Saya begitu kesal dengan tindakan pihak tertentu, memalsukan surat saya dengan menggunakan kepala surat palsu Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri (Exco) berhubung Jemputan Menghadiri Program Perhimpunan Himpunan Ummah Selamatkan Akidah yang dijadual pada 28 Januari 2012 di Pusat Budi Penyayang, Kepala Batas. Surat bertarikh 19 Januari 2012, yang ditujukan kepada pengerusi Qaryah Masjid Pulau Pinang itu juga menggunakan nombor rujukan palsu, selain hanya memaparkan nombor faks pejabat saya tanpa meletakkan nombor telefon pejabat.
Ingin saya tegaskan kerajaan negeri tidak terlibat dalam penganjuran majlis tersebut, yang saya difahamkan adalah anjuran beberapa Pertubuhan Bukan Kerajaan (NGO).

Fake invitation to rally making rounds in mosques
An “official” letter bearing the Penang
government logo and allegedly signed by state Islamic affairs committee
chairperson Abdul Malik Abdul Kassim is being distributed to several
mosque committees, urging them to attend a mammoth gathering of Muslims
in Kepala Batas on Saturday.
Abdul Malik (right), however, has denied ever issuing such a letter and has lodged a police report on the abuse of the state government letterhead. He is also unable to identify the individual or parties involved.
The Batu Maung assemblyperson said he came to know of the letter entitled ‘Jemputan Menghadiri Program Perhimpunan Ummah Selamatkan Akidah’ by a group of Malay NGOs - Himpun - purportedly signed by him yesterday.
The letter was sent to mosque committees on Jan 19, inviting them to attend the Himpun rally, planned at the Pusat Budi Penyayang Kepala Batas, he said.
“I regret that this has happened. The state does not endorse this gathering and neither will we participate in it.
“The act of sending out this fake letter with a forged signature is not only irresponsible but unethical and reflects the true nature of certain quarters,” Abdul Malik added.
According to the organisers, Himpun is supported by Malay and Muslim NGOs, including political leaders concerned about the threat of a Christian movement against Muslims.
Rally against Christian movementHimpun media information committee chief Mansor Ibrahim had claimed recently that Islam was being threatened by a Christian movement based outside the country. And that the movement is behind certain political parties in converting Muslims and to establish a Christian state in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Abdul Malik said the Permatang Pauh mosque committee chairperson Zainal Abidin Said had contacted him to verify the details in the ‘official letter’.
He was also queried by Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman after he had received a report about it from Taman Guar Perahu mosque chief Abu Bakar Bakilani.
“The letter is meant to trick the people, and to tarnish my name and the reputation of the state government.
“We are concerned because such fake letters can be misinterpreted by
the public and cause mistrust between Muslims here,” he added.
Letters will be sent to the organisers of the event to inform them of the fake letter incident and to inform them about the state government’s stand on the planned event.

When contacted, one of the rally organisers, Mohd Abdul Hamid, said he was unaware of the fake letter, adding that the event does not involve the state government.
“I agree with Abdul Malik on making the police report,” said Mohd Abdul via an SMS, adding that he was attending a meeting.
