- mk
A delegation led by Selangor PKR deputy chief Zuraida Kamaruddin to see PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail this morning on the disputed candidate list for Selangor failed to yield results, leaving the party with less than 24 hours for a resolution. The candidate list is expected to be announced at a Pakatan Harapan gathering at the Kuala Selangor stadium tomorrow night. Selangor PKR lawmaker Hee Loy Sian said during the state leadership's meeting with Wan Azizah at her home in Segambut this morning, the PKR president had sought to "confirm" some names. "Some were new candidates, the president wanted to know their background," he said. The delegation came amid complaints from within PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's circles that Wan Azizah had decided to drop several candidates proposed by Selangor PKR. Azmin is also the Selangor PKR chief. Hee, who is the incumbent Petaling Jaya Selatan MP, said Azmin did not personally go to see Wan Azizah as he was in Penang. However, he said Azmin will personally meet Wan Azizah soon. The meeting is expected to take place tomorrow. Asked how did Wan Azizah react to the candidate list proposed by Selangor PKR, Hee said: "She neither say okay or not okay". "She will finalise the list with Azmin as soon as possible," he said. Hee also brushed aside concerns that time was running out, claiming that the official candidate list does not necessarily have to be announced tomorrow. "Who said there will be an announcement tomorrow? Only you said it," he said. Pressed on when the list can be formalised and announced, he added: "You will need to ask the president, I cannot answer that. "Hopefully by tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or two days later. But it would not be later than 25th," he said. Nomination day for the 14th general election is fixed on April 28 while polling day will be on May 9. - mk
- ShahbudinHusin
How The Old Fox Mahathir
Outsmarted World’s Biggest Crook...
Yes, we know. The Malaysia “Kangaroo Court” will declare UMNO, an illegal society effective yesterday (19 April, 2018), is still a legal society by throwing the case out of the window as fast as lightning. Still, it’s nice to know that the world can see how caretaker Prime Minister Najib Razak bulldozes his way to contest the election as an illegitimate candidate. UMNO (United Malays National Organisation) is Malaysia’s largest political party with Mr. Najib as its president. UMNO is also the backbone or lead partner in Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, which was the ruling party in Malaysia before the Parliament was dissolved paving the way for the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018. With roughly 3 weeks away before the polling day, and a week before the nomination day on April 28, the political party is in panic mode. A group of 16 brave UMNO members, including a branch chief, filed a judicial review application today (Friday) to challenge the decision of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to extend the period from holding the UMNO leadership elections until April next year. While the legal process is ongoing, the group is also seeking for the Court to suspend all UMNO activities until the disposal of said action. What this means is, unless the “Kangaroo Court” moves really fast, UMNO President and BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak cannot sign the letters of appointment for candidates from UMNO and BN in the coming general election. Of course, Najib’s paid cybertroopers, propagandists and bloggers are foaming at the mouth – crying, whining and bitching – that it was former premier Mahathir’s fault for pulling such a stunt. But even if it’s true that the 93-year-old Mahathir was behind the sabotage, can anyone blame the old fox for easily outsmarting the narcissist Thief-in-Chief Najib Razak? Mr. Najib has nobody but himself to blame for plunging UMNO into the crisis now. Had he grown his spine and courageously held the party election from the beginning, he would not have had gotten himself into the shit-hole he’s now having. So, how did the self-proclaimed Bugis warrior screw up, and still has no idea what hits him? Here’s the story. The last party elections were held on October 19, 2013. According to UMNO Constitution, an election must be held every 3 years. Therefore, the subsequent election should be held on October 19, 2016. Thanks to the explosion of 1MDB scandal, where PM Najib was caught with his hand in the cookie jar – a whopping US$681 million in his private banking accounts – he had no choice but to postpone it. Under the pretext of strengthening UMNO ahead of the 14th nationwide election, Mr. Najib postponed for 18 months the party election when it was due on October 19, 2016. Obviously, he was too terrified to allow the party’s election for fear of being dislodged by former mentor-turned-enemy Mahathir. That 18-month extension expired yesterday (April 19, 2018).
