Najib merasa perlu 'ambil hati' Dr M, kata Anwar

Anwar: We're not involved in Musa, Deepak exposes...

Anwar Ibrahim says the opposition is not responsible for the recent controversial claims made against the Umno leaders by former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan and businessperson Deepak Jaikishan.
NONE“The allegations are baseless... Have I met Musa? No. Except when he withdrew his civil suit against me... Did Musa (right) indicate his interest to join PKR? No.

"What if he does? I'll think about it.

“But the issue is irrelevant, it is not fair (to accuse Pakatan Rakyat) because I have not heard from him and neither has he indicated his interest to be in politics,” Anwar said.

As for Deepak, Anwar added, the former’s land dispute case involving Selangor Umno Wanita chief Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah and his implication of the Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s involvement was coincidentally revealed at the same time as the Umno general assembly.

“Deepak wanted to defend himself (in court) and claimed that money was transferred to the prime minister and his wife... what has that got to do with me?” Anwar asked.

Umno vice-presidents Shafie Apdal and Hishammuddin Hussein had, during the party’ general assembly last week, claimed that the allegations levelled against Umno leaders by Musa and Deepak were perpetrated by the opposition to distract Umno delegates from their meeting.

“If they are just scurrilous attacks, I would understand if they are just dismissed. But in this case, the statement is from a former IGP... he (Hishammuddin) has to explain,” Anwar said, adding that Musa should also be more specific on his allegation.

NONESimilarly, with Deepak (left), Anwar said the premier had been implicated in receiving kickbacks in a land deal and therefore Najib should also explain.

He added that Deepak’s allegation about his involvement in private investigator P Balasubramaniam’s second statutory declaration, to reverse an earlier one linking the premier to murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, also warranted investigation.

“He (Deepak) is saying he was used by certain quarters to persuade or intimidate Bala to sign the second statutory declaration.

"Therefore he is saying the first statutory declaration was right, which is a very serious allegation and should warrant an immediate investigation by the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,” Anwar added.

Last weekend, Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) advisory panel member Robert Phang also alleged that PKR was “sleeping with the enemy” in backing Musa in the latter’s statements during the Crime Watch Group (MyWatch) press conference.

However, Phang in the same breath also pointed the finger at Umno, saying Musa's statements had “backing from within the Umno household”
