MB saman Utusan & Melayu jadi Red Indian,kata hakim...

Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob memfailkan saman terhadap Utusan Malaysia berhubung tulisan “Hebat Sangatkah Adnan?’ yang disiarkan pada 9 November lalu.

Utusan menerima surat 18 November daripada syarikat guaman Manjeet Singh Dhillon dengan nilai tuntutan saman sebanyak RM15 juta, lapor akbar Umno itu.

Utusan tidak akan mengeluarkan sebarang komen mengenai saman tersebut memandangkan ia bakal menjadi kes mahkamah.

Perkara itu dinyatakan oleh Awang Selamat, yang dianggap sebagai suara Utusan, dalam kolumnya hari ini.

Awang Selamat sebelum ini, tanpa menafikan peranan dan kerja keras Adnan, berkata ramai berpendapat BN di Pahang boleh menang lebih besar jika beliau umumkan berundur selepas PRU-13.

Menurut kolumnis itu, Utusan sebelum ini menerbitkan laporan khas tentang kebanjiran 30,000 warga asing terutama Bangladesh di Cameron Highlands.

Adnan kemudian dikatakan berang dan mengaitkannya dengan agenda media untuk menjatuhkan pemimpin selain mahu melariskan akhbar bagi mengelakkan syarikat akhbar rugi dan tutup. - mk

Adnan Yaakob sues Utusan for RM15mil...

Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob is suing Utusan Malaysia for RM15 million, over a commentary it published two weeks ago.

The Malay-language daily said it has received a letter of demand dated Nov 18, for the article ‘Is Adnan that great?’ published on Nov 9.

The letter came from Adnan’s lawyer Manjeet Singh Dhillon, it said.

“This is just for information, it is not appropriate to say more than that because this will become a court matter,” wrote Awang Selamat today, which is the newspaper’s official pseudonym.

The offending article was published following the fatal mud flood on Nov 5 in Cameron Highlands, calling Adnan arrogant and urging him not to overstay his welcome. Three people had died in the flood waters.       

It accused him of being incapable of resolving illegal land clearings in the state, and has become a liability to Umno and Pahang.

“His leadership style is no longer suitable even though his supporters argue that he has the charisma to control the unique politics in Pahang.

“But the grassroots want change. Other states have already changed menteris besar but Pahang still has the same person whose rating and popularity has fallen,” Awang Selamat wrote two weeks ago.- mk

'Malays to be Red Indians if UMNO, PAS don’t unite'...

Former chief justice Abdul Hamid Mohamad today urged PAS and Umno to unite in order to stop DAP from attaining federal power, which he said would result in Malays suffering a fate similar to ‘Red Indians’ in the United States.

“Malays’ problems are not limited to the abolishing of the Internal Security Act (ISA) or Sedition Act,” he said.

“The problem is they face the threat of becoming like Red Indians in their own land,” he added.

He said that PAS and Umno must now join hands to ensure that the rights of Malays and Muslims are not threatened by DAP.

Hamid said that PKR cannot be expected to champion the cause of Malays because the party fights for “only one Malay”, in an apparent reference to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

“I don’t mention PKR because the party never said it is fighting for the Malays. It only fights for one Malay, that too if that person still considers himself a Malay,” he said.

He, however, said that Umno leaders must change the perception that the party is corrupted.

“Umno should continue being the dominant party for Malays and Muslims. The problem is their leaders,” he said.

“The number one factor why people hate Umno is because the perception of corruption. They have must correct this, not by talking but by actually avoiding corruption,” he added. - mk

Tun Hamid: Sekat DAP jadikan Melayu Red Indian

Mujahid Yusoff - Kenapalah bekas hakim ni tak bercakap isu negara pengeluar minyak menghapuskan subsidi harga minyak untuk rakyatnya. Macamana PAS dan UMNO nak berhabung kerana Melayu Kerajaan Persekutuan meminggirkan hak Melayu Kerajaan Kelantan dengan menafikan hak royalti hasil minyak. Jangan asyik nak menjaja isu Melayu kalau sesama Melayu pun tak berlaku adil, dengan bahas mudah - Melayu Umno tidak berlaku adil kepada Melayu PAS.

Hans Deus - Dulu PAS pernah masuk BN utk selamatkan UMNO (1969), apa dah jadi...ditelannya PAS sehingga gigi PAS jadi tumpul. INi lagi dah 4 penggal PAS perintah Kelantan, Terengganu dan Kedah 1 penggal, mengapa UMNO mahu jatuhkan?

Apa nama - "Where have we gone wrong". asked Najib. Hello Najib, this is one of the wrongs in the context of unity. By the way, Red Indians are hard working and not lazy as what Mahathir mentioned. So do not compare.

Vgeorgemy - Abdul Hamid Mohamad, it was the rampant corruption and crony capitalism made UMNO loosing the political power in those states controlled by PR. Based on your analysis, UMNO can never can be transparent and do any good for Rakyat. UMNO needs to change before any political party able to cooperate with them. Wish you all the best. 

Angry_Voter - The way UMNO Malays are bleeding the nation's wealth I am sure many Malays really do not mind if DAP attains the federal power. I am sure Malaysia will be in better hands compared to being under UMNO pirates. This former judge is really not that smart to compare the situation of the Malays with that of the Red Indians.