Amusingly, on March 5, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) conveniently allowed another postponement of the party elections in accordance with the Clause 10.17 of the party constitution, allegedly allows a further extension of 18 months. The problem is this – the so-called Clause 10.17 actually does not exist in the UMNO constitution. In essence, the Malaysia Registrar of Societies (RoS) was either ignorant, or was conspiring with UMNO in legalising an illegal society. Thinking she was smart, RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim allowed the extra 18 months extension to UMNO under Section 13A (4). However, such empowerment could not be used in the case of UMNO. The Section 13A (4) only applicable in situation where the RoS had itself given an instruction to any society to comply with an order, but failed to do so, to which the RoS could give another 18 months extension. Clearly, in the case of UMNO, RoS wasn’t involved at all from the beginning when the UMNO Supreme Council and Najib gave themselves the 18 months, which expired yesterday. In short, UMNO is officially an illegal organization effective April 19, 2018. Period. However, Malaysian “Kangaroo Court” can always bend the rules to suit caretaker Prime Minister Najib Razak by simply throwing out the judicial review application brought by the 16 UMNO members. But if the court does that, it openly admits that the judiciary together with RoS are perpetrators of illegal activities in Malaysia. It’s funny how karma works. Previously, Najib had used the same Registrar of Societies (RoS) to intimidate opposition DAP party. After DAP conducted a re-election of its CEC (central executive committee) members on Sept 29, 2013 in compliance to the directive of the RoS pursuant to their letter dated July 30, 2013, RoS still wasn’t happy and continued harassing the party. RoS ordered the re-election of DAP’s CEC after it found so-called irregularities and manipulation of votes by the party in its initial election in December 2012. Not satisfied with the DAP’s re-election, the then-RoS director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah instructed DAP to hold yet another re-election of the party’s CEC, claiming that the re-election held on Sept 29, 2013 was equally unlawful. So, an obedient DAP can be bullied to hold multiple re-elections until the RoS is satisfied but at the same time, UMNO can be given the leniency and special privilege not to conduct any election since 2013? Heck, the RoS had even abused its power by legalizing UMNO when the party should have been declared an illegal society. RoS was also super strict with PPBM (Malaysian United Indigenous Party), another opposition party led by Mahathir Mohamad. The Registrar of Societies declared the party illegal at the eleventh hour before the dissolution of Parliament in what appeared to be a deliberate act to prevent the influential former premier from contesting under his party’s logo.
It’s disgraceful that the country’s Registrar of Societies blatantly and illegally allowed UMNO to postpone its party elections, but oppresses and suppresses opposition parties at the same time. But what comes around goes around. Previously, the same RoS had cited problems with PPBM’s status as the reason why opposition alliance Pakatan Harapan could not be registered. Similarly, now that UMNO has become an illegal political party, the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition should be outlawed too. This also means the BN’s symbol – “dacing (scales)” – cannot be used too. Well, Najib and his minions should stop whining and crying about being sabotaged by veteran UMNO warlords who started the fiasco – “Iron Lady” Rafidah Aziz and Rais Yatim. Of course, the whole chess-game has been part of Mahathir’s strategy from the beginning. Didn’t the 93-year-old former premier warn Najib about his plan-A, plan-B, plan-C and so on in case Najib plays dirty? Its funny how Najib’s propagandists are bad-mouthing Mahathir when not too long ago, they mocked and insulted the old man as senile and not fit to become the prime minister again. It’s absolutely embarrassing that an old fox Mahathir has easily outsmarted 64-year-old Najib. Sure, everything will be fine eventually as money change hands to make the judicial review goes away. Perhaps Najib should consider bribing the 16 UMNO members to withdraw their application. Perhaps Najib should consider declaring “emergency” and rule unchallenged like a dictator. ft
- mk
