The wealth amassed by Taib Mahmud and Hosni Mubarak.....

Taib Mahmud aka Pak Uban, which translates into "white-haired uncle" has ruled Sarawak for over 30 years. Among Chinese speaking communities he is known as Bai Mao which means "white hair".Holding the post of the Chief Minister of Sarawak since 1981, he is the longest serving Chief Minister in Malaysia.

The question on everybody's lips is how Taib Mahmud, who was so poor that his early schooling was sponsored by his estranged uncle,Abdul Rahman Yakub, now has an accumulated family wealth of at least RM2 billion? Taib's family moved on to other lucrative businesses by snapping up, among others, the once state-owned company, Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS). CMS conglomerate controls much of what goes on in Sarawak through its monopoly of cement, steel, timber, construction, financial services and banking.

Anyone who wants to do serious business in Sarawak may most probably have to deal with CMS or any one of its scores of subsidiaries. The company is cash rich too - two months ago, it sold its controlling stake in the debt-laden RHB bank to pension fund EPF for RM2.25 billion. Among those holding key posts in CMS are Taib's Australian-born wife Laila, sons Sulaiman and Mahmud Abu Bekir, and brother Onn Mahmud.

Hosni Mubarak assumed his role after the 1981 assassination of his predecessor Anwar Sadat, the now 82-year-old has proved to be a far more durable leader than anyone could have imagined. He ruled Egypt over 30 years.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s family, his wife Suzanne Mubarak and his two sons Gamal Mubarak and Alaa Mubarak are estimated worth 70 billion dollars, Guardian reports. In 30 years as president, Mubarak has access to investment deals that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in profits. Most of those gains have been taken offshore and deposited in secret bank accounts or invested in upmarket homes and hotels.

In 2001, Hosni Mubarak value of his personal fortune estimated at least 10 billion dollars in mostly liquid funds in American banks and Swiss, British, such as Bank of Scotland England and Credit Suisse of Switzerland. You wonder how much it worth today. Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak wealth is estimated today at $5 billion, from number of business partnerships with foreign investors and big companies.

Jamal Mubarak, Assistant Secretary-General of the ruling National Democratic Party in Egypt, has its own wealth estimated at $17 billion that spread over several banking institutions in Switzerland, Germany and the United States and Britain.

Alaa Mubarak has reached the value of property and funds personal inside and outside Egypt $8 billion. Alaa Mubarak allegedly owns $2.1 billion worth of properties in Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles, real state in Washington, New York and owns two royal yacht with value of 60 million pounds. Mubarak wealth dates back when he's still in the military and in a position to benefit from corporate corruption.

Mubarak's have generated a whopping $40 billion wealth according to a sketchy report mainly on commissions on arms deals and questionable real estate deals in his last 30 years in power. In Egypt most big corporations are obliged to give 20% to 50% of their annual profits to the government but mostly to the powerful politicians like Mubarak himself.
