliau telah dibebaskan tanpa dipanggil membela diri.

FMT melaporkan bahawa kertas siasatan Perancis polis mendedahkan bahawa Najib Altantuya - yang merupakan Menteri Pertahanan pada masa itu - dan Razak Baginda, berada dalam lawatan rasmi ke Paris dari 16 Jun hingga 18 pada tahun 2000.

Najib juga melawat Perancis pada Julai 2001, Julai 2003, Jun 2005 dan Oktober 2007 tetapi ia adalah mungkin bahawa Najib dan rombongannya telah memasuki Perancis melalui saluran diplomatik, kata laporan FMT.
Pegawai gergasi pertahanan milik kerajaan DCNS juga telah memaklumkan kepada polis Perancis bahawa mereka tidak pernah bertemu dengan orang yang dinamakan Altantuya dan tidak tahu yang dia hadir semasa rundingan untuk perjanjian Scorpene, kata laporan itu.

Dokumen-dokumen sulit juga menimbulkan persoalan tentang peranan Altantuya sebagai penterjemah bagi perjanjian itu sejak pegawai DCNS juga telah memaklumkan kepada polis Perancis bahawa rundingan untuk kapal selam telah dilakukan di Malaysia, bukan di Perancis.

"Satu bekas pengurus jualan rasmi DCNS di Malaysia, Fredric Faura - memberitahu penyiasat Perancis bahawa rundingan telah dijalankan dalam bahasa Inggeris, tidak dalam bahasa Perancis, jadi tidak perlu bagi seorang jurubahasa," FMT ditambah dalam laporannya.

"Tambahan pula, Altantuya tidak bercakap Perancis, jadi dia tidak dapat bertindak sebagai jurubahasa Bahasa Inggeris-Perancis."

Jib, hang nak debat ke tak nak? tanya Anwar...

Ketua Pembangkang Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sekali lagi dengan sinis mempersoalkan sama ada Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak ingin berdebat dengannya atau tidak.

Anwar berkata, kenyataan Najib sebelum ini yang mengatakan bahawa debat bukan satu budaya juga merupakan helah untuk mengelak daripada berdebat dengan beliau.

"Dia nak debat ke tak nak? Dia anjurkan debat-debat di seluruh sekolah. Hadiah (yang diperolehi ialah piala) perdana menteri. Debat-hadiah-perdana menteri. Di sekolah minta anak-anak untuk berdebat. Hadiahnya (piala) perdana menteri. Tapi perdana menteri kata bukan budaya. Habis yang diajar di sekolah itu apa?

"Itu cuma helah nak elak untuk berdebat," kata Anwar ketika ditemui pemberita selepas menyampaikan pidato aspresiasi di majlis pelancaran dan diskusi buku Islam dan Melayu: Martabat Umat dan Daulat Rakyat malam tadi.

Majlis pelancaran dan diskusi buku hasil tulisan Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil itu juga turut dihadiri  Presiden PKR, Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail dan anaknya yang juga naib presiden PKR, Nurul Izzah Anwar dan Timbalan Presiden PKR, Azmin Ali.

Jumaat lalu, Najib terus mengelak apabila ditanya mengenai cabaran yang dikemukakan Anwar  untuk mengadakan debat.

Katanya, debat tidak semestinya dilihat sebagai satu budaya tetapi mesti dilihat mengikut kepada keadaan.

Sementara itu, ketika ditanya mengenai kenyataan Ketua Pemuda Umno, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar yang mengatakan perbahasan di Parlimen ada unsur perdebatan, Anwar menafikan perkara tersebut.

"Debat... bila Datuk Najib datang? nak debat atau tidak. Bagi alasan Parlimen ada debat. Tak ada.

"Kedua ini bukan budaya Melayu. Maki orang, pukul orang, bunuh, hina itu budaya Melayu ke? Guna media untuk aibkan orang itu budaya Melayu?" soal Anwar.

Dalam pada itu, mengulas mengenai kemenangan pemimpin baru Mesir, Mohamed Morsi, Anwar berkata, perkara tersebut membuktikan bahawa suara rakyat harus dihormati.

Menurut Anwar, presiden Mesir yang baru itu telah menghadapi pelbagai tuduhan tetapi masih ada kekuatan dan sambutan daripada rakyat negara itu.

