37 terkorban,bas jatuh gaung di Genting Highlands...


Sebuah bas terhumban ke dalam gaung di di Kilometer 3.6 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur ketika menuruni Genting Highlands petang ini.

Sehingga 9 malam ini, seramai 37 orang termasuk pemandu bas disahkan terkorban dalam nahas bas ekspres yang terjunam 60 meter ke dalam gaung di KM3.6 Jalan Genting Highlands. 
 
Sebelum itu, Penolong Pengarah Operasi Bomba Kuala Lumpur, Azizan Ismail berkata bas tersebut jatuh ke dalam gaung sedalam 200 kaki.

Menurut Azizan kemalangan berlaku di Kilometer 3.6 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur membabitkan sebuat bas awam Genting Highlands.

Menurut facebook Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat pula, anggota balai bomba tersebut bergegas ke tempat kejadian untuk menyelamat mangsa yang terlibat.


Sultan Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah turut berangkat ke lokasi nahas bagi meninjau kerja-kerja menyelamat mangsa. 

 

Manakala ADUN Ketari, Lee Chin Chen ketika dihubungi Malaysiakini berkata beliau dimaklumkan terdapat 49 penumpang dalam bas ketika kejadian itu berlaku petang ini.

Akhbar The Star pula melaporkan bahawa kemalangan itu berlaku kira-kira 2km dari Kuil Chin Swee dan lalulintas di kawasan itu sesak dan tidak bergerak.

Gambar-gambar yang diedarkan secara meluas di Facebook menunjukkan bas kuning terletak di dalam gaung.


Sehingga jam 7.15 malam, 12 orang disahkan maut manakala 21 lagi dikhuatiri turut terkorban.

Seramai 16 lagi mangsa berjaya dibawa keluar daripada bas itu dan kini menerima rawatan di beberapa hospital kerana mengalami pelbagai kecederaan. 


Sementara itu, Bernama melaporkan  Ketua Jabatan Kecemasan dan Trauma Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) Datuk Seri Dr Abu Hassan Ashaari berkata setakat pukul 6.28 petang, lima mayat mangsa nahas dihantar ke hospital berkenaan.  
   
Mangsa lain turut dihantar ke Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital

 Selayang dan Hospital Bentong, di Pahang untuk rawatan.
   
"Setakat ini Hospital Selayang menerima tujuh pesakit, HKL (5), Hospital Sungai Buloh dan Hospital Bentong masing-masing dua mangsa," katanya.

Mangsa yang terlibat dalam lingkungan umur 19 hingga 50 tahun, katanya yang ditemui di hospital berkenaan.  


Sementara itu, akhbar berbahasa Cina, Oriental Daily, yang memetik Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat, jumlah terkorban ialah 37 orang, 16 cedera.

Akhbar tersebut melaporkan bahawa mangsa yang terkorban terdiri daripada 32 Cina, tiga India dan dua Melayu. Semua mangsa dibawa keluar pada jam 8.15 malam.

Oriental Daily juga melaporkan bahawa bas terbabit membawa 53 penumpang.

Bus plunges into Genting ravine, 37 killed...

Thirty-seven people were killed after a stage bus carrying 53 plunged into a ravine along the road heading down from Genting Highlands earlier this afternoon.

The bus was said to be en route to KL Sentral.

According to Utusan Malaysia, which quoted Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, the body of the final deceased was brought out of the ravine at 8.01pm.

NONEAt an earlier press conference, Fire and Rescue Department operations deputy director Azizan Ismail said the bus fell some 200 feet (70m).

He added that 16 survivors have been taken to various hospitals.

It is learnt that the victims are being treated at the Selayang, Kuala Lumpur and Sungai Buloh hospitals.

Of the six of the injured passengers undergoing treatment at the Selayang Hospital, three of them are in critical condition.

NONEThe Star, meanwhile, reported that the accident occurred some 2km from the Chin Swee Cave Temple and traffic in the area had come to a standstill.

According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's Facebook page, a distress call was received at 2.48pm.

Photographs being widely circulated on Facebook showed a yellow bus lying at the bottom of a ravine.

Also present at the scene were the Sultan of Pahang (photo below), menteri besar and Bentong member of parliament Liow Tiong Lai.

NONEMeanwhile, Ketari assemblyperson Lee Chin Chen, who is at the scene, told Malaysiakini at 5.15pm that rescue workers had rescued 12 people from the wreckage.

Today's tragedy is one of the worst bus accidents in the country's history.

Previously, the bus accident at Jalan Cameron Highlands-Simpang Pulai on Dec 20, 2010 which claimed 27 lives was considered the most horrific bus accident in Malaysian history.

Before this, the worst bus accident was on Aug 13, 2007, at Km229 of the North-South Expressway in Bukit Gantang, where 20 people died and nine others sustained injuries.

July 30, 2011: 13 injured after a bus skidded when heading downhill.

Oct 29, 2010: A bus crashed at the Genting Sempah-Genting Highlands Highway slip road, killing seven.

June 16, 2009: 22 hurt in a bus accident.

July 16, 1996: A bus carrying factory workers and their families on a holiday excursion, plunged into a 120 metre ravine at Km1 Genting Sempah-Genting Highlands Highway, killing 17.

June 30, 1995: A landslide affecting cars and a bus resulted in 20 deaths.
