Gani 4tail was 'stupid' on PKFZ project, says Ling...
Former transport minister Dr Ling Liong Sik has slammed Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail for being "stupid" on the Port Klang Free Zone project.
Gani brought charges against Ling and another former transport minister, Chan Kong Choy (left), for cheating the government on the purchase of land for the PKFZ project.
Ling said the cabinet had made the right decision in buying the land.
"It is only the attorney-general who thinks it is the wrong decision. Stupid fellow," he told a press conference in Kajang today.
Ling pointed out that to date, the PKFZ land price had already skyrocketed and it has incurred profits.
"The land was sold for PKFZ at RM21 per sq ft - that was the sale price. Today it is worth RM70 to RM80 per square foot. That's already a profit," he said.
Ling also urged the media to interview the PKFZ on how well it was doing today.
Asked about a recent interview in which Ling claimed a "very influential person" forced him to step down as Utar chairperson when he was charged under the PKFZ matter, he declined the reveal the individual.
"No," Ling replied curtly.
'Utar to build hospital'
On a separate matter, Ling revealed that Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) will launch a new project to build the Sultan Azlan Shah specialist training hospital in Kampar, Perak.
"The land has been donated by Sultan Azlan Shah. It will train our medical students and offer Western and traditional Chinese medicine," said Ling, whom is also Utar Council chairperson.
Elaborating later, Utar president Dr Chuah Hean Teik said the university will help build and operate the hospital.
"It will also be a community hospital," Chuah said.- malaysiakini
