TG Nik Aziz saman Utusan Meloya sekali lagi...

UMNO mouthpiece,Utusan back to court over slander...

UMNO's right-wing mouthpiece Utusan Malaysia is faced with another lawsuit, this time from Kelantan Menteri Besar Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat whom  the paper accused of giving lands to DAP leaders in Perak in exchange for the appointment of PAS’s Nizar Jamaluddin as the state MB in 2008.

“This is a slander to tarnish my character ahead of the general election,” Nik Aziz (pic) told the press in Kota Bharu.

Utusan published an article from a blog alleging that the PAS Murshidul Am had bribed Perak DAP chairman Ngeh Koo Ham and his secretary Nga Kor Ming soon after PR's 2008 election victory, so that DAP would agree to Nizar to be appointed as MB despite the party having more state seats.

The pro-UMNO blog alleged that 10,526 acres of land worth over RM30 million in Gua Musang had been given by Kelantan to Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd, a company owned by Ngeh and his cousin Nga.

Saying the lands award changed DAP's mind in 2008 into accepting Nizar as MB, the article concluded that Nik Aziz committed bribery.

BN's state assemblymen in Perak repeated the allegation at the state assembly yesterday, armed with documents from the Companies Commission of Malaysia to prove that Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd was indeed owned by Ngeh.

But Nik Aziz cautioned the source of the news.

“I have already said that news from Utusan should not be believed. Verify it because in many instances Utusan has published slanders.

“In court, the true story will be revealed,” added Nik Aziz.

'No relation with Perak win'

Nik Aziz’s press secretary Ahmad Fadhli Shaari meanwhile issued a statement on the chronology of events leading to Upayapadu leasing the lands from Kelantan Islamic Foundation (YIK).

According to him, the state government had given the land in Gua Musang to YIK in 2000 to generate income for the foundation by jointly developing the land.

However, the joint venture had failed and the plots of land were returned to YIK.

In May 2006, YIK managed to secure a leasing contract for 50 years with Upayapadu Plantation, then chaired by Wong Yeon Chai.

Fadhli said that in May this year, the state government was informed of a change in directors and shareholders in Upayapadu to Ngeh, and the new owners paid an extra RM1.5 million to YIK.

Fadhli further said the allegation against Nik Aziz was false because what had taken place had nothing to do with the 2008 election results when BN lost in Perak.

“The lands were leased and not transfered. The lease is for 50 years. The blogger should come forward with the land titles to prove that the lands have been transferred (ownership),” he stressed