"Rakyat Mesir dah buat keputusan. Ini tunjukkan bahawa suara rakyat harus dihormati. Beliau telah dipenjara dan dihina dengan pelbagai tuduhan tetapi masih lagi ada kekuatan dan mendapat sambutan rakyat," kata Anwar.

Ketika mengulas kenyataan Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad mengenai usaha menjatuhkan kerajaan ala 'Arab Spring' tidak seharusnya berlaku di negara ini, Anwar berkata, mantan perdana menteri itu masih mewakili zaman lampau.

Sambil menyifatkan bapa pemodenan itu mewakili pandangan bekas presiden Mesir, Hosni Mubarak, Anwar berkata, Mahathir masih lagi merasai kehilangan Hosni.

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has again thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Prime Minister Naji Abdul Razak to an open debate.

Najib's response - that it is not the Malaysian political culture to hold debates - is just another excuse to avoid the challenge, Anwar said.

“Does he want to debate or not? He has been organising debates in all schools.... students are told to debate... The prize is the Prime Minister's Debate Cup, yet the prime minister says it is not our culture (to debate). Then what is being taught in schools?

Anwar was speaking to the media after delivering a speech last night at the launch of a book entitled ‘Islam dan Melayu: Martabat Umat dan Daulat Rakyat’, written by Siddiq Fadzil.

Also present were Anwar's wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, their daughter and party vice-president Nurul Izzah, and deputy president Azmin Ali.

Najib last Friday brushed aside the series of debates between BN and Pakatan Rakyat representatives.

"It is not necessarily a culture, depending on the situation. If there is a need for debate among leaders, then there can be debates. But it is not a political culture as a whole in our country's system," he had said.

Anwar also disagreed with Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar's argument that Parliament is already a debate platform between the two leaders.

“Debate... when did Najib come (to Parliament)? (Does he) want to debate or not? (He) gave the excuse that there is already debate in Parliament, (but there is) none.

“Is cursing people, beating up people, murder and insulting Malay culture (part of debate)? Abusing the media to victimise people, is this Malay culture?”

Responding to Dr Mahathir Mohamad's remark that toppling the government through 'Arab Spring' style protests should not happen in Malaysia, Anwar said the former prime minister was still living in the past.

“Mahathir represents the past ... Our friend Mahathir still feels the loss of (former Egypt president) Hosni (Mubarak) although the people of Egypt are happy about it,” he added.- malaysiakini

LRT Ampang - PDA consortium yg.berjaya dapat kontark,tapi,Najib beri kontrak itu kepada George Kent...

PKR mendakwa Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak campur tangan dalam pemberian projek tambahan sistem transit aliran ringan (LRT) Ampang bernilai RM960 juta.

Pengarah Stategi PKR Rafizi Ramli mendakwa Najib sendiri memastikan supaya kontrak tersebut dianugerahkan kepada sebuah konsortium yang diterajui syarikat George Kent.

Menurutnya, konsortium terbabit tidak terpilih melalui proses tender terbuka yang dijalankan oleh syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana).

“Perdana Menteri sendiri pernah berjanji untuk berlaku telus dan memastikan semua kontrak besar dijalankan secara tender terbuka.

“Menurut sumber, Najib sendiri campur tangan untuk pastikan kontrak itu dianugerahkan kepada George Kent sedangkan campur tangan beliau ini tidak disenangi pihak pengurusan Prasarana,” dakwa Rafizi.

Beliau memberitahu surat daripada Pengarah Pengurusan Kumpulan Prasarana kepada Kementerian Kewangan bertarikh 12 Disember 2011 memaklumkan bahawa Konsortium PDA dipilih sebagai kontraktor terbaik projek tersebut.

 

“Malah surat itu juga memaklumkan kepada Perdana Menteri memohon kelulusan mengeluarkan Surat Tuju Terima kepada Konsortium PDA.

“Akhbar Business Times dalam laporannya juga mengesahkan bahawa Najib bertindak menukar keputusan Prasarana dan menolak proses tender terbuka dalam projek mega yang melibatkan wang rakyat itu,” kata Rafizi.- malaysiakini

PKR has warned Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to come clean on the RM960 million Ampang LRT line extension project, or face an exposé similar to that which brought down the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC).

PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli (right) said the project, which was allegedly awarded to a losing bidder, had sullied the Najib's administration's anti-graft pledge.
 
"PKR will make revelations every two days beginning today about this scandal, which will test Najib's commitment in combating corruption and abuse of power," Rafizi said in a statement.