Isu pemilihan UMNO nie senang je handle, bak kata Datuk Nikah Kahwin dlm cerita Musang Berjanggut, "Undang-undang dalam negeri kanda (BN) yang bikin… ITU SEMUA BOLEH PADAM…" - اخي أزري Apa masalahnya. Bersatu bertanding pakai logo pkr bila bersatu d bubar. Umno pun blh bertanding pakai logo mca, mic atau pas pn blh. No problem. Liow Tiong Lai can be temporary chairman of BN. Cina Kui to the rescue. If I were him I won't sign the letters for those in UMNO who belittled him. Let them beg on bended knees. - T C Chan Haniff until the High Court makes a decision, Najib will proceed to sign the authorization letters as UMNO/BN president/chairman. Of course you should seek to obtain an interim injunction to restrain him from so doing until the judicial review leave application is heard and determined by the court. This is in order to preserve the status quo and integrity of the pending application and to ensure that the judicial review is not rendered nugatory. The million dollar question is whether any High Court judge will be brave enough to grant such an interim injunction against UMNO/BN. - Gerard Lourdesamy The grave is dug. Now we are waiting for the corpse to be put in. But then Dr RoS could give miracle medicine to revive the dead. - Awang Top
Sixteen Umno branch members have filed an application for leave to proceed with a judicial review to quash the Registrar of Societies' (ROS) decision to allow Umno a time extension to hold its party elections at all levels. The application was filed with the Kuala Lumpur High Court. The 16, from 11 branches in six states, named the ROS and Umno organising secretary Abdul Rauf Yusoh as respondents. The applicants are also seeking a mandamus order to compel the ROS to utilise Section 13, 14, 16 and 66 of the Societies Act to investigate the party based on the correspondence it sent to the ROS. Alternatively, the applicants are seeking a mandamus order to compel the ROS to take action against Rauf for allegedly violating Article 9.3, Article 9.4, 15.3, 18.2 and 10.16 of the Umno constitution for not holding the party elections within the 18 months provided for. In addition to this, the applicants also sought for the de-registration of Umno once the ROS completed its investigations into the alleged violations. The applicants also sought to compel the ROS to issue a notice under Section 14(2) and 14(5) under the Societies Act for provisional dissolution and permanent dissolution. The applicants are also seeking for the court to compel the ROS to suspend all Umno's activities until the disposal of the judicial review. The applicants are also seeking a declaration that all Umno branches do not have legal effect, as well as all party divisions and the Umno supreme council, be dissolved effective today, April 20, 2018. They are further seeking the dissolution of Umno effective today. This follows their argument that the last day for the branches to hold their elections was on Feb 28 and the last day for the supreme council to function was yesterday (April 19). The branches last held their elections on Aug 31, 2013 and were supposed to hold a fresh election by Aug 31, 2016 before being granted an extension of 18 months by the ROS. The 16 applicants, aged between 30 and 55, are Salihudin Ahmad Khalid, Noor Halimi Yahya, Mariam Mohd Ishak, Mohd Hafami Hanif, Saharuddin Tukiman, Azaid Jani, Normalawati Hassan, Radiana Abd Manaf, Mohd Raafeek Rahim, Nurul Hanna Mohd Suhot, Kamarul Abd Wahid, Mohd Hikamal Md Hassim, Muzamzamir Abd Wahab, Norizam Jamaludin, Rohani Ahmad, and Muhamad Hafizi Hashim. This case comes just weeks before the 14th general election. - mk
Folks, not every UMNO member who hates MO1 and his team of kleptocrats has left UMNO to join PPBM. Millions of them remain inside UMNO. But most certainly their loyalty does not lie with Team Kleptocrat at all. Here is a clear example. 16 UMNO members have taken UMNO to Court to challenge the party's validity because the party has not held any party elections for 5 YEARS. Most certainly there are more supporters behind these 16 brave hearts. UMNO is dead, they are finished. What can possibly drive 16 party members to file a legal challenge in Court which can potentially stop UMNO from contesting the coming General Elections - just 19 days before polling day. For them to do something like this, these folks must seriously detest the Kleptocrats. As I said, there is a much larger undercurrent even inside UMNO. Of course we must now see just how independent is the Judiciary. Here is the real problem. This is a legal challenge. The Court must quickly dispose of this case - whether in UMNO's favour or not is besides the point. If the Court does not decide on this case before the elections then this legal challenge can pop up again even AFTER the general elections. It will constantly hang over UMNO. This is a tricky situation indeed. Some really lame duck morons running the party now. - ostb
Penang lang...
