Police seek arrest warrants for Anwar and Pak Samad....

Police will apply for warrants of arrest for 13 individuals who took part in the various rallies in Kuala Lumpur on July 9.

According to Malay daily Berita Harian, the list includes Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, national laureate A Samad Said, PAS vice-president Husam Musa, Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, and Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli.

Initially the list also included another individual - Titiwanga MP Dr Lo' Lo' Ghazali - but she had passed away on Sunday.

Others include former Perak speaker V Sivakumar, Bersih 2.0 steering committee members Wong Chin Huat and Haris Ibrahim, lawyer Latheefa Koya and Solidarity Anak Muda Malaysia chairperson Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard.

The sole Umno member on the list is Umno Youth exco member Reezal Merican Naina Merican, for allegedly failing to go to the Dang Wangi district police station to assist investigations into the various rallies.

Report submitted

Yesterday, the daily reported that the Kuala Lumpur police had submitted their report to police headquarters in Bukit Aman, which included the failure of the 13 individuals to assist in investigations and that police have applied for warrants of arrest to be issued.

Prior to this, police had recorded statements from Bersih 2.0 chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and his deputy Mohamad Sabu, and Anwar's youngest daughter Nurul Iman.

Police have also recorded statements from Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar and chairperson of Putera 1Malaysia club Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

Some of those on the list of 13 claimed they were not informed that they had to go to the Dang Wangi police station to have their statements recorded.