The coming revelations, would be a response to Umno's "manipulation" of his resignation from the Selangor government to portray a rift in PKR.

Rafizi said that his resignation was purely related to his desire to focus on the general election, which is expected to be called soon.

"I advise Najib to handle this coming scandal well for the good for his administration's reputation," he said.

Rafizi was an instrumental figure in uncovering the alleged abuse of a RM250 million soft loan by the NFC bosses, who are family members of Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Shahrizat was eventually not re-appointed as Women, Family and Community Development Minister and her husband Mohamad Salleh Ismail was charged with criminal breach of trust in connection with the RM250 million government soft loan to NFC.

Following this, Najib assumed Shahrizat's cabinet post, on top of his role as finance minister.

'Najib interfered in LRT line extension open tender'

Elaborating on the "scandal", Rafizi said Najib had interfered in an open tender to ensure the George Kent consortium won the close to a billion ringgit contract for "engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of system works for the Ampang Line extension project".

"PKR has received reliable information that Najib personally interfered in this matter to ensure the contract is awarded to George Kent, even though the prime minister had promised transparency in the granting of major contracts through open tender," he said.

Citing a June 22 Business Times report quoting sources saying George Kent was tipped to win the project due to be announced in the next few days, Rafizi said the report came after Najib made clear to government leaders his intention to award the project the consortium.

"However, his intervention has raised discomfort among the management of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd as it goes against the evaluation results made by the company before this," he said.
 
The company that actually won the bid through open tender, Rafizi said, was PDA consortium.
 
"This is verified through a letter dated Dec 12, 2011, from Prasarana group managing director Shahril Mokhthar informing the Finance Ministry that PDA consortium was the best contractor for the project," he said.

He said the letter was addressed directly to Najib who also helms the Finance Minsitry, and it requested that a letter of acceptance be issued to PDA consortium.

"The latest development, as reported by , confirms that Najib has acted to change the decision of Prasarana and rejected the process of open tender for mega projects that are worth billions of ringgit in taxpayers funds," Rafizi added.- malaysiakini

Katanya, syarikat itu banyak memberi sumbangan dalam kejohanan badminton Badan Amal dan Kebajikan Tenaga Isteri-Isteri Menteri (Bakti) pada akhir 1990-an semasa Anwar menjadi Timbalan Perdana Menteri.

Beliau turut mengakui pernah menaja aktiviti sukan air salah seorang anak Anwar di Pulau Pinang semasa Ketua Pembangkang itu dalam penjara selain menerima kunjungan Wan Azizah yang baru pulang dari mengerjakan umrah semasa menetap di Dubai, Emiriyah Arab Bersatu (UAE).

"Hubungan kami sekadar kawan kerana saya juga meminati sukan badminton. Saya tidak mengenali Anwar malah tidak pernah terlibat dalam politik.

"Oleh itu saya hairan bagaimana nama saya dikaitkan dengan Anwar dan berita ini pernah berlaku pada 13 tahun lalu tetapi saya biarkan.

"Namun kali ini disebabkan wajah saya disiarkan (Mingguan Malaysia) saya tiada pilihan selain untuk tampil menjelaskan perkara sebenar," katanya ketika ditemui di sini hari ini.

Wajah Zaliah dipaparkan di muka depan Mingguan Malaysia hari ini berikutan pendedahan ahli perniagaan, Ummi Hafilda Ali berhubung seorang wanita yang dikatakan sangat dikenali oleh Anwar.

Dalam pendedahannya, Ummi Hafilda mendakwa, Anwar kenal sangat dengan wanita tersebut yang bukanlah seorang istimewa atau ahli korporat tetapi cukai pendapatan mencecah RM50 juta.

Selain itu, Ummi Hafilda mendakwa, wanita itu memiliki atau mempunyai kaitan dengan 62 hartanah mewah berupa kondominium dan banglo kebanyakkan di Pulau Pinang.

Berikutan dakwaan itu, Zaliah meminta Ummi Hafilda agar tampil bersama bukti-bukti bagi membersihkan nama beliau dan keluarganya.

Selain itu, beliau juga meminta Anwar mengeluarkan kenyataan segera bagi menafikan hubungan mereka seperti didakwa pihak tertentu.

Dalam pada itu, Zaliah mendakwa memiliki aset berbentuk wang tunai dan hartanah berjumlah RM100 juta hasil daripada perniagaan lumba kuda yang dijalankannya pada akhir 1990-an.

