PAS accuses Rosmah of 'interfering' in M'sia affairs...

PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar took aim at the cabinet for approving Rosmah Mansor's trip to Qatar in a government-funded executive jet.

He claimed that being designated a national representative had paved the way for the prime minister’s wife to "interfere in the administration of the country".

NONE"When the US president Barack Obama could not come to Malaysia, he sent his representative here. He did not send his wife here, did he?" Mahfuz (right) asked at a press conference in the Parliament lobby today.

"This is a cabinet that has no dignity (tidak bermaruah).”

The Pokok Sena MP also said the cabinet has no business in approving Rosmah's trip to represent the country.

"If the prime minister wants to send a representative, he could send a minister, not his wife," Mahfuz said.

"The prime minister also sent a letter through his wife, inviting the Qatar government head to come and visit Malaysia.”

Rosmah should not have delivered an official invitation on behalf of the government, he added.

PKR Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen said Rosmah was neither the country's representative nor ambassador.

"It sets a terrible precedent and shows no semblance of decency on the government's part," he charged.

DAP's Klang MP Charles Santiago said the Cabinet's decision was an abuse of power and waste of public resources.

"She is not an elected representative and giving her permission to fly on a government jet is an abuse of power.

"If she is accompanying the prime minister I would have understood but she was flying on her own to Qatar," he added, saying there was financial imprudence as well as an absence of clear protocols.

Putrajaya has defended Rosmah's use of the official jet, saying her trip was "fruitful".

"The outcome of the visit was very positive, we must be proud and thankful of the efforts and hardwork put in by the prime minister's wife.-malaysiakini
