Was MACC probe on Najib
as aggressive as on my son...
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang wants to know how aggressive the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was in probing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak compared to their probe on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Kit Siang claimed the graftbuster had immediately "swung into action" when BN levied corruption allegations against Guan Eng, and dispatched scores of officers and conducted "lightning" searches at the Penang chief minister's office.
"As Najib’s RM4.2 billion donation scandal is 1,500 times bigger than Guan Eng’s alleged RM2.8 million bungalow scandal, while the RM55 billion 1MDB scandal is 20,000 times bigger than the alleged RM2.8 million bungalow scandal, had MACC assigned hundreds of MACC officers to investigate Najib’s twin mega scandals, conducting lightning searches of the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya and carting away lorry-loads of documents?
"If not, why not?" Kit Siang asked in a statement today.
The Gelang Patah MP raised the poser while urging the MACC to prove that it was not a political pawn used to target the opposition.
The MACC is currently probing Guan Eng, who is Kit Siang's son, after a BN lawmaker claimed Guan Eng had bought the bungalow he lives in for far less than the actual market value last year.
The graftbuster had previously also submitted two investigation papers on the RM2.6 billion donation and RM42 million SRC international scandals linked to Najib.
Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali, however, decided there would be no further action on both cases, and cleared the prime minister of any wrongdoing.
Both Guan Eng and Najib have denied doing anything corrupt.- mk