Menurutnya, bagaimanapun kesemua asetnya bertukar hak milik semasa beliau ke Dubai untuk melupakan kesedihan ekoran kematian anak lelakinya pada Januari 2000.

"Seminggu semasa berada di sana (Dubai), pegawai Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) membuat serbuan di rumah saya dan menyita 10 buah peti besi di Bukit Jambul, Pulau Pinang mengandungi wang tunai, barangan kemas dan dokumen penting.

"Pada masa sama, saya dinasihatkan oleh peguam supaya tidak pulang sehinggalah setahun baru saya pulang ke tanah air namun mendapati semua aset termasuk wang tunai berjumlah RM26 juta di dalam bank telah dipindah milik," jelasnya.

Beliau berkata, harta-hartanya yang lain termasuk empat buah rumah di Pulau Pinang bernilai kira-kira RM3.68 juta.

Katanya, pada masa itu beliau turut diburu Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) berkaitan dengan cukai pendapatan berjumlah lebih RM50 juta hingga beliau diisytiharkan muflis tidak lama selepas itu.

Sementara itu, Ummi Hafilda ketika dihubungi memberitahu, beliau tidak pernah mendakwa mengenali Zaliah secara peribadi.

Katanya, pendedahan yang dibuat adalah bertujuan semata-mata mahukan Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) menyiasat kaitan antara wanita berkenaan dengan Anwar.

"Ini bukan isu kenal atau tidak kenal. Saya sendiri tidak pernah mendakwa bahawa saya mengenal perempuan berkenaan (Zaliah) secara peribadi.

"Pendedahan yang saya lakukan itu bertujuan untuk membantu siasatan SPRM berhubung kes pemilikan akaun induk bernilai RM3 bilion oleh Anwar. Saya telah serahkan bukti dan sekarang tugas SPRM menyiasat apa kaitan, hubungan atau penglibatan perempuan itu dengan Anwar," katanya.- utusan online .com 

'Mystery woman' denies link with Anwar...

The ‘mystery woman’ linked to the claim that Anwar Ibrahim held 20 master accounts containing RM3 billion while he was in government, has denied that she was his proxy.

Zaliah Zakaria, 56, said she used to know Anwar's wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (left).

This was when Zaliah was president and owner of Wira Tangkis Sdn Bhd.

Malay daily Utusan Malaysia quoted Zaliah as saying that Wira Tangkis had contributed to charity badminton tournaments organised by the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the late 1990s when Anwar was deputy prime minister.

Zaliah also said she had sponsored water sports involving one of Anwar's daughters in Penang, while he was in Sungal Buloh jail.

“Our relationship is just a friendship because I also love badminton. I wonder how my name could have been linked to Anwar. (Furthermore) this (is said to have) happened 13 years ago, but I ignored it (then),” she was quoted as saying.

“But this time, because my photo was published (in Mingguan Malaysia, the Sunday edition of Utusan), I have no choice but to come forward to explain the truth.”

Yesterday Mingguan Malaysia had cited a pro-Umno blog as having originally published the photo, after Umno member Ummi Hafilda submitted ‘evidence’ to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer at a meeting several weeks ago.
According to the paper, Ummi (below) had claimed that Anwar was very close to Zaliah, who paid income tax of RM50 million.

She was further reported as saying that Zaliah owned or was linked to 62 luxury condominiums and bungalows, most of these located in Penang.

On this allegation, Zaliah demanded that Ummi furnishes evidence. She also wants Anwar to immediately issue a statement denying her link to the allegation.

Zaliah claimed that she had once owned cash and properties worth RM100 million as a result of her horse-racing business but that she was later tracked down by the Inland Revenue Board and forced to declare bankruptcy.- malaysiakini

'Rafizi, Faekah issues no blot on Selangor'

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim has downplayed the issue of two recent incidents linked to the Selangor administration led by Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim of the PKR.

Anwar does not see the sudden resignation of PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli from his Selangor government position and the signing of a recommendation letter by Khalid's political secretary's as a political crisis.

Anwar, who is also Selangor's economic adviser, said Rafizi resigned from his state post as he wants to focus on party work.

Rafizi had been speaking about resigning since last year, saying his departure from the post should not be viewed as something controversial.

Rafizi would be making a statement today to clarify the situation, Anwar added.

