Najib Abdul Razak flew in by helicopter this morning for a day-long visit to this town located in the Tenang state constituency which sees a by-election on Jan 30.
The prime minister was greeted upon arrival at about 9.30am by Johor Menteri Besar Abdul Ghani Othman, state executive councillors and senior leaders of the BN.
Najib, who is Umno president and BN chairperson, is scheduled to launch a broadband programme at the Cempelak Barat Felda community centre and meet the people of the Felda scheme. Later, he is scheduled to meet the constituents of Tenang at the Tenang Felda public field and have lunch with them.
In the afternoon, Najib is scheduled to meet the Indian community at the Labis District Council multipurpose hall.
He is also scheduled to open an extension of SRJK Cina Labis and meet the Chinese community, after which he will return to Kuala Lumpur.
The Tenang by-election is being held following the death of the three-term assemblyperson Sulaiman Taha of the BN on Dec 17.
Nomination is on Jan 22.