I am sharing this, because I can testify that this is the truth and simply because I am a thoroughbred Penangite or Penang lang. I was having some friendly argument with a friend who happened to be a staunch BN's supporter and he said this,"This Lim Guang Eng fella now he is very lansi (cocky) now that he is a CM of Penang and this is what I said to him. I asked him, had there even been any politicians from BN put behind bars,"makan nasi curry" for defending the innocent people like you and me? I remember in 1994, Ah Eng was incarcerated under the infamous "sedition act" for seeking justice for a minor Malay girl who was said to have been raped by someone powerful. Can you guys still remember that? I asked him again, has there been seen any politicians from BN, when making rounds in the market places, where aunties can even "wipe the sweats" for him and giving him big hugs?,, but many aunties have done that for Lim Guan Eng. I asked him yet again, has there been any state leaders from BN, giving out "money" to the elderly above 60s, to single mothers, to students, to the deceased family year in and year out before ? I told him Ah Eng under PR has done that first and will continue to do that if they are returned to power. I asked him again, did he realize that now Penang has become cleaner and greener, more trees are planted, more parks are constructed and Penangites at large are happy? And in Penang, even the Malays and the Indians are happy because they can feel that this "lansi" Lim Guan Eng can really take care of them. It is with my strong belief that BN would not suddenly be so "generous" to the Rakyat,if their position is not shaken, if they are not losing grip. Therefore,I say this,it is only fair after all these 50 over years, let us give Pakatan a chance and give a us chance too cos Malaysia truly deserves BETTER Lastly, I told him that I believed that Pakatan's Manifesto would come to fruition, simply because I have witnessed it in Penang. Seriously speaking I'd never thought Penang could be so good now and I have waited many years until 2008.. And did you know that now there are more people willing to take the trouble to come back from Singapore and to come to Penang and vote, just because they want to make sure that Penang will not fall back to BN? Please help me to share this out, to tell the rest that We are happy in Penang under Pakatan, so can they if they choose to change. - Eugene Ung,f/bk

Why is Harakah in the red if PAS
can afford RM35 mil?...
Why is PAS' official mouthpiece Harakah Daily in the red if the Islamist party's members are willing to fork out money to get the party through the 14th general election (GE14), asked Mahfuz Omar today. In a statement, the Amanah vice-president questioned how would PAS members and supporters contribute RM35 each, if they are not even willing to pay RM2 to keep the publication afloat. He was responding to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan's statement yesterday that the party was confident it could afford to contest in 160 seats in GE14, thanks to contributions from its one million members. If one of them gave RM35, the party would have RM35 million to use for the elections, Takiyuddin had said. This was in response to Mahfuz who had questioned the source of funding for the contest, which he estimated to be at least RM34.4 million. Mahfuz, who is formerly from PAS, further said in today's statement that if the party's members and supporters were that generous, Harakah Daily's staff members would not have to be retrenched, transferred out and made to go through a restructuring, due to a lack of funding.
"What are the chances of PAS members boycotting Harakah, but becoming generous enough to donate to the party for the election? With one million members, why is only 30 thousand copies of the paper printed for publication? "PAS' building in Jalan Raja Laut is also neglected without maintenance, it looks as dull as the party," he said. Mahfuz then recalled that when he was in PAS, the party carried out various campaigns to collect donations from party members, to fund the party's land, building, special projects, and keep Harakah Daily afloat, but still fell short. "Suddenly, PAS announced that it will contest in 160 seats with funds it claims coming from its members' pockets. His explanation does not answer anything, it raises more questions. "Making the party's current account public will help explain the source of funds for the election," he said. - mk
Why the Indonesian Courts
release Equanimity...
A luxury yacht linked to allegations that US$4.5 billion was looted from Malaysia’s state investment fund 1MDB must be returned to its wealthy owner, an Indonesian court ruled on Tuesday, citing missteps by police in seizing the vessel. The decision comes about six weeks after Indonesian authorities, acting on a request from the FBI, seized the Cayman Islands-registered Equanimity, reportedly worth some US$250 million, which was moored off the Indonesian tourist island of Bali. Its three dozen crew remain on the impounded ship. The US Justice Department alleges in civil lawsuits that huge sums of money were stolen from 1MDB – set up by Prime Minister Najib Razak – in a campaign of fraud and money-laundering. Najib and the fund deny any wrongdoing. The suits list US$1.7 billion in assets allegedly bought with the stolen funds, which US officials are seeking to recover. Those assets include the 300 foot (90 metre) yacht bought by Jho Low, a former unofficial adviser to 1MDB. Low, whose exact whereabouts are unknown, challenged the seizure in court.
It sided with the Malaysian financier on Tuesday, calling the police actions “invalid” and “unlawful”. Indonesian authorities did not follow proper procedures concerning confiscation of assets sought by foreign authorities, it said. “The Indonesian police acted beyond their power,” said presiding judge Ratmoho, who like many Indonesians goes by one name. “[The court] annuls the seizure.” Police spokesman Setyo Wasisto said authorities would abide by the decision, but could not say when the boat would be returned to Low. “we need to study the ruling first,” he added. Last month a spokesman for Low lashed out at the seizure, saying the US Department of Justice (DoJ) had “still not taken any steps to prove that any impropriety has occurred”. “It is therefore disappointing that, rather than reflecting on the deeply flawed and politically-motivated allegations, the DoJ is continuing with its pattern of global overreach – all based on entirely unsupported claims of wrongdoing.” - scmp
