Blok penyokong kerajaan berjaya menyingkir MP Padang Serai N Surendran dari persidangan Dewan Rakyat selama enam bulan hari ini selepas usul untuk menggantung MP tersebut diputuskan secara undi belah bahagi.

"Maka usul yang dibawa Jabatan Perdana Menteri disetujukan," kata Timbalan Yang Dipertua Dewan Datuk Ronald Kiandee.
Nancy pada awal cuba membentangkan usul itu sejak jam 11.30 lagi tetapi tidak berjaya berbuat demikian ekoran bantahan demi bantahan oleh MP Pakatan Rakyat.
Usul itu dibentangkan BN susulan satu sidang media oleh Surendran di lobi Parlimen kelmarin selepas diusir kerana cuba membentangkan usul tergempar perobohan kuil di Jalan P Ramlee.
Beliau didakwa mengeluarkan kenyataan menghina Yang Dipertua Dewan sebagai "speaker yang bias (berat sebelah)" dan mengeluarkan "fakta yang tidak benar".
Surendran sewaktu ditemui di luar Dewan Rakyat tidak gentar dengan keputusan itu dan berikrar untuk terus menjalankan tugasnya sebagai anggota Parlimen.
Menurutnya beliau akan terus memperjuangkan isu perobohan kuil itu dari luar dewan.
"Ini bukan memangsakan saya, ini memangsakan rakyat di luar sana.
"Itu adalah motif mereka untuk menghalang kita daripada memperjuangkan perobohan ini," kata Surendran.-malaysiakini
Mereka turut menjerit "usul haram" dan "tarik balik" usul berkenaan berulang kali sambil menepuk meja.
Antara yang bangun menyokong Surendran adalah Ahli Parlimen Puchong, Gobind Singh Deo dan Ahli Parlimen Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang.
Ketua Pembangkang, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ketika bertemu dengan pemberita selepas itu membantah keputusan berkenaan dan mendakwa Parlimen diperalatkan dan ia adalah cara Umno dan Barisan Nasional (BN) mengendalikan Parlimen.
"Saya membantah Parlimen diperalatkan kerana tidak ikut peraturan Dewan. Tafsiran speaker cukup jelas. Ikut waktu usul dikemukakan. Tetapi ia dikecualikan.
"Adakah dengan mudah kita boleh gantung seorang ahli Parlimen kerana ceritanya tidak disenangi. Siasatan tidak dilakukan. Inilah cara Umno kendalikan Parlimen dengan memperbodohkan sistem kita," kata Anwar.
Pada Selasa, Surendran dihalau keluar Dewan selepas bertikam lidah dengan Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia berpunca daripada membangkitkan usul berkaitan perobohan kuil.

Vocal PKR Padang Serai MP N. Surendran has been suspended from the Dewan Rakyat for six months for insulting Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, in a proceeding marred by protests and heckling and culminating in a voting boycott by the opposition.
The motion to suspend the first-term MP was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri admidst shouts of "usul haram" (illegal motion) and "speaker bias" from the Pakatan Rakyat MPs.
It was passed in a bloc vote, with the final result of 92 ayes. The rest of the MPs did not vote.
This comes after a voice vote had been taken, which the opposition also protested.
This is the first time since the 2013 general election that a motion was moved to suspend a MP.
The motion had noted that after he was booted out for trying to push through an emergency motion over the demolition of the 101-year-old Sri Muneswarar Kaliyaman Hindu temple in the city centre.
Pandikar had rejected the motion on technical grounds and when Surendran tried to argue his stand, he was ejected from the Chambers.
"The accusation is an insult to the Speaker who has carried out his duties as the chairman of the House and this has also soiled the name and prestige of the Dewan Rakyat," read the motion.
Despite the suspension, Surendran's salary and allowances will not be frozen.
The drama which began at 11.30am after question time and ended shortly before the 1pm lunch break, was chaotic and saw the opposition MPs tearing up copies of the motion.
Khalid Samad (PAS-Shah Alam) even made a paper plane out of his motion paper.
The Pakatan MPs argued on technicalities, claiming that the motion was illegal due to the short notice, and that it did not involve public interest and instead reflected a conflict of interest as it involved Pandikar.
Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelang Patah) pointed out that the motion did not fulfil the one-day notice criteria stated in the Standing Order.
"The motion was distributed yesterday evening and you want to debate this now? Such motion should be referred to the Rights and Privileges committee. Parliament is being made a laughing stock," he charged.
Azmin Ali (PKR-Gombak) said the Speaker's decision in fast tracking the motion showed that it was clearly personal.
"Previously, Surendran's motion on the interest of the Indian community was rejected. I want an explanation on this," he said.
An exasperated deputy speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee failed to keep order in the House as the chaos continued.
"This is out of order. All this act of standing and shouting is out of order. Your act is like trying to delay the issue," he said.
There was supposed to be a debate involving three members from both sides of the divide but it was scrapped due to the vociferous protests from opposition members.
At the parliament lobby, opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the entire episode proved that parliament has been made a mockery by BN and this is an insult to the country's democratic system.
It also showed BN's arrogance, he added.
"How can a MP who is elected by the people be suspended just because he voiced his views?" he asked, pointing out that Surendran should instead be referred to the Rights and Privileges committee.
A defiant Surendran said he will not be cowed by the suspension and will continue to fight for the people.
"This will not affect my resolve to take up matters of public interest and to fight for them," he said, adding that his suspension was wrong as the Speaker failed to follow proper procedures.
"The decision to suspend me had been made before I came in today and it is clearly a tyranny of the majority."-TMI