"He is now full-time with the party. He does not think he should be serving the state. Rafizi was already thinking of leaving since last year," Anwar told journalists in Penang yesterday.

'Issues manipulated by Umno media'

The PKR de facto leader also said the issues surrounding Pakatan Rakyat's administration of states are manipulated by the Umno-linked media, where everything "suddenly becomes a major political matter".

"Rafizi did not resign from the party but from the state post because he thinks it is an ethical question," said Anwar, who was on a one-day working trip to Penang.

"He could take it when doing party work for a few hours a day but now he is being dragged all over the country," he added.

"I was with him in Perak recently and he clarified the situation of his resignation."

Rafizi tendered his resignation from his Selangor government post last week, citing he needed to rest.

Rafizi said his decision to quit as chief executive officer at the Selangor economic adviser's office "has no political dimension to it".

He brushed off claims by sources in the Selangor government that he resigned over disagreements with Khalid.

Anwar looking into Faekah's case

Anwar was also asked about the correspondence between Khalid's political secretary Faekah Husin, a law firm and a Selangor government-linked company.

Khalid sees it as normal and not ethically wrong, saying Faekah's letter was forward to Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd for consideration.

"The next course of action is that of the company, to either accept or reject," Khalid had said.

But Anwar said Khalid had issued instructions that no political leader should write recommendation letters.

He said he had yet to see Faekah's clarification on the matter, but was certainly looking into it.

Asked whether this 'controversy' would tarnish the PKR-led administration in Selangor, Anwar shot back: "One letter of recommendation and you think it can cause the state to collapse?

"What about the RM250 million losses (of National Feedlot Corporation) by those linked to an Umno leader? Is it of no concern?" he asked.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim berkata, isu peletakan jawatan Pengarah Strategi PKR Rafizi Ramli daripada pejabat penasihat ekonomi Selangor dan isu sekitar pegawai kanan menteri besar Faekah Husin bukanlah krisis politik.

Menurut Anwar - penasihat ekonomi Selangor - Rafizi meletakkan jawatan bagi memfokuskan tenaganya kepada kerja-kerja parti.

Rafizi akan membuat kenyataan bagi menjelaskan situasi sebenar, kata Anwar yang juga ketua pembangkang dan ketua umum PKR.

Rafizi kini berkhidmat sepenuh masa untuk parti setelah menimbangkan tindakan itu sejak tahun lalu, kata Anwar kepada pemberita di Pulau Pinang.

Rafizi pada 21 Jun membuat keputusan mengejut itu atas alasan perlu berehat, memberi tumpuan kepada ibadat dan ia "tiada sebarang dimensi politik".

Beliau juga berkata, semua pertanyaan selepas itu hendaklah ditujukan kepada kerajaan negeri atau Anwar sendiri.

300 ex-BN members to join PKR...

About 300 former members of Gerakan, the Indian Progressive Front and MIC have applied to join PKR.

De facto leader Anwar Ibrahim accepted their forms at a ceramah last night in Nibong Tebal, from Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegu Bard.

"This should come as a big shock to (Penang) Umno chief Zainal Abidin Osman," said Badrul.

In front of a 5,000 strong multi-racial crowd Anwar thanked the applicants for joining the "PKR family".

He later apologised for having selected Tan Tee Beng to represent the Nibong Tebal parliamentary constituency in the 2008 general election.

"This time around, do not threaten or ask me to give in during the selection of candidates," he said in his hour-long speech.

"We will only choose those who are qualified, good, and are firm in defending the principles of a clean and fair government for the people.”

Tan, a former Gerakan leader who had joined PKR, had quit the party in 2009 and became an Independent candidate before joining Parti Kita as its Penang chief. He has since been sacked for challenging party chief Zaid Ibrahim.

'Principles, integrity to be upheld' 

Anwar expressed regret over the departure of several PKR leaders due to personal interest. 

Among them were former Penang PKR chief and Bayan Baru MP Zaharin Mohd Hisham, who was “merely seeking projects to enrich himself”. 

Zahrin had quit the party about the same time as Tan, citing irreconcilable differences with Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, whose administration he had openly criticised.

"I am with Guan Eng on this, based on principles and integrity. Whoever is not in line with this, we will reject," Anwar said.

He repeated Pakatan Rakyat's pledges on free education, reduction in the price of petrol and the abolition of toll charges for motorcycles in Penang.
